Hello everyone,
I found a big time glitch on the lock screen. If your screen is locked and you let it time out that top layer with the time on it appears when you cut it back on. Just move it out the way and your phone is unlocked without a pattern code needed. How do I stop this?!?!?

DUDE, do you read any of tech blogs? This was reported over the weekend and ATT and Samsung are working on a fix. Just sayin its a known issue and I don't believe a fix has been issued.
Actually I dont, but thanks for the info
Go to
Settings/location and security/timeout
And set the lock screen to immediately

A fix has not been issued but a workaround has been.
I have a feeling none of you will like the actual fix. The work around more like a fix. The only bug here is the pattern unlock screen showed up when it shouldn't. And it has nothing to do with security breach or not.

Working as intended ... This is the setting to make it work how you want!!!!
my personal fix was to use No Lock to turn off that stupid swipe thing, and added WidgetLocker.

I set my timeout to "Immediately", let the screen go off, and have to enter pattern to get back in.

Here is how is suppose to work (when you have the timeout in Lock settings, not display settings, set to anything other than immediately:
1. You power on the phone, you need enter the unlock pattern.
2. You hit power button or let the display time out, the phone screen goes off.
3a. If you wake up the phone within the timeout period you set above, you should be at a normal swipe screen without the need to enter your unlock pattern.
3b. If you wake up the phone after the timeout period, you should see a pattern unlock screen and you need to enter the unlock pattern to unlock your phone.
The bug is in 3a, it showed the pattern unlock screen instead of the normal swipe screen. That's what confuseed a lot ppl. There is no security risk here. It works as it is designed to do but Samsung made a mistake to display a wrong screen.
This timeout feature is designed to be a convience feature so that you don't have to pattern unlock your phone frequently if you're actively using it. You will only be asked for pattern unlock if the phone idles for certain amount of time you set. If you don't like this and like to be asked to unlock everytime, you should set the time out to immediately anyway.

Have you actually gave this try. I completely understand how the time out period works and I guess we all do, but your not getting where the bugs are in plural because there's two I found.
Bug 1. No matter what's your time out, it's not supposed to let you in the phone without you actually putting the password. If you let the screen sleep in the lock screen next time you wake the phone there's no password to put in. It let's you in
Bug 2. If you set time out to immediately. The Password protection lockscreen disabled right after you unlock your phone.

That's the whole reason why you have a timeout setting in lock screen. If you wake up the phone within timeout (timeout of the lock screen, not timeout of the display), you don't have to unlock it. If you don't like this, set to immediately.
I don't use pattern lock (which is ridiculously easy to crack). I have exchange policy on my phone with PIN password. It does not suffer from any bugs like pattern lock.
Don't understand what your mean in bug #2.

I like the feature; same as on Honeycomb.
I am having this problem...I lock the screen however if i push the power button to bring the screen on, I will see where i have to put in my pin or if i use the pattern if i do nothing and let the screen go off again i wait 2-3 seconds and push power again the screen comes on and all you have to do is drag the screen saver and you are in.
How come it doesnt stay locked? Is this a glitch I am using the stock system

Thanks alot, I was tryng to search google and kept getting nothing that applied to what I was searching for. Guess I was using the wrong terms
I just installed a CM10 rom and I LOVE IT.. however I have one big issue that is hard to deal with. An app I have (lotus traveler) requires device administrator access, and it imposes a policy which says I have to have a password lock. In addition, I am allowed to have a lock timeout of at most 30 minutes before the password comes into effect.
On GB, ICS any phone this has always worked great. I set the timeout to 30 minutes. If I lock the screen, I just swipe to unlock. After the 30 minutes of being locked, a password must be entered to get past the lock screen.
On this ROM (and I have read all the others on JB?) there is no way to have a lock screen w/o a password. I think I can live with this. But I would really like to be able to set "lock timeout" to the 30 minute max policy provided by the software I installed.
Does anyone know what to hack & where to extend this to 30 minutes? I am rooted and unlocked of course. I have seen other JB phones (i.e samsung) showing screenshots with times up to 30 minutes.
Edit: should mention the MAX today is only 10 minutes. Also "lock delay" in the app store doesn't help if you have an app requiring password lock all the time.
It hasn't changed, you can still set the delay. Most ROMs it should be menu >Settings >Lockscreen >security, it something similar.

