Hi, it's nice to join your community.
I need someone who has a lot of knowledge of Android. I'm desperate.
Yesterday I clicked on users settings (Android.7) and I was about to one guest user but I saw that it had to be configured and I passed and I left it. Now apparently, although I am logged as owner I do not have permission for almost anything as if i were a guest user. The problem is that users tab do not respond when clicking . I click and nothing happens (in theory I would have to click here and select the correct user but is seems that User settings are not enabled ).
The quick settings bar can not be deployed , the user icon is not displayed. The Start button has no function. Off button does not display airplane mode, developer tolls are not enabled anymore....
There must be some way to recover the privileges of user and return to the original User without having to do a hard reset ...

A while ago I found a tip somewhere on how to get to some additional hidden android browser settings including how to change the user agent string so that the browser would identify itself as a desktop browser or iPhone browser while surfing.
This setting is reset between sessions, I didn't use it frequently and eventually forgot how to go about making the change.
Recently I had a need to access these hidden browser settings again and it took quite a long and frustrating search effort to finally locate this information which does not seem to be widely publicized. So, in an effort to save anyone else this trouble, I figured I would post the information on how to do this on a couple Android boards that I frequent and also include a few words that might be picked up as search terms for anyone else trying to find this info. The procedure is very simple. I currently have an HTC Sprint Hero running Android 1.5, so I'm not sure what other devices or builds this will work on...
Open the Android web browser. In the address bar enter 'about:debug' where you would normally enter a URL and hit enter or Go. Be sure to erase the 'http://www.' that the browser likes to leave in the address bar for you. No page will load and you may or may not get a pop-up message 'Debug mode'. But if you now go to Menu > More > Settings in the browser and scroll to the bottom of the list, you should see a new group of options under the 'Debug' heading. The bottom setting is 'UAString' and if selected will give you the option of enabling your browser to identify itself as Android, Desktop or iPhone. Results after making this switch have been mixed, but go ahead and give it a try if you have a need to. I'm not sure what the other options do, so use at your own risk.
Feel free to leave a reply if you found this information helpful, or if it does or does not work on your particular device / build.

way to go, thank you for the information. might come in handy.
Hello everyone !
I have a problem that may have been addressed many times before. I do apologize, but the search didn't bring me needed answers. I also apologize for any bad english.
Here is the deal :
I am concerned with the "background data" the android os transfers via my mobile internet.
I rooted the phone, cleared all the useless .apk's from /system/app folder (even removed google play and as much of google stuff as i could), installed DroidWall and set very strict firewall rules ...
And still when i open data usage in settings menu, i see "android os" transfered 6.6mb in past 20 days. WHAT is that stuff ?!
I only use internet for stock e-mail, naked browser, internet radio, and wolfram alpha. Only those 4 applications should ever use the internet. I wish that not a single byte of data is ever EVER transfered besides the needs of these 4 applications. I do not want "Android Os" or any other background process connecting to any server on the internet "behind my back".
I am not very experienced in android os. But if it is required, i will learn how to flash another rom, to cook rom, learn and do anything i can to take COMPLETE control of the bandwith, if it is possible. Is it ? If it is, the main question and the reason i posted this thread is : HOW ? Just please do not assure me that that data is nothing to worry about, or ask me why do i care. If you can say nothing about solution, you can not help me.
The device is 2011 Xperia Pro (mk16i) and android version is 4.0.4
Thanks in advance !
There are some data between your phone and google server. Recall some phones have feature to disable background data. Not sure whether your phone have it.
You could try some tool to monitor what application creates link.

Thank you for your reply !
There is a built in tool "Data Usage" in the settings. It shows the 4 applications that i use with internet + Direct Push that checks email from microsoft server + Android OS in the list as well. I guess all the stuff going on "behind my back" is packed into Android OS. What tool do you suggest ?
There is "restrict background data" option. But when i select it - i get the warning that some apps will not work unless connected to wifi. The last part of this warning indicates to me that Aroid Os will still send the data. But only when connected to wifi. And i dont want it ever to send any data. Why would any data be sent to google server ? I disabled all synchronisation with google ...
You could also use the tool network monitor https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jmm.networkmonitor which wrote by my friend. It could find which application using your network. And could display the peer address.
I think some google application such as gtalk service are connecting google server background. No choice.

