I got my Razr from Amazon Wireless 1 cent deal. After I soft bricked mine...i actually got a replacement from the telephone tech and also the store tech said he could replace it. I got one in 2 day even better then the first one. Seems more snappier for some reason.
Maybe the replacements come from different locations or different lots?
do you think Amazon (and/or Verizon?) will allow me to get a replacement from a Verizon store? i'm tired of sending my phones back in

Probably....I initially told the vrz store i got mine from amazon wireless. they were going to have one shipped to me but their warehouse was empty so they said to call support on the phone....I had them ship me one in 2 days.
They only give you 5 days to ship the bad phone back...return postage and box provided.
Mine has 1 stuck pixel, but I've never replaced it, because my battery life is pretty good and I haven't had any other problems.
I don't think you guys are using the correct terminology.
I work in the display business, as a applications engineer for LCD/Display companies.
There are different grades of panels, with the best available being "A" grade.
LCD or Display manufacturers use grading scales to grade the quality of the substrates they use in the products. There used to be a "Z" grade, which meant zero pixel outages, or perfect panels, but those no longer exist, as the LCD companies would have to sort the substrates after they cut in order to determine which were perfect and which weren't. Samsung, the supplier who makes the AMOLED that is inside the RAZR never had this designation.
"A" grade panels in this size are allowed to have up to 3 bright pixels or 3 dark pixels, or no more than 5 total light or dark pixels on a panel.
Now, 1 pixel, in this panel, is so small, that a stuck pixel would not be visible to the naked eye. The size of the pixel is around .283 mm x .245mm. I don't care how good your vision is, you can't see this without a microscope.
"A" grade panels also designates that you can't have more than 2 adjacent pixels with defects on any panel. Even with 2 pixels next to each other, it would be INCREDIBLY hard to see this type of defect, unless you have a completely black screen on, and even then, it's going to be so small, that you can't really see this.
So having 2 stuck pixels is not correct. If you have 2 defects in the screen that you can see, that means you probably have at least 4 adjacent pixels out in one area, which is completely different.
As a secondary FYI, the defects you could be seeing may have nothing to do with the display itself, and could be a bad GPU interface, which may be interrupting the data to a specific location. Unfortunately the only way to test this, is to take the panel and plug it into a different source, and see the results. So it could be a faulty solder or cable assembly, rather than displays. With AMOLED's we see only about .5% failure rates, so it would be EXTREMELY odd to have 3 different displays with the same defects, but manufacturing processes on PCB boards or cable assemblies is much easier to cause failures in batches like you have experienced. I would definitely try to get a phone from the Verizon store this time rather than Amazon, as it would guarantee a different batch or what we call Date Code on the phone.
I might have a stuck pixel but since i haven't found it yet; it seems fine. I also don't notice any blotches others complain about (tried loading a black jpeg in a dark room). Hum. Battery life could be better; under heavy usage i only seem to get 3 to 4 hours; with very light usage i can get 2+ days (seems to drain about 10% per night).

mine came from amazon (new phone) last week - about 4 days old.

I have a stuck on pixel and have found another persons device with the exact same pixel, same color stuck on as well.
A couple questions...
If a pixel is visible in a screenshot wouldn't that be a software issue?
If it were a hardware issue the screenshot would come out all normal would it not?
What are the odds of having the exact same pixel stuck on with the same color?
It took about 27-30 days to show.
I picked up a GSM RAZR in the UK this Wednesday and within 5 minutes of use noticed one bright pixel - easily visible on a dark background - then setting a solid black wallpaper managed to spot another 3 that are less bright but still visible to my 40yr old eyes without using any special tools.
The brightest pixel is about 10% up from the bottom and 30% from the left side.
I have an exchange arranged after Christmas but this thread is making me think that isn't going to solve the problem...
The one things I know for certain is, screen quality is not what it used to be. Lately almost all devices I have owned have had pixels stuck on or dead. I think it's the best way for manufacturers to save money. My last two HTC Sensations had bad pixels along with other screen defects as did my EVO 3D, I never expected it with the AMOLED's though
Sadly my stuck pixel showed up about 30 days after purchase and no, I didn't just not see it. So I have very little faith in getting a replacement and my device is spot on other than that so I may live with it.
I don't know the answers to your questions, but I do know I'd take this screen over the bionic/x2.

Yes, you're absolutely correct that if you take a screen grab and the screen grab shows the error, then it's software.
The screen grab will only register what is coming from the source BEFORE it sends information to the display. That's registered in the OS pre-GPU even. So that definitely confirms software not hardware.
From there, that sounds like it could be a driver issue more than anything else. I'm not fully versed, yet, on how android works from a driver perspective. I know it's similar to Linux, but is java language driven...or at least that's my rudimentary knowledge. Something in the code is causing this, and would be more of a question for a motorola software engineer than a hardware person.
Also, from that perspective, Motorola probably shouldn't be allowing RMA's on the devices because it's not a hardware failure, but that's probably a discussion that needs to happen between Verizon and Motorola.
I'll see if my friend that works at Moto Mobility knows about this, or if there's internal discussions about this, and get back to you guys.

