I'm wondering since the US998 is now available and some people have received it, is there any way to extract a KDZ file for the current software version? The one I have is on Version 08e which is prerelease but would like to be brought current so I can use all the features such as Android Pay, etc. Many services think the phone is rooted or unofficial so it makes it sifficult to use as a daily driver. Any feedback or help would be awesome.
Tell me how to do it, and I'll do it this weekend. I have an extra V30 US998 I'm not using as a daily phone. I'll factory reset it and make the files if it's not too hard.
I've uploaded TWRP image files (stock, rooted, with TWRP installed and without) for Motorola phones. I've used KDZ for LG but never created any.
Last instructions I saw said they don't work any more or something, so that's why I'm asking. I don't want to invest a lot of effort to realize it's outdated information.

I've heard that you can pull it direct from the LG server by going to this website from any PC browser:
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Replace the X's with the IMEI of the device the there is a link that shows up in the xml file that displays in the middle of the page under sw_url. Copy and paste that into the browser and that should pull the kdz file direct. I've tried with my device but it doesnt find the model number with my IMEI. Maybe an official device IMEI will work.

Nothing yet available at that link. It returned some information about the V30 model, but no download links.
For my V30 plus, gave null results like it's not even in the database.
I'll see what I can do this weekend on my own.

Start LG Bridge, and do a recovery (dont know the exact name in english atm).
It will prepare your pc and the phone (no idea what it does on the phone at this point) and then it will start downloading.
In C:\Users\<username>\AppData (and some sub folders) theres a LG Bridge folder with a log file, which contains the download URL. You can then download that with whatever browser you want, but you have to change the Useragent (my addon changed it to google spider something and it worked).

Can't get it to work. I can only connect via LG AirDrive and it won't let me do a recovery in LG AirDrive. It actually says to DISCONNECT LG AirDrive, that LG AirDrive is "busy" -- and try again later. Via USB cable it will not connect. I've updated LG Drivers, tried both USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. Keeps telling me to connect via USB, but it won't let me connect via USB.

I did it like described in this link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-k10/how-to/guide-downloading-kdz-lg-bridge-t3504497
Instead of letting it finish the download though, i looked up in a log file (i think one or 2 folders up from the directory the downloaded .kdz is) and downloaded it manually (chrome with changed user agent)

Yeah, I've got a user agent change extension installed. I just need to find the download link. I don't think it downloaded anything. It looked for my backup files and restored from there, it seems...
I'll try again. I posted screenshots above. Are the logs the ones I highlighted?

No image file ever appears. LG Bridge does NOT download anything. But it does "restore" my phone using my backup files on the PC.
When I go to Software Update and click on Update Error Recovery, it basically tells me there's no errors to recover or that can be recovered.
Here's my log file from this folder seen below. I swapped out my PC user name for generic "user name" for the purposes of posting this publicly. In the REAL log, it shows my user name.

I guess LG hasn't actually posted KDZ files for the carrier unlocked US998 yet on their servers, for LG Bridge to download? Your H930 was released a full month before the open market US998.
QUESTION: is there any way to "extract" KDZ from files locally on a phone? Not using LG severs whatsoever? With Windows, not Linux.
I haven't found a recent way to do it in my searches that doesnt involve some special hardware like Android UFST or something like that.
Guess we have to continue to play the waiting game, and I think the next software we get will probably just be Oreo anyways when it launches. I've had the US998 since early August so it feels like it's been out way longer than it actually has to me. Again I appreciate all the efforts you guys put into finding a solution.
No kdz

Glad it worked for you! I'm still trying to get it to work for me.
What you downloaded was of course a KDZ file LG has on their servers. For some reason it seems the open market LG US998 does not have that yet. Or I'm just doing something wrong, which is always a possibility.
EDIT: just tried again and still get the same message there are no errors that can be recovered -- and again, nothing was downloaded to that Degrade folder. I think that's their strange way of saying there's no KDZ yet available?

