Hi all experts,
I recently bought an Htc P3400i. Tried to uprade to WM6.1.
This is what i did...
1) Downloaded geneWM6.1...rar from this forum
2) copied the file genehspl.exe to root of my device
3) and my device screen went blank
4) After searching through the forum, i got to know that pressing and holding the camera button and resetting brings up the bootloader screen.
5) Thats it, i am stuck there...
What i tried...
1) I've searched through the forum and tries to solve the issue. Firstly, i tried using many roms, but it all ends up in error 300(invalid update utility)
2) I aslo tried mtty.
this is what i got...
Cmd>password BsaD5SeoA
BML_Open errornErr=0x800A0000)
BML_Open errornErr=0x800A0000)
Pass.

BML_open error
hi muneer,
don't panic. getting stuck at the tricolour screen is a common problem.
as for the bml_open error, have u disabled the active sync "allow usb " option?
thanks for the reply
hi, i followed the instructions, and disabled that option before using mtty.
it doesn't work. there must be some solution to it. especially the BML_open error.
Hi Mun ,
Did u get the solution for the problem as i am facing the same issue now .
thanks
Read Sticky
Firstly, when you upgrade your device you must be aware of the gene you are using. Is it new gene or old gene?????
Secondly, after knowing your gene you have to Hard SPL your device according to your device. It's kind of unlocking so that you can install third party (non official) ROM.
Then you should be aware of how the procedure to be followed to upgrade your device.
So, stop wasting threads and start reading sticky posts. Many people don't read stick and as a result they brick their device.
Read before you post, there are some members who have upgraded their device successfully with no problems at all and have read sticky post atleast 20 times before upgrading.
So please read sticky to get solution and post your queries in appropriate threads or in GENE question and answer.
Here is the fool proof solution
:start
1. Read the sticky threads
2. Again read the sticky threads.
3. Once again read the sticky thread.
4. Read the sticky thread once more.
5. Read the sticky thread last time, and
6. Start from 1st line again or u can say go to "start"
i m damn sure that this will help u in unbricking the device...

hello
I am looking for update.pkg for the dell venue. my phone it bricked, and to fix it i need the update.pkg.
thanks
I am having the same problem, please update i\us if you find a problem please
I really hope that XDA community will help us in here.I bought the Dell Venue from HongKong, and this happened straight after I came back to US. The bad part, dell has no idea about what I am talking about. The product does not exist to them, and I can no longer return it back to HongKong, so I ended up with a 500$ piece of brick.
An Advice: Never buy a Dell Product, EVER!
Help will be really appreciated from the smart XDA community.
abdallh7,
Where did you buy it from?
If it is sold in your country, can you call local dell in your country? Dell India, and Dell HongKong should have this file.

I am in the UAE but i bought the phone from Hongkong ?
please any way to get the files?
dell is not a bed company, and the phone is not bricked. It is only a file the bring the phone back to life.
thanks
I don't think Dell has rolled out any updates for the Venue other than what ships on it, so finding an update.pkg is going to be difficult. I have a Venue, so if you tell me what file you hosed, I can at least extract that file(s) for you, and perhaps someone smarter than me can make an update.zip that will replace that file for you.
Root
Has anyone been able to root their Venue? I received mine today and I'm looking for a way to root it. I tried SuperOneClickv1.6.1-ShortFuse that has several versions and none of them has worked. I get the following:
Killing ADB Server...
OK

* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
OK
Waiting for device...
OK
Pushing psneuter...

abdallh7,
this is the same exact case for me. Could you get a contact with Dell HongKong?
I tried calling them, but they told me that my device is out of warranty based on my service tag: 6VSPHN2 because the shop I bought it from seems to be did not register the purchase with Dell. I have never heard of this before, but seems Dell is really missing stuff up.
My dell venue version is: GTOUB1A130211
What is your dell Venue version and Service tag? Can you call Dell HongKong to get any information for the device? Do you want me to call dell Hong Kong for you?
I hope Dell will be helping us with this.

I totally understand, ebaul, the problem is when you change any of the frameworks can easily render the device useless. The problem is not the rooting, the problem is it can help you screw up the device. If you can help us to find the update.pkg or a way to help us this will be great, as this can represent a point to go back.
Any help is seriously appreciated.
Isn't it located on the SD like the streak? I thought they had the Update.pkg on the SD. I find it foolish to not include a way to recover the system. I contacted Dell Support and complaint about the Venue looping and not been able to access it, requested the location to download the software but all they said is send it back for a replacement. I'm not having issues with mine, I just wanted to see if they give up the location of this file which I'm sure they do have but no luck. Sorry

sha256sum all files on the prime and the ones on your pc. at least those you can check.
if you're really keen on this, make the backups several times with nvflash (the last ones, factory-config, unlock-token and bricksafe), then sha256 them.
