Guys my SGS2 is taking around 4+ hrs to charge from around 5% left. Is this normal.?
Yep takes 4 hours here too

What's the rated output on the wall charger?
I think this is by design as the phone already gets extremely hot when pushing the CPU (gaming etc).
I believe this can eventually be changed with custom rom/kernel.

5v @ 0.7A, by the looks of it this is normal.
thanks for responce peps. Never had a phone that took so long to charge.! Normally about an hour which is why i thought i may have had a problem with the handset.!
S2 stock Optus KE2 with it remained turned on with wifi, email checking etc using Energizer XP8000 battery as power source for charge went from 24% reminaing to 100% charged in ~2hrs. S2 internally seems to limit it to <700mah charge rate.
Find a Iphone4 charger or something similar it will give you 5v @ 1.0A, charges quite a bit faster, I use that at work then the slow .7 at home.
my XP8000 charges at 1000mah but S2 will limit it to 700mah
I think you could charge the battery alone in a dock. There it should load with the full 5V and 1ah..

Ah forgot about that. But it's kind of pain removing that battery cover.

Anywhere you can back this up? I seem to have faster results using a 1.0 vs .7, showing that it is getting more power.
It's been mentioned a few times across various forums. But i'm just going by my experience.
It also takes me around 4 hours to fully charge from below 5% battery. However, if I turn the phone off whilst it charges, goes slightly quicker. Obviously.
Hi,
I think the recharging time is quiet normal for such a phone (and battery).
I had to charge the battery of a friend's phone these days with my notebook.
And it took some hours from 30%. (HTC DHD)
About the same for my SGSII.
I think thats normal.
what would we do without electricity?
Dead phone that is fully discharged battery phone off stock charger to 100%
sub 3 hours .

Changed handset yesterday. today charged new phone from 5% and it took 3hrs 4mins. So it looks like i may have had either a dodgy charger or batt.
I am charging with supplied charger(5V / 0.7A) ...
During the charging I turn off my phone but the charging time is still 3-4h -.-
Does Galaxy Ace shows a notification when battery is fully charged ? Yesterday I got a new Ace, I kept it for charging for around 3-4hrs.. The battery indicator shows the battery full, but notification on the homescreen(when its locked) showed its charging..
How am I suppose to understand its fully charged..?
Yes, normally a notification should appear when the battery is fully charged!
How much hours does it take to fully charge if the battery is around 5%?
The battery isn't fully charged until you don't get a notification (both sound and green icon on the top-left corner). That's even if you see the indicator showing 100%
Wow..my battery is still blue.. in the right hand corner.. How long does it takes to fully charge?
Depending on ROM / mods, your battery icon may look different. But a notification should show up after around 3 hours.

Well that depends, wether you're charging via USB or the wall-charger (I don't really know the name of that thing xD )
USB charging requires more time, I've tried and it took me about 4-5 hours to full charge the phone.

Ok..Last nite... I charged for 3-4 hrs.. but didnt get any notification..maybe I will try it today..Is it ok to leave it on charge over-nite? Maybe 6-7 hrs after a full deplete..?
Have you tried to reflash your ROM? There's maybe something wrong within the kernel.
And about charging overnight... I doubt that's a safe thing to do..
Used to charge my old phone overnight everytime and now it's battery depleted within 4 hours after a full charge.
Tapatalked from my Noirette III
well, certainly not on froyo. probably only ginger has it in-built-i get it on galaxy s (ginger) but not on Ace (froyo).
Hey!
You can charge it over night. And it shows notification in home screen CHARGED!
CHEERS!
@rhadrio I havent re flashed it..just got it yesterday.
I guess the battery nowadays have no -ve effect, if we over charge them.. ? Any one can confirm this?

Of course its NOT good, if you OVER CHARGE it every time. And for correcting battery stats, you need to calibrate it(you must be ROOTED, before use BATTERY CALIBRATOR[free from MARKET]). But still I suggest to use it(BATTERY CALIBRATOR) only if you get too fastley drain you battery(I mean, if you see that you battery getting worst or similar).
CHEERS!
I haven't rooted it yet. I will charge it overnite today & lets see if its works better tomorrow..
Batteries now have built-in overcharging prevention. No worries.
XDA ♥
Well.. I kept it over nite.. In the morning I saw a notification on the phone as "Charged", but I am not sure how many hours did it take to charge it.
I dont know about battery issue aftr overnight charging.....but i used to charge my 5800 overnight daily, i used 2 and hlf years but nothing happend to batry or batry back up...
and if u charge yor ACE with AC charger it will take min 4 hours as our chargers are 0.7A
and if u charge with USB ur cell will get completly charged in half time compared to AC charger

