Hi guys,
when i'm playing music from my sd cards (Sandisk 32 or 128 GB, both class 10), i'm facing some music distortions / drop outs. They are irregular and appear more often when i'm doing some multi tasking. It is a kind of lag - there is for some milliseconds no sound. After that music goes on normally.
This does not appear while playing music from internal storage. Unfortunately, i own only the 16 GB 'kate' version and my free space is very little.
I tried different roms (miui, nxrom) and different music players, but not luck! Do you have a solution?
Thanks in advance,
j4m
Try with another SD Card. I'm pretty sure the problem is caused by a bad quality sd card
I don't know if it's the same issue as you, but my SanDisk class 10(I think 32GB) suddenly(maybe after 1-2months usage) got very very bad write speeds and overall very laggy with the SD. I'm talking write speeds of about 100KB/s. I bought a Samsung 32GB and running fine for maybe a year now.
Simply get a SD card from your friends or family members . Put it in your device & try playing the music .
Issue maybe with SD card or
If you have 2 Gig variant with Miui & kinda multi tasking on heavier side it may lag

Sound like sd problem i have a really bad C3 SD and i don't have lag. Try with other sd on your phone and yours in another phone too.
I have 2 sandisk SD cards and they just work normally except the music playback. They were also brand new. I will test SD cards from other manufactors and will report back. Maybe sandisk is in a way incompatible (at least for me).
Big thanks for your answers!
Still the same with a sd card, which works perfectly in another phone.
Has anyone the same problem?
Hi I am also facing music distortions / drop outs after upgrading to miui 9.2.4.0 in my RN3 kenzo.
I am using viper4android, after turning off viper no issue with music, facing this issue with music player only, youtube works fine.
Tried to turn off MIUI optimization also tried to change music player but still same.
Please help to resolve.

SanDisk Mobile Ultra MicroSDHC 16GB SDSDQY-016G-E11M
I had a new Class 4 16GB Micro SD Card delivered yesterday after one of my cards failed.
Speed was markebly improved over the old Class 2 cards I have. Data transfer was particularly impressive!
The card is a little pricey £££ and I could have replaced the faulty card with another cheaper Class 2 but thought I'd give the "Ultra" card from Scandisk a go.
I watch a lot of video (on the train on the way into work in London - Heroes, Battlestar Callactica etc !!!) and speed is important - especially for standard DivX with no additional compression! Any lag I had previously has now gone - Very impressed....
I ordered the card from Amazon - link below - and although it states 3-4 days for delivery it arrived next day.....
Here>>> Amazon.co.uk
ScanDisk Official details can be found >>HERE<<
.
Are you getting any skipping/jumping/pausing of music with this card? I would be interested to hear especially with your rom as I did get such problems with my class 2 16gb card and same rom (Dutty 2.3). I've just flashed my old Polaris to 3LIT3 VI Suite and am now getting the problems on this device which I never used to. Hence my theory about the card being the cause of the problem.
Will be interested to hear.
Thank you.
Wow, that is certainly impressive. I presume you're using CorePlayer to play the vids? And no lag at all? Awesome.
PS: To Galactica... best ship in the Fleet.
I've had the card for a few days mow and have just returned from London and can confirm that the video playback is greatly improved. I'm using CorePlayer - I used to get some ghosting (phasing) and the odd skip but now its very smooth indeed.
custardo01 With regard to music - I have never had an issue playing music so cant comment on why your experiencing a problem - I'd recommend copying an audio file onto the main solid state drive (device) and play from there to confirm its a problem with the card before purchasing a new one though?
Arthenik .....Galactica - Absolutely - watched the 2 hour final episode yesterday (on the HD) fantastic but such a shame its over!!!!
.
Well, I guess I'll have to get one too. I'm really impressed by your reactions.
Regarding Galactica, I watched the finale on air and then subsequently at a local Frak Party. Both times were frakkin' awesome. And yeah, I'll really miss the show a lot.

Palmde - I'll try to find some time this weekend to benchmark but as per previous posts I am very impressed - especially with viewing uncompressed video!
.
Thank's a lot for your help Blob8me.
I own already a SanDisk Mobile Ultra MicroSDHC 8GB and i am very hapy about it: I can watch most of my movies on my HD, without to re-encode them.
I hope that the 16GB version will be at least as good.
So I am waiting your results.
£38.99 including delivery here. They say it's class 4 ?
Just asking but where the hell do you need class 4 microsdhc?
class 4 means it writes 4mb/sec VIDEO to same place in card, so datastream stays healthy for camera usage for example 1080p HD CAMERA.
It doesnt mean it only works that slow. Our HD cannot even match those speed anywhere near. And second these phones do not use that kind of file management to save continuous file stream.
For example I have kingston class 2 and it writes 12mb/sec when using cardreader on PC.
Or example 2 so people really understands. There is SDHC card from sandisk which is Extreme III 30mb/s edition. That is only class 6 card. And it still writes as fast as 30mb/sec. Ive tested this and can confirm since I have those on my DSLR camera.
So question is why do you pay MORE for NOTHING?
Dont read class number, read what it writes and reads per second its what you want to know.
Edit: Ofcourse bigger class means it can be better but class number doesnt tell its real speed. since class number is for continuous data (video writing)
Hello members,
Bought a new lg optimus one a few days ago. Came with a stock 2GB card and did not install anything much in it.
Just songs and a few apps from android market like - angry birds, handcent SMS etc..
Yesterday I saw this sd unmount problem for the first time.. Even the contacts in the contact list disappeared. But after a restart and all things came back to normal. Then again saw same things a few hours later.. But did not act on it and things became normal by itself!!
Can you please help me:
1) identify my sd card class?
2) identify if my phone is suffering from sd unmount problem?
3) solve this sd unmount problem(if any) with this stock card.
Hopping to get helped soon
Still awaiting help.. Please help guys.. :|
open the back cover and look at the sd card. The class of the card is written inside a small circle (the circle is not whole) [the sd cards of class 2,4,6 are common]
NOrmally class4 cards are reported to have issues. I myself have this problem on my CLass4 8gb san disk card.
A way to reduce sd unmounts is to install all the apps to phone memory and use the sd card only for read operations (like watching movies and listening to mp3's etc)
I have noticed sd unmounts while an app tries to write data to the sd card. I have never had any issues while reading from an sd card.
If the SD does not have the number inside the circle then its probably class 1. The stock SDs do not always work because they do not come from LG originally. They come from the your local LG retailer.
The solution is to go for a higher class. And not only the class, buy a MicroSDHC that is of a known brand. I had the same problem as you with my stock card and changed it directly because I had the same issue with my old GT540.
Apparently, android 2.1 and higher need fast cards for writing.
or u could try some custom rom's
cause my phone came with a samsung 2G SD and had unmount problems with stock rom
Guys which class card should I go with?? And apart from changing to a new card, is there any other option?

