Hi everyone,
So I've got my Lumia 920, and I want to start developping some stuff... I registered to a developper account.
I'm working on Windows 7 (x64) computer, using Visual Studio Express for Windows Phone 2010.
WP8 SDK CANNOT be installed on a Windows 7 machine. So, no problem, I'll try with WP 7.1 applications.
The problem is:
- Zune CANNOT detect the lumia 920 on Windows 7 machine (maybe neither on a Windows 8 machine)
- Visual Studio NEEDS Zune to detect my phone in order to deploy application.
So basically, I just can't deploy anything on my phone on windows 7 can I ?

Yeah you're pretty much not able to do it. You can install Windows 8 as dual boot or in a VHD and do it that way. I don't think you can do it in a virtual machine because WP8 SDK requires to be installed on Windows 8 as the host OS in a Hyper-V environment. Easiest way to do it though is just to upgrade to Windows 8.

Thanks for the answer, that's what I thought... no real workaround then..
I'm using my work's computer, so I don't really have OS's choice (and having a W8 virtual machine running on it is not something I can consider)..
That's a shame though, that after buying a Lumia, buying a developper account, having a computer on Windows 7 I'm still unable to develop the way I want.. Anyway, nothing more to do except complain
I guess I'll just be coding at home.
You CAN deploy apps to WP8 on Windows 7 if you install Windows 8 as virtual machine. I have done this myself using VMWare Workstation.
Obviously, your PC have to support Hyper-V.
P.S.: You need to switch to "Exclusive mode" in the virtual machine and then Windows 8 will detect your USB connection.

That's good to know thanks !
Though I'm not sure my company would let me run a Windows 8 with my own licence on a VM. But maybe I'll find a way, thanks for the tip !
Can not install android x86 and 32-bit Windows 10 or Ubutu or Chrom Os. As an X86 configuration, I thought I could install another 32-bit OS. All you can do is Windows 10 64 bits and my old Android 5.0 based. Why do I have to install only Windows 10 on 64 bits when the tablet has 2 ram giga? Why can not I install another OS? Very bad marketing from Xiaomi.
After ending support for whatsapp on Windows Phone.
I search for a method to run it despite that, with installing a mod version or something ?
Or a method to convert the windows phone OS to android ?
Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra (Snapdragon 865).I have successfully managed to install and run Windows XP Professional 64-Bit and Xubuntu 18.04 i686 (32-Bit) on my phone with Limbo PC Emulator.
It runs without any issues but it is very slow as Limbo can only use a single core of my 8 core phone. I can't use KVM to use all 8 cores because I want to run x86 or x64 OS and not any arm OS (KVM only works if my device is of the same architecture as the emulated guest).
I just want to run Windows 10 (32 or 64 bit) on my phone with native performance (If possible). Is this possible or have my dreams gone too far? I am ready to even root my phone (or even to risk soft or even hard bricking my phone).
Thanks A Lot (in advance)
@DeveloperWithBrains
With regards to run Windows 10 in Limbo emulator:
Set
CPU-cores to 4
RAM to at least 1 GB ( if 32bit ) and/or to at least 2 GB ( if 64bit )

Can you share how to run it
Explain the full process for me because I want to migrate my system window 10 to window 11.
If your computer supports Windows 11 (you can check it using "Windows PC Health Check App").

You can upgrade using Windows Update. But if you are asking it here, i think you should not doing it by yourself... because you can make some mistakes with your system.
You need UEFI 64 bit Processor and TPM And (PC than support Windows 11)

And also intel cpu greater than 8th gen or Ryzen 3 (3rd gen or up) / Ryzen 5+ (2nd gen or up)
Yes.
I've had it running on my 2600k but didn't like it and went back to 10. Rufus is your friend. To hard finding drivers when I did it. January when I tried. Planning on waiting a couple more builds then trying it again. I mainly want Android Subsystem so I don't have to emulate
If you don't have the hardware to run it, there is a good build called ghost spectre. It's what I use and it's great.
