NOTE: I'm doing all this to a Verizon DROID RAZR XT912(so I can only guarantee it works on that model)
You were heading the right way for root this feed works///.....:good:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1710871
Now on to custom recovery and other cool things this awesome phone can do dual boot among them the link below will get you through the custom recovery and install of custom roms

Awesome page for ROMS for this device from stock to well everything (click here) just cause I'm using CM10 stock doesn't mean you have to and this will give you a shopping market full of fun ROMS to choose from (NOTE: I recommend you read about the ROM before using it and make sure to look for the what isn't working part and it doesn't hurt to read a few comments to see if the developers have fixed the glitches sometimes they fix the problem but not the original post) later hope it helps
I know that every method works for each version of your android system, I rooted my phone, I guess the next step is to install the boot Menu Manager, I am new @ motorola phones, I come from Samsung Droid Charge, I would like to install a fully working debloated rom, I currently have the latest update 4.1.2.
I am lost, but I know I have root, I just checked with root checker.
Please help me !!
Hi. Go to your browser and install safestrap 3.11. After that, just find a ROM and follow instructions. There's a guy named Tom on YouTube who has some good 'how-to' videos. Don't use ROM manager or ROM toolbox. They arent very reliable or up to date. Titanium backup is a good purchase that helps. Have fun and whatever you do, keep and backup your stock ROM!

you just check out droidrzr.com they are dedicated to xt 912 cdma and have lots of good support and live chat support as well. incase nobody helps you here
Is ROM Toolbox still a good/safe app for debloating my stock ROM?
I came from an HTC Thunderbolt and this phone is already very different.
Also, does anyone know of an EXTREMELY STABLE ROM that is 4.2.2 Jelly Bean for this XT912?
i wouldnt suggest using rom tool box. motorola have locked bootloaders things are done differently with them while samsung and htc and others have unlocked bootloader. this is where motorola gets tricky the website i referred to you have an active chat and lots of good support if you post there. somebody will respond to you fast.
razr is kind of dead in forums because of how difficult motorola is development. it really is painful.

I kinda figured it was.
Having to use the Smart Actions app during the root process is what made me think... wtf? Lol.
Check out the CM 10.1 and Avatar ROMs is you are going for a Jelly Bean rom. So far i have liked them. FYI, i just rooted my razr a few weeks ago as well. I am loving it.
Hi I have a vodacom smart kicka there is no update to lollipop and no root possible is it possible for anyone to please make a custom lollipop rom for this phone or help me to root this phone but withought pc the phone is made by Alcatel. Thanks
I have the same phone and rooted with kingroot(not kingoroot)
As for the custom ROM, I have been searching far and wide trying to find one and even learning up on how to port one with no luck... However this phone(vf685) runs off the same hardware as the Alcatel Pop d1, which as far as I know means the can use the sane ROMs, I tried to find ROMs for pop d1 but didn't find any I liked. I'm not sure if flashing a ROM for another device will brick yours, my info comes from google and its a good idea to create a nandroid backup and know what u are doing if u flash a custom ROM
But as far as I know pop d1 ROM should work. I am not responsible if you brick or damage your device
Thanks for the info Timothy. Will do some research into it. Got this phone really cheap and am going to use it as a back-up phone.
So I have a Lenovo Vibe X (S960) and, to be honest, the stock ROM is one of the worst ROMs that I've ever seen... So I started searching and searching, and after a while I came across a few ROMs that would supposedly work on my device... But... Before now, I've never had an MTK device (a bit disappointed really)... Turns out I have to port the ROM before I can apply it to my phone... And that's something I've never done... On top of that the hard drive on my PC has died so I also don't have the tools to do so... Can anyone please port this ROM for me?

Hey,
So I was recently thinking of upgrading my phones android, since its only a ****ty 4.2, but I've been running into some problems having never done this before, let me be as quick and concise as possible.
Phone: Its an Evolio x6, I cant post external links yet, but its a 5.5inch, 2gb RAM, 1.7ghz octa-core processor thingy, made by a romanian company so thats why its pretty rare to see anyone using it.
I'm trying to upgrade it to something around an android 5, but anything above 4.4 would work, my problems are:
1. Is any ROM gonna work? Does the ROM have to be compatible with the screensize/hardware? From what I've seen specific phones have specific ROMs they can use, but since barely anyone has this phone I cant really find anything online.
2. If I install some non-functional ROM, can I recover the old OS? Since I cant find the factory ROM anywhere on the internet.
3. I've seen quite a few guides, but most of them mention "google a good ROM for your phone", are there any ROMs that you guys think might work for mine?
4. When I go into recovery mode I dont have any Nandroid options/backups, is there another way to backup everything on the phone?
Thanks for your time, sorry for bothering you guys, and have a great day ^.^
