Hi, all!
This is my very first post. Not even sure if there's a solution to this, tried searching but probably my keywords didn't exactly hit it.
I have a Huawei P9 Lite. I just received the OTA update for Nougat Beta with build number VNS-L31C636B331. My previous build was VNS-L31C636B170. I received the OTA update after I registered to become a beta tester. The installation was successful, things went running smoothly until I noticed my VPN app was closing when my phone is locked (even when I had it set to run after screen-lock). It got so annoying until I decided to reformat my phone. Things are running fine again, but some system or stock Huawei apps are missing, like calendar, clock, and calculator, to name a few.
Is there a way to download and reinstall these apps? And if so, are the downloadable apps already designed for Nougat on Huawei? Or are they from Marshmallow?
If there is no way to download stock apps, can I ask help to downgrade to Marshmallow? I'm planning to downgrade, and then tick back the Nougat update again from settings.
Thank you so much, guys!

Hi,
For work I have to use a few Microsoft apps on my phone. I had no problems with Nougat ROM but since I update to an Orea ROM the apps will crash. (I also have some problems with the GPS sometimes taking 1 or 2 minutes to work until I reboot, which did not happen with Nougat for me).
Should I go back to a Nougat ROM? If so, which one? It seems a lot of ROM have moved to Orea and have been abandonned on Nougat. Anyone have a ROM recommandation where the Microsoft apps would not crash and where there's no issue with the GPS?
For what it's worth, I'm currently on the Feb 2 version of Nitrogen OS.
Thanks

I just realised the dev of that ROM is quite active. I wasn't even thinking about trying a newer version of NOS but the comments I have read in the ROM are promising. I suppose I'll give this new version a try.
Yo! I updated my x92 android tv from 6.0 to 7.1 stock rom from x92 and the program is perfect but Hulu has stopped working.
Netflix still works when I put on my vpn (ExpressVPN) but Hulu for some reason keeps saying that the video is not available in my country.
Tried all 3 settings on Location settings and even used 2 different gps fakers with the VPN and even though google maps and all other apps work perfectly Hulu just won't.
Is this a nougat issue? Have the exact same settings as before.
hi sir... can you share the 7.1 stock firmware? and what method did you used?
i tried the sdcard method but it don't work with 7.1 firmware i downloaded... but i manage to update my x92 6.0 to latest 6.0 20170916 firmware using SD Card... but with 7.1 firmware its just stuck in BOOT ...
thanks in advanced...

It seems this device will ever get android 8 or 9.
Slower chipsets are getting Android 8 or 9,i don't understand why the S912 chipset hasn't got it also [emoji28]
Which apps are no longer working with the 7.1?

That's strange, because Netflix works in all my Android 7 boxes. My H96 Pro Plus included.
But I'm using a custom firmware on it.
Superceleron's SCV7 for the H96 Pro Plus.
Is the Netflix app not working or you just can't download it from Playstore?
If it is the second one, know that one cannot install Netflix from Google Playstore on rooted devices, and almost all android tv boxes are rooted. But... you CAN manually download the Netflix app from sites like apkmirror.com or apkpure.com.
If the newer versions don't work in HD, try Version 4.16.
Its seems I have 2 identical boxes but with different builds. Both H96 Pro Plus 3gb 32gb. S912
Build NHG47L.20170922 test-keys works with Netflix
Build NMF26Q.20170524 test-keys says Netflix need to be updated but then in Google Play Store it says its not compatible with this device.
Like i said, on rooted devices you cannot download netflix from google playstore, even if it is already installed.
You will have to download it from sites like apkmirror or apkpure.
There is newer firmware for the H96 Pro Plus , latest i am aware of is 20180409.
But it is always rooted firmware.
Thanks.
Where can I download the latest 20180409 firmware you mentioned?
Ideally without having to sign up for a MEGA account.

You don't need to have an account to be able to download. I got mine from there can't remember from which forum I got the link

I know nothing about Android 8, or 9 on H96 Pro Plus, but you should be able to find firmware in this Mega folder:
Code:
https://mega.nz/#F!8qhRRaYJ!2ZA3VLjvLT6wg0IwsTF27g
You will find roms, launchers and other tools there. Quite handy for our little tvbox - and you don't need a Mega account to download.
As for Netflix, I have no clue about the other rom versions as I too use NHG47L.20170922 test-keys build, but the way I coped with inability to install Netflix on various devices was to use some custom app store like ApkPure for example. Few months ago I used modified version of netflix apk, just to have better video quality (natively it was 480p, but looked quite horrible) - but it stopped working some time ago, so I was forced to switch to original one - from ApkPure store.
And if you're not satisfied with video quality (I haven't used netflix for some time, so I have no idea how's the resolution issue on L3 devices) - use Kodi netflix addon. It is really good in terms of quality - 560p I believe, but looks better.

