Hi,
Due to a problem with the app on Xiaomi redmi note 3 (been told me here) I was adviced to install the whatsapp plus.
I moving right now to Xiaomi Mi5S and made a backup.
But the regular app does not accept it.
Thanks for your help.
Backup in sdcard or google drive??
Not sure if i completely underatood.
Maybe you meant to copy the backup file of the plus ver to Google drive folder in the sd?
Than install the Play store version and the app will pull the backup from there?
But what if the folder names of the plus ver are defferent on the regular app?
Thanks!

There is an option in the what's app settings to backup all the data to Google drive.
See if the plus version has that ...if so use that to backup to google drive.
There is no use of uploading folder to drive
Also post some more info...
Regarding the file structure of the backup of the plus variant
Hi,
No option of chosing where to upload the backup to any where other than sd
Dont know what to tell you about the "structure".
The backup file called - msgstore.db.crypt12
Is it helpful?
Thanks very much

In my 5t when I try to backup the WA+ data, I am not seeing/getting the option to back it up to Google drive. My other phones with WA+ are showing the option to backup data to the drive. When I click on backup it says backing up data, then it is completed till 100% and boom nothing happens. Where is it backing up the data and where is Gdrive option?

I've created a backup called "app +data (easy import)".
Now I can't find any option to restore an app from this backup.
Not from dropbox nor from a titanium backup folder.
Titanium does not see this file and says there is no backup for that app.
So how to restore an app from this kind of backup??
Try clicking on the backup file either in Dropbox or the local file system and running it. Titanium Backup will then ask if you want to restore the app and or data. I know I saved my backup in Gmail, and after downloading, I just press view in Gmail itself and TiBackup will show that dialog.
Sent from my HSPA+ Nexus Prime using Tapatalk 2
it was enough to update to the nevest verssion.
Now I have a bigger problem.
It does not restore any data of system apps.
Not Go Launcher, nor Go sms, or rom settings are being restored.
I've tried to flash the rom again an then restore - no result.
How to force titanium to restore system apps data?
ps. I was able to do it before. It's just stopped working.
Hi I am having similar problems, backed up using easy backup apk & data, sent via gmail to my other phone with Titanium backup on it, when I open it TB recognises it and says please wait, but nothing happens the app does not install. It is only a widget that I want installed but its not having it :crying:
Also I have a tf101 which is not rooted is there anyway I can unzip without TB to use this free widget as its not on the general market, I have a paid version of TB and using the latest release, but obviously not on the tf101.
Any help appreciated as it is frustrating I cannot save apks to other phones.
Thanks

I never found the correct answer to this question, which - from my experience - is a rather improbable one. This is the answer:
Find your TiBkp file with some kind of file explorer. In my case: I used "root explorer", probably any other one will do as well. Tap on it.
You will see: "No activity found to open this file."
Your options are
a) cancel
b) open as.
Choose "open as".
Now you get a lot of options (I see seven). One of them is: APK file. Choose it.
Now you may select an "option for null" (probably the null refers to the unknown file extension TiBkp) .
The options are: cancel, view and Install.
Choose install.
Now you get the option from Titanium backup to restore your files. And that works perfectly.....
Cheers :victory:
Hello, i Know this thread is old, but i seem to have run into the same problem. My tibkp file is grayed out and i can't access it. and when i navigate to it and try to open it, it won't give an option to open it with Titanium. Help please. Thank you
PS I have a rooted S7 Edge. Thank you
Hm.. I'm having a similar issue: I can't import .TiBKP files anymore; two devices, S6 Edge running SuperSU-rooted nougat, and Tab S2 running magiskSU-rooted nougat (in both cases the nougat itself is from samsung)
Hello im having troubles backing up an app.
Whenever i back up i get three files (.apk .tar and one PROPERTIES) instead of the .TiBkp. I cant restore said files.
Help please.
New phone, Old problem. Trying to use .TiBKP files to migrate apps&settings from my old phone to my new one, rather than just simply copy everything using smart switch, but opening them in Titanium Backup is NOT an option for .TiBKP files.
Any hints?
I recently got a new Z2, it came with android 6.0.1 preinstalled.
I currently use a xperia ZL and want to migrate everything to my new phone. Contacts and calendar are easy, but how can I easily copy existing apps from one phone to another?
I have a very very poor internet connection, it woukd take days (!!) to download everything from PlayStore again. And app data would be lost.
Since I don't have root on Z2 titanium is not an option.
How do you guys migrate your apps and app-data to a new phone?
How about ShareIT ?
You can send multiple apps from one phone to another using WiFi Hotspot.
Install an apk backup app on the old phone and copy the backup folder to new phone. To restore you can do it with the help of the backup app or do it manually yourself via a file browser to select and install the apk. This does not back up app data/settings (because not titanium/root) but atleast you won't have to use internet to reinstall the apps.

