Honor 9 softbrick [FIXED] - Honor 9 Questions & Answers

UPDATE:
Remember, you do this at your own risk. But if you need to do this, you propably wouldn't even care anyway.
Heres a guide on how I fixed my phone for anyone interested:
1. I downloaded the files from here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/firmware-huawei-honor-9-stf-l09-stock-t3696892
2. Formatted my sdcard to exFAT
3. Moved the dload folder to the root of the sdcard
4. Booted my phone with the sdcard in by pressing power + vol up + vol down
5. It started updating and after that it was all good.
I think you should also move the other .app file from the folder inside dload to dload and rename it update.app and continue from step 4 and then again the original update.app if that makes any sense.
Thanks to oslo83 for helping me out.
Original post:
So I rooted and installed twrp on my eu Honor 9 using this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/how-to/one-guide-recovery-os-roms-t3661829
I ended up pretty much just like this guy with his P9 plus https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9-plus/help/os-installed-backup-how-install-stock-t3538829
I can:
boot into fastboot
boot into erecovery
boot into twrp
I cant:
boot into android
So what I would like to do is get my phone to the state it was when I first bought it. Stock rom, working at all.
Im desperate. I need a working phone as soon as possible and cant find any guide to fix my issue.
If im doing anything wrong please have mercy on me, this is my first post and I hate to ask for help but this is my only choice.
I would be glad if anyone could help me, or even tried.

You should be able to use this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/how-to/guide-honor-9-t3653719
But because you failed to do so you should try the other way:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/firmware-huawei-honor-9-stf-l09-stock-t3696892

Thank you very much. I will try this.
UPDATE: The second method worked like a charm!
For anyone having the same problem, I will update the original post with more clear instructions with how I did it.

I just created an account only to say THANK YOU!
After 5 hours of trying your method worked perfectly.

Ulefone Power Root

Hey,
so does anyone know how to root this device? Received it yesterday and am waiting for root since most of the Apps I am using require it.
Help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

Try the Kingroot tool.
Worked for me.

Well it didn't work for me. Tried both the APK and Windows version. Meh.
Ok, then I suggest you try Megthebest's TWRP method from here:
http://www.needrom.com/download/twrp-2-8-7-3-megthebest-6/
Ah, I'd have to reset my whole settings, widgets, etc., then. Don't feel like it. I think I'll wait for Kingroot to update. Thanks anyways!

I don't think so... (Or am I missing something???)
All you need to do is install PC drivers, flash TWRP as your recovery.img (=system, data and other user images are unaffected) and then just flash root using SuperSU .zip.
Can't see that there is a need to do any resets or wipes to get it working, nor should you flash over any of your personal settings.
Recommend you check with Megthebest, he's a user and has another thread on the Ulefone Power here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/ulefone-power-real-reviews-discussion-t3300315
There might be other rooting tips there too.

Just receive but this phone seem really good, only bad point is 5.5 inch, why i use d600 as main phone, but really love this ulefone power, perhaps soon use as main phone if find solution supply.
(french, sorry for my poor English)
Has anyone tried using fastboot on this device?
You can boot into fastboot by holding volume up and power. Then volume up to select fastboot and volume down to select the option (weir but it works).
I was able to use "fastboot flashing unlock" to successfully unlock the device. You can also see what is available by using "fastboot OEM?" command.
I did not want to flash anything on the phone and wanted to just boot TWRP for the device using "fastboot boot <image file name>" but it failed to boot. I think the boot command has been changed since and now needs memory locations.
I have tried "fastboot flash recovery <file name>" and it flashed successfully but trying to go into recovery still gives the stock recovery. I'm not sure what really flashed and where.
This is a great phone ! Just hope to find root !