I think the pre-installed version is really old.
It you prefer using the tv version of YouTube, i advise you to install smartyoutube (it's not on playstore) or you can install the regular phone android.

Hi I have an H96 proplus which isnt working for disney plus and i think it is because we dont have the firmware. I have got to the link posted above mega.nz... but dont actually know what to do next - can anyone post an idiots guide please?
Keep Android 7.1.1 on your H96 Pro+
My H96 Pro+ is about 5 years old and there is only one app that dont work on my box its the CW app.
Netflix works perfect up to version 7.42 so don't update your Netflix over version 7.42.
You don't have to root the H96 Pro+ it works better without root. You can update all your other apps with ApkPure
No matter how long time my tvbox is used without turning it of it never gets more than 45° i have mounted a fan with usb on it and i have modifiet it so it have 4xUSB ports i can watch 10 seasons i a row and it don't get hotter than 45°
I have try many boxes but none of them can compete with the H96 Pro+ it can use sd-card up to 512gb and i have never any problems with my box.
The build is NMF26Q. 20170422 test-keys. I have try to install Android 7.1.2 but it fu*kt up my box and this firmware has many errors so keep the 7.1.1 and remember to update all your apps except Netflix
Here is some pictures of my box.

Hi Mike, which firmware is no root?
I would like to install it, my box bricked yesterday after installing supersu.
Thanks in advance.
Hi. My H96 Pro Plus frequently goes blank and shows "No Signal". Sometimes it shows "Unsupported Device". These days it has started going off and on multiple times on its own, like it is possessed !
Is there a known solution for it?
Good news: Android 9 available for H96 PRO+ (Amlogic S912)
Hi, I hadn't turned on my H96 PRO + for a long time. It still had Android 6 and several apps not working. After some tests with 7.1.1 and 7.1.2 mod. I managed to install Pie. https://daivietpda.com/2020/07/rom-atv9-android-9-0-cho-amlogic-s912/
I had some difficulties because with burning sd card it stalled and with direct flashing through the burning tool the .img file failed in parsing.
I managed to install thanks thanks to "Amlogic_USB_Burning_Tool_v3.1.0" https://androiddatahost.com/fq58z with USB A-A cable and power supply connected.
ROM seems exceptional to me! Great! Also perfectly compatible with control devices and in particular with the G30 air mouse remote control, which can provide voice input for Google Assistant.
Right now I'm looking at beta2 version (just seen there is an OTA update). With that version the issues I found:
- very few compatible web browsers (Chrome, firefox, etc. not working): at the moment I have installed TVWeb
- Netflix update not working. I think it can be overcome by installing a suitable version. What version do you suggest?
- Unfortunately, some restarts in my opinion due to excessive heating: unfortunately I see that it reaches 72 ° C and around that temperature it restarts. It will therefore be necessary to find a solution to improve cooling or slow down the device. Tips?
Edit:
-flashed OTA v3: it's OK!
- disinstalled Netflix and installed Netflix_v7.59.1 build 27 34902 via apk: Working!
- Youtube (and channels) working
- Youtube Vanced working
Hi MediaTerraneo,
I am trying your solution, but it ends at 2%. I do not know which version of H96 I got but is the image universal or is it working only with specific boards?
Hi, at the source page https://daivietpda.com/2020/07/rom-atv9-android-9-0-cho-amlogic-s912/ you can find some fw for specific devices. Consider H96 can be with various hw; I have tested with Amlogic S912, ram 3gb.
Edit: Try to install from the Store an app that can discover your hw configuration.
Thank you very much for your quick reply. I got the exact same hardware (Amlogic S912, ram 3gb and 1000MBPS LAN). Can you write the name of the img you used at first place before upgrading to beta 3 over OTA?
I run an unofficial AEX OS on my Samsung J7 2016, I tried installing the apk recommended on Netflix's site but it shows a message saying this device is not supported by the app. The only solution I found so far is using a modded version of Netflix from 2017. I really want a newer version of the app, even if it's not the latest. Can anyone help me out
Netflix are indeed blocking users who are rooted or have unlocked bootloaders from downloading their app off the Google Play Store. Their latest 5.0.4 release also It's reported that it seems to remain fully functional on rooted/unlocked devices when the application is downloaded from a third-party source, and then installed.
