The fix is to not buy silly fake Chinese battery's from ebay.
Completely agree. That's why I have the official extended battery. Pointless paying good money for knock off, unofficial, ****e batteries. Worth the extra cash for the original branded kit that will actually work.

Hindsight is the best sight but what do you want us to say, keep the battery under your armpit for 5 minutes and all will be well?
Does the phone start up with the original battery?

Obviously its your problem, not ours!
Maybe if you gave more relevant information you would get more helpful replies. All you did was tell people you're silly enough to buy a cheap/crap battery from ebay and then wonder why you get replies you did??

Then it sounds like your hardware has failed or you bricked it at some point.
What was you doing prior to your device originally losing power?
Have you tried different charger?
What rom you on?
What kernel you on?
on Miui, been working fine, i had a sgs2 previously but it ended up getting smashed in the gym.
bought a replacement with already a cheap battery in, nowhere near has good as a stock,
Numnuts here being a Cheap Northerner decided to get a cheap GOLD battery off ebay , which had some good reviews,
So today i received the gold battery in the post, swapped around,

Following the topic opened for the device twisting in pocket (again, apologies for being a di*k on it), I discovered this other problem.
My back cover is not being completely shut.
I have a .5mm gap between the white border and the white back cover on the bottom right corner (looking from the back), just were the vibration motor is.
I'm even sure that this problem is related to another annoying thing for me, which is that the vibration is way too noisy (holding the corner pushed in makes the vibration smoother).
I submerged the phone in hot and cold water several times when I discovered this thing, but no problems whatsoever.
I tried to heat the back with an hairdryer and clamping it for the night, but eventually it lifts back up.
Oh, and I literally burned the white bezel a little (just a tiny little, but that got me really MAD), so be careful with the hairdryer in case you got the same issue.
I will post some pictures when I get hold of a decent camera.
Did some of you notice something like this?

Not really but comming from the note 2 the vibration alarm feels much smoother soo i think ypu could have a bad glueing spot. I believe there is npthing you can do about it but claim a warranty your own repair tries will make it just worse. If you can't get it repaired under warranty wait for ifixit and look if they publish a repair guide with reapplying of the glue (highly doubt it though)

Yeah that was my first thought, but tomorrow I will check first if it's a repair that could be done without leaving the device in for a week or worse.
I don't want to use an old phone for a week, no way.
Not just for a glue thing that can be fixed in like 5 minutes anyway.
From the other thread I posted:
I kept the phone warm for a bit and then I clamped it for 2 hours, it was fine for half an hour maybe, and then the back plate started to lift up again, obviously influencing the vibration as well.
I'm so pissed as I'm realising that I will have to go for warranty one day.
And by that I mean going through the whole "I bought the phone in the UK but you know that Sony covers warranty damages anyway in any EU country if you bought it from one" process.
I guess they'll definitely will oppose some resistance at first.

It happened way before, because the vibration was always strange...
Anyway, I sent it in for warranty, as yesterday I turned it off and it stayed in boot loops ever since.
I guess SetCPU had something to do with it, as I set it to 300mhz when the screen went off, and I suspect the phone didn't have the power it needed to turn back on.
I tried with every program I have (PCC, Sony Bridge, SUS), everything went fine repairing it, but no luck.
Now I'll have to wait more than a month (that's what they said, unfortunately) and I'll have to live with an LG 2X until then crying::crying.

I live in Verona, Italy, and the repair centre is in Milan, like 100 miles from here.
Still, I don't know why the hell they take all that time.
In fact, I will call Sony again tomorrow complaining A LOT about this.
It's unbearable that in 2013, when I send a package via UPS from Italy to US in 1 (ONE) day, a cell phone repair (in which they will probably just replace the whole device) takes A MONTH.

Let's hope so, but I'm not that confident, I'm in Italy, not in the UK... things go slooooooow here.
Or better yet, why just not give me a (paid) option to just get it repaired in a week? I paid premium price for the device, I don't care for another 50 £/$/€, I just want it back.

I've just replaced my Galaxy edge + as I dropped and broke it. I bought a brand new handset from Amazon. When I got it there was only 6% batter on it which I though was odd, my other one had more than 50%.
Anyway, after 5 hours of charging its still only at 75%, for a new phone does this suggest a fault to anyone or is the first charge slower, I dont remember it being this slow.
I haven't done any other diags yet, ive left the phone on charge at home, i'm still using my old one with the broken screen at the moment.
Should I be worried?

yeah I know that, however I was wondering if this is just because it was so low on unboxing, wondering if it was a known issue maybe.
looks like faulty unit or at least faulty battery. You should send it back for warranty repair
Hi guys,
my Nexus 9 started to randomly shutdown around 40-50% with some strange noises and screen artefacts. I know some people faced that as well. I've tried to go trough that google support bull*hit and finally when we agreed it's battery issue, they stopped answering - seriously.
So I've removed the back cover - it's pretty easy. The battery is 2 pieces, one is ok, the second is probably dead - very bloated. So I need a new battery and it will probably be ok. BUT the battery is impossible to buy
I've contacted our local HTC partner repair centre, but they told me, they no longer do repairs, they just send it to HTC, so they cannot say how much will the battery replacement cost :silly:
So finally the question - is there any way how to get a new battery for the Nexus 9? Swap is super easy and paying half a price of the tablet for battery replacement, which I can do in 3 minutes is just lame.
Anyone saw Nexus 9 battery as spare part? Anywhere? I've found a guy in Poland, but he's not replying to my emails.
Thanks!

