Hey guys,
Im coming from an lg g3 and like i did then im looking for a way to go back to stock.
I want to root my device and flash thefulmics rom, but first i have to make sure that by following this thread HERE, i will go back to stock (MM or NOUGAT it doesnt matter) and it will still be undetected by LG that i have somehow tweaked my phone, and obviously i still have my warranty. So all im asking is if after rooting, unlocking the bootloader and going back to stock, will i still have my warranty?
Thanks for the help guys!

Hi guys
I'm new to the forum, and new to the whole idea of rooting my phone and installing custom ROMs etc on it, but have been turned on to the idea by the delay in release of 2.1 for my handset.
Is it possible that I'd be able to root my phone and put a custom ROM with 2.2 on it onto my phone, and then say if i decided to sell it, put the original OS back on it? You know, with Timescape and Mediascape, and 1.6 back on it?
I realise this may well be a stupid question, and a bit of a chore to you guys, but could someone advise me here? I'm seriously considering rooting my phone and putting a custom ROM on it, but I'm held back by the fact that at some point I may wish to sell this phone and would like to be able to put the original OS and its skin back on it. So please, share your expertise guys
Thanks
There aren't any custom ROM's available yet cos they've not cracked the bootloader....so I wouldn't bother... all you can really do at the minute is remove apps and change the aesthetics..
Really? I thought they had already got that far... Bummer, means im just going to have to wait till the end of the month for 2.1 and hope it doesn't get put back any further.
'fraid so.

I'm not allowed to post the whole link, but it has the same prefix as this post, forum dot xda-developers dot com, then that ^^
As I said, I'm a newbie, but what does that mean? They've gained root access but not cracked the bootloader, so can't load custom ROMs?
Thanks for the help

As already stated, fraid so. But when/if it is cracked and we can load custom roms, a reflash with seus will return it to factory state.
So if you can flash it back to normal, how does the warranty become void, is it possible to tell that a different OS has been flashed onto the phone at some point?

if you flash it back to normal(stock 1.6 or 2.1) the warranty is not voided.
Ok thanks guys. What do you think the chances are of the bootloader ever being cracked? Is it a matter of time, or is it likely at this stage that its just not possible?
Hi people,
I've been reading up on flashing custom ROMs and might be interested to start using those on my rooted X10.
Question is though, can I easily go back to stock ROM in case I need to claim warranty?
I'm guessing by updating through PC Companion or SEUS, but I want to be sure first.
I couldn't find the answer in the forums, although I read quite intensively through the first pages of the dev & hacking forum.
Don't flame me, I've got my Android several months now but still consider myself a newbie, coming from WinMo...
Its easy to flash back to the original firmware with the flash tool. So if you wanna install a custom rom go right ahead.
Do I need to have the stock ROM at my disposal? Cause I can't find it for my carrier...
Yup. It's very easy to get back to stock firmware if you got an unlocked model.
However, if you are on a branded X10, you gotta find your exact branded version.
You can probably used the search button to find it though.

Hey, I just ditched my faithful fully working Blackberry and got an used Atrix. It is rooted and unlocked, It is running Cyanogen.
I thinking I want to flash it back to stock. I'm tired of the camera saying no external storage hooked up. Email not working properly. Trebuchet has stopped working...
So I'd like to flash it back to the latest stock release/update...
Is there a guide or a sticky?
Or how would I go about it?
Or is there a stable release someone could suggest...:fingers-crossed:
Love the phone, hate the hassle so far...my bb was slow and ugly but at least it worked...lol
Any help appreciated!!
Cheers
For a fully functional alternative for stock (which sucks) find the cm7 thread in development section. Since its unlocked already it should have a custom recovery and be able to be flashed easily.
You may check for some info here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154600
However, flash a wrong stock rom may accidently brick your device, so you'd better think twice.
Hi everyone I recently flashed a rom on my HTC one m8 for at&t (ViperOneM8_1.7.1 rom)
and I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction in terms of how to restore my phone back to
at&t stock?
I only have the bootloader unlocked and I have TWRP recovery. I didn't make a backup before I flashed the rom so I can't just restore back into stock.
Thank you for taking the time to read this if someone could at least point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

The question I ask is "for what purpose?"
AT&T does not require the phone to be stock in order to fulfill the warranty.
If you simply want to return to the stock AT&T ROM, just flash the stock rooted ROM.
Only valid reason IMO to return to stock is to sell/trade the device.
If you are keeping the device, I don't see a good reason to return to stock. The stock AT&T ROM is gimped, bloated trash. And the same holds true for any OTAs that will be released. Unlocked bootloader, with root and a custom ROM is far superior.

Thank you GermanGuy for the links!
Yeah I want to be able to go back to stock for whenever I sell/trade the device. Also, I was thinking about cancelling my AT&T plan and migrating my phone over to a different carrier like straight talk. I haven't done that before so I don't know if switching to a different carrier becomes harder if I am on a custom rom.

The phone can never be returned to truly stock, in that once the bootloader is unlocked HTC will always have a record of that, linked to the phone's IMEI. Therefore, when selling or trading of the device, you should always disclose to potential buyers that the bootloader was unlocked. Although I agree even with this disclosure, some buyers may want the phone to be as stock as possible.
On some previous HTC devices, the SIM unlock code only worked on Sense based ROMs (but not AOSP) but it didn't matter if it was a custom or stock Sense ROM. I don't see any other reason why being on a custom ROM would affect you switching carriers. Its a smartphone, and works like any other regardless of whether its on a stock or custom ROM. In fact, being on a custom ROM may even make that experience easier, as custom ROMs tend to have multiple carrier APNs pre-configured; and also some features such as personal WiFi hotspot/tethering which are blocked by AT&T (without the proper data plan) are easier to get working on other carriers using a custom ROM.
In any case, the previously linked RUU is what you need to return to (close to) stock.
Hello everyone,
I just received the z2 that I purchased a few weeks ago. It is the D6503 and it should be running 4.2.2. I am coming from the Galaxy line, so I am a little unfamiliar with the nuances of the Sony software. While I do not need to install a custom rom just yet, I am looking at rooting it and running lollipop on it. However, I do not want to lose the stability and ability that comes with having my DRM intact. Can someone provide me with a little guidance on the direction to go with getting rooted and on lollipop?
Thanks everybody for your help.
Downgrade to 4.4.2, then install the XZDR. That will give you a working recovery so you can install a prerooted firmware in .zip format.
It will not be modified, just plain boring firmware with root and recovery.
Thank you very much. I know the stock will likely be boring, but since I just got the phone, I want to keep my warranty within reach until I am sure there are no issues with it. Plus, it does get bothersome losing the benefits of DRM, so I want to at least see what Sony's hardware has to offer before I take it down a notch.