...nope! usb is 500 mA (0.5 A) max - in best case, depending on mode etc. so AC charger is faster as it's 0.7 A. max 3-4 hrs here on ac.
Hello,
How can I tell if my HTC One Max is actually charging at 1.5 A? I've had the phone for about 4 days now, and it charges soooooo slowly. One night/morning it took almost 6 hours to fully charge from around 15%. This can't be right. There are times I've just sat in bed (Thanksgiving Day, for example) doing some light texting and light web browsing...all with the official 1.5 A charger connected, and at times the battery level DECREASED, even while connected to the charger. I have the brightness set to auto, and the screen timeout set to auto. This can't be right...
I downloaded a couple of apps from the play store that try to estimate the charging speed. Battery Indicator estimates that my phone is charging at a rate of about 14.3% per hour. It's also telling me my phone will take 47 minutes to get from 88% to 100%. WHAT!? Another app, just called "Battery" says my phone was charging at 684400 mA...then it changed to 219900 mA. (Of course, neither of these numbers make sense, either. That would be 684 amps or 219 amps...enough to blow something up.)
Again, I'm using the official charger that came with the HTC One Max saying it supports 5 V, 1.5A. I have other chargers lying around different rooms of the house...there's a chance that I'm not using the actual USB cable part that came in the box (it could be mixed up with an older one I had lying around), but would that affect charging speed?
Thanks for any help you can give me. I'm about to call HTC now.
you should really try it first with the OEM cable and charger, but it should not take 6 hours..if it does with the HTC cable/charger, take it back, its defective
assuming you are on stock, and not rooted/tweaked

1.5A charger charge 1500 mAh per hour so it should charge in about 2 hours and a half..
You have one problem of two ether your charge isn't good or your
battery.. if your phone run out of battery very fast then it's your battery else it'sthe charger

I had a friend of mine get a new HTC One and it tooks hours to charge.. it was the charger which was at fault. as said in the previous post. if it also discharges fast then the battery is at fault, if it only takes time for charging it is definitely the charger. i am guessing you have found the solution already lol

I think I figured out the solution: In any scenario, I was using the charging adapter that came in the box. The variable that changed was the USB cable...since I have several lying around in about every room of my house. It seems only that the USB cable that came in the box will charge the phone quickly...around 3 hours and 20 minutes from completely dead to 100%. Any other USB cables seem to charge at about half that speed. (And of course, charge time suffers when the screen is on and you're using the device.)
But I still find this really odd. I assumed all micro USB cables were created equal. Perhaps not. Am I missing something here?
That's odd. This phone has the quick charge component/feature from Qualcomm, but that should not make any difference based on the cable.
well may be the other cable were not plugged in properly and did not reach the charging pins in the correct place? Do you notice a difference in attaching and detaching the cables?
for whatever reason, factory cables ALWAYS work best with the device they came with..
sometimes aftermarket cables are ok, but you can never be sure...
If you can, use the cable and charger that your device came with; that will always be best.

I had the same issue. I was going to use my old S4 cable cause it is longer. It gave me a notification telling me to only use the charger that came with it. Was the cables fault. My guess is it is using an extra pin to tell the phone it is the correct cable sort of like how OTG cables work.
Hello!
Phone wall chargers strangeness... So we are talking here about the phone Lg g3 and my adventures with chargers for it. So my original charger broke so I decided to find myself another one original but couldn't find. I got myself original 2 ampere samsung charger probably for the s4 and made some tests. From 39% to 49% on airplane mode with everything turned off and only the display constantly on for all the time on zero brightness, I got it charged with 10% for 20 minutes which is exactly 1% for two minutes. Then I charged it with 1.5 ampere nokia lumia charger and for 10 minutes i got 10 % charge which is exactly 1% for a minute. And finally I charged it with 850mA old sony ericsson charger and i got the exact same result as with the samsung charger which is in theory 1.25 A more powerful . Is this something about the incompability with the lg phone on a samsung charger or what?
Thank for the future possible replys and have a nice day.
So guys i got few questions about it.
Lg v10 has quick charging feature so i wanna know that how that works.
its works always, and any % ? or there is a certain point for it to work. im asking this bcus today i had 10% battery left and i plugged in its original charger with original cable which supporting quick charge. it was charging normally till 32%. i realized that and i plugged off charger and plugged back again it was still normal charging . then i again plugged of and closed phone and plugged it back when phone was off. it otomatically started phone and i entered my pin code. boom it started to quick charge
sso can some 1 explain me that quick charge?
Also that hifi dac works with bluetooth earbuds? like hbs910 - hbs 1100 or samsung level u pro ?( sorry my bad english )
Hmm... I'm under the impression quick charge only works with the screen off. Could that have played a part in this?
Sent from my LG-H901 using Tapatalk
My V10 also meets this issue. when your phone running out of battery at 0% lowest level, it is hard to activate the quick charger, i have to replug and unplug charger many times 10 times more to activate the charge process, the screen with phone and cable keep blinking and blinking...
But if your V10's battery still remain and you wanna charge, you just unplug and re-plug about 3 or 5 times, the quick-charge will activate. I have no idea if this relates to Software or Hardware issue.
SOLVED: my cable connecting my charger and phone is broken, change the cable, issue is solved!
Well I didn't think that I ll need quick charge since I was using z2 bcus I could have a full day no matter how much I use the phone. It was charging like in 3.5 hours. So I was charging it only when I go bed. But since v10's battery life isn't that good I realy need quick charge. I waited few months for bot buying first wave of v10 but still I bought first wave I guess. Let's hope it's software problem and get fixed soon

Well for me it works all the time. When i connect my original cable and charger i always get quick charge notification and it takes around 1 hour to fully charge the battery. I recommend though to leave the phone connected on charger for around 1 to 1.5 hour more if possible. This way the phone tops the battery charge fully getting additional around 200mA charge. You can install battery monitor widget from market and you will see that the phone continues to slowly charge after telling that battery is full. This stops when battery ot charged to the max.
0% to full takes 1 hour? that is rly nice since mine takes atleast 90 mins... even it says quick charging
