Folks,
New Verizon customer, now s.t. Verizon's data limits. Monitoring Data Usage via <Settings> <Data Usage> and noticing that there's an app/process that accounts for 25% of my data usage MTD, and, unlike the other apps that are recognizable (Google Play, NY Times, Facebook, etc.), I have no idea what this app is or does.
It's labelled as 'Unified Daemon(EUR)'. I've frozen it for now using TB, but I'd prefer to know what it is and why it's consuming from my data plan allowance. Anyone know?
Thx!
*bump*
I am having the same issue on my S4...any ideas?

by way of follow-up...I froze the app using Titanium B/up a couple weeks ago and have experienced no unusual issues. As the poster above mentions, I believe it may be related to one of the default-loaded 'widget' apps, perhaps Yahoo News or Yahoo Finance; I've also frozen these, as I don't use them.
While investigating this issue, I also came across a recommendation for an app called Greenify, which I now highly recommend. It's kind of a fail-safe in that it basically allows you to prohibit apps from running in the background while still allowing you to use them when you'd like (unlike freezing or deleting).
It is boatware WeatherWidgetDaemon.apk
Everyone can restrict background access by going into Data usage, clicking the app you are interested in, and then thick Restrict background data.
You don't need an extra app for that.
This unified Daemon sucker used about 3MB in one day that's something. I also enabled weather in my S Planner calendar, I wonder if it uses extra data to download weather info data or it uses the same data as the widget.
But are you sure this sucker only handles weather data?
It is a unified Daemon and i am testing to fix the issue now. I Just cleared the data for it after the 4.3 update and restarted. Im going to see if i get the same issue.
Update: 2 seconds later after the restart and its fixed. Just go to applications manager and clear the data for the Unified Daemon(EUR) towards the end of the list

This issue started after the Samsung update. I tried this in January when the process used over 2 GB of data between 2am and 6am when it ran the battery down and shut the phone off. The service turned itself back on and kept using data, so I disabled it by turning it off. After the new billing cycle began, I tried turning it back on, this time it used 250 MB of data after I went to bed one evening. Clearing the data does nothing to stop this from using massive amounts of data. I would like for this to be fixed, however, because with it off, the Briefing alarm doesn't update the weather and it no longer reads the news stories. This was never a problem until the latest Samsung OS update. Is there an estimated date when this will be fixed? My favorite feature of the phone is the briefing alarm which has been disabled by stopping this Unified Daemon (EUR).
Seems something to do with a game called ingress
I installed this game an noticed huge data consumption next day. I think this game Ingress uses background data which uses - Unified Daemon(EUR) for its updates or whatever.
I found out that the app is used for samsung weather widget...i recommend you to delete it in case of huge data usage
Last night in just a couple of hours, the unified daemon (eur) consumed 1gb of data - my monthly subscription gone! galaxy s4, 2015/10/16
I have added Whatsapp and Hike to the protected app list, but still when the app is closed it stops getting push notifications.
Is this really an bug? If yes, Do we have a workaround for this?
IN Honor 7, it was working fine.. But 5X is having some problem it seems.

I'm having the problem of late notifications... If i recieve a notif on fb, the notif will appear on panel about 9 min later

The problem seems to be with the device correctly registering with Google's push notification servers. I tested the device and it failed a simple push notification test sequence, which my Moto E passes every time.
This is very disappointing, because both my wife and I purchased the 5X and it isn't working properly for either of us.
I think I'm going to flash CyanogenMod and see if it's better.
Update: replaced stock ROM with CM13, so far so good!
Hi everybody,
I also am having problems not getting push notifications on my Honor 5X from my Arlo (home security camera) app. When the camera senses motion, it sends a notification and records a video. My phone does not receive a push notification, however, when I open the Arlo app I am able to see the video that was recorded.
The funny thing is, I can get immediate push notifications from my Arlo camera on my Motorola Moto X (1st generation) phone.
I have given my Arlo app every notification permission that there is.
I have spent weeks exchanging emails with Arlo tech support, and they have had me try every possible solution in the book, but nothing has worked. It's very discouraging.
UPDATE: I just installed an app called Push Notifications Fixer, and when I walked in front of my Arlo camera, I got an immediate notification! Amazing!
Does Push Notifications Fixer works for anyone in EMUI ?
Guys!
I found a quick solution for anyone who is missing notifications when the app is closed by taskmanager or force close.
It's something I just tested multiple times and this solution seems to be the only working one.
I missed a lot of notifications for WhatsApp and Facebook since i closed them on the task manager screen.
The app and the service are being closed both when you do that.
However i found out that when making in a widget keeps the push service keeps working, even after closing the app manually.
I use nova launcher so i created widgets and resized them to the smallest possible.
You can now close these apps without any problems and keeping your notifications alive.
Let me know if it also works for you guys.
Should work with any app that can create widgets as well.

