Advice: format this thing first - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

Hello all.
Just a piece of advice, I got this phone started using it and I couldn't stand the battery life and the speed of the interface, one day I just realized I should format it to give it to my brother and WOW. 10 hours since last charge with 56% battery left. Heavy usauge including inteenet surfing social media calls with 3 hours SOT using GPS and YouTube connefted to car via Bluetooth. And speed wise very comparable to my OnePlus 5 with oreo
Long story short if u have any complains format this Mofo and u will Abe happy

anyone can confirm?

confirmed by myself. like another phone!!
format it and clear cache if you think your battery is bad.
worked here
edit:
over 24hrs later
64% accu left
normal use. much bluetooth - always wlan - always sync.
2.40hrs SOT (rn)
awesome!
(3% loss over night (7-8hrs) with all on, wifi , sync. so i can recommand to format - device

final result.

whats your battery life??

post your average battery life...i want some tips from the ones who have best battery lifes..
to get the best juice out of ur o1..
use devoif froyo-final..
i got about 3 and a half battery..
3 and a half days ?? are you kidding??
My battery only lasts maybe up to 12 hours... if I'm lucky
Tried removing widgets, using a batter saver... tried charging the battery, deleting the battery stats file, discharging it recharging it... shortened display on time, turned down volumes
I don't know what's up? I've tried wiping and reinstalling ROM's... I don't even use it as much as I'd like because of the battery life
Optimus V (VM670)
AOSPmod 20110601
16gb sdcard w/1gb ext4 partition
Don't use battery savers, they increase it drain...
Mine on devoid froyo only lasts one day..tried wiping battery stats many times..but same result..
Mine is on devoid.final with franco.kernel v16.1, and I get about one and a half day of battery on average use. I play at times, send quite a number of texts and make a call once or twice a day. I developed the habit of bringing my USB cable to charge my phone at work now. :/
my phone doesnt last even for about 18 hours if i am using it on average basis by which i mean 1 hour gaming...2 hours of time pass by simply changing settings and all...but i do text quite often and have around 100 apps installed on my phone...will it help if i keep only which are necessary and use titanium backup for others which i only use once in a while.....
my last hopes are on froyo final and the above mentioned solution...i am going to try it soon...
In my experience most of the battery takes 3G mode, especially when active HSDPA. If I am using only 2G mode phone can withstand more than 2 days, which is a good result, but in the 3G just 1,5 day. Remember that at the time did not use the Internet to disable the Internet connection, it should help you.
20-24 hours.
I'm using nessy right now and getting the best battery.
I call a lot so this is the right rom for me after around two to three hours of talk I'm still left with some juice. Turn my sync and use apn off application , least screen display brightness got a widget for turning it high when I need it. Use mostly wifi for internet.
on CM7... 12 hours and it's dead. without wifi
well my battery life has improved by these steps:
1. Wiped all my data, cache, battery stats ,everything(though i don't think this is necessary).
2.Flashed froyo final.(I am now on devoid forever and will test my battery life on it)
3. Checked 2g networks only in settings-networks-mobile networks.(Dunno how much that helped me )
4.Install only apps which are necessary (i have around 50 installed)..and the rest you can restore via titanium when you need it....
and now my phone eats just around 1% per hour of idle time....(it's improved)
I get around 2 days backup on Devoid final with franco 16.1. Only 2G, 1-2 hours calls, sms, bit of wifi tethering, Browsing on edge for 1-2 hours, facebook, and no gaming
In Cm7 maximum around 20hours that too without wifi, or any fancy stuff. Just 30minutes browsing on 2g.

Dude uninstall..that watchdog thing it runs in the background and eats up battery... don't use any kind of app..that is so called battery saver.. they should rather be called battery eaters... and yeah it is always recommended.. to wipe cache.. that saves battery..