To transfer apps and their data use helium backup. But make a backup using a Webbrowser, not to the internal storage because other phone won't detect them. Then just restore via website on the other phone with the same app.

First, thank you all for your tipps!
I read that helium doesn't work on xperia-phones, does it only affect the backup on sd card?
Just curious because backup to a web server is not possible for me due to my bad bandwith.... [emoji30]
I managed to copy all apps to my new phone. I will now try to export the settings from some critical apps and import them again on my Z2.
So again, thank you for your help!

Helium worked fine with lg g3, xiaomi redmi note 3 so it should also with xperia.
The backup is being performed to internal storage, but that option won't let you recover the apps on another phone, only on this one.
That's why I mentioned webbrowser backup. It's not backup to a cloud.
It backups to your computer storage. Internet speed doesn't matter.
Understood. Thank you!!

If I copy Whatsapp folder from old phone to new phone on exact location. Will it restore all my pictures and chat ?
It happens to me. from XioMi Max to Huawei P20.
1. I do normal backup.
2. I copy everything from my folder under Whatsapp.
3. Than i try to restore it back when i already copy and paste from old files.
if it takes more time that you have.
Please backup your video and picture to Google Photos first.

If I go to the settings of my whatsapp backup. It says last backup on drive is made on 28th May 2018. There is no information about local backup. Does it create local backup automatically? Or will I have to switch Google Drive Backup to "NEVER" in order to get local backup?

Hello,
My phone (redmi 6 pro) is rooted, I dont use Gapps and use all other social apps like fb, twitter and whatsapp without any issues.
The situation that i get stuck at is when I have to take the WHATSAPP BACKUP before installing custom rom.
Since i dont use gapps so i cant take backup at google drive, so i take manual backup of whole whatsapp folder to my sd card BUT after installing rom and whatsapp, when i run the app then whatsapp dont recognize sd card backup and I end up loosing my chats.
I also tried copying the sd card whatsapp folder to internal storage but no luck.
Please advise how can i retain the whatsapp backup in this situation?
Thanks,

Always zip WhatsApp folder manually by rar app on phone or pc anytime you want to keep backup. After installing new rom or resetting phone restore back the WhatsApp folder using rar apk. This is the convenient way because I don't allow Google to backup my WhatsApp files. If your Sdcard hosting the WhatsApp folder is not corrupted, just zip the folder and unzip with rar app to the internal storage. But do that before you install WhatsApp apk, meaning the WhatsApp folder must be unzip first.
Use this rar app;
Thanks, i will surely try out this solution...
Out of curiosity, have u ever tried taking whatsapp backup with titanium and restoring it after installing new rom??

Hello,
Is there any way of recovering backup data from a backup made through the built in backup android feature that saves the backup to google drive? To be more specific, I would need access to SMSs. I do not have an access to the original phone.
Is there a way to recover the backup on lineageos or a VM?
Thanks in advance.

Your files in stored on Google Drive can be reached from any smartphone, tablet, or computer. So wherever you go, your files follow.

I don't mean regular google drive files but phone backups. The ones that contain things like call logs, messages, apps, etc. Example link where my backups are located: drive.google.com/drive/u/0/backups

Believe me I know the files what can get backed up by means of Google Drive app. But obviously you don't know what the term file means in the world of computers - here: Android device. FYI: A file is a container in a computer system for storing information / data.
