I can't find a custom ROM for my device. Suggestions? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Device: Lenovo A916.
Android ver: Kitkat 4.4.1.
It seems lenovo only released one ROM for it and never updated it.
I am looking for a 5.1 or higher custom rom for it, but i cannot find a reputable place with one. All i found some questionable sites (only instructions, no comments or anything) or youtube videos that don't have comments.
Anyone knows of a reputable site where i can find custom roms for my device? Specifically 5.1+ android versions.

A question of ROMS

Hi All.
This question may seem trivial, and I've searched high and low for an answer but couldn't find one.
I have an Oppo R7g. This is running ColorOS version 2.1.0i and on android version 5.1.1.
In short I would like to install the Marshmallow release of android onto the phone, in effect replacing ColorOS. I have managed to Root my phone using the Oppotools and now I am looking around for the ROM. But I can't seem to find one.
I was surprised that there wasn't a release from Google that I could use. When googling for this I found the below link that links to factory images for nexus devices. It seemed like there was a different image per version for each device. This isn't what I expected. When I want to install windows or Ubuntu on my laptop I dont need to seek a particular version for my specific build of laptop. Is this different for phones?
What would happen if I took the latest Nexus 5X image and put it on my phone Oppo R7?
Thanks
Will

Android Kitkat 4.4 upgrade to 4.2 on Huawei Y330-U1 (or similar models)

Hello, sorry for yet another Pokemon Go related android firmware upgrade conundrom, but I' here to ask if anyone here knows of any custom/official firmware for Huawei Y330 that is Kitkat 4.4 instead of the standard Jelly Bean 4.2.2.
I've started my search by looking at phones with similar Chipset (MT6572) on wikipedia and looked at all of the specifications of the Huawei phones listed under that particular chipset to see if most match my phone. Problem is that my search for a custom Rom for Y330 specifically has yielded no results so far, so maybe a more generel approach finding roms from similar phones would be better.
If you know of or have any KitKat firmware for any of the phones listed under MT6572 in the provided Wikipedia page, especially if it's a Huawei, it would be a big help if you could provide a link/help for downloading and trying to install it on my phone.

Have Android O or Android P been ported to the SpreadTrum SC9853i-IA SoC?

Hi Everyone,
The title says it all: I own a Leagoo T5c running a SpreadTrum SoC, the SC9853i-IA, and so far, I've been able to flash a new ROM once, one still based on Nougat that was released in March of 2018, and a quick trip to the manufacturer's website informed me that it was the latest stable release as Leagoo recognizes it.
(Granted, there are newer ROMs on NeedRom, but a) I don't know where they come from (meaning, I'm not sure they're clean), and b) you've got to pay to download them)
Hence my question: do any of you know of newer ROMs based on either Oreo or (let's go crazy!) Pie? If the answer's yes, then where can I find them? I've Googled the subject and got nowhere.

Hi there,
Since its a GENERIC TABLET made by an unknown Chinese manufacturer, it's impossible to get a firmware update. The best way is for you to create a custom version of android using LINEAGE OS, and also porting a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP. But even though you have successfully created the OS you might not be able to install it on your Chinese Tablet.
Anyways if something happened during the process here's the link to download the stock firmware for that tablet :
https://www.cfirmware.com/index.php?a=browse&b=file-info&id=8942
USE SPFLASH TOOL TO install the firmware since it is an MTK device.
Sincerely

Yeah i started to go that route but have been unable to find a recovery for it or a lineage version for it. is it possible to use a twrp and linage for a different but similiar tablet?

Hi there,
Yeah Twrp is just a recovery software, and Lineage is just a custom ROM, so you can use it on a different tablet. But again you have to port those two software for it to work.
However you can research it on google to see how to port them on different phones or tablets.

NOPE, DON'T EXPECT ANDROID 8 OR HIGHER ROMS FOR THIS TABLET.
No one wants to develop software for old ****ing things that aren't iconic or popular enough nowadays, everyone's either focusing on modern phones from Google, Xiaomi, etc.... or phones that were literally hot **** back then (like the Samsung Galaxy S2, S3, S4, etc...)
Highest you can go is Lollipop (and maybe, Marshmallow?)

If your model is a 7D-50xx/S7-30xx variant, you can get custom ROMs for them.
For 7D-50xx (Mediapad X1) models, there's only a beta version of Lollipop from Huawei (and since it's a beta from Huawei, that means there must have been an official update already - go check your updates in the settings if your model is the 7D-50xx model.)
For S7-30xx (Mediapad T1, 7 inches) models, you can get CyanogenMod 10.1 running on it, but that is on 4.2.1. But since you don't give me the specifics of your model name, I don't think I'll be able to help you much.
hey may i ask how u managed to unlock the bootloader, i went through hell i have the 701W version but i can't find any proper solution.