RN3 bootloader unlocked but need help

I received my bootloader unlock code yesterday so started the procedure to unlock it.
I got the dreaded 50% error, I fixed this by connecting the phone in fastboot to the miui sweet where it let me update to the latest version # 7.5. I installed TWRP and then after rebooting I lost wifi and the use of TWRP.
At the moment after spending all morning on the internet looking for answers I am stuck. My phone works but has no wifi and cannot access TWRP.
I have seen there is a tut for the soup kitchen to create a new img file but cannot find the original version I need.
I want to install the CM 13 rom, please someone offer advise on next steps to take.
Thanks
Gary

Thanks for the link, I am struggling to get it to work.
I will look at uploading some pictures to better explain myself.
Ok here is a picture.
I can't complete the guide in the video.
When I get to the stage with CMD, I verify its sees my phone but when I drag the twrp image over I get the error below.
The first error is where I forgot to drag over the image file, second is what I need help with.
Okay, from what I understand, you flashed a Stock MIUI ROM through fastboot, right? And then you are trying to flash TWRP.
From what I know, flashing a firmware through Fastboot relocks the bootloader. Can you check if you bootloader is locked or unlocked? If it is locked, then unlock it again and then flash TWRP.
use the command "fastboot oem device-info" to check bootloader status.
If it is locked, unlock bootloader again.
If already unlocked, then flash TWRP using "fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-2-kenzo.img"
or alternatively use "fastboot boot recovery twrp-3.0.2-2-kenzo.img" to boot into TWRP without flashing it and then install the recovery image from within it. You do have to copy the TWRP img file to the phone storage first.
It says bootlodaer unlocked - true, so that's fine.
I cannot install twrp at all through cmd at all from the video.
I must be missing someting but dont know what. Is there an alternative method of installing it?

draging the file into cmd copies the path of the file with its name which gives you an error..the error just says that it is unable to locate the file.just delete "c\adb " from the below line the you are done.
fastboot flash recoveryc:\adb\twrp-3.0.2.2-kenzo.img
the right way to do is
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-2-kenzo.img
2'nd step :- fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2-2-kenzo.img

That's whats wrong. You have the wrong files selected
fastboot script: flash all.bat
flash programmer go into images folder and select the file named something like firehose 8976 or similar
also for rawprogram and patch find the corresponding xml files in the images folder.

I don't think my pc is seeing my phone correctly.
I load EDL and phone goes black with red flashing led.
When black, I open up MIFlash. I then browse for Kenzo image and click ok then refresh.
I then click advanced and confirm I have chosen correct image, raw and patch file - which I have.
I then click flash and get error as pictured.
So it look likes I was doing everything correct but still doesn't work.
I doesn't show in picture but link to programmer, raw and patch are as follows.
Programmer - C:\Users\Gary\Desktop\kenzo_global_images_V7.3.7.0.LHOMIDD_20160523.0000.23_5.1_global\images\prog_emmc_firehose_8976_ddr.mbn
Raw - C:\Users\Gary\Desktop\kenzo_global_images_V7.3.7.0.LHOMIDD_20160523.0000.23_5.1_global\images\rawprogram0.xml
Patch - C:\Users\Gary\Desktop\kenzo_global_images_V7.3.7.0.LHOMIDD_20160523.0000.23_5.1_global\images\patch0.xml
So I think links are correct.
Before I tried Dior, I updated to V7.5. Image file is for Kenzo V7.3.7.
Not sure if it matters.

HI, no difference I'm afraid.
If possible could I add you to Skype for making this easier?
Just noticed in MiFlash for device name it stays as COM3 and doesn#t show device name, could it be that it can't see my devioce properly?
I feel like Im typing to myself here but trying to give as much information as possible.
Reading another unbrick method. It says open adb folder and open cmd with shift. In CMD I type devices, it then say list of devices attached BUT nothing there!
Then I type adb reboot edl - error device (null) not found.
I don't think it sees my phone......
Hopefully that is enough for you to know the problem.
How to fix please?

If the error shows reached the end you need to restart the pc
And as far as I see from your pics you should extract the tgz rom to C:/ROM/MIUI and all files should be in that
Remember when you extract a file it first creates a folder with the name of the file and then extracts using winRar.
This worked for me
Hit thanks if I helped.

How did you fixed the 50% hurdle? By just flashing the latest firmware and then trying to unlock? You did officially unlock right?
B'coz it didn't work for me.

