Hello.
I have issues with wii and BT.
andr68rus told me to delete EFS and flash this zip by twrp ( Thanks a lot, andr68rus):good:
But... What is EFS? Where do I find it? Can I erase it without later problems? I heard it is related to IMEI and other diabolical and no-dummies - understanding matters.
God help me! I am lost.
If God do not wish to make a particular revelation to me, i would appreciate any help from someone more... mundane.
Thanks.
afaik: encrypting(or encrypted) filesystem.
backup efs in twrp or use an app from the playstore to be able to restore efs if you have problems after deleting.
from the internet:
The EFS refers to a folder called EFS which can store information like meid, imei, serial number, config, diag settings and radio settings, etc in an encrypted format at the file system level stores. So it is very neccessary for us to backup EFS before flashing ROMs.

Thanks, A.N.Droid.
But, how do i backup it? I do not find it at the phone. I understand i am root because i am using Cuoco92, so I should find this, but i do not.
Even if I find it, is it as easy as copy at an external device?
Thanks again.
i'm not an expert on this so please correct me if i'm wrong.
story: my previous phone was samsung note 3. it really had a partition called efs if i remember right. this is not the case for le max.
i think all the critical stuff is on theese partitions:
modemst1 (on sdf1)
modemst2 (on sdf3)
fsg (on sde7)
i'm, not sure about theese partitions:
modemst1_gap (on sdf2)
modemst2_gap (on sdf4)
modem (on sde12, mounted as /firmware)
obviously "modem" holds many firmware files for different purposes but i think you have to clear modemst1+2 only to solve your issue.
i believe there is a backup of modemst1+2 somewhere on the phone from where both partitions are rewritten after erasing them.
theese partitions are not mounted, so you can not see them in the filesystem (excluding modem).
1. you can backup and restore partitions via fastboot, look on xda or google how to.
2. you can backup and restore partitions via twrp, just select efs.
it will generate two files, efs1.emmc.win and efs2.emmc.win. theese are just renamed .img files, representing modemst1+2. restore with twrp or rename and flash with fastboot.
3. backup and restore .qcn file with qpst (google, is your friend).
the efs backup apps i mentioned don't seem to work.

Thanks again. Pity i am a dummy. I understood just a half of your explain.
I will try what I understood. Nothing bad can happen, right?
right.
if you want to be safe backup efs in twrp.
if you want to be 10000% safe, backup your .qcn file with qpst.

Hi is is safe to flash stock roms with odin.
can the imei be erased flashing a stock roms?
if so, how can i prevent it?
back up efs with k tools or one of the other backup tools before doing anything, then copy backup to computer/dropbox/flash drive....as many places as you can!
Odin much safer than kies, straight forward to use, just make sure you know what you are doing before proceeding
Odin is the best! Go ahead, you will have no problems if you know how to flash correct.
Be sure to backup efs in first place.
It is better to be safe than sorry.
Is there any way to copy EFS folder without root? from pc or something?
i want to stay stock.
As far as I know, there isn't. You have to root and then use something like EFS backup pro for efs folder backup.

You need root access to backup the efs folder.
Hi!
Today i will switch from HTC One S to an I9300.
Can i Backup and restore the EFS Partition with TWRP and do i have to restore the EFS Partition after flashing a custom rom?
On my One S i´ve deleted all partitions and the flashed a custom rom but on that phone i did not have to backup any efs data.
thx in advance!

You can backup&restore /efs with TWRP.
You should only wipe partitions, offered in TWRP, before flashing another rom. You mustn't restore /efs afterwards. Generally avoid any actions on /efs /dev: high chance of brick of losing your IMEI.
I've seen that there are different tools for backing up EFS partition but using TWRP looks like the easiest way to me....
Afaik these tools don't store anymore than TWRP. So keep it easy. But forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56492632&postcount=15 @billa says, that this is no 100%-insurance: IMEI would be saved in dev-partition.
Lost EFS

Do you know how to regenerate the efs? I´ve lost it and now i have a corrupt IMEI.
No. Too few details.
First, search in Q&A for it.
Can someone tell me how to take a reliable efs backup (on Oneplus X), from which one can restore the partitions safely in case some thing goes wrong?

you need twrp recovery(or anyother recovery) for that. Go to backup option, select EFS and swipe to backup.

You can use TWRP like mentioned before. Or if you first root your device you can use an app like Partitions Backup & Restore in the playstore . And select all things that start with modem. I can also recommend to make a full system backup before flashing any other rom including the persistent partition. Last but not least please put those backups on a computer or on a cloud device. Because the microsd or the internal storage can always be deleted by a fault.
i read in many threads now that tw is only designed for same device restore
i didnt know that
can i use a root browser or similar to extract my old apps amnd (data) and migrate to g5 because i really need it... lg g4 is sold :cyclops:
which files excactly are needed ( data.ext4 for example??)
if you have root, use simply titanium backup to restoe Apps with data. But restore device settings is a big risk. Set it manually and dont restore it you can restore a many systemapps, but dont restore app and data, restore data only...

Hi! I have a Leeco Le Max 2 X829, and as there aren´t any official stock ROM I wanna save a 100% stock Backup of my X829 with 16S USA ROM. I mean ROM + Recovery, just as it is unpacked(without downloaded Apps and my data).
Could I make it booting in temporaly TWRP with fastboot and doing NAND backup choosing:
- Boot
- Recovery
- System
- Data...
Any other option? All options that TWRP show? thanks!
Yes. EFS too
Turn on phone with power+volume keys.
Fastboot boot TWRP.img

Then must I choose all options in TWRP backup?
One more thing... I Will be in a booted Recovery, so original Recovery is going to be still, then the one saved in the backup Will be the booted one ore the stock one? Thanks!
If you just want a factory setup without your apps and data I would say just backup the system image in twrp, backing up data definitely uncheck .
Only system is bit to less...
I would keep the us version.
eUI is not that bad and until we all get the update to android 7 ... it s probably the best and most stable rom running.
Why change it, when the other opportunities are leading to an less smooth running phone ?
To me all the cooked roms have disadvantages.
I need to have a fully working phone/ camera /fingerprint sensor...
without option to go back to the US rom I wouldn't change a thing!

Mmm, then all options least Data? Thanks!
Don't listen to them. Back up everything. Who cares about a few space? Besides data is probably empty or with a few stock tools. Just backup all for your complete image. EFS contains IMEI and other stuff. It is important to have it. You can Back up everything, and then move it to a computer or somewhere else
It will have stock recovery backed up to TWRP and it's better if you backup as image, that way it saves the partition structures too.
Only first backup as image,to have perfect copy, the next backups you do is better do them as normal backups compressed (not image).

Hi, I have done and it made a lot of .win archives, is that right? thanks
Yes those are md5 or Sha sums, drag the whole TWRP folder to computer and you are good to go, don't change any name of any folder inside TWRP folder or TWRP will never detect that backup.
I don't know why but once I copied all except 73shf38 folder, and it turned out that folder with those numbers matter, and I couldn't restore without the exact name