IMO it is hard to compare battery use when the phone is active because it depends on too many factors: widgets, wi-fi usage, 3g/2g, app, brightness, etc.
What can I tell is that my phone in sleep use 0.6315% battery/hour
Anyhow I charge my phone every day because I play a lot with it.
I'm using OpenOptimus 1.172.1 and franco's kernel 16.1
My routine usage goes like this: 6am to 7pm (13h) plays non stop music (fmradio or poweramp). No wifi no data, 2g only.
During that time, I use 3g data for browsing, chat, emails and youtubing for a couple of hours more or less
7pm to 10pm: 2g only, no data, wifi on. I do a few browsing around 30min top, synch stuff with dropbox etc
Finally after 16-17h of usage it has around 30% - 40% of juice left in it. Then I put it for charge, go to sleep and start over again next day
On weekends it's a completely different story. Especially when i'm fooling around with GB roms i might have to charge it 2 times a day
My battery

That's weird. I flashed and reflashed andy's rom two times and I had the same issue. 10% battery drain every 2 hours. IN IDLE.
That meant my phone was dead in 20h in idle mode, 12-14 hours if used for texting and calls.
I am also using Andy's rom and kernel, with a normal use, daily 30-40 minutes with wifi on, 30-40 minutes talk and 9-10 sms. I mention that 3g is off data is usually off so since the last full recharge passed 3 days and i am still at 28%. performance is also great. Love this rom

Battery Meter: Extreme drain when in use

I bought the samsung s2 primarily because of the amazing reviews it got for battery life.
I got mine 2 days ago and right from the start there were problems. I charged the unit three hours and according to the battery meter it had still not charged. then I tried to turn on the phone nevertheless, and it said it had 100% battery life. I then used it for 2 mins and it dropped down to 0% again and powered down. Then on charge back up to 100% in a couple of moments and back down to 0 % mins later. I took the battery out then put it back in - and then it was working fine again.
Now on day two, I've noticed an immense drain when its in use. Check out the screenshots. I think I'd be lucky to get two hours solid use out of it.
Should I return it, or does this look standard?
The battery needs some time before it reaches it full potential. In the mean time do some searching cause there already are enough battery life threads.
I already searched and read many of the other battery threads but didnt come across anyone who'd experienced the problem I described.

Correct 0-100% about four hours longer on a brand new phone ,
then I tried to turn on the phone nevertheless, and it said it had 100% battery life. I then used it for 2 mins and it dropped down to 0% again and powered down. Then on charge back up to 100% in a couple of moments and back down to 0 % mins later. I took the battery out then put it back in - and then it was working fine again.
bad battery connections clean .
Now on day two - I charged it at 9pm last night and by 9.30 am unplugged it was down to 84%. This with no apps open, no widgets running - nothing. wifi was active though.
Overnight is variable and Wifi uses battery .
then in using it for just 40 mins - doing nothing more than internet surfing through wifi; it drops from 84 - 68%.
Does this pace of battery power loss sound consistant with other users experiences, or should I return the unit and ask for a new one?
I think you have two choices one charge the battery read all the battery posts .
Or return to seller .
Personally i would turn WiFi GPS etc off at night charge phone to 100% see what it drops to by morning .Big drop and it would be returned as your original 100% to 0 drop very quickly suggests a possible fault .

Thanks for your feedback.
I've read through quite a few posts there.
One thing; do we know how long galaxy s2 should be able to be on for if the screen was on the whole time? Is four hours low, or does that sound right??
50% or less on brightness playing SD video should last more then 7 hours , browsing web however can be 5ish+ .
Screen at 100% and browsing web drains battery fast , 4 sounds about right.
It all depends what and how you doing it ?
Well I have it on auto brightness, usually which seems to be around 50%....
and I'm web browsing or just playing around with settings and looking at menus. I'm down to 45% battery and have probably had the screen lit up for maybe 90 mins max??
rest of the time phone has been on idle with wifi on but no network activity...
does this sound below what it shoudl be??
OK I've now attached my screenshot.
Does this battery usage seem normal??
i.e, such extreme drops when the phone is in active use???
All I've been doing is texting, some wifi surfing, and looking at menus.
Search the forum for "Android OS bug". There's no solution yet though. Turning wifi off when you're not using it helps.