Had the same issue (not getting notifications from the Arlo app), tried the Push Notification Fixer app, but that didn't solve the problem. Found this page explaining the issue and how to resolve it and that worked beautifully. All good now. Wanted to share to help out others. Good luck!
I searched XDA, Google and the official site of LeEco. I have found similar problems with push notification(Whatsapp, Email.) But no direct solution for the leEco max 2.
I've tried different roms, chinese and india, because of the EUI layout that i like.
I tried all the settings that are mentioned: Priority notification on, no battery saving, no clearing of tasks, installing Push notification fixer, reinstalled from scratch, and now on stock indian 5.8.19S.
But still no push notification when the phone is in sleep mode. After 30 minutes no use. Only after manualy activation of the phone.:crying:
Has anybody a solution for the EUI Rom? Or is the only option to try CM on the phone?
I appreciate all the help. Big Thanx in advance.:fingers-crossed:
In addition to what you have mentioned, you should put these apps in auto launch mode+app protection from phone manager.
Make sure that you have also enabled auto-sync data from account management.
Whatsapp and messenger notifications are working fine with these settings on indian rom 19s. However, I faced problems with Gmail notifications in other customs roms.
Autolaunch and app protection usually solves it

Settings plus, did it for me.
The Enable background resource control in the hidden menu.........I switched it off............no problem anymore for me with notifications. Whatsapp, Gmail, etc..... @sdevaux Thanx for the useful tip. @lukam01 and @anameeeen for helping out
This looks like a global sync issue that I've been trying to solve for almost a month now. Coming from the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro, I've been experiencing the same exact auto sync problems on both the Note Pro, and the Le Max 2. Gmail and Yahoo mail (or any other email client that I've tried) won't sync and give notifications unless I open the apps manually and refresh. I tried pretty much everything I could find on the internet to no success. Whatsapp works most of the time, but every once in a while it start's doing the same.
Power management is off, the apps involved have all the required permissions, they're set to auto launch, global sync is enabled (tried turning it off and on again to no effect), and of course, sync is also enabled in each individual app. Background resource control is off (hidden menu).
I have removed my accounts from both devices countless times, cleared the cache, data, uninstalled/reinstalled the apps, re-added the accounts individually...
I don't know what's going on, but I'm talking about 2 different devices and 2-3 different roms on both (the devices were set up as new every single time, not restored with Ti Backup), so I'm pretty sure it's a global issue.
Same issues here. In addition, some apps just plain don't work if the phone is asleep. I prefer using Google Clock for my alarms, and textra for my text messages. However, if the phone is asleep, the alarm will NEVER sound and I will NOT get text messages. I'm not just talking about not getting notifications for text messages, I'm talking that if someone sends me a text message I will not EVER get it. They only way to fix is to use the STOCK clock and text apps. Crazy.

Yes, but this did NOT help fix the Google Clock app. I have read other threads with people having the same issue with some google apps. The theory seems to be that perhaps the way gapps is added by LeEco into their roms breaks something having to do with notification system.
Maybe try an indian base rom, like Revolution 19s. Inadian roms have google apps natively installed

But I believe the Indian Roms also encrypt your phone by default, CN roms don't. Don't want any encryption slowing down my phone.
Stock Indian roms encrypt data, but in revolution version the encrypition is removed by rom developer

I have the same problem, I try all roms, the only rom that works and enable notifications even in sleep mode it is cuoco92 5.8.015S
It's a big problem for Leeco, notification doesn't work correctly
It's a Rom issue. Works perfect for me with Mokee
can you guys confirm that in mokee and cuoco all notifications work well. i tried everything from forums and this thread, whatsapp is fixed, but i simply cant force gmail notifications to come properly. huge disappointment in this phone because of it. so i just want this to work with stable custom rom and that camera works as in stock rom...any recommendations?thanks
anyone,please?
Use lucky patcher and move your Gmail/inbox to system app. Works for me.
I have same issue after a while notifications stop to work, resetting Google play services helps but issue occurs after few hours again. Trying to install different versions to see if it helps. For now also stopped Android Wear...

