Hi, does anyone on this forum can answer to the following questions?
1. Does HTC maintain support for HTC m10 Lifestyle? (OS updates)
2. How is m10 Lifestyle's battery life? Better than HTC m10 or worse?
3. How does m10's little brother perform in everyday usage? (i'm not a smartphone gamer, i really don't play on mobile)
4. Can we disable unused apps to free up some space?
~PS. Thanks for your time.

Hey guys, i been recently offer a deal on craiglist about trading my htc hd2 for the htc g2.
I was wondering if this is a great deal.
I hate WM, and i am currently running android on my htc hd2. The problem is that its taking too much battery to run it. I like the idea of having a keyboard, yet swype seems a better choice to type in. The screen is much larger on the htc hd2, but hey i don't really need that big of a screen.
Help can't decide.
What are your cons and pros about this?
Thank you
I would stick to the HD2.
- The battery life is depending on which Andriod build you use. My battery last for about 30 hours without recharging.
- NAND install for Andriod is coming really close
- WM aint that bad. The Sence build of HTC makes it all good. Specially when you use a nice and shiny ROM of Miri and Dinik which will be updates with CHT2.0 soon and new skins.
- Swype comes with WM and Andriod, I trully like the touch screen more then a solid keyboard.
- There isnt a phone with better/ much better hardware specs then the HD2
- There isnt a phone with more capabilities then the HD2 (7 OS ports (wm6.x.x, WP7, Meego, Andriod, unbuntu, Win95, Win98, etc), fully changable ROMS, no fabrication limitations)
My conclusion is that there isnt a better phone then the HD2 at the moment. Maybe next year there will be some new phones which will be better. I'm curious about the dual screen mobiles which supports 3D. But how it will work and what the experience of those will be .. i have no clue

Dear all
I started with my Android experience about two years ago (a little more I guess) with the HTC Desire.
Now I have a HTC Desire HD (was lucky enough to win one) which is in use.
So, that means I only have real "experience" with HTC phones. Everything else is either from the phone shop looking at it and touching it for a few moments, but not really using it or the internet.
While I like both - the HTC Desire and Desire HD - I find the HD jus the maximum of size I would like to cope with. The Desire was in my humble opinion perfectly sized. Not too big, not too small.
Now, both phones will not see any updates (the HTC Desire is now somewhere in 2.2 and the HD got 2.3.5 or something) anytime soon, certainly not 4.x.
Is there a phone out there (I will not limit myself to HTC) around the size of the HTC Desire (3.7 inch display) which will get 4.x?
My search on the internet revealed many interesting ones, but all of them are at least the size of the HD (most of the time even larger!). Is there really no android phone out there with that size? Are they all getting newer AND bigger?
Before you ask: Yes, modding is an option. However, I was just unlucky and surely stupid enough that I can not manage to get CM working on the HTC Desire. While I think I managed to root it, the loading of the new mod fails and I get back to stock all the time...but that is a subject of another time
Thanks a lot
Regards
scheuri
Hmm... i believe i would just wait and see what comes out. The release of Android 4.0 devices just began and a lot of new devices are coming. So for right now, i would just stay with what you have till some new phones are released.
Please hit the thank you button if i helped!
Maybe picking up an unlocked Samsung/Google Nexus S is a possibility?
We have one here and I'm impressed with how fast and stable it is with Android 4.0. Plus, as a Nexus, it keeps on being supported with the latest/greatest updates as Google makes them available.
guys i am thinking of buying htc desire s .. but i want too root it with ics

why not HTC One V, it has similar but better hardware and ICS 4.0.
most important, it is cheap.