Hi there.
I have installed Lite’ning Rom v1.5. Everything is working ok, but yesterday before sleeping I had battery 80 %, today after 6 h it drops to 1 %. I have data transfer turned off, also Gps, WiFi, ... Also before 2 weeks it drops from 100 % to 70 % after some hours with no using.
I have to add, that my battery held up for 4 days once with no particular using.
Any ideas plz?
Thx for answer.

Batterylife comparison: Stock VS CM9 VS CM10

Hi all
This is my first post, so let's hope I've gotten it right and am abiding by all the rules and the n00b video. And yes I did search for a good 10 minutes about batterylife and battery before posting and didn't find anything relevant.
I've recently swapped over from Apple iPhone and I'm now very much enjoying being on Android. However batterylife is a big concern for me, as on iPhone I could go 2-3 days without charging and now I can barely make it home from work and I definately have to plug it in before dinner. And yes this is with me closing down applications, wifi when not used, bluetooth when not used, running latest kies released PHONE:LFB firmware and so on.
So my question is... how is your batterylife after having rooted and installed a custom rom? The one I'm thinking mostly about using is definately the new Preview 3 (or perhaps wait for 4 or 5) of CM10, that XpLoDWilD is working on. Does anyone have any experience with the batterylife before and after?
Thanks a lot for any help you can provide! :highfive:

That's very weird. Are you international or a US S3? I easily get 3 days battery, very easily. Perhaps try turning off useless stuff like bluetooth, gps, wifi, etc when you're not using them. Turn off push email and other useless crap. See how it goes then?
I still have the stock ROM, usually 3.5 days battery before it gets to 10% and i charge. I'm going to go to OMEGA rom soon though.
I have tried almost all custom roms out there. And I can easily say the battery life is not any better if not worse on custom roms.
Stick with the stock rom. I would however recommend flashing a custom kernel like speedmod or phenomenal. They definitely give you that extra juice you need at the end of the day. The idle time and screen time has increased for me 10 to 20 % compared to stock.

I'm using the international version. I did turn off bluetooth and wifi, but not gps. Will try that aswell. I have manuel mail check every 1 hour, but will try to set it to 4 hours.
However from what I read in the reviews on GSMarena and other sites, it's quite normal to only get 1 day worth of battery.
Description of a pretty basic day with the Galaxy S3:
I usually unplug mine at 6 am, with wifi and bluetooth off and screen always on auto brigthness. Then at 7 am i turn on bluetooth for my earphones and bike to the train station and browse the web and such for about 45 minutes in the train. When I arrive at work it's usually around 80% battery and I turn off bluetooth. Then I'm at work from 8 am to 4 pm and check mails, texts, calendar and possibly make 1 or 2 short phone calls. At 4 pm I think the battery is often around 40-50%. Then again on the ride home I use the same, so it's usually around 20-30% when I come home. I then usually turn on wifi and play a couple of games, or watch some Netflix on it while I'm doing some other stuff or attach it to my stereo and play so music from Spotify on it. At 6-7 pm it's usually beeping at the 5, 10 or 15% marker for more power and wants me to plug it in to a power source. If I try to wait till I go to bed, I usually end up having it automatically shut down from lack of power.
I'm wondering if this seems normal or if perhaps my battery is faulty. From the review at GSMarena it seems quite normal and that's just the way Android is. They even gave it a good battery rating inspite of saying that it would only last them a day.

Okay, thank you for your reply
it all depends on the usage i have an iphone 4 as well and i have to charge it by the end of the day (at 10pm). So it dpends on what you do with your phone if you use 3g all the time thats not gonna last long if you have syncing on all the time and gps that wont help...if you just let it idle then you can get 3 days uptime with maybe 1 hour screen time.