Make apps can launch automatically, work for me

Same here. I'm on tiny eui which is hard on 20s and I have done all the power and app settings. Every app works and I get notifications but alarms through alarm clock extreme will not go off when the phone is in deep sleep. I cannot figure it out.
I know this is a topic existing over internet, I've googled it extensively, but up to now I haven't found a solution.
I've got a non-pro Mate 10, the Chinese version AL-00, rebranded to International/Global ALP L-29.
Approximately two to three weeks ago I got an update from 9 to EMUI 9.1, and maybe a week later, another update as a security patch. The current version of the software is 9.1.0301 (C636E2R1P12).
After the system update, I normally updated all the apps that needed updating and cleaned the phone's cache from bootloader. And although now I once again receive notifications from Google play when an app needs updating (I stopped receiving those a while back for an unknown reason), I stopped receiving notifications for virtually any messaging service or social network, including Gmail app.
To be more specific, when using Gmail, Facebook Messenger, Viber, Whatsapp LinkedIn or some other, I do not get notified of new messages/posts/emails whatever, UNLESS I am using the phone at that particular moment, or unless I am using that specific app at that moment. That also applies for my bank's custom app which should normally notify me instantly as soon as some expense occurs on my card. A few times it even happened that I would receive and reply to a FB message, close the app and like an hour later would receive a notification that that specific person messaged me.
This only started happening after that last update.
I tried turning off battery optimization for each and every single of those apps, I tried switching App launch to manual. It literally makes no difference. Force stopping and cleaning the cache of the apps doesn't help as well.
While I could live with it when it comes to FB or LinkedIn, I cant have Gmail or FB Messenger holding my messages for so long without notifying me. I need them for my work and sometimes time is of the utmost essence.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
EDIT: I just noticed that I'm having same problems with Google Keep app when using reminders
Please, guys, help!

Do you have root? Try freezing powergenie app, it should allow the notifications to come on time. The only issue is there might be a "slight" battery drain from more apps allowed to run in background. That was a dirty fix that worked even in emui 8/9 and peps seemed to have no issues even after the mod.
Since emui 9.1 introduces erofs file system, you'll have to either freeze the app in question everytime you reboot or create magisk module that during boot replaces contents of /system/app/HwPowerGenieEngine3 with empy folder - I'm not sure how removing odex files affects the thermals so I suggest just removing apk file and keeping everything else from the original directory intact if the temps and phone performance behave odly after doing this.
Feel free to give it a try, but I don't think it's actually worth doing it. The old forum post suggesting this mod actually overlooked the importance of power genie when it comes to temps + performance regulations across the board. Without it the temps will rise, phone won't supercharge and the performance will dip.
I'm actually playing around with this rn, trying to remove thermal limits on per app basis, if I come across anything I'll let ya know. Good luck

Yep I did, sometimes switching between WiFi and mobile network does activate the apps to check for new messages/mail, and sometimes it doesn't. I haven't noticed any clear pattern.
And it must be difference between XDA forums and the app. I swear I switched it when I bought the Mate. But I'm still on VIP/A1

No I haven't, but now that I checked, it was turned on all the time. However, knowing that sometimes this actually works, I toggled it off and back on several times and restarted the phone. I'll pay closer attention during the day to see if that helped and report back here. Thanks for the suggestion.
I too have this issue in my M10Pro specially in messenger. sometimes the chat icon doesn't appear even if i have an unread message.

Here's an update: Turning off and on the "Stay connected" option did not help at all, the real proof is that i received an email notification of cheeze.keyk replying to this thread, and I only saw it when I logged in on my PC. The phone did not notify me at all.
So the problem still persists, unfortunately. I am really hoping that I won't have to make a factory reset, although it is also uncertain if that would help at all.
totally bummed. my Mate 10 Pro screen just went crazy. It now has a bright green line all across the very bottom of the screen. And the whole screen now has a faint "screen door" effect going on. just enough to be irritating. I doubt I can live with it, but I loved this phone.

These two screenshots show show which apps I have frozen/disabled and which of the Google based apps have and don't have battery optimisation activated.
This essentially hasn't changed since I bought the phone over a year ago. Do you think I should do something with these apps or change some of their settings?

