guys my phone started to over heat and there was yellow stripes on both left and right sides but i didnt care , i asked in the forum they said because of over heating, I didnt want to send it to lab even if its under warrenty because i had no replacement phone and im a very busy man.
but my phone has dropped in water and I immediatly turned it off as I was afraid water might break it and I tried to turn it on but it didnt thank god because i immediatly put it in rice for about a week (i know its supposed to be water proof but im safe lol) but turns out in the end water did actually get in it because it didnt charge properly after i turned it on so i tried to dry it out in a hot air dryer it started to charge ok but there was still water signs in the screen that couldnt dry out so with time phone started to over heat more for some reason, so i thought maybe it has more water , so I tried to blow dry it for a couple of minutes which caused the screen to turn yellow'ish in the corner so I sent it to the lab and they said water has got into it before checking any thing, they just saw it and said water has got in it, do they have the authority to just decide that without opening it? i mean it did become yellow because of too much heat not because of water, and they just wanna charge me saying it broke cuz of water, I know I didnt tell them about the water either ways its not under warranty but im just asking can they just claim its water? after all it broke because of heat not water is there any thing i could say to get out of paying to fix this? im sick of broken phones money here .... need help asap, help me figure out if i can convince them...

I am pretty sure this is a warranty claim but I wanted to run it by the community. Excuse any poor typing I'm literally on a mountain right now.
I think some moisture got into the bottom port. My s2 always thinks it's plugged into a computer. I get samsung kies connection prompts when I get into the os and battery usage tracker shows the phone as charging when I look at usage with wild spikes up and down. Can't toggle USB dev mode because it always tells me to remove USB cable. Luckily I got a tibackup just a few days ago that I offloaded to my memory card.
When I power it down I immediately get the green battery showing it's charging. In a few seconds it starts flashing between that and a battery with a temperature gauge and a exclaimation point.
Only way to get her to turn on is by plugging into a power source and holding down power.
Did a factory reset same problem. Won't be able to reset the kernel till I get home in 10 days.
Any ideas or straight back to phones 4 u warranty claim? If water damage then insurance claim ( loved my baby. Thanks

Get some rubbing alcohol solution (Isopropyl alcohol) from your local pharmacy.
Pour it into a bowl.
Remove the battery cover.
Remove the battery.
Dip your phone into the bowl, and swirl it around.
Place on an air conditioner to have the alcohol and water sucked out from the dehydrated cool air conditioned air for overnight. If it is winter, put near the heater which also has dehydrated warm air.
Place battery into phone.
Turn phone on.
See if you have the problem again.

I'm having this same exact issue - I've even had my phone unplugged for about 2 hours, yet when I go to battery status, it says it's only been on battery for 2 seconds... how did your warranty replacement go?
There was somebody on a Dutch forum who has the same problem.
His phone was wet.
And if it is water damage, i hope for you that you have warranty and dont have big water problems ...

had it sealed in a ziplock bag, so no outside water got in - perhaps it got too hot in the bag or there was moisture in the bag when it was sealed? (I should've put in some silica gel or something..)

Sorry for going MIA.
Basically I returned this to phones4u, sent it in, and they processed a warranty replacement. They didnt say anything luckily about water damage but I think its because on a rainy day some water got into the bottom. From what I could tell they cleaned up the connector at the bottom with alcohol or something - it was spic and span when i got it back and the phone worked ok.
Side note, I recieved it and saw they scrached up my phone pretty good so i complained and sent it in a second time. Recieved it and the scratches were gone, but to do this they did a new screen replacement.
THe new screen had a bright red stuck pixel. I thought I could live with it but it drove me nuts as my original screen was perfect. So i went back to phones 4 u and sent it in a third time, this time they're saying they will just give me a swap. So although the problem was fixed a mess ensued and now i'm sitting around waiting for my "swap" and next surprises with dealing with them.
THey have been ok though I'm almost sure there is water damage on that phone but they dont seem to have picked up on it, i hope i can get it swapped and then dont have to worry about water damage again.

Okay....i have a black international galaxy s II converted to white and i dropped it in the water last night I was fairly intoxicated and my friend immediately helped me put it in a bowl of rice battery out etc....I left it like that overnight then tried to turn the phone on (not smart)wasn't turning on.....i came to my senses and disassembled the phone right away this morning and saw it was still a bit wet, immediately stuck it in the bowl of rice.
What it's chances at survival?? lol it was legit in water submerged for a only 1 sec if anything, i immediately snatched it out and saw that it was still turning on etc...
Also, what are warranty options? You think they'd know it was water damage after i put it back together? I also have a custom ROM and kernel and stuff but if it doesn't turn on would they be able to find out?
Hopefully the bowl of rice fixes it -.- I've had the phone for maybe like 1 month tops

Edit: fully functional luckily, no water damage, no eroding, litmus indicator is still fine and didn't change colors to indicate water damage. Close call but 100% perfect
The prognosis is not good. Warranty does not cover water damage unless you have insurance on the device. Sorry, I hope I'm mistaken for your sake!

blahhh......it doesn't look like theres any water damage since i have a feeling the rice soaked a lot of water initially.
lol been going all over the web watching youtube videos etc....seeing ppl freaking submerge their galaxy s II and it still working damn.
Gonna leave it in the rice for another like 2 hrs probably then see how it does, was barely any water when disassembled, droplet here and there but that doesn't mean jack sh*t.