My basic day is charge the phone at around 8pm, unplug at 10pm. I never charge overnight it's pointless (not that i think it'll hurt it). Wake up battery is usually around 95% after my alarm goes off. Brightness is about 60%. I don't browse the web very much, and I don't play many games, let's say 1 hour of web and 1 hour of games/videos/music per day. Maybe 1 hour of maps too. Mostly though, I text message and phone call.
I don't think yours is faulty, i think it's quite normal, it seems like you're a heavy user, I'm a light user. If I used my phone as heavily as you did i'd be happy with 1 day of battery.
One day of charge (the battery being at 20-40% at the end of the day depending on the usage) is quite normal.
I've found CM9 with Siyah to give the best standby battery (1-2% drain per hour with 3G and Sync enabled) since it's very lightweight and has no battery-draining bloatware other than what you install.
CM10 is still too new and unfinished to be battery-friendly, it's not that bad though.
However sometimes it will chew the battery for no freaking reason (at least I cannot found any) and the CM9/CM10 stock kernel is not that battery-friendly on active usage. No Siyah yet =(

No way is that good man, that means that if you leave it on standby alone you lose 25% per day. 0.5% per hour would be good/normal IMO.

(Xperia Go) Battery Life

Hi I'm looking for a discussion rather than a Q so I chose this section.
I'm looking to chat with Go users about the battery life. How long does your battery last and what do you use it for? I notice that it
has a comparatively small battery but this doesn't always mean low battery - and I notice this phone IS being officially updated to Jelly Bean. I think the lower resolution screen helps keep the CPU and battery relaxed perhaps? What's your usage like?
Per Day Usage
Phone calls
Music
Internet browsing
I'm using the Sola and I hate the battery, I have to charge it 1-2 times per day. I use it for 1 hour of browsing, 1 hour of music, 5 minutes of calls, lighting texting - then it dies, I hate it. I'm considering the Go or J. The J has poor CPU/RAM but far bigger battery vs the Go.

The GO has a *****n nice battery life I'm using a Sola and get round 16hours. My friend got a GO and his battery was after 9 hours from 100 on 80%!!
After 9 hours, your friend's Go went from 100 to 80%? That's not bad at all! Does he/she leave the internet on? That seems to be a huge battery killer but I need it. If the Go could last 2 days I'd buy it now...
I bought my XGO two weeks ago, and below is my battery life and its usage (sorry no screenshots)
Battery Life:
100% to 15% lasted around 45-50 hours
2 to 3 hours screen on time
Usage:
Exchange push sync (email, calendar)
Gmail push sync (email, calendar, contact)
Outlook.com sync every 1 hour (email, calendar, contact)
No Social Network (Facebook, Twitter, etc) sync
light web browsing of 15 minutes daily
Power Saver implemented:
Installed BitDefender PowerTuneup (disable all network connectivity from 1 - 6am daily, except only connected to basic phone network)
Restricted all background 3G data except for Exchange, and Google native services
Location, GPS, Bluetooth turned off 99.5% of time.
Screen Auto 55%
Battery life is almost the same as my Galaxy Nexus, but my Galaxy Nexus can never get more than 2 hours screen on time even with 2000mAh battery, I guess maybe the screen used up too much power... Battery life for Go is pretty good in my opinion, would be super if it comes with 1600-1700 mAh battery...

Yes he did The whole day, his mobile Internet is activated and he has a screen on time of round 75%!!
I get about 4-5 hours nonstop browsing with brightness at about 30%, wifi and autosync on.
If wifi is off, I lose 2-3% while I sleep. That's about 7-8 hrs of sleep.
I keep data on and forced 3g during work. Signal is poor at my desk so with constant use I end up with about 30-40% after 7 hours if I didn't bring my charger.
Battery mileage really depends on how it's used and what's installed and what's running and how bright the screen is.
The bottom line is that this phone lasts one work day with me without having to charge.