AMOLED technology is not all that different from LCD technology. The difference is just where the light source is coming from. In LCD's the light source is behind the active matrix sub pixel array that creates your RGB color schemes.
AMOLED's use the actual materials that make up the active matrix as the light source. Eliminating the need for the backlight assemblies, but still requiring the same "pixel" configuration to work.
So pixels are still able to stick in either technology, and one is not better than the other when it comes to quality, or number of pixel defects per panel, as the production process by which they create the substrates only is a slight variation.
In fact, because the organic material is a bit harder to apply than a standard active matrix, you actually end up with higher failures per substrate.
Hence why AMOLED's are only seen in small sizes, because it's not cost effective to produce larger substrates since more waste is created based on bad applications of the materials.
There are starting to be newer application methods that are going to come online in the next couple of years that will increase output vs waste, which will bring AMOLED substrate costs down, but right now that's not the case.
I'm actually headed to China in March to visit one of these new facilities that Tianma is building just outside of Shenzhen.

fuuu...Verizon wouldn't let me exchange it because the pixels weren't "prominent" enough
Just received my new RAZR after spotting a bright pixel and a few dark ones on my old handset.
Pleased to report that there are no bright or dark pixels on this one!
Dead pixels drive me NUTS!
Verizon should let you exchange them, that sucks if they didnt.
yea, i actually went to a different Verizon store and they gave me a replacement phone without looking twice (now i'm just waiting for it to arrive in the mail)
hopefully it's not all messed up like the Amazon batches
For those of you who've replaced your screens either DIY or via LG warranty replacement...please post how your screen quality and viewing angles compare to the original LCD.
I'll start...
1. On my Current G2, I had a perfect screen. Perfect viewing angles and excellent image quality with no defects
2. Ebay Replacement screen #1 had dead pixels and Mira lines.
3. Ebay replacement screen # 2 had horrible color. Almost black and white
4. Amazon replacement screen has great color & image quality but lesser degree of viewing angles.
It's hard to explain but easy to compare to other G2s and phones when you compare side by side.
After all these screen swaps in the last couple months I've decided to keep this screen and use the phone as is.
How does your replacement screen compare to the original one?
I got LG performed a "total refurbished" when I dropped and shattered my screen.
It came back and looked like new, no difference to the original.
After a shattered screen i got it replaced.two months waoting time.now have jdi panel but brightness is very low and have lots of screen bleed around the edges.the repairman did not do a good job but the panel itself is of lower quality.color and contrast ok but luminosity is about 70%of the original...not happy but no money for yet another panel...
Conclusion:dont drop the phone...
After having touch screen issues on my phone (no-touch zone, ghost touches), I bought a replacement screen for my D800 off eBay.
Got it replaced and so far, the quality (colours, brightness, touch accuracy) is very good. I'd say the screen is slightly more yellow than my original screen but it's by no means an issue.
The screen I got for my "new" Z3, is full of problems. It has press marks(areas on the screen which appear brighter/whiter) and the screen "flickers" on high brightness. My friend can't see it well, but I can very clearly see the screen going bright->dark->bright->dark slightly and very quickly.
Dropped mine and got it replaced at a cheap place in Bangkok.
Colours are the same, viewing angles are not as good, but
those doesn't matter to me.
Been 2 months dropped phone again, screen shattert again...
Biggest supprise: Touch is still working perfectly! Seems like the cheap replacement screen doesn't have the NoGap technology like the original ones haha. Seems like win win to me!

Thanks for the responses guys and sorry to hear about your screens.
Made a new poll. Please participate.
I'm trying to make a case that there are different versions of LCD panels made by different manufacturers.
They don't advertise which is which but we're starting to notice now that we're having out screens replaced.
I replaced my LG D800 screen with one from Amazon and the colors are slightly darker but other than that no big deal. I didn't do a good job with the replacement so there is definite light bleed on the edges and after four months of using it im getting ghost touches if I press on the lower portion of the screen. Don't think it's quite worth the $80 replacement to try again and get it right, just something I'll deal with until a new phone comes out and I can get it replaced all together.
Similar experience to laboratik except the repair was done at LG so the workmanship is good. But it is jdi panel and darker than the original.
Thank you guys for the responses. This thread should be helpful to others in our same situation.
The sad fact is that the market is flooded with aftermarket screens made by who knows.
Just compared my screen with the S6 Edge and have to say I'm very impressed with the image and color on this replacement screen however that's where the buck stops.
The reduced viewing angles are tolerable at best. I'd hate to remove this replacement screen send it back all over again...roll, dice pray I get a perfect match but unless I'm removing it from a G2 myself I'm starting to believe it's not likely it'll happen.
Check out this review on Amazon re: the screen I have.
This guy nails my current situation

I got a few of them from eBay, I can link you the buyer if you want, I've sold them and they are close to OEM, they only have one MAJOR flaw, they are thicker. While you'd think this wouldn't be an issue, they are thick enough to not be able to slip into most cases, so it's annoying.

