Hi guys,
A while back I rooted my Galaxy S3 gt-i9300 international and loaded the S4 Revolutionairy ROM onto it which worked perfectly.
This weekend I decided to flash a new ROM since I have a new phone now and I want to give this one to my girlfriend to replace her old S2.
First I had to upgrade CWM to flash a 4.4 ROM and so I did via Odin. No problems here.
If I perform a wipe data/factory reset it says it can't mount the data partition. A manual mount also gives back an error. If I do load a ZIP file from the external SD card it gives back an error that it can't access data partition, error 7
Looking around I find dozens of people with similar problems but not exactly the same. So I'm a little afraid I make the wrong decision here. The phone keeps booting fine in the S4 Revolutionary ROM but of course the factory reset part did work so every time I have to log into my Google account.
I think I have to flash a factory ROM via Odin first, so basically revert it back to stock completely. Anyone out there who can point me in the right direction or has a better idea?? Thanks!
Did you tried to flash TWRP recovery 2.7.x and then try to install a new rom.Download the latest version of recovery directly from TWRP website

No. Since the galaxy s1 I use cwm.
But it's worth a shot. I'll keep you posted.will try this later on.

Flash latest Cwm but i am afraid that Odin and stock rom will only work. More work but not that much
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Free mobile app
I don't like to flash with CWM. There's no way to flash with Philz Touch? Use it, way better. When people ask me to flash a custom ROM, I use Philz. It's prepared make a factory reset and prepare your phone to a new ROM without problems.
But if you're going through with CWM, I suggest to get the lastest version and try again.
It worked fine with TWRP 2.7.1.0
I really love it, looks very good, lots of options and just really working fine!
I just flashed the Liquid Smooth ROM with Android 4.4.4. My phone is really really fast now!
Thanks a lot
Hi,
I flashed Carbon ROM 4.4.4 you can find it here
Or dowload directly from here.
The Google Apps can be download from here, I used the Nano version, only the Google base, Google services and Google search are incorporated so byebye Google+ and al unwanted stuff, Google Now is in there though but the complete package comes in at only 57 MB which saves a lot of space, Gmail and YouTube can be downloaded from the Play store.
I'm really impressed by this ROM, it's really fast, everything works including both camera's, bluetooth in my car works flawlessly (connects faster then ever), battery life is also really good so far, took it from the charger 7.30 this morning and used it quite a bit till now (15:00) and still at 77%. Wifi is working fine and GPS connection is really fast (had to figure out first they use another icon for GPS now and it's on the right on the taskbar now).
A lot can be customized as well but I also installed Xposed now for even more freedom.
I can really recommend it, I like it more than CM (which I also really like) but that's personal.
PS I'm a big fan of the TWRP recovery now. It's really so much better than CWM and much much more intuitive.
I just rooted my phone (Samsung S6 Edge [SM-G925P] running Android 6.0.1) this Friday and I have a couple of questions about using the CyanogenMod ROM and installing Xposed. To note, I am pretty, pretty new (I literally just rooted 2 days ago.
So my question about CyanogenMod is will it run on my rooted Samsung and is it dedoxed? I already have TWRP and SuperSU flashed and installed on my phone.
And my question about Xposed is will it run on my phone, as well with CyanogenMod, TWRP and SuperSU? I tried installing it with the original ROM on my phone, but that provided to be disasterous since it soft-bricked my phone, but I heard that was because my ROM was deodexed.
Hi NovaViper ! It depends. Cyanogenmod and other ROMS can come in two flavors: odexed or deodexed. The one on the official Cyanogenmod Website is deodexed. If you go on Cyanogemod's official website they don't have a ROM for Samsung Galaxy S6 / Edge. Check it out: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/ Look at the left to see supported devices. Unfortunately, it's not there. Some Galaxy S6 / Edge models do support Cyanogenmod but as for your model the SM-G925P there is still no official support for CM ROM. Check this link out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...development/cyanogenmod-13-galaxy-s6-t3269984 Just out of curiosity, why do you want to install CM on your device?
I want to try CM because I heard it offers full customization.. I really would like to customize the lockscreen and colors of the UI especially and because it is deodexed, so I can also add Xposed. I have another ROM atm called Mostly Stock (its based on ROM but its deodexed and have a few changes to the stock UI, BUT it still has the parts I hate about the stock ROM). I specifically want CM because I haven't found any other ROM that offers full customization, deodxed for Xposed, and most importantly, is not like the stock ROM.
Oh, also with CM, I tried to install it but it said my device isn't support.. I tried the one from the link
If you want a full stable ROM for Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and XPosed on it I would recommend this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/development/rom-carhdrom-1-t3111519. My friend has it on his ROOTED S6 Edge and it offers even more customization's then Cyanogenmod plus you can install XPosed on it. Give it a try.
Thanks I already flashed it but I notice that it isn't responsive to touch. I can interact with the buttons but no response to touch whatsoever. Seems like there isn't a ROM that works with my SM-G925P, the edge that rom works with is a G925F
Hmm, I thought it would work on your model. Try this: http://androidfreeroms.com/renegade-android-m-6-0-1-aroma-rom-sprint-samsung-s6-g925p/
I got the rom flashed and running.. but i cant seem to restore my messages from the samsung backup.. i can only get them from Textra (which doesnt export them). Also, i cant receieve text messages either.
Well, I finally got my messages backed up but.. I notice something else now. I had installed Xposed, which ended up giving me a bootloop and I had to factory and data reset, and reflash my stock rom. then I installed TWRP and then Renegade, but the mobile data isn't working anymore. Its just black the black bars.. I can't even find the Mobile Data enable button anywhere. (It works on stock rom though). To point out, mobile data WAS working before I installed Xposed. Right now, I'm reflashing my stock rom and seeing if it works.
--UPDATE 1--
Yeah, the stock mobile data works.. although I do have a theory on what could be going on
Theory 1: It could be I have to install my ROMS a certain way, initally, I had stock ROM, then I added the "Mostly Stock ROM" THEN I added Rengeade when you suggested it to me
Theory 2: Possibily signal strength/proxies (I'm doing this at on my school's wifi)
Theory 3: Something that Xposed has modified and its still there
--UPDATE 2--
I did the first theory and it worked successfully BUT.. I did remember that I had installed SuperSU soon after flashing twrp (which came after i flashed the stock rom).. Now I'm trying to see if that made a difference.
--UPDATE 3--
