While travelling I found a RED MI Note 3 device which was left unattended to... however there was no sim recovered from it and the phone is pattern locked out... Now I don't know who this device belongs to as its pattern locked and without a sim... Any way I could have this device flashed and use it? I am a Samsung user and never used an MI before... Can someone help please?
I think you should use more generic forum, like Android General Q&A, and try reddit. However, I don't think there is much that can be done...
But check if this device has custom recovery. If it does have, then you could try something via adb.
Hello,
Yesterday I purchased a Redmi Note 5 Indian Unit which is on MIUI 9.5 Global on 7.1.2 Nougat.
I wanted to flash lineage os for the phone as I truly hate MIUI skin. But unlocking a bootloader makes a big problem, when I tried to unlock the bootloader; It tells me to wait for 360 hours, I went through all the threads here, but none helped me, I tried the bypass method with 2 different accounts but that does not work as well, maybe because MI stated that users no longer need permission to unlock. Please help me to unlock my bootloader, I cannot live with a MIUI, and there is no point in using the phone because in 15 days I will have to format the device again after unlocking the bootloader, so please help me. I have Indian Unit of the phone, so if that is what makes the problem, please tell me.
Reply ASAP.
follow the thread NO ERROR 86006 in guides section. u just need a new account and 5 min of spare time.

I tried with two accounts that worked for me 2 weeks before. First account you bind and apply for bootloader unlocking. After that, make sure your device is identified in mi cloud web. Find my device option. And after you got 360 hours wait. Create a new account and login into it in phone. Go back to bootloader and now it will unlock. I hope this method will work now.

Unfortunately, no. You can try removing that device from the list of devices of your MI Account and try adding again to check. Also, try an older version of Mi Unlock tool. Using a Chinese VPN to request unlock permission might also work. The key to make it happen is to keep trying at regular justified intervals with a combination of what I told you and you are sure to have your device unlocked. Good luck!
[P.S. Kindly name your title in a proper manner. How is someone in a hurry supposed to know where you need help?]
Hi there, so recently I bought a Redmi Note 4x from a Chinese seller in an online shopping store on our country.
I opened it up to see MIUI 8 but all in Chinese, though I managed to get it to English. Got it upgraded (OTA) to MIUI 9 and 10 global stable.
When I try to unlock the bootloader (new method), I always get error 20091 on Mi Unlock Status, even though my account has been binded to my phone.
I even tried Mi Unlock tool, but it returns an error after hitting 99% *see attachment (63)*.
I'm really puzzled by this since I just found out the phone wasn't an official global version. (Thru xiaomi product verification) so I decided to try and do something about it. I even tried shifting from Global stable to Global developer, still no luck, the same errors appear on Mi Unlock status and Mi Unlock app.
I even went as far as disassembling the phone and forcing it into EDL test point mode, and then flashing global developer fastboot rom via MiFlash as stated on this guide https://c.mi.com/thread-1479882-1-0.html but still I cant unlock my bootloader and the same problems appear.
UPDATE: I also tried using an unofficial unlock tool (which made my shift from global stable to global dev possible) but the xiaomi unlock server returns me error 20038 *see attachment (64)*
I really need some help since I want to unlock its bootloader and mod this phone.
Ps. btw, I even tried using different Mi Unlock tool version, but still got the same set of problems.
That link you shared is very good. I'm really surprised that it didn't work for you.

I'm even surprised it didnt work....maybe it has something to do with my hardware itself. I do think my hardware isnt made by xiaomi, since when I opened it up, only thing I saw (that i think made by xiaomi) is the battery....does it ring any bells?
Did you solve the problem? I have a Redmi Note 8 and the xiaomi server is responding with the same code:/

Error 20091 on Mi Unlock Status was a cause of the situation that your phone was binded to another Mi Account (probably the first owner of your phone if you bought it on the cheap). This altogether explains why I have that weird chinese error with something like a Mi Account ID in the error message in Mi Unlock. Error 20038 is also the same problem in the case of the XiaoMi Unlock Tool unfortunately.
The only way to resolve this would be to ask the previous owner of the phone to unbind the phone from his/her Mi Account and then trying to bind again, at least that's what I read on Mi Community Forums (Reference: https://in.c.mi.com/thread-1731805-1-0.html)
I also have error 20091 on my phone now.... trying to unlock the bootloader.
Really hoping to see ways to solve it.
Hello. I have a Redmi Note 4 Snapdragon 64 GB which I bought used and the last user didn't log out before doing a fabric restoration and I cannot unlock the bootloader and I get an Error 20038 in XiaoMiTool-V9.11.10 (Error 20091 on Mi Unlock).
I have downloaded mido_global_images_8.12.20_20181220.0000.00_7.0_global_3947ba5143.tgz (mido_developer_fastboot), modded rawprogram0.xml, added persist.img, entered in EDL mode (with testpoint) and flashed and when starts for the first time i get a message that says "This device is locked" and "Activate this device" but I have not the original account used to bind it.
Then, now I am in a worst scenario because I didn't get to UBL and I cannot use it with MIUI. Now it is a bricked device.
Any idea of how I can get out of this situation?
Thank you very much

I think the best course of action here is to ask the person whom you bought the phone from for help. If you are from Philippines and bought RN4X from Lazada on some cheap deals, then you've got a big problem returning it nor getting help from the seller.

The person who sold me the mobile says that he doesn't know who created this MI account and then is not possible to do the unlock in the proper way. I have a mobile phone that has a key to protect it but I have not the key and the person who sold me neither.
What about this? https://romprovider.com/bypass-mi-account/
Hi
I've recently tried to unlock my redmi note 3. I followed the instructions to the letter but I think its not worked because I'm on the last version of miui for the phone and I'm guessing the bootloader unlocker isn't compatible with the last version of miui. The phone is now stuck in "This device is locked" and the partial Mi account listed isn't the one I registered to the phone, although the phone number is correct. As a result I can't log into my account as I changed my number over a year ago.
Basically does this mean I need a new phone or can anyone help. I've read a previous guide on xdadevelopers from 3 years ago for someone who said their device is locked but the links on youtube don't appear to be working now.
