I have a problem with my x10i.
I was trying to use the flash tool for 2.1 from binary's thread but I failed and it was still 1.6. It got to the point where it said [finish] and then error message in the cmd. After that I tried using SEUS to update it again, the 2.1 update was available so I tried installing it.
Here is the current situation.
After installing 2.1 from SEUS, I followed the instruction to turn the phone off/take out the usb. After turning it back on, it's been half a hour and I'm still stuck at the blank screen before the SE logo shows up. I tried taking out the battery to boot into Flash Mode but that didn't work either. I was wondering if it was because the battery is near empty, but that's not the case since I was using the wallcharger for another hour on it earlier whlie it's in the blank screen state.
Can anyone point me in a direction for fixing it?
Forgot to mention, holding the power button doesn't turn it off either. I would have to remove the battery to turn it off.
Try a re-flash... use the repair function on PC Suite
the usb cable isnt turning on the phone by connecting to it while its off. i can't boot in flash mode either .
had somewhat a prob yesterday like it, my phone did turn on again. i got an other pc installed companion suite there and repaired the firmware(said it was up to date) and then after the boot i'am @ 2.1
was the other pc a 32bit? because the first time i tried using seus was on a 32bit then i bought 64 bit computer.
I'll try running it on a 32bit computer today.
Okay, so I borrowed a PC and installed PC Companion and tried to connect the phone to the computer. However the computer didn't recognize my phone at all. Perhaps this is a problem with window 7?
I also noticed that when i take the battery out and put the usb in then the battery back in, the green LED light stays on. It stays on until the phone trys to boot itself on then the LED turns off but the screen turns on. Only thing is that the screen is still blank and never went to any of the logo screens. And while the USB is plugged in, I can't turn it on by holding power. However if the usb is not plugged in, and I take the battery out and put it back in, I can hold power and it'll blink really fast for the green LED and then the phone viberates for a quick second (like it usually does when you turn your x10 on) and then blank screen and nothing else. The reason i can tell it's on w/ a blank screen and not a screen issue is because I put the phone under the table (very little light) and I can see the screen dimly lit by the back light. These are the only 2 indication I have that the hardware is working.
My biggest guess right now is that the firmware was F'D during the flash or the loader is now a goner since I can't boot into safemode or flashmode. My other conclusion so far is that while the phone is on (confirming it being on via the backlit blank screen) the usb connection goes off. Perhaps its stuck in a loop? Can anyone tell me how I can fix this?
I did searches as well.
I came across people who said their phone was stuck so they let it drain out the battery on it's own and it unstucks. Some say they waited 4-5 minutes and it worked.
So far the longest I waited was:
3 Hours(And counting) *usb & battery is plugged in but charging green LED light is not on*
or tried to leave it alone for 8 hours without battery or usb plugged in.
I'm hoping someone has come across the same problem and had a fix or one of the DEVS might've experianced this problem while trying to test their loaders/etc?
Nothing to do with Windows 7, I and others have no issues on Windows 7 x64. Run the attached file and delete anything to do with SE and try reconnecting in flash mode whilst running SEUS. Post a screen shot of the program if you're unsure what to delete.
Okay right now I am on the 2nd computer with the 32bit OS that I tried to connect to earlier. However i was unable to find a DEVID that was registered on Nov 1. which should be the case since I have never connected my phone with this computer ever before.
I was unsuccessful at booting into flash mode as well. I would put the battery in. then hold the back button and plug the usb. However the phone would not auto boot like it does normally when you plug in the usb so I held on till it did because I thought it might be lagging, however it still didnt boot into flash mode.
I have a baddddd feeling now
Did you read my post?
this is the screen shot of the program you told me to run. It was ran on the computer that I borrowed today, it was never connected with my phone before.
Thanks for helping me ^___^

No worries, but you'll have to post a better screenshot than that, can hardly see it.
Sorry about that, this is my first time uploading a image on xda.
I re-uploaded via imageshack

Yeah as you've not connected it before there is nothing there to remove, and seems like you've already tried everything. Not sure what to suggest, are you on a contract with insurance?
Nope, I got my phone in USA before it came out in NA. I had it imported via a dealer.
My phone is a Telus t959D
I am stuck at the phone--!--PC screen. 3 button combo does not work, please do not give me other 3 button combos because it will not work. I think i need to fix this battery problem first and the download mode will come itself.
Plugging it in to the usb gives me a screen with an empty grey battery, with the progress circle in the middle frozen.
I cannot go into download mode because when i connect the usb, the grey battery pops up.
If i turn the phone on with no usb, i get the phone--!--pc screen.

so even with the battery pulled you still get the battery icon?