Ok, so it seems that it is a certain install order (tried with both superSU installed first and without). But I'm worried now about installing Xposed.. as I'm now nervous that it may end up messing up my phone again (It took a while for me to figure out how to get it back working.. as it ended up bricking with continuous looping and even factory resetting/clearing data off didn't work. I had to flash the stock rom for it to work again)
Interesting. My friends all have the International version which is G925F. Yours is Sprint ? Or some other cell phone provider ?
If your model goes haywire with simple custom rom installations and other apps than I wouldn't risk installing XPosed BUT if you do then try to follow these instructions... they work for your model:
https://xtremetricks.net/install-xposed-framework-android-6-0-6-0-1-marshmallow/
My phone is Sprint and I downloaded Xposed from the Magitsk app and it worked without bricking my phone.. I wonder why it was acting up
Strange thing, I seems I HAVE to install the 'Mostly Stock ROM' BEFORE I add Renegade.. the mobile data works to not work at all without installing Mostly Stock first.. How any idea how to fix this?
Well, I tried installing Magisk and it bricked my phone once again.. I'm really confused with whats going on. I have a backup of the stock ROM from SamMobile. What I want to do now is completely clear off ALL data from all of the roms and just start over, is that even possible? Also, if I delete the system files, do I HAVE to install the Stock ROM first, or can I just add the custom ROM and it will add the OS?
Well normally for rooted phones, you only add the custom ROM and it will automatically add the OS. I have no idea why you having so much problem with it. Did you unluck the bootloader ??
Yeah.. (I think), I made sure OEM Unlock is enabled and USB debugging is on.. Not sure what could be causing such problems with my phone.. I honestly wish I knew
What method did you use to root your phone and unlock the bootloader ?
I used the systemless method (installed TWRP, then installed the latest SuperSU which used the systemless method by itself) and I think I did.. there was an option where I had to enable (it was called OEM Unlocking, it was preventing me from flashing)
And I forgot to ask another question.. should I (and if such thing is possible) wipe the system/ folder and then install the custom ROM onto my phone without having to add the stock one at all?
What I would do if I were in your shoes is I would unroot and re-lock your bootloader again... see this article for unrooting: http://howunroot.com/unroot-supersu/samsung/galaxy+s6+edge+sm-g925p/5.0/ Now... once you unroot your phone... I don't think re-locking your bootloader will have any effect... but you can try to relock your bootloader and bring it to the original state meaning factory... once there just follow these instructions step by step: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/skipsoft-toolkit-galaxy-s6-edge-root-unlock-restore-flash-stock-firmware-drivers-more-1517879 Once you root it and unlock your bootloader again, and after your install TWRP, go into TWPR, wipe dalvik cache, wipe system, wipe everything ... and then instlal the custom ROM that I gave you in the link, and it should be working find without problems. Try that and get back to me and update me... if you have any questions then just post it here and I will help you as much as i can.
I don't think I unlocked the bootloader because I looked up the instructions to how to unlock the bootloader and I didn't do that.. all I did was enable OEM unlock, is that the same thing as unlocking the bootloader? If not, how do I unlock the bootloader?
Suggestion of a stable custom ROM and additional info how to "cleanly" install it.
Hello to the community.
I need your help in choosing a stable custom ROM and some info on the steps on how to make a clean install.
I was using a galaxy S3 i9300 with CM11 and TWRP 2.7, 2 years ago. I bought a used htc m8 and put the S3 on the drawer. Last year i turned it on again and used it some time. I checked for updates and without thinking it, i installed cm 13(snapshot). After restarting it, i had the problem with the " trebuchet stopped" and "google play services stopped".After that, i did sth that i don't remember and had the flashing(boot loop?) twrp logo and not being able to boot to the phone. And i put it again in the drawer. Now i want to give it to my little brother and today i took it out again.
Through terminal and adb i booted the phone with the "reboot" command but had the "trebuchet + google play stopped" message again. After some time fiddling around, i flashed the latest version of TWRP with Odin, thinking that i could solve the problem like that but the phone is stuck on the CM logo trying to boot. Even if it boots i think it will show these 2 messages all the time(but it doesn't boot) .
So i want your advice on choosing a good and stable custom ROM to flash, possibly with Odin. The language will be in english and i don't care if it's Android 6 or 7 or 5 as long as it's stable. He will use the phone for basic stuff and not sth too extreme. I remember using CM11 without issues but i know that now there are lots of others roms. Also i want to make the cleanest install to minimise the possibilities of crashes and to give him a clean from everything, phone. But i have forgotten some steps in TWRP.
Thank you in advance and i'm waiting for your suggestions and advice.
The last official stock firmware is probably best as it is the most stable and he won't be able to break it unlike with custom roms.
Beamed in by telepathy.
So I have got this Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 3G 10.1" that has been lying in a cupboard for a around a year, mainly because I've been busy Now there's a family member of mine who would really need a tablet so I thought this one would be perfect for her!
From thinking I went on to doing and started with getting rid of the stock software and installing some nice custom ROM.
As I found out i couldn't use USB (probably busted data-cable), I rooted the tab using KingRoot and went on installing CWM recovery. Afterwards long story short: I've tried both CWM and TWRP, different ROM and android versions (Lineage, CM, Slim etc.) and different GApps packages from different developers but the problem still seems to come up :crying:
The problem itself is that when I've installed any of the above mentioned ROMs, all the GApps seem to not have been installed correctly (even though the installation process in recovery went smoothly) and basically none of them works (notifications saying that any GApp has stopped keep on coming up and I can't find any Google app in the menu except something things like "com.google.android..." or "com.android.vending...") otherwise everything seems perfectly fine.
Maybe there are others here experiencing the same issue or there's someone who knows how to fix this here, any help will be very appreciated :good:
Hello,
First, have you checked that the ROM you flashed was fully compatible with your device? Yes, this is obvious, but I have to ask.
Second, I'm not a ROM flashing via custom recovery fan... The best way to efficiently flash a ROM in my opinion is Odin-Download mode but whatever (your USB port is screwed, so pfu.)
Redownloading apps doesn't work for you? (updating the apk may fix that!)