Dang! I wish I knew what to change in my rom to get that enabled (mine just goes from 30 seconds -> 10 minutes). I'm just using that "4th night nightlies" ROM "recovery-ra-vigor-3.16-gnm.img.zip".
demmo86rt -- Yeah I have the setting but it maxes out at 10 minutes. And when I do use it, it isn't like ICS/GB was... Before it used to be:
1) Using phone
2) screen goes off
3) Before the timeout, push unlock button
4) Screen comes on, lockscreen, swipe ring and unlock and go
5) If you wait till after the timeout, push unlock button, you must enter the PW first on the on screen keyboard
---- With JB ----
1) Using phone
2) Screen goes off
3) Before the timeout, push unlock button
4) Comes up to home screen. No lock screen protection
5) If you wait till after the timeout, push unlock button, you enter the PW ON the lockscreen and that clears it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm fine either way but I would really like the timeout to be 30 instead of 10 minutes

Yeah, that's how mine is on LiquidSmooth (with all the options up to 30 min). I normally don't use lockscreen security, but I enabled it after reading this post to see how it worked. I do like the delay, but would rather have the regular swipe to unlock before the timeout. The main reason I don't use the security is because it irritates me to always put in the stupid pattern, but I don't like it waking straight to the homescreen, too much chance of something opening up in my pocket.

Maybe I should go post this back in the forum thread for the ROM I installed.. I bet it's something that can be changed.
Yeah the "waking up straight to homescreen" is a new thing I found in JB.. It never worked like this before. I think the issue is android developers don't typically have to deal with the corporate security requirements.. Thats the only reason I have to have a password, it is required by the application that is installed.
SOLVED!

Not sure if you found a solution, but I had the exact same problem.... until I found this post on another site. (Updated) - It did NOT work for me in the end. Seems to work for Moto users, but not for various Samsung users (I'm on Cyanogenmod 10.2, but tried the other versions to no avail).
Cheers
This behavior is affected by two different settings:
<Menu> -> System Settings -> Security ->Automatically Lock
<Menu> -> System Settings -> Display -> Sleep.
The administrator policy requires a 30-minute maximum timeout for the combination of both the Display Sleep and Automatically Lock. If you see "Immediately" as the only option for Automatically Lock then your Display Sleep timer is set to 30 and won't allow any time left for automatic lock.
I have my Pocophone F1 protected with a PIN. However the screen does not always lock when I turn it off (either using the on/off button or waiting for the display timeout) - i.e. when I turn it back on I am often not required to enter my PIN.
What dictates when the screen actually locks? I have no trusted devices set up to keep the screen unlocked.

Doh! Yes of course. Thanks!
Problem:
Realme 3 pro screen goes black and touch doesn't work while watching video at Facebook, Instagram or any other platform, once the screen turns black it doesn't come back until formatted completely. Even when lock screen button is pressed or a call is attended and screen turns black it just completely goes black and touch doesn't work.
What I tried already:
1. Software is updated to latest.
2. Panel changed but didn't help.
3. Battery changed but didn't help.
4. Formatting the mobile from safe mode brings back the screen and it's operable until the next blackout.
5. Set the screen timeout timer to 30 minutes so it doesn't go black.
Any sort of help will be greatly appreciated as I am stuck with this phone in this quarantine. I am available to provide more information all the time. Thank you in advance.

Sadly, No. I had to take it to the realme service center and they said the whole motherboard would be changed so, I just left the phone at peace in the cupboard. You may try your luck, I hope things turn out better for you.