Cyanogen Mod 9?
In answer to your question yes ICS is available for the desire S in the form of Cyanogen Mod 9.
Whilst I know other roms are available such as Ice Cold Sandwich they all appear to be at least loosely based on CM9.
Although it is described as alpha I have installed it on both my desire s as well as a friends and it works without issue on both devices perfectly all of the hardware is now functional with the exception of the FM radio but there are plenty of online radio apps, or you could just use the MP3 player.
The only small issue you may encounter were problems with games such as temple run although this has been fixed in the latest release (09/05/2012)
I have owned the desire s for just under a year now, it is my first android phone but from experience of viewing friends phones it is still one of the superior android devices on the market. Whilst it does not have the dual core processor or huge amounts of ram of the current flagship phones there is a large community behind the device as there is the desire HD and Z. Therefore there are regular roms available for it. On another note in terms of the phones power, I have not found a single app or game my phone cannot run well including full 3d games such as the pocket version of Minecraft.
In terms of battery life after a year of use I can still manage about 2 days with sparing use and a sense based rom or a whole day with heavy use on a sense rom.
With the new CM9 I am managing 2 days of medium to heavy use and 4 days of sparing use. I believe this is due to the lack of the sense ui.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
Hello everyone,I am new in this forum; just joined before 30 minutes. I am a HTC one x+ user (6 days and counting).
Lets move to the topic, i am an new android user as well . Used to have a Nokia C7 for about 3 years (it was awful).
My question is: i LOVE sense which is provided with the phone international version (as living in Dubai,United Arab Emirates), I feel that it's kinda laggy or heavy on the phone. Whenever i open the page that shows how much RAM i am using , i always see it's about 750ish to 800ish. I really don't know any single thing about phones nor how to adjust them to make it faster although i am good at computers.
My question is how can i lower my RAM usage as well i would like to know how i can get the nice looking software that nexus 4 got?
Thanks for reading and any help would be appreciated.
OH one thing before i go any information about battery usage with you guys (HTC ONE X+ users)?

Welcome to the forum. Don't worry about occupied RAM on your HOX+. That's the way the Android OS is designed. Forget all what you are used to from Windows systems. Never kill app with the task manager to "free" RAM; it makes your phone sluggish and drains often battery. When is your phone laggy? If opening apps, if swiping between home screens?
BTW before you post next time search the forum first if somebody else has the problem you are looking for. It helps you finding the right answer and it helps keeping the forum organized.
Hello et welcome to xda board
This question asked many times in the HOX+ board and the answer is:
Android (as a system and specially the last versions) treat the RAM differently as from windows or ios or even symbian.
The android have 2 golden basic when treating RAM:
1. Free RAM = wasted RAM
2. More used RAM = More system stability and free of lags
And trust me, if you leave android treat the RAM alone (without use of 3rd party task manager or any ram manager app), you will never see your system out of memory even if used multitasking with 4 or 5 app in the same time (this is according to my personal experiences with 3 high-end android devices during the last 6 years)
And to answer your question about the battery of HOX+ also in this forum you will find may discussion about this subject but all depends on pure personal experiences and how they use their devices during the day, but for the 2nd time, for me with international device i found the battery time is amazing, with over 36 hours in mild use (call, check appointments and few emails), and 22-25 hours with mild use (call++, check emails++, check this forum, internet+, and another uses) and this is my case, or about 16-14 hours with heavy uses (games).
But at last it depends on your personal uses.
Thanks and welcome agains:thumbup:
Edit: it's clear that you have the answers to your questions before me .
So this is the main purpose (and for me i called it the spirit ) of this amazing forum.
Enjoy it

Thanks very much for your help! Sometimes it laggs when playing games "mostly" and sometimes swiping between screens.
Looking forward to hear other people's reviews and comments! A question which makes me worried all the time, IS rooting important for a phone? ( yes i've red many threads) but i still didn't get the right answer. The other question is, is is good to change the ROM from sense to any other kinds of ROMS?

Thanks so much sir! "Person learns new things every day" Now i can't worry about anythings at all. Next time i will search deeply in the forums to find my answers to my questions.
Hi
I'm new to android (but I'm tech savy, though) and I have a small request. I saw several request for my problem but I wasn't able to find any valuable answer anywhere.
I have my former phone wich is a HTC EVO 3D and I liked the keyboard on it. I would like to extract the files of the keyboard from it and transplant them into my new SAMSUNG GALAXY S III.
I would like to avoid "REPLACEMENT" suggestions (like use this or this 3rd party one I liked, etc) since I badly want SPECIFICLY this one and no other one.
So if a kind person can provide me with a simple tutorial on how to extract and transfer the files, I would appreciate a lot.
thanks
You rooted?
Not possible because HTC IME uses sense UI components. Alternatively can use smartkeyboard pro identical as HTC arrow keyboard.

No offense meant to you personally, but you like that piece of garbage? :what:
I agree with the previous poster about it not being possible. You could try to move the file he listed to /system/apps on the Samsung and try it (assuming you rooted, I'd nandroid first). But I doubt it'd work.