That's the ebay seller I use for replacement parts.
So far the screens have been OEM quality( G2, GPro, AHD) I've bought a few from there, and they all have great quality, except for the thickness, they all seem to be thicker, this is probably due to it not being real gorilla glass, and just a knock off lol.
it looks like my replacement screen for LG service center has slightly lower sunlight legibility than original,
I dont know which panel is this, but brightness is reduced

After removing the Amazon screen and reinstalling the original one, I notice the Amazon one has slightly higher ppi/contrast with a smoother looking picture....WTH
Now if I can have that with the original screen's viewing angles I'd be golden....
Oh well....time to pack it back and return it back...will report back shortly

Hye guys. Im sorry if im in the wrong thread. Right now im in need for lg g2 d802 lcd full assembly replacement but im in tight budget right now. I can afford max for 60 bucks. I've heard about "crazy touch" issue too so im afraid if im not lucky enough to get one of those. Anyone here have experienced with these full lcd assembly from ebay? That one almost certainly looks like it will be a low quality replacement you will be unhappy with.
My personal opinion, if you want a full frame screen replacement....at least get one with the LG logo.

My shipment status says expected delivery Wed, Apr 15. Hope there are no more delays. Will keep the thread posted on how the screen performs.
hello people, i bought grey RN3 in May/June from Amazon.in but it had this weird dark area in the bottom right of the screen (pics attached), it was very annoying, I think its some kind of backlight/lcd liquid defect, i replaced it immediately, but the replacement unit had also have a smaller dark area in the bottom left side so i refunded because i was fed up of replacing again and again.
i wanted to buy something of better quality. but there are still nothing better under 20k/300$ than RN3, and many people don't have this kind of screen issue.
So if you recently bought RN3 (especially grey coz it has tianma lcd panel, other variants have sharp/boe), please inspect the screen and confirm if your unit has this defect or not, if possible kindly take pics of screen with a white background like i did. Thank you!
Redmi Note 3 3/32, dark gray, boe screen, atmel touch, date on box 2016.07
it's perfectly white (it may doesn't look perfectly white on image, but trust me, it is)
from which site you bought it on, yours is probably made in China. Indian units are made in India now, these Indian factories are new so quality control is meh. also Boe/Sharp are better than tianma
I bought it from Polish importer and yes, this device has been made in China for sure.
---------- Post added at 13:18 ---------- Previous post was at 13:13 ----------
But I noticed strange glow, in the bottom of the screen, when the backlight of the touch buttons is on, so I turned it off. Try it too.
I turned off button backlight and then clicked these pics, I no longer have the device coz I refunded it in June
Atmel/BOE touch screen, and no issues with screen other than there is a very minor light bleed at the top which I can really only see in a dark room with a black background on the phone.
Ordered from Geekbuying end of August.
Dude, if you don't want to buy RN3 again, then Galaxy On8 (Edit: Not On7 2016, sorry) with SD625, 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM, FP on front, f/1.9 13MP camera and 1080p AMOLED display (india specific) will be a good option below 20k. Just wait for it to be relased in India. First Samsung beast phone below 20k. Only downside of it's compared to RN3 is little bit lower processor, but SD625 is a good processor too. Also, On8 has way more better camera and better metal body design compared to RN3. Just a friendly suggestion. Don't bite me Xiaomi fans. I'm a RN3 user talking.
Yeah but my main concern is development, samsung phones doesn't get good xda support roms/kernels unless it's S or note series, can't live without CM/aosp based roms and definitely won't like using touch**** ui. and btw on7 16 has tft screen not amoled
Oh, this is right that Samsung phones don't get development. What a bummer.
About On7 2016 having TFT - No, I was actually talking about On8 releasing in India on first week of october. It has AMOLED.
Yeah on8, considering dev support i only have 2 options, rn3 or g4+. g4+ has a good screen but not very impressive as whole, only if it had better build, 625/650 and bigger battery...*sigh*
also if Xiaomi had gone with a better display and gorilla glass, rn3 would be perfect.
i cant see the dark thing you are talking about in your screenshots, there is very little shady affect at the bottom, which is in MIUI itself, and comes only when you are in some sort of lists, otherwise its fine, I recently purchased dark grey variant.. and its absolutely fine, it has tianma panel. I dont know what is source of your info, but i have used all three variant of RN3, and the dark grey variant has most vibrant and beautiful display, it has better vewing experience than other too..
This is what I wanted to know if recent units have this problem or not, it's dull in the pics but it was very difficult to ignore when seen live, it's only on the bottom right or left, which makes it a hardware issue.
which site you bought it from and which month?
Can you tell me which site you bought it from and which month?

