Hi guys
I want to play files from my home file server through the wireless network on the SGS 2.
How can I do this ? Do I need to VPN in ?
yes i also need something like that to play my films from my pc on to my samsung phone... how do i do this?
I use CIFS and Mount Manager to access all my files. You have to be on the same network though. I never tried using a VPN to access files.
thanks mate but i only have 1 mac adress (because my carrier S*CKS) maybe i can try using hotspot... can you acces them and play them???
Did you try streaming the video? That way you would be able to access videos from anywhere and you would stream from your PC.
It's not an ideal solution but it could work on Android because I used something similar on my tablet once.
no i didnt but will try later after work... i only need it for the videos for the music i use audiogalaxy is freaking brilliant... its the best app for it.. no setup no nothing just install go to the webpage and your running its automatics find all your music on the pc.(for all try this) thanks a bunch
edit sorry last Q what do you use to stream videos
I use a paid remote connection app (Splashtop Remote) because it's fast and I can actually use it to play a video on my computer and watch it on my phone. It's not an ideal solution but it works for me when CIFS doesn't.
There is also this: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...quality-video-android-tversity-nswplayer.html
And this but I don't know if it works over a different network: http://www.appbrain.com/app/vlc-stream-convert/com.gmail.traveldevel.android.vlc.app
Whats the difference between these and using the allshare app?
Ricey
Any more suggestions on this ?
What if i want to transfer my files across from my PC to the phone if I'm not at home ?
Like .apk, photo files etc
yes vpn is necessary to get access your system out side the home....
Hi, I picked one of these up the other day, really impressed (£100 in Hmv).
First, just incase people don't know this machine, out of the box (on Froyo) has a brilliant iplayer function, where if you use the Dolphin HD browser (desktop mode) on the iplayer website you can download shows directly (through wifi) to the machine so can watch on the go.
Not many portable devices allow this, but it's something I always look for (old Nokia phones, and the Galaxy tab (original) had it, I don't think that it's that we'll known a function, may help some folk.
Q... Okay now here's my question... Any uk users know whether I would lose this function if I updated to Gingerbread ?... I know the 2.3.6 is kind of official in Europe, but maybe if I use Odin to install it I may lose the iplayer function ? Maybe it might reject the license acquisition if I use a Eurpean update ?
I have never been into roms, rooting etc, but would like to try if I don't lose the iplayer.
Thanks
Probably not, I don't think there's any difference in the video player. Backup the stock video player using Titanium (once you have rooted) and then install whatever you want.
Here's the story: S2 running on ICS: since music hub is not supported in my region (namibia), i installed market unlocker. when i choose any market, except local, music hub works fine. search, buy, download, etc.
now i installed JB and music hub is still not supported in my region, but even with market unlocker it doesn't work. i've downloaded marketaccess, but its in zip form and don't know how to install, even when unziped.
game hub and readers hub work fine. video hub also not working.
any ideas, anyone?
can one change the csc code to fool the phone into thinking its in a different region?
Thanks.
Thats a pretty specific question.. I am far away from being a dev but an answer is better than no answer at all ^^ By google i found market unlocker pro which is supposed to be working!
Thanks, but not even the pro version works.
Hi there,
I like listening to pocasts while jogging. Normally I manage my podcasts on my smartphone. Since I don't like to have such a big device with me while jogging I use my old Sansa Clip Mp3-player. Unfortunately I can't manage my podcasts on the device directly and therefore I have to download each mp3 and put them manually on my player.
Because I really didn't like to do this anymore I searched for small MP3-Player with Wlan which lets my download the episodes on the device directly. Since the Ipod Nano has no Wifi at all and all those new Smartwatches do not work without a smartphone I decided to get a small Android phone to use this as an mp3 and podcast player.
Today my X10 Mini cam in and now I have 3 problems:
-Each time I start the device, it asks for a SIM card and on the Notification bar shows that I have no signal and no SIM card. The phone is only my MP3 player, therefore I do not need a SIM card. Can I turn all these notifications off?
-When I start the market ppp and look for podcasts I do not find any podcast app. Additionally It is called Marked and not Play Store. When I surf the Google Play store on my PC my X10 mini is not listed on my list of devices even though I use my Google account on my X10 Mini. Why is that? Would using a Custom ROM solve this Problem?
-Which custom Rom would you suggest?
Hi,
I know that google discontinued their tvs but there must be a way around to get all the apps working?
Tv basically wont access internet for some reason. Every app is useless. Good thing is we use roku so dont depend on the apps but I'd like to start using youtube, send videos directly to tv to load and watch. Is this possible now a days?
Nvm roku has youtoob app.
