Ok, so I have this problem with my leeco le max 2 that I cant use wifi for some reason. So I installed a custom rom to see if that helps but it didn't do a thing so I am guessing that its a hardware problem. Now I want to send my phone back to the retailer but flashing apparently voids the warranty. So my question is if I can flash a stock x829 rom to my phone and make it look like I didn't do a thing with it . I know its not completely legal but I am really desperate right now . Or can I just flash a different stock rom e.g. x820 because I haven't been able to find a x829 one.
Thanks in advance

Hi, I am in Canada and just received my new Max 2 x829 and wonder if it is worth it to update the stock ROM or it is working well, I am not an expert and the instructions to update the ROM is complicated to me, however, if the update will solve issues or improve the phone performance, then I might try to follow the instructions.
Thanks in advance for your help,

If you don't update and still using the 16S you will probably get a dead fingerprint sensor.

I have a couple x829 and tried most roms, the best one for me was the stock rom that came with the phones, hands down not even close 2nd.
Heyyo fellow Canadian, so sadly the "international" firmware and ROM it comes with is modified and only built to work on that one version of EUI so it will never receive updates.
The ROM I'd recommend for stability and functionality? Resurrection Remix Marshmallow. That or as others have said Mokee is good.
X829 devices will need a new modem firmware flashed in order for the fingerprint reader to work properly with other ROMs and to try and avoid camera issues and so fourth because the modem firmware definitely does more than modem.
Thanks castuis for your advise, I was thinking to stay with the rom that came with the phone but I had a fear that after setting up the phone adding apps and spend too much time, then the time will come when I have problem and I have to flash the phone with another rom and start over, it is very confusion when my many people talking about changing the rom that come with the phone to solve issues and them you are saying the the best rom is the one coming with the phone, so for how long you are using your phone and do you use the fingerpring reader? how is the camera performance? Did you try the Indian rom 19s (this is the one I am thinking about now)?
ThE_MarD, does the Resurrection Remix Marshmallow have over the air update or you need to do it manually every time? What is the modem firmware?
Okay so as title says i recently bought a LeEco Le Max 2 X829 from gearbest. I had a few questions and was hoping someone here could help =).
I have searched but didn't seem to find much to help me. Well first i was wondering if i should just leave it on the rom i receive from gearbest or is that a bad idea, Also was curious if the phone would work with h2o, It has all the bands but just wanting to get verification from someone else. Thanks.
Hello @AdcMainVayne,
As far I'm concerned this phone works in most European countries and the only band that does not work is LTE Band 20, but the rest should work just as expected. When it comes to the stock firmware available on the X829, I recommend you to install a custom rom like Cuoco92, because of that the stock rom on the X829 receives no updates and comes with a very outdated version of EUI. The link to the Fastboot package for Cuoco92 can be found here.
I would flash the latest Indian ROM after wiping everything since online Chinese retailers are known to add trojans/viruses/etc. Besides the X829 ROM is abandonware and won't get any updates ever.

Flashing the indian rom for this phone would kind of not be very worthwhile as it runs on an older version of EUI and as far as I'm concerned it also runs on an older security update, so flashing a CN-based ROM with gapps would be ideal in most cases,
Thanks for the replies, I guess Cuoco92 is the best custom rom to choose from in your opinion?

If you're looking for a rom that's stable and runs EUI, I would definitely recommend Cuoco92.

I would try official linage, Resurrection remix, MIUI rom. Once you get your bootloader unlocked and TWRP installed you can try any of them. I really hated eui stock rom. Also with h2o you might have to go to a store or call them to have them add your IMEI Sim slot for service.

I see yeah ive been reading about the custom roms a bit today, guides etc. Are there any issues you've experienced with the rom's you've listed by any chance?

Sound and camera issues on rr and linage. I mean everything works and buttery smooth. Antutu 150,000 score on rr. I'm on Miui8 7.4.2.4 now I really like how smooth it is. No sound issues. Pretty stable. Kind of similar to eui. It's a a port not official. Android 6. But really like it a. Lot. Kind of hard to get it working the first time. Small eui just lags to much for me.
Crazy fast LTE and I'm on metro pcs.
So I could only find a x820 (chinese?) version to purchase. Do I need to install another rom for a better experience or will the stock rom it comes with be fine? I haven't recieved the phone yet so I'm not sure how it is but I want to be prepped before I get it since it's a gift. And If so, what should I be installing and could you provide a link?
Cheers
Definitely install a new ROM. You can find the links in Guides section, although I would go with the Crisbalgreece ROMs or Cuoco92 as they are debloated. These are in the ROMs section. If you still want to go fully stock, 26s Chinese is ok.
Hi can anyone help. I have a Le Max2 x829 with intermittent fingerprint recognition. Reading on the web I believe there is an update? My problem is that if there is an update how to I update as there is no 'software update' in the menus.
Any suggestions?
Cheers Chris
Heyyo, I also own an x829... and I'm sorry to break the news to you but that NA 5.8.016s build of EUI ROM is garbage. YouTube randomly freezes, VoLTE is unstable (I couldn't test it since no VoLTE in Canada for my carrier heh) and other bugs like notifications not working on some third-party apps because of the over-aggressive low memory killer settings...
The real bummer? The NA 5.8.016s build has software updating disabled in both the ROM and the recovery.... so the only way to switch EUI ROM versions or to any custom ROM is to unlock your bootloader, flash a different version of EUI ROM recovery or TWRP.
Here's the guide I used back in the day and it worked perfectly for my x829.

Good luck!
Oh, if you want to switch to a custom ROM? I recommend flashing a newer firmware version.

Fingerprint Issue
Hi. Cheers for the info. Looks a bit complicated. Might give it a try as long as I don't brick my phone.
Hello i am avin .I am a student ,this birthday my parents buys me a LeEco Le Max 2 x821. It is very good phone . But I don't like it's stock rom so i tried a few custom rom based on nougat but i was facing camera focus issue so i go back to stock rom and camera is working perfectly fine . So i decided to install small eui and again the camera was not working properly. So i went back stock rom . But from here the real problem happened my camera was not working on stock rom also i tried different stock roms but still it not focusing. And after this worst happened now even the ois is not working now when i open the camera it begins to shakes and makes werid clicking noise Please help me as my parents are not going to buy me a new phone please help me.
Heyyo, hmm unfortunately it sounds like camera focusing issues is sometimes due to firmware upgrades from EUI ROM... Thus far I haven't seen a good method or guaranteed way to upgrade firmware on the camera after these focus issues arise...
Just to double check have you even gone back to stock EUI Recovery and then used the update.zip method to "install" your EUI ROM?

No problem at all!
I'd recommend sticking with official EUI ROM builds and not custom ones when attempting this.
I'd recommend backing up anything important off of the phone as of course data loss is a serious risk.
What I would do is use a PC to download Indian 19s and flash that via TWRP as it should overwrite even the recovery partition. You can find 19s Indian in the EUI ROM firmware thread.
Once that's done? Try flashing the EUI ROM 28s for the Le Max 2 from here using that update.zip method

Hopefully this gets it going!
The camera is a huge issue. My LeEco Le Max 2 is now my daughter's game pad - the camera stopped focussing, and it turned out it was a hardware defect. It dies quickly. Replacing it is really difficult.
I own a Nokia now. I want a camera that works.