Don't waste your time putting a new battery in it. It's a hardware issue. My first N9 thr exact same issue after 4 months of use and ultimately had to be replaced. There's another forum here on XDA pertaining to the exact same issue. Under 50% screen locks up with a scrambled image and loud noise from the speakers. It's a bad motherboard and the only fix is a new motherboard or new Nexus 9. Trust me on this. You can replace the battery, but it won't help this issue. Sorry

Furthermore, both Google and HTC know of this issue. I swear they instruct their tech people to play dumb.
Sadly that make sense. After I've send a few photos, when I was quick enough to take a photo of the display before shutdown, google support went silent!
These are not a good news, but I thank you for reply and sharing some light on it. I will consider buying a new tablet then.

Makes sense. My N9 has had minimal use (displaced by Pixel-C). Brought it out of hibernation a while back, and it kees crashing (even when on charge!)
I've had this problem with crashing and loud noises several times. Previously I had a charging issue, under warranty the mainboard was replaced. A long while after that the problems with scrambled screen and loud noises started. I then disconnected the battery, and reconnected it, and the problem went away for a long time. But it has returned and even returning more often.
So I ordered a replacement battery via ebay (straight from China), and yesterday I finally found some time to replace it. First thing I noticed the tablet is more responsive, snappier.. It hasn't discharged enough to reproduce the problem, but I had trouble lately with updating apps when it wasn't on the powersupply, which convinced me it was a faulty battery. Now it's updating without charger no problem at all.
2,5 weeks after replacing the battery, and the problem did not come back. I'm happy with it.. pretty easy fix..
So the same problem has been happening to me also, got the N9 up to 7.1.1 and this started to happen a lot more. Seems to be when the battery is low (under 50% or 40%, somewhere around there) and usually when I'm looking at the Chive app, mostly again with animated GIF's they have. I'm not sure it's happened with games since I mostly game on my N6 since it has more RAM so it plays a bit better where the 2GB on the N9 is too laggy.
Any way, so this happens now too. So some say bad motherboard, others say bad battery. Has anyone gone through the trouble of the motherboard replacement? Or have actually had HTC replace the motherboard on warranty? If yes, has it made the problem go away? Has anyone else bought a battery off eBay (I can't find them new OEM anywhere and I hate the idea of a Chinese knockoff so close to my hands and face - ya know, fire) and had the problem go away?
I've replace all manners of parts from various phones so I know I can do it to the N9, which is just a large ass phone. I have to give up my N9 for some Samsung tablet (sorry 7" tablets are too small). I love having a 8"-10", pure vanilla Android tablet. I wish Google would make another one that was like the N9.

I couldn't figure out how to unplug the cables.
You need to pull it vertically from the board. I used a guitar pick to make it a bit looser, then I pulled it of.

Is it still working?
I am pretty sure is the battery connector. I unplugged and replugged the connector and the problem was gone for a few days. I could finally solve it applying a contact cleansing spray to the connector and then using a special kind of glue which is typically used to prevent screws for unfasten. It has worked perfectly since then, no need to replace the battery.

Just wanted to be sure this was the root cause.
Already exchanged my battery in the meantime.
Thanks anyway!
I installed a replacement battery six months ago due to shortening run times on the original battery. I purchased it from newpower99.com for $60. They have an instructional video on their site that shows how to replace the Nexus 9's battery. It worked well for me, giving me a run time that was comparable to the run time when the Nexus 9 was new.
Hey guys,
I've moved over to the one plus two.
Things I will miss are;
Losing the manual camera mode (opt's isn't as in depth as the g4's)
Easy access back buttons
Obviously battery replacement and sd card (although the 64gb opt should be OK)
Reason I swapped over are;
The annoying screen retention, it got worse and worse over time and was always there, especially the pink glow around the corners of the screen.
The screen response wasn't all that great but still wasn't the main issue.
LOCKED bootloader.... I waited and waited and have finally ran out of patients to wait... this was the deal breaker for me, besides I had one of the original models which was a bootloop ticking time bomb.
Why are your guys opinions? I really like the opt so far, but i am missing some small bits, NFC, IR blaster and fast charge but they're only toys I suppose.

I brought mine to the Media Markt Service Center because of this screen burn in and they said that they will send it to an lg service center i will post u guys immediatly what they have done or changed.... but from the g4 to the op2 is mehhh u can do it but the op 3 would have beeeeen 1903848948030984890439084 times better m8 but have fun with your new phone because if lg doesnt repairs the phone on warranty i ll smash it against a wall and i am going also for an one plus or like i said 2727272728 times before htc 10 looks very good
The only good thing about this phone is the camera.
Screen turned out to be a mess due to the ghosting problem (in practice it virtually is permanently existant for me and yes that damn orange pinkish glow) despite being highly marketed.
Logd battery drain bug.
Bootloop.
Thin light strip at the top which I guess most won't notice but it is annoying once you do (yes all G4's I saw have it, I checked every time I saw a G4 in a store and also exchanged mine once).
Love the camera, regret paying 620 Eur + ~100 Eur for accessories due to various problems...
For me it will be Note 7 or if I can make it until next year the anniversary iPhone,
just my 2 cents, cheers.
I have no display pink issues? Where can i find or see them?