Well I thought it worked when I saw I managed to download a 3.05gb kdz but when trying to open it it kept saying it was a unsupported command. Tried 3 times with different download managers. I think the download needs to be authenticated with a username and password through LG developers. But from that failing to work I noticed everytime I update through LG bridge it downloads the kdz to
c:\user\appdata\LGElectronics\LGBridge\SWupgrade\image, after that finished flashing my phone then it self destructs afterwards.
Edit: the kdz works to restore through LG up.
Success.

Steps 1 : (Must be done even if you have previously extracted TOT files. This will extract the files with an mbn extension as well as, more importantly it will create a partition.txt which is crucial for this fix to work)
1. Open b2b.exe
2. At the bottom of the application "Image Extraction" Select the path to the TOT file for your Phone model.
3. Select the Dir to any Dir where you would like to extract the files to. (DIR : Selects a folder to save the images extracted from the Tot file.)
4. Click on Extract and wait, this Starts extraction.
5. On completion, “Complete” pop-up appears.
Extracted files :
Step 2: Get ready to flash.
1. On The Top of the tool , select chipset as G2 (MSM8974)
2. Select port and set it to the com port where your phone shows up as QDLoader 9008 mode in Device manager, in my case com 10.
3. Set Target Dir to the same path where you just extracted the TOT files from STEP 1 part 3 above.
Step 3: Test AP & EMMC
1. On the Top left of the Tool , select the AP check box and the EMMC check box.
2. Click on Start. This will test your AP and EMMC to ensure your phone can be fixed and there are no other HW issues.

First of all I want to thank @george7565 for such wonderful discovery. I'm sure that many people who bricked their phone with this guide: [FIX] NO Recovery mode, No download mode, after OTA on rooted LG G2 will fix their phones just like I did.
I found short circuiting a little bit tricky, but in the end I found the way to make it.
To short circuit the capacitors I used small piece of cooper wire cut from Ethernet UTP cable.
It's important that when short circuiting is that wire ends should touch opposite sides of the capacitors.
Also the short circuited capacitors must be next to each other horizontally. See the picture below:
As you can see, depending on what is short circuited you get QDLOADER 9008 or QHSUSB mode.
So now LG G2 is INDEED UNBRICKABLE. For those who got QDLOADER 9008 mode, see the picture, fix your phones, don't waste the money on board replacements.
After I got QHSUSB mode I had further problems. Lubuntu didn't recognized my phone's mass memory partitions, it recognized it as some 2.1TB Qualcomm disk. I found the workaround, I backedup the entire nand of my working LG G2 using this method: [GUIDE] How to make a nandroid backup directly to your computer without using sdcard, then using Computer managment -> Storage in Windows 8, I deleted all phones partitions and flashed the the backup image using Win32 Disk Imager. It's important for this one that both phones are same variant and memory capacity. After that, I restored IMEI using this tool: [TOOL] Updated! 26/06/14 - EFS Professional v2.1.73 - Also for NON-Samsung devices! Also I have a problems with GPS fix, perhaps back cover position needs some tuning, I hope this guide can help, I didn't try:

Here is some extra Information I got while digging around.
This app operates only in Qdload mode. Upon initial USB cable connection, do the following to send it to Qdload mode if no port or USB serial port is held.
Upon initial USB cable connection, don’t do the following if it’s already in Qdload mode.
Use either way below(#1 recommended) to connect the USB cable while the pin is grounded.
Check out the Device Manager for ports(COM or LPT). If Qualcomm HS-USB Qdloader 9008 port is activated, Qdload mode is successfully
ready to work!!
As for the USB cable, the SW download cable v2.1 (910K) for service is recommended!!
1. How to ground Boot Config switch
It may depend on models. Basically, the pin of the switch connected to Boot_config_0 or Boot_config_6 is grounded.
The circuit diagram above shows Q6000 switch’s #3 pin need be grounded.
2. How to ground EMMC SDC1_CLK resistance
It may depend on models. Basically, eMMC’s SDC1_CLK resistance is grounded.
The circuit diagram above shows R24010 need be grounded.
Hmm,my phone is shown in the device manager as LGE Android Phone,CDC Serial and CDC ECM
what should i do?

