[Q] is there tutorials on partitioning and bootloader

Would it be possible if any one from the Dev group or other knowledgeable individuals be able to write up an overview of how the partitions work and how to fix some of them. I have searched the Internet and these forums relentlessly for information but nothing that I would consider conclusive for the gtablet.
You see I have been having this issue and I would really like to fix it.
E:can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
(no such file or directory)
Error mounting SDEXT:!
I realize this would be somewhat of an advanced tutorial or sticky but as people learn they will begin to get to this point in their learning.
I have read alot of tutorials but most of them have nothing to do with the gtab.
I am still trying to mentally put it all together of how what mount is doing what and what my /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 is actually doing[seems it is a cache but guessing based on what I have read]
I understand there is a fat32 partition and the ext is a linux partition.
Any information or a sticky to work from and review for users and Devs to contribute would be a great assistance for me at this point.
I would also like more information on how the bootloader file functions and what I can do with it as VS is changing the bootloader as it updates it builds.
Thanks
makto,
I think you can forget fixing that one. It appears on all G-Tablets.
No one has ever given on this site an authoritative description.
But I think this: Some of the cousins of our 512k G-Tablet that are sold
elsewhere have 1 GB of memory. I think the address being looked for
here is the second half of the memory which is not installed on the G-Tablet.
In other words, no one adapted the firmware to adjust to the smaller memory
size.
That's my story and I'll stand by it until somebody tells me its not!
Rev
P. S. -- Partitioning is an Advanced Option on the ClockWorkMod (CWM) recovery
program. It does not do invidual partitions -- rather the who table memory (and I
think even then it leaves the partitions alone that are necessary to revive itself.
I have been watching for months to learn more about format/delete/erase/etc. and
they do no carry the same meaning as with regular PCs, hard disks, memory, etc.
There is not such thing as "wiping" the G-Tablet in the sense of formatting a hard
disk and writing new stuff on it.
Rev
Why I was asking. I play with my gtablet connected more on my linux laptop. There these things I believe are possible. From what I have learned the partion I am having an issue with or the sd-ext is supposed to be using the linux ext3 partion format but I am still guessing. It also uses the fat32 partition but I am unsure if this is just on the external SD card or if it is also internal memory. Still hoping I can accumulate more information as time passes.
Here is some of the information I have been browsing trying to understand.
http://tegramid.com/wiki/Folio_partitions
http://androidandme.com/2009/08/news/how-to-manually-partition-your-sd-card-for-android-apps2sd/
There is also a link to an xda forum where they are having the same issue but I haven't mentally put it all together. It is also not for a gtablet.. so I continue to contemplate.

[Q] help fixing bad partition / flashing

hi, i bought a cheap and cheerful chinese tablet, works well, but the internal memory was partitioned leeving little room for "internal memory" so i did this (try) to fix it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2412319,
so i started link to sd and it said partition not detected, so i restarted the tablet, and now it is saying "available memory 0"
i have nothing installed and i cant access internal storage via pc anymore, it shows the drive letter but when clicked it asks to "insert memory into drive .."
after looking around, it would seem that i need to re-flash it, or just put up with it.
this is my tablet http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/351019060457?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
so either i need a rom or i need to re-format the internal sd.
can someone help me find a solution please?
i have found that i can see the internal storage from mtp on pc, but i cant format'
it is saying that the drive size is 0.00mb
anyone?

Similar issue - internal storage that isn't usable (different reason, but same end result - unusable storage). Look at post #5 for a rough idea of what might help. Basically you'll need to find the partition block your storage is located on (typically different for different devices) and erase the partition completely and then reformat it.

usb partition problem

Hey everyone
I have recently bought an android tablet with KitKat and 16 GB internal storage.
But there were just 1gb available memory for installing apps and the remaining 11 GB were USB storage.
As I didn.t like this I tried to partition flash memory with mini partition tool wizard home(or sth like that I donno the name exactly).
I have partitioned the flash memory as following: 3gb for internal storage(fat32), remaining memory for USB storage and 8mb as ext2( I completed this after a tutorial).
Everything was done ,I applied and then I reboot my tablet. When I entered link2sd said that cannot detect my partition. When I get to storage information I realized that I still had 1gb internal memory, but 445mb USB storage. I was a bit panicked so I tried to wipe data, but didn't work. When I tried to repartition the flash memory with mini part tool , the computer couldn't connect to my tablet storage.
I have lost my internal memory(most of it) and now I want to recover it as it was stock.
Plsssss help me I have root access and I think there is a way to fix with root explorer but I don't no it so hopefully you guys understand my issue and help me.
Thanks

Are you rooted?
Edit: nvm you are I see.
You have to use an external SD card for link2sd, does not work with internal storage.

Why would you repartition your storage to a windows (fat32) partition? This is a Linux based system running on ext4. You may just have killed that partition without redoing your device from the boot loader up.

You will need some sort of default rim update with the correct partitions. It will wipe your device if you can find one. Which depends on the device. You. At have corrupted it beyond any repair you can do. Check the oem site as you. Ever stated what device it is.

OK don't take this the wrong way but you really seem to have no idea what your doing. No you can not fix a partition issue by replacing some system files. You messed the base system up. I would go to the oem site and forums and see if you can find something that will help you. Basically you will have to flash a rom from the boot loader. This should fix your issue. But with it being a minor brand device you may spend a long time finding it but I wish ukulele luck.

Oem stand for original equipment manufacturer. A google search may find it as I have never even heard let alone seen this device.
Now if/when you get it fixed I would advice you to do your proper research before doing something that could leave your device bricked and void your warranty. Age has nothing to do with it. My sons are the same age and know to spend a few hours or even days researching an issue before trying anything. Flashing your device is not an easy, no risk thing to do. It holds many risks as you have found out. I would read up on Linux a bit

I know age has nothing to do ,it was about I didn't no things like I need to reflash device to restore partition. I have great experience with android and flashing Roms as I have plenty of devices. I change Roms weekly tasting their features. Whatever my dad is working in it but he's on windows.
I have found a possible solution to my prblm after few hrs of googling== I found with disk info that I didn't make any partition, their just unmounted. Nows da big question: is it a way to mount them ( I found out that I could merge partition kernel source- or srh like that -)
My tablet is a copy rebranded after onda 711s==allwiner a31

Help! Gpt partition

Hi, I wasn't sure where this thread should go do its cross posted in the misc. Android development forum also. If I should remove it from one or the other please let me know.
Here is my problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Okay, so I inserted my SD card into my moto E5 and chose to format it as internal storage. I ignored the warning that told me once it was formatted to be used as internal it would no longer be able to be used in any other device. I of course ignored this thinking they only meant id have to reformat it and lose all my stuff on their when I did, but of course once formatted I could pop it in anything. Now I realize I can't reformat it, at least I don't know how. I have tried using the app a parted to delete and create partitions and volumes etc, I have tried to use disk part in windows to clean, modify read only attributes, convert gpt, delete repair etc. Nothing has worked. Is their a way to get rid of the gpt partition on my ONN micro SD card and then reformat it so I can use it either in a different phone or anything at all? Thanks in advance