Being a Vodafone user, I have some insurance which comes with it. Raised a claim from them. Need to submit few docs. Let's see how it goes.. Is the touch sensitivity as fluid as it was in the original one. Broke my display in my previous phone but after the stock display is changed, the touch was not as responsive

Has anyone tried to replace screen from anything available from aliexpress
I just enquired with mi service center here and they charge a ridiculous rs 6133 for the screen replacement. Anyone have newer updates for a good screen.
Original screen for POCO F1
I thought the back cover could probably the first part gets damage, cause it's plastic. Sorry to hear that. You know you can check witrigs for the part, reliable, and they always sell original parts. Original is the most important thing for cellphone repair for me. Hope this can help you。
Hi,
@Kaadyep
Mine was broken as well. I ordered one on Aliexpress. Seller is Trafalgar (can't post link, rating is 4.9 at the moment, at 100 orders) and cost around 30-38 USD inclusive tools.
Fits perfect and work without issues and no bleeding. The included tools are ok, just the Torx is not fitting. Open the phone is easy but the display is glued. Since the display was broken anyway, i just used one of the included plastic clips and push it under the edge of the broken display, go one round and then you can remove it. The phone still need to be fully disassembled since the flat cable is under the motherboard and battery pack. After that I used very thin double sided tape on the edges to glue the new one in. That is 2 weeks ago and no issues.
Hope that helps.

Have anyone here tried shatterfix.com? They replace it at a cost of 3500 inr
Is it just me or does the screen seem excessively fragile? I have heard many stories of broken screens from really short falls

The Manufacturer in the System Details shows "dsi_tianma_fhd_nt36672a_video_display". Not sure why it's named fhd cause the resolution is the right one (1080 x 2246 pixels).
Regards
Chris
WTF, the quotations were a ripoff (to me atleast) but you can save like half and install it on your own if you buy online from China.

It could be that the FHD only denotes the 1080 part then the other would be dependend on the aspect ratio. You could say that a panel is FHD but the ratio might be 21:9 (ultrawide), 18:9 (for smartphones), 16:9 (regular), etc.
poco F1 screen reppacement is not so hard
any one can easily replace poco F1 screen or you should visit nearby to get fix , it will cost you 2300 to local market ( good quality screen)
Hello, there.
Unfortunately, I've dropped my mi mix 3 and I was looking to a new screen.
Looking around I've found many offers with a wide range of prices.
The question is that the Mi Mix 3 feature a Samsung Amoled 6.39 inch but it is impossible to find, everywhere I'm finding an LCD replacement. Can someone help me out?
Plus, I was a bit worried about the screen replacement procedure but then I saw this video which takes a totally different approach and made the whole thing much easier...

Still, I can't find the Amoled version anywhere but only the LCD version...
Cheers

Goodluck https://www.witrigs.com/oem-screen-replacement-with-frame-for-xiaomi-mi-mix-3-black
Hi, i searched on aliexpress, there are lots of options but it is $100+, so in my case I ordered 6.39 lcd display, and it looks better than other analogs, costs 45 usd but it has a special plastic spacer under the display, so it sticks up a bit more, looks fine... On aliexpressI think itis 3 options lcd, led and amoled... No clue what is the one in middle. I bought mine from chila lcd seller
Upd: I think 100+ is for original there, not 'oem', but not sure
I try to order one (100+$) but the quality was awefull. some part of the screen was unreponsive.
I bought one from second hand market. Under warranty and never opened for -300$
I had the same problem, dropped my phone and screen replaced with original. Contact with this adress maybe you can order original one. Genpa is authorized service in Türkiye for Xiaomi.

I bought the witrigs one. It certainly seems genuine to me. I'm happy.
I had a honor 8 before, I'd say I bought 6-8 screens for it and never found a good one

Where do you find LCD? I can't even Find it. (I hate amoled with their burn in issues. I love lcd)
Any existing Mix 3 users that had to replace the screen in the past?
Which one did you buy and that you are satisfied with it?
Honestly I don't know which one to look at (primarily I am looking on ebay). There are some that the title say it's amoled, but I am not sure.
Any advice?
I bought the original amoled screen in aliexpress for 80€.
Happy with it!