Uninstall your current installation of Kies and any samsung drivers, restart your computer, reinstall Keis from http://www.samsung.com/ca/consumer/...TLS/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=support and download the drivers via that, restart again and check the results.
hey sendan thanks a lot. Before i do what you said i should do, how will the computer recognize my phone if it is only on the phone!PC screen because kies cant even recognize it right now?

No, without the battery the screen is just blank because it is off if that is what you meant. If you meant if i pull it out and put it back in, then it goes to the Phone!PC screen without a USB connected. If i reinstall the batter again WITH a usb, then it freezes at a grey battery.

you suppose to get into download mode without the battery in.
power off and pull battery
plug usb cable in
hold vol down until the yellow triangle appears
I took out the battery, plugged in the usb, and held the volume down button. Screen stays black (left the battery out)

ok.. Are you using the factory usb cable? If so, then unfortunately you may need to do one of the two things:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1288093
or get a "Jig" and jumper the usb pins.
alright i'll try those out. And i recorded myself doing the methods and the screens i get.

Okay I watched your video...instead just take the battery out and DON'T put it back in, your computer will supply the power. Now make sure your holding the volume down button BEFORE you plug it in, and continue holding.
Or plug it in the wall adapter if you don't have powered USB Ports.

It's just going to make me feel bad because anybody else in the future who has the same combination of problems might not be able to find a solution , but thanks a lot everybody! i'll just try and find a captivate or something

Actually I did a bit of reading, since I got stuck at that screen a long time ago, and I remember connecting to Odin at the Phone ! PC screen. You should be able to connect to Odin because it's still considered download mode. If it doesn't work you should re-install the drivers that I posted before.
I can almost guarantee it will work unless something else is really broken.
Edit: Here's some reassurance to motivate you - http://forums.androidcentral.com/t-...s-hacks/79287-odin-works-phone-pc-screen.html
there's a feature in heimdall to try and kick it out of that screen.