Hi,
So there is this user which upon opening some apps is encountering a request to turn on the GPS and start sharing information with google.
Is there some way to disable the user access to the options through this request?
I mean, I still want him to be able to activate his location component when necessary, but I don't want it to be that easy. I want him to go directly to options-> location-> activation button, instead of just mindlessly poking the screen, conforming with the apps directions.
Thank you.
hm?

yup...
First, my English is not very good. So my expression could have been worse.
My phone is currently locked. (Pattern lock). I can not remember my pattern lock. I want to recover my data on my phone. Because of this. I do not want my phone to format. How you can help me on this topic.
Details...
I have one xperia z1. I've been using for two years. I never use my phone screen lock. However, the following events took place after the update, lollipops. Different users can be defined in Lolipo version. I suddenly asked me to guest users from passing their users to lock pattern. I kept thinking I choose to use a random key. I do not remember the reason for being late to lock up the following night. Phone certainly is not stolen. Of course, it gives you the possibility to prove the turkey unfortunately not available. We searched the forum and have solutions include sites around the world.
1- 5 times or higher test pattern lock my google password certainly does not ask me or a different security password.
2- Sony - I contact the turkey, but says the installation of new phone software.
3- I entered Google Play account. Android Device Manager tab from the "find my phone" was working. Because I do it in my google account settings
4 USB debugging mode can not turn my phone off because it is the pattern lock. Guests at this property for the user is not active. This is a solution in series
5. I can not phone in recovery mode. I asked Sony turkey. They said that you need to enter the unlock pattern inside. He did not believable.
I present in very beautiful and precious photos of my phone. (I do not use SD card) Please help me. I do not want to take phone format: (((
I can not run the USB debugging mode. For this reason, I can not link below.

Hello
My phone is currently locked. (Pattern lock). I can not remember my pattern lock. I want to recover my data on my phone. Because of this. I do not want my phone to format. How you can help me on this topic.
The Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 does not come with multi-user, so I've been trying to set it up so my family can actually share the tablet without kid-adult conflicts. I'm running Android 5.1.1
As suggested in a number of forums, I've rooted the device and modified build.prop to include:
fw.show_multiuserui=1
fw.max_users=8
The two lines of code are in the build.prop file after rebooting the tablet and "pm get-max-users" in adb shell returns 8, so the two lines of code are in there. However, there is no multi-user icon either next to the settings on the lock screen or the swipe-down menu (next to settings icon, where I hoped it would be). So I cannot add or switch users.
I've tried manually adding users through the adb shell using "pm create-user [username]" with no luck...they may exist in the back-end somewhere, but as a tablet user I can't see them.
I've tried rebooting several times, removed screen lock, and eaten a bunch of chocolate but nothing seems to work.
Any help would be much appreciated!
same issue for S8-50 running 5.0.1. actually the profile section can be found in settings if search for 'profile' . from there the user can also be switched but that's about it - no ability to switch between users in lockscreen
I bought two tab3 10" 16GB for the kids for xmas, and they had a "Users" entry in the settings, but no user avatar in the quick settings.
It seemed pretty good, so I bought another of the 32 GB version for myself and my wife and that has neither. However, I was able to set up user accounts for us by searching for users in the settings menu, so it appears to be there. Unfortunately, it doesn't allow any sane way of switching users, since one has to be logged in as a user to do it... It cannot possibly be considered a good idea to do this, it has to be a bug...
I'd be very interested in a solution to this problem too.
any findings an that so far? How to "search for 'profile'" Am on tab 2 a8-50f, with mentioned changed in build.prop but no options in settings
It is actually as simple as kjekje suggests.
Open the settings tab. Instead of scrolling up and down and looking in every submenu for a "users" section like i did, just click the magnifying glass icon and search for "users". Seems like Lenovo have just hidden it from the menu.
Further broken in 6.0.1
I just upgraded the tablet to 6.0.1 yesterday, as it was pushed by the usual channels. Figured it couldn't make it any worse. It did
Now, if I search for users, I can switch to a restricted user, but I cannot switch back, because there's no option for it when I search for it in restricted mode.
So, I would still be very interested in a better solution to this problem? The only good solution is to be able to switch users when the screen is locked. Anybody found anything by further digging?
I don't know why on earth Lenovo is doing this to us. Perhaps they figure we will buy another tablet if there's no multiuser...? But it surely won't be a Lenovo, they ought to understand that.
