my 10.1 seems to have decided it doens't like to sleep. I am running Task 650s ROM but it doesnt seem to be impacting anyone else. Does anyone have any ideas why the table wont sleep?!
I know I have provided a LOT of background here... but all I currently have is that the wifi stays on and therefore the tablet stays awake (note the screen turns off though). The battery usage shows minimal screen on events but continual wifi/awake time. I checked my running services and didnt see anything out of the ordinary.
Any help would be greatly appreciated -- this daily recharge bs is kind of annoying.
BetterBatteryStats might point to the culprit.

Thanks for the link -- however the app doesn't explicitly point to any one thing causing 'wakelocks'. The only item showing continual use is the WIFI connection. I am turning wifi off for now to see if it allows the tablet to sleep.
Do you have any apps possibly running in the background that could be keeping it awake?
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
No apps running that should impact it -- I just rebooted from CWM and it seems like its staying asleep when the screen is off (although wifi is registering as consistently on even when the screen is off -- is that normal?)

Yes, its normal for wifi to stay on even if the screen is off. Unless you have an App like Juice Defender that turns it off.
Hmm, Well it seems like the CWM reboot did the trick -- the tablet is retaining charge and sleeping again. I wonder why that worked when a normal reboot didnt... odd
Thanks for all your help!

Glad you got it all worked out.
Wifi during sleep is a settings issue. Go to Settings -> Wireless -> WiFi Settings -> Sleep Policy.
Anybody have an issue with random wake ups? I have noticed if my phone is just sitting itself it turns on itself as if I were getting a text or a call and ends up being nothing, I know my proximity sensor works well during calls, but can not figure out why the screen wakes. Anyone know a fix or a setting for this?

This just started happening to me today. Not sure what's going on. Nothing is different, stock rooted rom. No new apps. Same case.
Check for wake lock and clear the cache on any apps that look like they are causing wakelock and reboot phone
Did all that, I'm waiting to see if it does it again.
Okay found a new one this morning. Looks like something to do with Google maps
Edit: definitely not Google maps. AudioOut_3 is the culprit. I looked on Google and it happens a lot on a variety of different phones. There are a lot of different ideas on what it is too. Some say it's ringtone related, some say it's music player related. Anyone have any ideas?
This is after clearing maps
After listening to music force close the app you are using, after playing games or anything else that uses media services, sometimes even after task manager ends the app for more resources the services stay on. I think its so the the os feels more responsive. It's like HTC camera, launch it from a clean reboot and it will take a lot longer for the first startup then it will for subsequent start ups.
That's good advice, but this screen shot was taken before opening anything, fresh reboot, about 30 minutes on but screen off.
Well I can't think of anything else that uses audioout_3
It must be starting up after boot-up. My main player is playerpro.
I think I discovered my issue, the past week I've been flashing different roms and I have started using the superwipe zip. I had issues with each rom I flashed. Last night I reflashed the stock rom, only wiping and not using superwipe and it seems to have fixed whatever issues I was having. I'm not saying it's the superwipe, but I may have a bad download of it, or it doesn't like my phone. I'll be keeping an eye on it for awhile and report back.
Ok scratch that. It must be an app doing it. I think it might be a game called 'plague inc.' it doesn't seem to affect battery life, but it is annoying.

I had similar issue,
in my case, mp3 downloader's ad Notification was waking up my screen,
I found it out by using app "Wakelock detector" WLD at GooglePlay
you need to check for "full wakelocks", check the screenshot
SD Card Corruption
I have had the same issue on my EVO 4G LTE and just got a replacement device... still having the same problem. MY SOLUTION: Removed my SD card which recently was corrupted. This fixed my issue. Apparently the phone would register an SD card inserted every 20 seconds or so because it couldn't fully read it, waking it from sleep mode. Hope this helps!

hi guys
i am having some weird problems with my s3, sometimes when i set my screen time out to 30 seconds. sometimes my s3 screen will not turn off, sometimes this happens while charging, sometimes after getting my battery pack full charge my screen will not also turn off, and the most recent event taht just happened is someone just gave me an phone call and i was not able to answer that call; after that event the screen of my s3 did not turn off. i think it was turned on for about an hour.
is the screen timeout features has bugs? if i set it to 30 seconds this weird event happens; to fix this trouble i need to press the power button manually. if i set it to 15 seconds i think it works ok but the time span is too short for me and right now i am trying to observe the 1 minute screen time out. but for me the 1 minute option is too long.
has anyone of you guys also felt that setting the screen timeout feature to 30 seconds is buggy? and what were your solutions to this problem?
thanks guys
I am experiencing a similar problem however I cant pin it down to a certain circumstance or some up with a solution. The problem seems to have started for me after the Jelly Bean update.
Do you have developer options under settings enabled? If so, do you have "stay awake" ticked or un-ticked?
Also there are couple of widgets causing a problem with screen timeout, like "Extended Controls". If you have that installed, uninstall and check again.