Can you now with b2b still opened , disconnect the phone and make sure its fully off and reconnect the phone and try (Make sure the b2b app is on all the time ).
If it still says the same then you follow the below.
1. Ensure the phone is disconnected from the PC.
2. Press and hold the power button on the phone for 15 seconds (to 100% ensure the phone is powered off).
3. Start the b2b app on the PC as administrator mode
4. Now connect the phone to PC via USB cable.
Even after that if it doesn't work, you need to try with Battery connector Disconnected.
1. Ensure the phone is disconnected from the PC.
2. Open Back cover of the phone and UNPLUG the battery connecter only
3. Start the b2b app on the PC as administrator mode

That may not be supported, but try experimenting and see if one of the other options work. The G2 mini used Qualcomm MSM8226 Snapdragon 400, you could try choosing W7 G2MDS (MSM8226) . Again I don't know if this works. You could try and let us know if it did.

I didn't say you downloaded anything. You have not shown it's from "download" and not from factory installed service. com.lge strongly suggests LG factory installed. Until you can prove otherwise, I say it's probably from LG Remote Call service, which my Google search points to.
Just because you disabled LG Remote Call (tech help service) doesn't mean it didn't make a log first. You haven't given us the date of the log nor told us when you disabled that service.
So, don't be too quick to say Google searches don't apply to the LG V30. LG has included that service in their phones since 2011.
___________
A second possibility is the LG Air Drive -- which is at com.lge.remote.setting Did you disable that also?

See my edited reply. Could also be the LG Air Drive log, which is at com.lge.remote. Since it shares most of the same location string, that's actually more probably than the LG Remote Call service?
Did you disable that also? If so, again it could have created a log before you disabled it. Do you know the date of the log vs when you disabled it (if you disabled it)?

However, that really makes no sense in this instance. Yes, a developer could shed light on this. My gut feeling is it's nothing malicious. As you say, your phone is not rooted, and this seems to be some factory installed service.

You haven't shown this is in any way malicious that I can see. You just don't know what it is. Maybe it's something very useful? It's something LG put on your phone (the IP it calls to is LG) and if you go disabling everything you don't understand on your phone, you will have a brick.
You never really answered my question, that did you disable the LG Air Drive? That service shares most of the exact same location string of com.lge.remote. If you did answer that, I didn't see it.

