i have rn4 with rr (stock kernel). i make pattern that i use to secure my phone during booting.. but i can't remove / change it (even after changing my pattern lock to another one)
any advices or workarounds? *noob here*
Reflash ROM .
If you are talking about the lockscreen pattern you can disable it by using the twrp > advanced > file manager. Just go to data/system and delete all the files whose name starts with lockscreen( there will be 3 files lockscreen.db and two other with the same name and different extensions).Just delete them anf you are good to go.
But, if you have encrypted your phone and set password during boot then you have to format your data using twrp which will remove your encryption.
Cheers.
same problem here, can't change or remove the damn pattern.. wtf?

I may have edited something wrong in build.prop and now my phone won't load after the SONY logo. I would push a stock build.prop if I had CWM but apparently I lost that after following steps to root JB with locked bootloader. All I have now is fastboot and flash mode.
Is there any way to push a file and set permissions using one of these modes? I can reflash ICS and do everything all over again but if I could just push a stock build.prop I think I can avoid the long way.
PS. Can I also get help putting CWM on this phone? I wanna keep bootlock 'coz I'm a purist like that. Lol! :silly:
do any of these modes support mounting \system and \data ??

No, but fastboot can flash an update.zip according to a wiki. I don't think that's the same as a regular flashable zip is it?
Bump 'coz it's really getting tiring to reflash from zero when just one file needs editing.

I ended up with reflashing only SYSTEM partition via Flashtool (don't forget to uncheck "Wipe DATA"). You are going to loose any modification of "/system" (e.g. root) but at least you won't loose your settings, apps and data.
Running sense 5 rom version y5... situation : I play a game called imobsters so I need to copy files (.tff files) into system/fonts folder.. I do it everything copies.. I mounted as rw when I did an even tried this method: drag files to any folder on your internal memory. boot into recovery, mount data n system, go to file manager n look for your files, click on the files n move it to system/font. wipe cache, reboot

Get Rom toolbox and go to the interface section and click on fonts. Now click Local fonts. Now you want to find the font you want on your SD card and install them in a click. So Simple. Much Easy. Fast. Such amazement. Wow. (Doge meme hahaha)

If it is jrummy boot animations the backup file will be in sdcard/romtoolbox/bootanimations/. Boot into twrp and select mount. Make sure system is checked. Then go back to home and select advanced. Then file manager. Navigate to your backup boot animation and copy it to /system/media/. Then navigate to /system/media/ and select your file. Rename to bootanimation.zip. (if it is named something else) Then chmod. Type in 0644 and swipe. Then reboot and it should boot.

I can't figure out where it puts it by default but ot has the option to choose where to backup. That doesn't help us much, though but I have a couple of ideas.
1. Chmod 0644 the current animation installed in system/media. (Usually the permissions are the problem.)
If that doesn't work...
2. Delete bootanimation.zip from /system/media completely. This should let it boot and it will display the default built-in bootani. Which is just android with like a shine.
If that doesn't work...
3. I can give you a bootanimation that you can put in system/media to get it to boot.

also send me the boot animation i can try that
I understand. A lot of the time, it is an error in the desc.txt file inside the bootanimation. There is a way to code it to where it will repeat a certain part of the animation until the device boots, but on a lot of devices...including my tablet it will just hang and never boot.
We need to either delete bootanimation completely or try a different one. The only other possibility is dm-verity, but if your bootloader is unlocked that shouldn't be the problem.

Yes, as long as it isn't there in /system/media it will bypass it. If it is the desc.txt that is the problem the device should boot.

Should be. The main thing was making sure system was checked, cause if not the file managet won't show anything in the system partition.

Need Help!Twrp password not working, cant access storage.any solutions???
Same issue, not solved!
Hello,
I have the same problem. It took me all day to finally install twrp recovery since I hadn't turn USB debugging on. I finally was able to do it and i deleted the 5 password files - but now my phone is in a bootloop. I wiped the usual data like Dalvik and cache, but it didn't change a thing.
Also, after I deleted this and took a lot on my File Storage, and navigate to /data/system, where i deleted the password files, there is NOTHING but one thing called "storage.xml".
What am I supposed to do now? I dont know what to do anymore, I have so many things already.

Flash a new Rom . Or you can ask for files in data/system from anyone to upload it on cloud from there you can download and copy those files into system folder it might work without losing a byte of data.

I found a solution now, it didn't boot because of the DM verity. I installed a package to solve that via installing in twrp and then it worked, but all my data was gone.
Just flash this file with the TWRP and you're done!
The file is not mine, it was extracted from the PitchBlack Recovery Project.

I'm sorry for uploading the file to mediafire but I could not upload it directly to XDA

Dunno if it's possible to directly flash it by TWRP, but I'd suggest you to try this before flashing; take a nandroid backup, first of all. Now, using a root explorer, browse to /version/special_cust/BLN-L21/hw/eu/media (that's the path where i took bootanimation from, obviously if you're on another build variant you could find different model codes like BLL-L22, ecc. or just different paths) and move the zip into the media folder. Reboot and check if it works. If not, flash it by TWRP.
Edit - remember to change permissions to rw-r-r if moved to the folder with a file manager