I have checked the setting and the "stay awake" is unchecked. Yesterday it was staying on all of the time, but today it only seems to do it when it is on the charger. To weird... I only have a few widgets I am using, Calendar, weather bug, flip book and Google play Music. are any of these causing a known problem?

Do you have Smart Stay enabled under Settings > Display
I know that if my phone is in certain places in the room when I have been using it and just put it dowb the screen stays on as Smart Stay is detecting that I am still looking at it even though I am not just try turning Smart Stay off for a day and see if it stops doing it.

These are not the "usual suspects" but what I can suggest is removing all of them and adding one by one while checking the time out. Its not the best way but its the only way to identify since its not a common problem :/

I will give this a shot and see what happens. I had used these widgets on my old phone without a problem, but it is worth a try.

I initially thought is had something to do with smart stay as well as I did have it enabled, however turning it off did not solve the problem.
Anyone have a solution? I am experiencing the same issue where the screen does not time out... It will work when i do a reset.
I have tried to disable all widgets and thought that worked, but later determined it was still happening. it really seems sporadic. The problem persists consistently for a period of time, but then will work fine for a while, then go back to not working. My battery is dead now because I missed a call, the screen turned on, and never turned off. I am just discovering this 3 hours later... There has to be a solution. I may have to do a master reset, but I just did one due to reception issues and don't want to go through it again. Who knows if it will even solve the problem.
I've noticed this issue since first getting my S3 in July. So I do know it happened with 4.0.4 and now with 4.1.1. I've never used the "Stay Awake" option in the dev options and it still remains off. I've had the issue with both "Smart Stay" on and off. I've tested it with all screen time out times, as well as going through the trouble of factory resetting the device and nothing changed. The only solution I've found is reboot the phone and it will work again for a day or so until I notice it again. Very annoying and would love to find a solution to this!
I am having the same problem with my AT&T galaxy s III only a hard reset (pull battery) will fix it but it comes back at random times. Any updates on this?
Same problem here, it's strange because it just happens randomly.
Some days I will look at my phone and it appears to have a miraculous 50% battery drop. I too keep screen timeout set to 30 seconds...any insight here would be awesomely appreciated.

You need to check for wakelocks,
Wakelocks can be used by other apps to wake your screen, and keep it on.
I discovered it by using Wakelock app :
Wakelock detector at GooglePlay
I've noticed my phone sometimes freezes when I wake up from sleep, notably deep sleep. The screen turns on fine, but the touchscreen doesn't work at all. I can use the volUp/volDown keys and they make the volume popup trigger, but I have to wait at least a minute before the touchscreen starts working again. It doesn't happen that often, but it's very annoying when it does. Any ideas?
I'm running stock, rooted. I haven't installed any weird apps, just a few popular games, Facebook with notifications turned off, etc., the usual things. I barely have LTE coverage in my area, just around 1-3 bars or the phone switches to HSPA+ every now and then, so I don't know if that's related. Any recommendations, observations, or comments would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I've noticed this a few times your not alone lol. If it's a firmware problem it should be fixed soon via OTA update

I really like the feel of aosp on my s3, it feels smoother and alot more responsive. However I'm having a problem with each version I'm trying.
10.1.3
The voice typing keeps turning itself on, I'll keep turning it off and voila 10-15 mins later it turns itself back on. Usually after the display turns off. I have no idea how to permenatly keep it off.
10.2
The elusive RILJ problem. When his occurred I did read up on it, its not the location settings as they're all turned off and maps isn't the culprit cause I don't even have it installed. Whenever I check BBS it says RILJ (phone) and it literally drains my battery at the rate of 1% every 2 minutes with the 15 minute bus journey to work resulting in over 300 wakeups.
As I said I would love to use cyanogenmod full time but can't without these problems being solved. Ideas anyone?
I should mention that this on both the stable versions
Can you freeze voice typing in titanium backup or with another app from the play store. Can't check at the moment but im sure I have frozen it for this reason