My experience from Go's battery is that if you do not have 3G on is good. Otherwise it is draining too fast. I get 1-2 days battery life depending on the use. Usage is mainly phone calls and texting and a bit of browsing and checking fora through tapatalk or xda apps. For forum reading I use 2g/edge so to not drain my battery. Brightness is at auto with 100% max level. In general I don't think its battery cab endure a whole day of heavy use.. Screen usually drains 65-70% of battery according to statistics.

Xperia GO Battery Life
I got this phone two weeks ago after having a water ingress failure on my Motorola Defy.. what a shame, but now I'm happy. This ST27a is a great phone, I am not a phone movie watcher or gamer, so CPU and RAM are more than adequate for myself. Great look, light weight, perfect size AND waterproof (angels singing)... I ordered it unlocked and it came with ICS pre-loaded (4.0.4), at first it was such a huge disappointment as for the battery life, it was draining very very quickly almost needing two charges at day, there was a system update available but I was lazy enough to not install the Sony thing on my PC, then I finally got the weekend time and updated it (to the 6.1.1.B.1.10, KERNEL VERSION 3.0.8+) IT SOLVED MY BATTERY ISSUES!!!
The phone has a more than sufficient battery life, I do surf web every time during the day, have updates every 30 minutes for Gmail, Facebook, weather, news, everything, and it lasts from 8.00am at 100% to next 11.00am to 14% (which the preset low batt alarm sounds). Only thing I do is switch data off during night that's it. Screen brightness while in the office is at minimum but you can easily read it very clearly. I do take a lot of pictures for my work and some videos and still get that battery life. The phone is OK, just take care of which software version you have installed. I am sure that if I would turn the data off and activate it only while the screen is on, the batt would last at least two days (I will make this test and see what happens).... cheers.

With data, bluetooth and wifi off, I only lose about 1-2% overnight.
With Data on, this thing drains about 1% every 2 minute or so.

Batterylife worse after update

Hello.
I'm just wondering if anyone know how the Estimated Battery life function in the battery-menu works on the Mate 20 Pro. When I compare my phone vs my girlfriends I have a much lower expected battery life compared to her, with approximately the same usage and settings on both Mate 20s.
If I remember from the top of my head, I get an average of 50 hours expected at the Ultra Powersaver Settings, compared to her phone which is expected at over 200 hours when fully charged. I'm currently running the .153 update, she's still at the previous update and is getting significantly better batterylife than my device.
I've tried rebooting and clearing cache from the Recovery Menu, monitoring the apps from Settings>Battery where everything seems normal, changed resolution to Smart Resolution and 'Optimizing' the phone through the batterymenu.
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
Same problem here, since I installed the 153 update I have sudden battery drain bursts while the phone is idle. Battery will go from 60-80% to 0% in less than an hour.
It's happened twice during the last days: once while I was sleeping (so no phone activity caused by myself) and just right now. I've also cleared app cache, but it hasn't solved anything.
In the Settings->Battery->Usage it reports that "Phone" is draining the battery (no calls were made during that period). No other app has a high battery usage.
Is this a known bug that has been fixed in future updates?
Hi,
I have also experienced the same problem after I installed the .153 update. Battery drain is very noticable and I have factory reset/cleared the system cache but there is no difference. Huawei support have told me the battery may be faulty and so I will need to send it off for repair but i now think it is possibly a fault in the update.
Not sure what to do ?
I have .153 version and everything is working perfectly.
Try to clean cache and use it for a few days for the battery AI to settle in. That's what I usually do after a minor update. If the update is big, I would backup and do clean cache and factory reset together. BTW, after 171 update, I had experienced 3% per hour standby battery drain. But after factory reset, it's down to 0.4% per hour. Quite impressive.