Which custom ROM can help me and which also has a good battery backup? My girlfriend actually owns it who is a light user... She do not want to play high end games and all.. She just wants the phone to work good..
Also purchasing a class 6 would be out of budget for me.. But can a SanDisk 8gb sdhc class 4 card do some good?

go for void if u want battery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=887281
as far as sd card is concerned just try the custom rom and see id the problem persist since she is not a heavy user she wont be needing 8 gb card as well untill unless she listen to songs. while sd card class 4 is good enough i am using that too san disk since other was out of my budget i bought it as i needed higher storage space but my unmount problem was solved flashing custom rom in my 2 gb sd card provided by lg
move all the apps to phone memory. this will reduce the sd card unmounts.
I have a sandisk 64GB sdxc class 10 microsd card in my S3.
However I'm having a lot of issue syncing music to it ( around 40Gb of MP3s ) all theses issues seem to be related to using a 64GB card, as everything works fine with a 32GB one.
I've tried syncing with 2 softwares with similar results (Mediamonkey and windows media player). (MTP)
Basically the initial full sync works, however and re-sync afterward fail for various reasons (hang, mm report as full, report sync failure etc).
Card was formatted internally with the format in the system options.
I bought a 32gb card off a seller on eBay cause it was a ssteal and when I got it the first time it was OK but when i reformatted it it stopped saving my pics. I ended up finding out that the card had a crapload of bad sectors. so i got back in touch with the seller and asked for a refund. he sent out another card, same issue. I eneded up get a refund. might wanna see if there are bad sectors on it..
get an iPhone, NOTe gonna happen
How did you check for bad sector on a microsd?
Other users on mediamonkey forum reporting the same: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=66514&sid=eefac781d2db7377ac5c09936a9b0b18
You should have got an SD adaptor with the card. Just need to plug it into you computer then in my computer right click on the SD card and run error check under the tools menu (windows)

Well seems like the card is good.... I guess there are very few people with a 64GB microsd..
Size DOES matter?
Apparently it does. I found a 4GB MicroSD and tried a Media Monkey playlist sync to the S3 tonight. I set up the MM autosync options per the normal procedures and then ran the autosync. A small test (40 songs, 220MB) worked great. I then added a larger playlist (220 songs, 1.5GB) and it went over as well. Playlists were auto-created on the device and I was able to access & play them w/o incident. Artwork and tags came across just fine in this small test. I haven't tried adding new songs to the playlist and resyncing yet, but will do so.
So where does this leave us? It seems like MM does work on the S3 within the limits of this test. Do we need to look at the 64GB problem as a Samsung issue or an ICS one? I guess we need to look around and see if other apps are having problems with the 64GB MicroSDs. Thoughts?
Are you having the same issue as I do with a 64Gb card?
I've tried with a 32Gb and everything works fine..

@ x-cimo: Yes, we're in the same boat, and on the same S3 thread over at Media Monkey. Dunno if 64GB MicroSD is an issue with all apps on the S3 or what. Hopefully someone else with experience one way or the other with a 64GB card will speak up to cast a little more light on this.

There are a lot of us that use the 64gb microSDXC card but most likely or probably are not having the same issues as you

Unfortunately and hate to be the one to repeat it, the difference is between the real 64gb cards and the fakes..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1759774
Is there anyway to tell if one is fake? The card seem to work flawlessly in a PC.
Anyone else finding random video pauses or memory inaccessible with 64gb card inserted?
Every so often I'll be watching a movie with stock or bsplayer and then the movie will pause and I won't be able to carry on watching or do anything else until I remove and reinsert memory card.
File Manager will keeps saying ''processing''.
Anyone found a fix?

To many reported problems with the 64GB card for me to try one . I shall wait for non SanDisk 64GB .

I love having the card. But yeah there are far too many issues. I'd have thought there'd be a patch or something to get it go work properly...

I ve had both the class 6 and the class 10 64gb sandisk microsd, no problems for me with neither of them.
i got a 9300 with stock ICS.
Do you think it might be a hardware fault with the phone then?

No problem with my class 10 64 GB Sandisk either.
Really enjoying my XA Ultra, however, can anyone recommend a good MicroSD..
I tried a Sandaisk 64GB 80m/s card, but the phone says card is too slow in the camera app and it takes hours to transfer Flac music files.
Im not sure if it doesnt like Sandisk cards or 80m/s is too slow.
Which SD Cards do you use and you find work well or are reliable, plus are there any youve tried which havent worked so well?