1. The battery might need replacing. Batteries are easily damaged by water.
2. Leave it rice for 4-5 days. It can never be too dry.
I would try someone's battery to see if it is still working in a couple of days.
It's not the amount of water, it's where it gets to - even a single droplet can kill a device if it shorts the right (or wrong) circuits.
Also even if it's completely dry and left in rice for a month you probably can't warranty it as there's water sensitive tabs all over modern smartphones. On the battery, usually near the headphones jack and others inside.

Good thing i have my OEM battery and an extra anker 1900. The first anker was in the phone so if thats messed up, I have 2 other batteries to try.
Damn 2 days -.- I'm probably gonna end up trying it tonight or something lol. Im in college and flying home on tuesday so i kinda need to find out if it'll work or not. Thanks for the help.
But damn, all those survival stores of the galaxy s II is making me both sad cuz if mine doesn't work, how the hell did theirs survive and hopeful it may work. Lol some dude had his in a full cycle washing machine, left the phone in rice for 7 days and it worked

i've heard a hair dryer is a bad idea, reading about it on the webs. Apparently it messes with the circuit boards or w/e......air dry is the best, i just let it sit in rice for a bit longer, pretty confident all of it is dry since i took the phone apart and let it sit in the rice.
Running it now and everything is working perfectly.

long story short....I splashed some water on my phone...had a heartbreak...put it in dry rice....worked well next day...phew!
Now, though it seems to be working fine. It has this post water symptoms.Like, it does not charge at times, shoes charging even when i remove the charger.The screen does not respond at all at times. Random restarts. I swipe one part of the screen and the other part responds...
So, in all, I am really really confused on what the hell is wrong with it.Should I put it in rice again? Probably drain out anymore water still inside?
Its been 2 days since the water fiasco. Any help would really be appreciated!!

I have been searching on this forum for various things for couple of years and never had the need to register until now, My Phone (Galaxy Mega 6.3 i9200) fell in water last week, not fully submerged, just the top of it for few seconds, i immediately pulled it out and have done the following as suggested by many in this same forum:
1. Dried in dry cloth and kept to dry for 1-2hrs
2. put the phone in a air tight container with unboiled rice for 4 days
3. put the phone in a air tight container with desiccant for 3 days
I have put some pictures and you can see the water level has gradually come down from the LCD screen and the cloud patch is somewhat gone and as you can see in the last image, that is what exists and this is not going at all, I have tried vaccum cleaner hot air for 3-5 mins but no luck.
Today i walked to samsung service center and they said i had voided the warranty which is obvious and the phone LCD replacement would cost $120 including labor, however there is one risk which they dont want to take, during the replacement of LCD, if the phone doesnt come alive, then i am stuck with a dead phone for life, I didnt agree to this and walked from there.
All the sensors including cameras work perfectly fine, no issues at all, *#0*# runs with all built-in function absolutely fine, even the battery has no issues and no bulging or no drop in performance and doesnt get heated up, so, here is my question:
1. As you can see the picture, the water level gradually came down, but stuck somewhat in the middle, will this eventually go away like the rest of the water patch or will it stick to LCD like a stain permanently ?
2. If its temporary, how do i remove the water which is in the middle of the screen? I have kept almost a week in dessicant and rice, should i continue or should i try something else ?
3. The last option for me: If this is going to be permanent, anyway to replace the phone LCD without damaging the phone, I dont understand samsung service center asking customer to take risk for water damage inspite of me agreeing to pay the money for the LCD replacement, not fair i guess....b.w all phone functionality could be lost in this case which is working perfectly fine.
so, guys pls suggest me how i can fix this, its a new phone 1 month old and i am feeling very sad for what happened....

did u try to show some local repair shops they will help u and do not blow hot air into it it will try to blow the water but it will again come back try to show some trusted local shops see what they say i too have faced like the same issues but sc as usually say out of warranty due to water damage and my phone flash light was continuous on local shop guy fixed it now running it fine

yesterday it was raining heavily and my cousin became full wet along with his phone, he then put his phone under the seat of his scooter and drove whole day, when he reached home, the phone had became too hot and what a surprise it was fully dried and no water in LCD or whatsoever and absolutely working fine.
I took this idea and wanted to try the same but didnt want to drive a scooter in the rain
so, i decided i will put the phone somewhere it is not too hot and above warm, i took a small bag, put my phone (removed battery), connected my vaccum cleaner in opposite where you get hot air (blower) and closed the bag leaving small room for air to escape, left it for 15mins initially, there was no sign of improvement, then again left for 20mins and this is what the phone looks now (see attachment).
Eurekaaaaa! the water in the phone is getting dried much faster, i am gonna try this for some more time and post here if the phone is completely dried.

I check inside of the covering plate (the stainless plate when you remove the battery) and I see some residue but not water anymore, it heated up and cleaning it again, but still nothing. I tried my best repairing her phone but no success. I told her to come back anytime so she go home and so, I start to research someting. But I didn't search that night, I have a very, VERY, slow connection. So today still nothing so that's why I post here for question.
If someone have an idea, please post here.

you messed up trying to power it on or use it when there is water inside. best thing you could do is blow dry it to dry anything else and leave it in rice to absorb any drops od rice

I tried to rice it up for a whole day, didn't work, I do this 3 times to check inside. Should I buy a new digitizer? It's not available in my current country.

yeah just buy a new one. i imagine if its not working now, then it wont be working anytime soon. have a good day mate!
Ok, I already fix it. First, I lie the logic board and the digitizer outside to heat up for 4 hours under the sun, second, I submerged with rubbing alcohol, third dried up and finalizing, and finally, assembled up, plug the charger in, charge up, boot up, it works!
I search some threads that rubbing alcohol will work.