Hey what are you using to backup? Using Huawei it wants to put it on hisuite via laptop since I don't have external nano SD. Is this what you used? Thanks
I use a USB type C OTG Stick with a Micro SD card inserted. Alternatively, you can also use any USB stick with a type C OTG cable. Using Hisuite via laptop should also be easy and reliable.
Coming from a 6T i have been dissapointed with the battery on mate 20 pro , everyone has hyped this phone on battery life . first it dont seems to idle drain not as good as 6T will give it a couple of cycles but at the moment looks like selling this and going back to 6T
Best battery life ever, use it all day, tons of surfing, taking many pics, listen to FLACS on my Sony wh1000xm2 and hardly ever end the day below 60%. Am on 153.
I did hear that staring at your screen and settings all day long is bad for your battery. Just saying...

I have both and I will say that 6T battery is very impressive but I am seeing similar batt life on mate 20 pro. Easily get 2 days with light to moderate use. Your milage may vary.
Have Had the same problem when i got the phone recently , setup my accounts and apps then got two updates in the same day 153 and 171 , the battery is good not bad but i just feel its not like everyone is saying i can get a more than a full day usage out of it but i just have to turn off everything except for wifi and 4g , disabling raise to wake and stay connected while in sleep specifically helped the battery life a lot but i still think it drains too much specially in standby where i can lose over 10% overnight and when browsing chrome over 4g (simple surfing not streaming)
i will try to backup and do a factory reset and see what happens.
BTW this my usage from yesterday ,not bad but this is with bluetooth off , mostly on wifi , raise to wake off , turn off data when the phone sleep on , location off , auto rotation off, manage apps manually only a handful are allowed in background , only autosync for gmail on and screen brightness barely above 50% mostly 30% or something

I was in the same situation when updating from 171 to 182, where the battery barely lasted 4 hours SOT, yesterday I did the factory reset and charged my phone to 100% I unplugged it at 9:30 AM and just plugged it in again today at 1:40PM, managed to get 8hours SOT with plenty usage, mails, spotify, netflix (via chromecast) and youtube overnight to sleep, bluetooth ang 4g on all time (most of the surfing was on wifi which is also always on) no need to turn off the location or something, auto brightness and QHD+ resolution
unfurtunately I was so excited that i forgot to take screenshots before plugging the phone, but I'm pretty sure that the factory reset + cache wipe definitely helped
i dont know man, have tried factory reset yesterday unplugged today at 10am didnt turn off anything left resolution at smart, i only disabled raise to wake because i dont like it, all apps managed automatically couple of uber rides, 90 mins of calls , surfing mostly on wifi , remote desktop, no streaming videos or music its now 11.30 iam at 49% with 2.5h sot, i think its improved but still wont reach that 8h sot unlesss i turn off more things like before still i think the vattery is great but not behaving like a 4200mah one seems like the screen specially and standby power consumptio is high, btw do you have the lg or boe scren because i saw people reporting worsr battery life after replacing their green lg screens with boe, o have the boe one maybe its the culprit.

I have a BOE screen, I havent used the phone that much today but performance and usage is basically the same, mostly because I use this as my "everything" phone both personal and job, I would recommend taking it to warranty if you can because if the factory reset + cache clear didnt worked I'm not sure what that could be as the device is still very new to have a considerable battery wear
i dont think its that bad to take it to warranty, actually compared to the galaxy s8 its great plus i imported it so no warranty option, i just feel it coukd have been more, it appears when screen is on i am kosing about 1% every 5-7 minutes whatever i am doing, i dont know if its normal, just today i already lost 16% in 3 hours with only 25 minutes of sot and wasnt doing much, i started suspecting google chrome is the culprit or the screen is power hungry, also when you factory reset did you install everything from scratch because i restored a full backup including apps and app data from hisuite may be i should install everything from scratch i dont know

I restored from my google account, which only restores contacts and apps (but installs the apps from zero) I had some experiences with several backup apps/services which affected my devices so i decided to go from 0
will try to factory reset and only restore image and videos and install aoos from scratch and see what happens