Yes, I do have used ROMs compatible with my device as they've all are made for espresso3g (which is my device).
I know it's not really the best way but I'll keep on trying with custom recovery for some more time and then perhaps try buying a new cable, and see if that works.
Tried installing Google Play Store from APK both on a clean ROM without GApps and with, but it still doesn't run and keeps on saying that either Google Play Store or "com.google.process.gapps" has stopped.
Alright...
I'm out of idea x/

Hello...!
You could try the following....
1. make absolutely sure you are using the correct version of gapps for the custom rom you are currently using. If your custom rom is on android 6, you need gapps for android 6 for example.
2. after flashing gapps wipe cache/dalvik and make a factory reset BEFORE exiting twrp. You will lose personal data but since you are preparing to give the device to somebody else that should not be much of a concern.
Let me know if it helps, if it does not, I might be able to try and provide additional suggestions.
Good luck!

Hi and thanks for your reply!
1. The ROMs I've been trying to install are all android 6.0.1 and I've been trying with different OpenGApps packages for the 6.0 version which should work (except CM 12 which is android 5.1 with which I've tried OpenGApps and A-Gapps for Android 5.1).
2. Tried that with 3 different ROMs today and the results are following: Slimrom gets stuck in setupwizard which doesn't start, CM 12 starts but the same error as first seems to appear (I get notifications about GApps which stop working) and Lineage bootloops the lineage start screen.

Ok...
This is what I would do if it was my device and I was facing what you are describing. It might take some time and a little patience to do everything described here, but it might also work.
1. Usin Odin, flash latest available official rom for the device. Let it boot and complete setup.
2. Use odin and use CF autoroot to root. Again boot and complete setup.
3. Flash Twrp. Enter Twrp and flash latest flashable supersu.zip. At this time I believe is version 2.82. Again boot and let it reach your welcome screen.
4. Enter Twrp. Enter advanced wipe. Wipe everything except external SD and usb at least 3 times. Do not exit twrp.
5. Install you rom. Do not exit Twrp.
6. After installing your rom, Twrp will ask you if you want to wipe cache/dalvik. "Yes" but DO NOT reboot.
7. Install correct version of gapps for your custom rom (correct both android version and architecture version). Again twrp will ask you to wipe cache/dalvik. "Yes" and this time reboot.
See what happens. If it gets stuck, try entering twrp again and do a factory reset only, only once and reboot again.
If that fails again... I will at a loss here myself too...
I did a quick search here on xda on P5100, I am providing some links that you can take a look at. You probably already searched yourself but you never know...

If nothing else helps, perhaps the best way to go around this would be to find a custom rom with at least some google apps pre-installed, in order to save you the trouble you are currently facing.

Hey, just try uninstalling Google play services and install them again. I faced the same issue and now it's all working on my Samsung Galaxy Core 2