Last night I bought a brand new Streak 5 from a local guy. Box was sealed, no mention of refurb, inner contents were sealed.
I didn't have time to test it and the guy I bought it from said he had gotten it a while back from a work raffle and that it had been sitting in a drawer in his house - I have no reason not to trust that he was lying to me.
When I actually got time to unbox it, I popped the battery in and tried to turn it on. The menu buttons lit up briefly and then when out. The screen never came on. Since then, it has been completely unresponsive.
I've tried to charge it with the wall charger, as well as my PC. Neither seem to be doing anything and my PC doesn't recognize it - even with Dell's software installed.
I've tried to take out the battery and hook it up to the wall charger and my PC to get it to turn on.
I've removed the Micro SD.
There is no SIM card in it currently.
I ordered another battery and an external battery charger. They should be here in a few days. I have the current battery rigged up and charging with a spliced USB cord.
What else can I do? I feel like I've done everything "simple" thus far and I'm a little nervous when it comes to utilities like Streakflash.
I'm coming over from the iPhone world and my Android use has been limited at best. Any help is appreciated.
What happens on the device itself after having had a chance to charge?
Does it light up when you press the power button, or nothing at all?
Thanks for the response.
There is no indication that it's charging. The screen doesn't come on, or even flash. The buttons do not light up. However, I don't believe it's the cable or the connector since my PC responds with an unrecognized device -- "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM" prompt. I also managed to get my PC to tell me that the device "wasn't plugged in."
I've tried to get some response out of it in every possible combination regarding the buttons, battery, back cover, microSD, and where it's plugged in. It just sits there. No lit screen, no lit menu buttons, nothing.
If it helps, I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. I've installed every possible thing I could find regarding the Dell drivers and my OS.
It sounds like your device somehow got shipped without having all the software installed onto it.
Can you provide more information about the device itself, such as it's manufacture date or any other info on the box/device labels? Devices getting shipped half baked like that isnt exactly common.
This sounds like a legitamate time to use QDL tool to reflash it, but I cant provide any help with that as I've never used it.
Can you use QDLTool if your computer doesn't even recognize it?
The date on the label is 10/12/2010.
If it's displaying as "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM" that's a sign that it should be able to get into upload mode as that's what the driver qdl tool uses I believe.
It's likely out of warrentee already, so you prob have to fix it on your own if at all.
I can't get it to respond to anything I do. It's very disheartening. I really, really wanted this phone, too.
I'm downloading the latest version of Ubuntu. I'm going to see if I can make any headway through Linux.
I can't get QDLTool to pick-up the device, either. I get an error message when I try to use it and scanning for it does nothing.
Did you install the driver bundled with it properly?
If it still doesnt detect it after that it's likely a dud
use qdltool, you can download it from here
http://www.box.com/s/rj9xd5tl7v5amimbm3youll need to make sure you have all drivers installed though, info is on this forum somewhere,
once installed run the software on pc you should see a big box with "run" on it, click run then connect phone by holding volume up and connecting usb then qdltool will do rest from there
when i got my both my dell streak it was the same deal. first one came exactly as how you described it. I put in the battery, made SURE THAT THE CONNECTORS ARE lined up on the back case, and then tried to power it on. NOTHING.
It seems even if the battery was fully charged, the only real way to turn it on was to connect the streak to the power adapter and then press hold down the on button. WHen the device finally gave me the dell logo, it would just sit there stuck. So i took out the battery, and redid it. Then went into fastboot mode (hold camera and power) and it wouldnt detect the touch screen. It seems that the touch scree was faulty and hence it would remain stuck on the dell logo. I tried to calibrate the touch screen a few times, all failed. Then finally for one time it worked, and the touch screen came back to life. Shortly after though upon booting into the old stage 1.6, it restarted and the touch screen failed again.
So i sent it back to rogers and they gave me a replacement phone. Same deal, when you first put in the battery and the case it wouldnt start no matter what. Only upon plugging it into the power adapter then it starts up. However this new one had a functional touch screen.
1) check out the touch screen by using the fastboot, or stock recovery. If you get error messages, it means your screen is toast most likely and then you might have to open her up and see if all the connections are lined up
2) if it doesnt boot at all, try connecting it to the power adapter first and then after about 30 seconds power it on. You should be able to see the dell logo unless as the guys stated before the software is hosed.
3) if the software is totally hosed, tried to get it into fastboot mode or recovery and see if you can reflash the device.
something like that...
Thanks for the comments, guys.
As of now, it's still in the same position it was in. It doesn't respond to any combinations of buttons, battery in/or, or plugged into the wall/pc.
I'm assuming that the situation it's in currently is what's preventing any sort of legitimate connection between the phone and my PC.
My last shot is a battery and external charger that should be here next week.
Hi,
I recently helped a friend to change a broken digitizer glass screen on a Nokia Lumia 920 with RM-821. I ordered the new digitizer on ebay from china/hongkong so can't say anything about its functionality or possible compatibility issues.
When I started to change the digitizer the battery was very low. When I thought everything was done properly and the phone was put together again, and tried to start it, and nothing happened. I think I also tried a vol down+power button soft reset, and i remember i got some feedback from the vibrator but nothing from the screen. Well, I took it apart again and quickly discovered that the screen cable wasn't properly attached, so I attached it. (afterwards I saw somewhere that a low-battery soft-reset was a sure way to brick the phone...)
Next step, I've put the phone together and try to start it, nothing happens. Connect to charger, after some seconds a vibration, followed by the Nokia logo and then a screen with a flash and a cog-wheel (nothing animated). This is the state it is permanently stuck in. The only way to "start it" is to connect the charger and wait. If the charger is disconnected at the Nokia logo then it goes to the "no-battery"-icon and the powers off. At the flash-cogwheel it is possible to restart the phone by holding vol-down+power.
I let the charger be in for multiple hours, still the same thing. Took out the battery and charged it manually with external charger and some home-made wiring. That charger directly indicated that the battery was full with its indicator LED, but i still let it be for around an hour. Conclusion: battery is charged and most likely were charged in the phone.
I've tried to connect it through Nokia Software Updater for Retail 4.2.1, and the "my phone doesn't boot"-option doesn't find the phone after holding vol-down+power. (as described here http://www.wpcentral.com/suffering-spinning-cogs-issue-nokia-windows-phone-fix and other places)
No connection with Nokia Care Suite 5.4.119 either, using method as described here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47195500
SUMMARY
Since connecting the charger starts the phone, some part of the usb must work. The screen apparently work, don't know about the digitizer obviously. Since it is possible to restart from "flash+cog-wheel"-screen the side buttons aren't dead. Since removing the charger at the "flash-cog-wheel" screen doesn't power off the phone the battery does in fact work.
Naturally I can't rule out that I managed to break something on the mainboard when I changed the digitizer, even though I don't think so.
Hope somebody can help!
Ok, so I recently tried to install CM on my Z2 Tablet.
When I tried to restart the device I get nothing but a flashing red light.
If I hold the power button down I sometimes get a short vibrate and if I hard reboot it it gives me 3 short buzzes as usual but still nothing.
If I leave the usb cable plugged in I get the connect/disconnect noise for a usb device which makes me think it's stuck on a boot loop but theres nothing on screen, it's just dead.
Screen is black and all I get when a usb is plugged in is the flashing red light and an occasional blue one if I mess with the buttons.
Tried using PC Companion to repair the device but it says the software isnt available for my device.
Tried flashing 2 separate FTF files and they both fail saying something about needing the correct fsc script to flash.
I've kind of given up hope but is there anything else I can try before I flog it for spares or repairs ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Try opening the ports at the top and pushing on that red button/square for 30 seconds, the red light sounds like what mine does when the tablet runs out of battery, I fully charge it but it just vibrates and flashes red but wont come on
