My liquid remix rom is encrypted from the start, and I cannot disable it from within the rom.
So, what should I do to make it stay decrypted from henceforth?
Will disabling dm verity and force encryption at start would have avoided this situation?
And if encryption applies to internal storage too, what would happen to the internal storage when resetting the rom/ clean flashing another rom with recovery without wiping internal storage?
1. Backup storage via recovery to external sd/ USB
Format data from recovery (wipes internal storage too)
Make sure recovery disables dm verity and force encryption or just flash https://build.nethunter.com/android-tools/no-verity-opt-encrypt/
Optional : Flash magisk or supersu before reboot
Restore backups
2. Orange fox recovery disables dm verity and force encryption by default
but maybe at the setup stage, I messed up:
"Secure startup - You'll be asked to "further protect this device" by requiring your PIN, pattern, or password when your device starts. The first time that you choose this setting, it will encrypt your device. "
3. ...
I took out my sdcard and did format data on the internal storage and now i can't mount my sdcard in twrp. Didn't think about the fact that removing the encryption on the internal storage would make it unable to recognize the encryption on the sdcard afterwards. Is there any way to fix this? Or did I just screw myself?
When I reinstalled the rom and tried to boot it still asks me for my password which still works even though I can't boot because it says that the data is corrupted. But the encryption key should still be stored somewhere apparently. There must be a way to use it to decrypt the sdcard.

can you help me? I was in deodex 09/28 and went to mcaosp, gave full wipe and the whole procedure to install rom, but when I reboot / bootar it shows failure to decrypt. but I've never encrypted and put password for anything, I gave it again fullwipe including cache and internal storage, but still the same error
Edi1: Android starts normal, but asks password to decrypt how does this? I did not put any password
You need to format data partition, not wipe.
In wipe menu select format data, then have to type yes and tap enter.
It will erase internal also so backup first if you need to.
I'm on Android 10 (Xiaomi EU ROM - MIUI 12). My phone is encrypted, still I can access all my files inside /data partition and internal storage (which is inside /data too right?).
When I boot into TWRP recovery mode, it asks me for decryption password. If I provide password, it does decrypt, that's good.
BUT even if I don't provide password, still all files are accessible. how is that possible?
also if the device is not encrypted somehow (bug maybe?), then what exactly TWRP decrypt when I give the correct password?
I have the following problem with TWRP. When i boot to TWRP the language is set to chinese and the internal storage is 0. Also, no password is asked in order to decrypt the data. I tried to change the password (pin or phrase) and it didn't work. I have also tried the method that change the mount points and repair. Has anybody faced the same issue?
Which TWRP ? And what rom are you using ?