Hi,
I managed to get the Android 11 update with a bit of stuffing around and thought I would share for everyone else, I did this on a unlocked Australian variant bought from Optus, you're mileage may vary.
This will activate dual sim mode on the phone with a single IMEI, I left my location set to Europe so it is upto you if you follow the last step to remove Dual Sim Mode.
You will need to backup anything you don't wish to lose as a full factory reset is required.
Requirements:
OPPO A72 - My bootloader is locked, My simlock is off
CPH2067_11_A.54 Latest European ROM for the device - Download Here: https://support.oppo.com/nl/software-update/software-download/?m=A72
Oppo Free Unlock Tool - https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...de-to-coloros-11-and-enable-dual-sim.4191787/
A Google account to download ExpressVPN (This is the second last step so leave for now)
A Windows PC with a internet connection
WIFI or Mobile data on phone.
Latest ADB Drivers - https://adb.clockworkmod.com/
Instructions:
1) Backup all settings and user data.
2) Remove all accounts and screen lock security settings on phone.
3) Format all data, factory reset phone.
4) Download Oppo Free Unlock Tool from the link provided to PC.
5) Follow these instructions to install Microsoft Loopback Adaptor -
6) Open Device Manager and expand the Network Adapters category.
7) Find your Loopback Adaptor and double click it to open its properties.
8) Go to the Advanced tab and find the Network Address option in the Property pane.
9) Under the Value pane, select the radio button next to the text box and paste in the following: 704D7B61ABCD.
10) Install ADB Drivers.
11) Extract OPPO Free Unlock Tool, You're antivirus may give a false positive so you will have to manually add an exception for the tool.
12) Go to where you extracted the unlock tools. Open Sec5.exe.
13) Plug in phone via USB and select "Transfer Files".
14) Enable developer options on phone and activate USB Debugging.
15) Press Allow when prompted to give PC ADB access.
16) Open Sec5 window.
17) After about a second, a string of numbers and letters should show up in the left pane, Press Start Unlocking and few seconds later, "OK" should start flashing in the right pane.
18) Press stop unlocking and disconnect phone.
19) Open the phone app on your device and dial *#3954391#. Then dial *#391#. A screen should come up with a whole bunch of regions listed. (Take note of the one highlighted in green as you will need this in the final step).
20) Choose this one: "Europe EUEX" and click Ok you're phone will restart.
21) Download the rom from provided link to the phone and install through recovery mode.
22) Add your google account and download ExpressVPN from Play Store.
23) Open ExpressVPN and start 7 day trial then set to Netherlands server.
24) Goto Settings then Software Update and you will see Android 11 available to download.
25) Click Download then when complete Click Install
26) Remove Google Account from phone and factory data reset again.
27) Use instructions 12-20 to set your phones location back to your original setting.
That's All Folks
Hi! I'm from Germany.
I use Orbot and set the language to Dutch (Netherland). Then I went to Settings » Software Update. The new Android version 11 is now available. The version displayed is: CPH2067NV44_11_C.71
I have to consider installing this version as I don't know if it will lead to complications. Can I simply set the language to German in the settings? I don't have Windows at the moment and can only use Android tools. It is explicitly NV (Netherland Version) in the firmware version.
Whether that is EU or EUEX... no plan.
So far I haven't loaded the update either because I'm afraid that I will never get the "thing" to root.
Without root it's only half a smartphone, although I'm pretty happy with the A72.
Friendly greetings to everyone!

I think it may apply to Canadian models too as I seem to not have an OEM bootloader unlock option in developer options.

Do you know of any paid services? I wouldn't mind paying for a bootloader unlock

Yes, but S22 plus is a new device and maybe you need to ask him is it unlockable yet

So on every update we need to do a full flash? Wow
And the userdata is keep?
Is there a way to backup all before update?
yes full flash with home csc to keep your data
if you want to backup your apps and data with root use migrate app from playstore

On the root flash there were 2 "erasing everything" screens, one after a message that something is corrupt. Will this happen again?
Can you provide a simple step by step list what to do with new updated firmware?