Hope that you put all checkmarks on Google Play Services and all other apps you have notifications problem.
Well as you can see, considering Google's apps, all is good.
I mean this one in Settings > Battery > App launch > Three dots > Manage manually, have a look on attachment.
So, my Email client, Google Play services, Moj Telekom, Viber and WhatsApp have set all three options: auto-launch, secondary launch and run in background. With this setup, I have no problems at all.
1. Me I have had almost every kind of phone you can think of form early palms, blackberries, Sony Ericsson P900, Nokia N9 (One of my all-time favorites) Surface duo (wanted to love but horrible experience) most of today’s flagships including all the Samsung folds. Got rid of my fold to get the pixel 6 pro mainly because of the camera and I loved it, I had no issues whatsoever. But I didn’t realize how much I would miss the fold and was going to go back to it when Oppo Released the N and it looked like the perfect hardware for me. After much consideration and reading I purchased from a Hong Kong Seller. And have been using for about 3 weeks now. Daily Driver. I absolutely love the phone, the size, the solid feel, great battery life. So far one of my favorite phones, I have used.
2. Once I got the phone, I researched all I could about the small and major quirks.
3. First thing I did was factory reset, the phone once it arrived. (They installed Google Play for me). Wanted to make sure nothing was installed, that I didn’t know about.
4. Easily found and installed the Google Play apk.
5. Next I download Apk Extractor and removed all the Chinese apps, that I could using it. (I didn’t want to use adb commands, fear of removing something needed). All the other leftover Chinese apps I placed in a folder and moved it out the way.
6.The Launcher is no big deal for me, on most of the phones I’ve had, I stuck with the default launcher. (Group text is an issue will discuss that later)
7. Started loading all my apps that I use games, banking etc. (around 250) tested them and everyone of the work. When I got to an app they didn’t display correctly on the open screen, I adjusted through the phone setting no app download.
8. Download new keyboard changed from the Chinese one.
9. Notifications limits, I set my main apps I need notifications from, but what I found was a lot of the social accounts Facebook, etc automatically was added to running in background and notifications and did not go against the limit. All my main apps I set to run in the background and made sure notifications was on and that a sound or vibration was set (the customizations for notifications are a lot) So far, I am notified we notifications come in. because I have a lot of email addresses I use home, work etc. I have always used Blue mail and it only counts as one notification.
10 Group message was a make or break for me, because send and receive a lot of group messages. And I have researched everywhere, tried different apps and no luck. The solution for me and it’s working well.
11. I decided to use Google Voice (I have had a number for years, so I tested it first for couple days) And now has officially ported my number to google voice, I can now get group messages etc. I will keep using until I they update the message issues or swap phone. I saved all my texts using SMS Backup & restore because you can not import the texts into google voice, but you can export them out. I saved all the old text on the new phone using SMS Backup & Restore, because if I need to find an old text it has a search fixture on it.
Conclusion so far, I am very happy with this phone, it’s an amazing piece of work. I know my post was long and for give me if it doesn’t make since. But if you have any questions on my experience just ask and I will do my best to answer.
Me too, this phone Is very good and pleasant to use as a daily driver . I have imaginée this phone before (i used the nec 05e,thé royole
flexpai 1,thé fold1and flold2 and several zflip). A little'more slimmer and lighter would bé perfect...but its ok.
M'y only complaint is about wifi calling with erratic behavior and disconnection ..maynbe a solution will occur..(more accurzte localisation or wiffi setting
i missed...)

Useful info here, thank you very much
Thanks for sharing your experience.
The Nokia N9 was one of the greatest phones ever.
And I too love the Oppo Find N.
After rolling with the Asus Padfone seriess for years (used the first gen Padfone for 1.5 years, and killed 3 new Padfone Infinities after that ). After that I had to switch to "boring" Asus Zenfones (had the 3 and 6)...
But now I finally have a fun and special phone again!
The best foldable ever this phone shifted me from iOS back to Android
To share my experience:
- The phone setup was painful and challenging. Reset, Install Playstore (with a Chinese Keyboard), delete and remove apps, Locale2 but now it feels like a normal phone I always use.
- The 5 apps notification limit is challenging. I use a messenger consolidator (Matrix based) so I only use one app there. You will need one for private and one for office email and I also needed one for the galaxy watch. So I had only one remaining. 2FA or Secure Code apps I normally need to load manually, same as credit card pushes.
- Hardware is amazing. Very solid construction. Guess I need to go caseless as the case adds to much bulk for me. But coming from a flip I feel those phones are unbreakable as long as they are closed. Charging speeds are decent (coming from a flip) and battery is holding more than one day in general.
- Software: There are nearly no apps optimized for big screen use. I miss the Kindle app from my surface allowing me to read a book "normally". Watching filmes is ok but you wont have more screen estate than on a S21Ultra by comparison. Fotos, Web is fantastic though. The OS Software is flawless, e.g. splitting screen with 2 Fingers is perfectly implemented. My hope is on Android 13 which is announced for this device in July, It should allow 3rd party developers to optimize their apps in a standard manner working on all foldables.
Generally: Very happy with this device. Caseless it is a one handed device for me and I use it as my only daily driver (except when near water or sand.)

I'm using Beeper. It can consolidate Signal, Telegram, Whatsapp, LinkedIn, iMessage, Twitter, Slack and GoogleChat.

