[Q] Verizon phone to Tracfone. How?

I'm wondering how (if possible) to flash a Verizon phone to be able to work with TracFone. The phone I currently have is a Samsung Droid Charge that has been rooted, but my question is directed more towards any Verizon smartphone. Thanks!
Bump.

[Q] I am wondering if I should buy the Moto E now or wait.

I am wondering if I should buy the Moto E now, or should I wait?
Let me explain. I currently own the Moto G (first gen) and I am interested in the Moto E because it has a built in Micro SD card slot. However, considering that this version of the device came out recently, I doubt that there is even a Cyanogen mod available for. I am not even sure that if it's been rooted and/or has alternative firmware available for it yet. The reason why I ask is because I use these devices as portable media players. I don't care about the phones or the 3G/4G aspect of it. I prefer it to be media player, gaming and internet access (via wifi) device. This is how I use my current Moto G.
The issue I am wondering about is the whole "Activation" thing when I buy it from either Boost Mobile or Sprint. Running the native firmware on the device, are they going to constantly nag me about activating the phone to their network, or not. If not, then I can probably buy the phone now. If not, then I will have to wait for CyanogenMod, or some alternative rooted firmware to be released.

id do some research before buying. we do have twrp and root for the lte models. no roms yet but im sure that will come in time. as for the cdma models ive never really saw any development. and without source there won't be and cm based roms yet. i cant comment on the boost, verizon or sprint models but my unlocked gsm model is more than i ever expected from a mid-range device, you won't be disappointed. my intention is to keep it until the new moto g 2015 lte model comes.

prepaid verizon moto e on non prepiad verizon plan

Hello,
i have a quick question about the Verizon prepaid moto e
would the prepaid moto e work on a regular Verizon plan? or can it be modded to work on a regular plan?
was looking to pick one up to replace my Verizon Galaxy s3. its getting aged and im sick of the lack of software updates(doesn't help i got my GS3 late enoufgh it had the update that where the bootloader couldn't be unlocked/bypassed)
Thanks
I would like to know also.
It works, just plug in the sim and go. I don't know if vzw will issue a post paid sim for it, we've only tried with sim swap from other device.

Thanks. I'm going from an env3 basic phone so no sim. I'll have to figure something out.

Is XT15285.1 (verizon) tethering locked? Because mine's not...

Hi,
I have an history of verizon cellphones in my hands (atrix hd, lg g2, lg g3, droid turbo) and every one of them had tethering locked to verizon plans.
The curious thing is that I never tried tethering with XT1528 (since there's no root), but today I was wondering through the config menu and went to the tethering menu, activated and worked! Is this one unlocked or Im the lucky one?
Im willing to have my device for testing if somehow I was lucky, but if tethering is just unlocked, well forget about this jejejeje.
Bye!
It's not locked. I've been using it on T-Mobile since I bought it. ATT phones usually have tether locked.

LG G Pad X 8.0 V521WG on Project Fi

So I bought the G Pad X intending to use it on Project Fi (the data only T-Mobile sim). Still sim locked I popped it in and it registered on the network and changed the apn's correctly for me automatically. But as soon as it got signal it would drop showing an X next to the empty signal bars, then get signal again, over and over. Flipping back and forth every half second. I rebooted and it started working great until I toggled airplane mode and it started doing it again. When it works seems random, but it'll work until signal is turned off or lost. Has anyone had similar issues?
Sidenote, it's possible unlocking it may help, but it seems to accept the sim as T-Mobile since there is no error. I put my Verizon sim in for comparison and it flat refuses to acknowledge there is any sim inserted. Anyone wondering, the G Pad X does support two of the Verizon LTE bands so it is theoretically possible to use it that way.
Hoping the Android 7 upgrade (whenever that will be) will upgrade the radio as well.
The LG G PAD X is not a supported device that would work on Project Fi. You can pretty much only use select devices, most of which are Nexus devices, on Fi:

This is true of the normal call sim cards. But they sell data only sim cards that only do T-Mobile (no sprint, no calls) that they advertise for tablets and cell phones. They say on their website you can use it in any T-Mobile or unlocked GSM device.
To anyone looking to use the V521WG on FI: Just updated my T-Mobile G Pad X 8 (still carrier locked) to version 10e, and it now works great with Project Fi!
Downside is I now don't have root, but I'll live with that until the dev's figure it out.
I'm looking to do the exact same thing for my parents. They just signed up for Fi and I wanted to get my mother a light weight cheap tablet. (It was between the galaxy A 8 and this one, I think this one is better).
Just to be clear, eventhough it is CARRIER LOCKED, you can still put in a fi sim card (which is another carrier) and it works?
Or did you mean to say the bootloader is locked
I've been looking on ebay and many of them seem like they are locked. If this isnt an issue, that simplifies things
FWIW i got a network unlocked / bootloader unlocked v521 on Swappa and it works great with the fi data card.

I know that doesn't fully answer your question but its a datapoint. There are services online that can carrier unlock devices for $10-30.