I live in Canada and I have a BC72 (Asian version). I am struggling to get VoLTE and VoWiFi working. I know that mbn file is the key to getting IMS support and sony seems to block some carrier mbn files (only mbn in sales areas are available). So recently I have been working on flashing mbn files to my phone.
UPDATE:
Everything works fine now. Here's the guide:
FIRST THING FIRST: Data is priceless. Always backup before you modify your phone software.
Disclaimer: Not every carrier in the world support VoLTE or VoWiFi. Please ask your carrier first to get more info if you don't know if they provide support to VoLTE or VoWiFi.
Things you need:
1. PC with windows or bootcamp (virtual machines won't work)
2. An Xperia 1 III with magisk installed (see guide here)
3. A reliable USB-C cable
Software you need:
1. EfsTools (from github)
2. Platform tools (from Google)
3. Qualcomm USB diagnostic port driver
4. QPST (from qpsttool.com)
3. mbn files (extract from your phone)
1. Open command line in the platform tools folder, type
Code:
./adb.exe shell
and press enter, you should see a linux shell on your command line starting with $. Then Type
Code:
su
and a super user window should pop up on your phone screen, after you allowing the permission, the $ should change into #, then type
Code:
setprop persist.usb.eng 1
. If your phone asks "Allow access?", press deny; if it doesn't, go to notification centre, find USB options, and select "No data transfer".
2. Go to your device manage on windows, there should be three "Xperia 1 III"s listed. Choose one, right click, and select "Update driver". In the pop up window, select "Browse my computer" and then "Select one from the available drivers". Find Qualcomm USB diagnostic 9091 and select next. Do the same thing for the rest two. For more details, please check this post and there's a Youtube video demonstration.
3. Open QPST Configurator, check the list and find which COM port corresponds to "LAHAINA". Go to the device manager and disable the rest, ONLY KEEP THE PORT FOR LAHAINA. Quit any QPST tools after this.
4. Open command line in the EfsTools folder, type
Code:
./EfsTools.exe efsInfo
and press enter. No error should occur if you configured correctly, and the COM port in step 3 should be shown.
5. Type
Code:
./EfsTools.exe writeFile -i mcfg_autoselect_by_uim -o /nv/item_files/mcfg/mcfg_autoselect_by_uim
and press enter. There is no expected output so that if there's no error message, you are good.
6. Select the mbn file from the mbn folder. Find the mbn file for your carrier. If you're using a secondary operator, please use the mbn file for the main operator (e.g. Koodo -> use Telus mbn). Copy the mcfg_sw.mbn to the root of the EfsTools folder, then type
Code:
./EfsTools.exe uploadDirectory -i mcfg_sw.mbn -o / -v
and press enter.
7. After the command line done it's magic, reboot your phone. Type
Code:
*#*#4636#*#*
in the phone original dialler. Select Phone Information, press the dots at the upper-right corner and select IMS Status, you can check if the IMS status is registered.
Now, you can enjoy VoLTE, VoWiFi, and even 5G (depends on your carrier's support). If you don't see VoLTE or VoWiFi toggle in your phone settings, try install VoEnabler in magisk or run these in adb shell:
Code:
setprop persist.vendor.dbg.ims_volte_enable 1
setprop persist.vendor.dbg.volte_avail_ovr 1
setprop persist.vendor.dbg.vt_avail_ovr 1
setprop persist.vendor.dbg.wfc_avail_ovr 1
Sorry for the late posting. I've been finding mbn files for other carriers but it seems there's no specific carrier's mbn files available on Snapdragon 888 (or I haven't found one). I'll update if there's any progress.

Interested in the progress of this...if I can get WiFi Calling i would prefer that over LTE calling for when I go to my Sister's Ranch where there's no signal what so ever...
I'm very interested in this, I've been looking for a way to get TMO Wi-Fi calling working on this phone for a while now.
My phone just died today. I’m not sure if the mbn file caused that. I won’t post the guide until I figure it out :-(

Damn fam, hope it works out...i just cross flashed to the US rom from SEA cause I'm on Metro PCS but my modem got ****ed.....so no calling and network is constantly disconnecting
I have the SEA version in the US on T-Mobile. I flashed Ponce's Pixel Experienc GSI and Sony's binaries (no idea if this was necessary) and I have VoLTE and VoWiFi.

@Forbesii Thanks for starting this thread. I am struggling with the same for my Xperia 5 III. Really Really looking forward to your Complete step-by-step guide and see how I can do this for my xperia as well. Thanks in advance.

The guide is done guys. I'm still looking for methods to get mbn files not in the sony firmware.
Thanks for the update on the guide. I believe step 5 is missing a part. The mcfg_autoselect_by_uim file is not in the EFSTools download on Github.

Yes. I am stuck on the same step. It is returning the below error:
Critical error. Could not find file 'E:\Sony Xperia 5 III\EfsTools-0.14\mcfg_autoselect_by_uim'.
@Forbesii Could you please help/guide on this?
Ignored this step and it still works. The VoLTE and VoWifi both are working now (for Reliance Jio network in India). AMAZING article!
Definitely save it for future.
@Forbesii - On a side note: I am trying to add Airtel mbn (India carrier) file to my Xperia 5 III but it simply doesn't work. Neither VoLTE nor VoWifi. Are there any secondary steps/different command to copy this for SIM 2?

I haven’t tested on SIM 2. The second sim at least on Xperia 1 III is not correctly recognized by EFSTools. I might check other methods for the second SIM slot.
Thanks. Will wait to hear back from you.