I absolutely love this phone and form factor. It's the perfect size.
I've had a pretty easy time of it thanks to a few posts on here and Gadget goddesses videos as well as my own know how. Maybe it was a little cleaner and easier for me than others since I've been using using google voice since before google bought grandcentral and I'm also on T-mobile.
0. Clone my old LG v60 dual screen over using the phone cloaner this thing came with.
1. changed all my app's notification permissions, battery permissions in app management section to ensure notifications
2. added some important apps that I want guaranteed notifications to the auto launch and recent apps manager sections, but so far even the apps that aren't in autolaunch or recent apps seem to be doing ok on notifications. I use tasker to launch my hotspot automatically when I get in my car and have the car connect to it, so I suppose if I really cared I could use tasker to ensure all my apps stay running and notify me. But so far haven't had to.
3. Under apps, under the "associated launch" the "Blocking records" log to figure out which apps were important to support notifications or proper operation of some apps, and then just activated associated launch to those apps that were blocked from launching(launched by other apps in background). For instance, outlook needed to launch the "company portal" app in the background to properly function and also give me notifications on incoming mail. So I jsut activated associated launch for Company portal. I didn't allow associated launch for all apps, as when I really went through the log, there were only a handful of apps I needed to worry about and would rather the rest not able to just get launched in the background to save juice.
4. I set google voice to prioritize wifi and Data. I get crap signal where I live so this is a must. Basically this has always replaced my voice over wifi anyway on all phones I've used past and present. I like taking calls on my desktop as well.
5. I used "Force LTE" app from the playstore to ensure I got 5g connectivity, although I don't think I really need 5g because even on my old tmobile phone, I noticed in the areas I live 5g is slower than 4g lte anyway. This is a known thing on Tmobiles rollout of 5g in rural areas and I'll probably turn off 5g. I'm just mentioning this to let people know 5g on T-Mobile works fine with this phone.
6. activated google assistant using gestures on the main screen
7. deleted all the chinese apps I could without adb, there's 10 I couldn't delete. I'll probably dump those with adb but it hasn't really been an issue. like everyone else I just stuffed them in a folder and hid it away. Although it seems to be important to at least do the updates in the chinese only app store because one of the updates was to the phones native google services libraries, which is required for a lot of stuff to run correctly including biometric face authentication on some apps.
8. replaced the keyboard like everyone else.
9. Installed Google camera for the heck of it. Gcam
Anyway, I'm not hitting any "quirks" or frustrations. This has been a pretty smooth transition. And again, I just feel this thing is the perfect size for chrome "desktop mode" browsing and reading manga and other reading apps.
I've only found one or two out of more than a hundred apps I use that can't be set to full screen in the display section. I suppose having to rotate the phone for some apps is one quirk I've hit, but it's not a big deal to me.
Anyhow good luck owners, and for those thinking about buying it, I give it a good solid yes.

Good experience sharing - For me 5G always runs - no need to force. I use macrodroid to force the main apps into background when starting in the morning - so far it works.
At the end the Oppo Find N is the best foldable hardware - for foldables and for Tablets - Android is not fully there yet, mainly apps are just not yet optimized. Let's hope Android 13 is the basis for app developers to jump on the train...

Yeah, I just use the Force LTE app because it looks like they removed the preferred carrier band preference from settings on the find n. On all my other android phones, under mobile networks, there's usually a setting that allows you to pick which bands you want your phone to use. Like I said, 5g is actually slower for me than 4g, so I need a way to basically shutoff 5g when I'm in my home area. So without that setting on the android settings of the phone, I have to rely on an app like Force LTE. There's a lot of discussion on the interwebs about why 5g ends up being slower in some areas, like rural areas, than 4g. So it's something that will eventually get fixed and I won't have to worry about. But I just mentioned it in case someone needed a replacement for that android setting, not that people need it.
I've been using a Find N for about 2 months. I set up mine much like other people on this thread . Background on for almost all apps, auto-launch for main messaging apps, Google keyboard, Google assistant, GPay, default launcher, GCam/default Cam, Brave/Samsung Internet, Gmail/Outlook. I set up apps as full screen or 4:3 if they open sideways (still good to use). For social apps I use regular apps and WebApps too because the WebApps take full advantage of the big display (Instagram, Twitter and Instagram).
I've been playing games on emulators for the past 2-3 weeks (Switch and GameCube) and noticed yesterday that the screen protector on the big display has tiny marks (probably fingernails?). Is it ok to remove the factory screen protector and apply a new one? The marks are tiny and only on the "joystick area" so they don't bother me but I'm gonna eventually sell this in the future and may consider replacing the screen protector.