Got my KIW-L21 softbricked

Hi,
so, I got my Honor 5x rooted and CM 13 installed a few months ago from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/hon...-unofficial-cyanogenmod-13-0-nightly-t3344499.
Last week or so some apps just didn't exist any more on my phone. Also I wasn't able to download any kinds of things, like apps, documents, pictures or whatever. After some time I figured out, that it was because of my SD-card being dead. When I removed it, all was fine again.
Another problem, that I got from the beginnning of having this ROM installed, I wasn't able to do updates, still don't know why exactly.
So I decided to wipe my phone and reinstall a newer version of CM in hope, that all would be fine again.
After performing backups and so on, I downloaded the latest build of CM from the official website (the one from 1st october) and GApps with ARM64, pushed it on my device and tried to install it with TWRP 3.0.2. I did a full wipe before, also deleting internal storage and System.
Error 7 occured and after some Internet research I read about this "assert" line. Figured out, that I got 2 oft them in this file and deleted the second telling something about the TB number, because it was also named in the error of TWRP.
Then pushed it on the device again and tried to install it. There was no error while installing, but after optimizing the apps, I got bootloops. Tried flashing other ROMs, including the one I got two days before, but it still got the same problem.
Also this huawei eRecovery thingy couldn't help me.
Now I don't know how to get an OS on my phone again, it would be very nice if someone could help me.
I also don't know whether there is a thread, that already deals with this topic, but I didn't know how to search for this.
If there is anything left unclear I'm very sorry, it's my first time posting, please excuse.
Thank you!

The matter is, ROMs built after 18/8/2016 requires that you upgrade to Marshmallow stock ROM that means EMUI 4.0.
then you can flash the custom ROMs without problems.
If you're on bootloop, can you boot to fastboot or TWRP manually?

Try to get back to stock firmware, to do that download the latest firmware, extract to get dload folder containing UPDATE.APP, use Huawei update extractor to extract recovery, Cust, boot and system images.
Flash them to your phone using fastboot, put dload folder in the root of an SD, insert it in your phone and press and hold vol up + vol down + power until the phone boots up to force an update.
Have you already tried this? If not, do this please.
If yes, please elaborate "erecovery could not help me*...

What file did you get (link) ?
theirs no need to use the HuaweiUpdateExtractor, unless you need the stock recovery from it.
all you need is Stock recovery (installed) and the Update.app for your current version
Update.app goes in a folder named dload on the sdcard, now simply shut the phone off and restart it while holding power + volup + voldown
after 5 seconds let go of the power button and continuing holding the vol buttons till you see the update begin (around 25 seconds)

Is it an update.app file?
Then you have to force update. Refer to @clsA 's thread.

Then you have to force update. Refer to @clsA 's thread.

If not, do this please.

got the right one now, download worked faster than expected.
Is there any possibility to install the dload file without using a sd-card?

[SOLVED] Stuck on update after recovering bricked device

Hello,
I had the same problem as the guy on the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7/help/bricked-formated-honor-7-rom-t3480339 but when following the help steps, I encountered a problem.
When installing the update, it always gets stuck at 5%. I have tried using just ""RECOVERY.img" and "BOOT.img" as well as inculding "SYSTEM.img" and "CUST.img".
I think the problem might be that I downloaded the wrong software seeing as all I know about the device model is that it is PLK-L01 and I live in the UK.
Can anyone help me please?

Download the latest firmware for your phone, should be B380, Extract it to get UPDATE.APP.
Use Huawei update extractor to extract stock recovery, Cust, system and boot images and flash them using fastboot.
And then see if the system boots up in android.
If it does not, copy the UPDATE.APP to a folder named dload in your SD card and press power + vol up + vol down until your phone boots. Let go of power but keep other two pressed for five, six sec more.
If the forced update gets stuck ( at 5% or any other), wait around 20 minutes for it to resolve itself. If that does not happen, do the power + vol up + vol down combo again.
If the problem is not solved after 3,4 tries, please report back.
Hope this is detailed, if you need information, please specify the step which is problematic.

Another way to solve is to restore your twrp backup, after it is successfully restored, don't boot to Android, just enter fastboot mode and flash the boot and system files of the Android version that twrp backup was using.

Wiil try and do
U think it will work on L24?
A bit of context here - my device model is BND-L34 (Mate SE) and I had tried using a method that a user posted in a Mate SE specific thread that detailed how to manually update to Oreo.
Well, that failed miserably and I ended up with a bricked device. I had tried numerous different things to try and revive it (some that I had come up with on my own) and none of them worked. Then I thought to use Multi-Tool to unbrick it with a backup I had lying around but unfortunately it was a Nougat backup.
I had almost lost hope until stumbling upon this thread. I figured I had nothing else to lose so I decided to try to restore my phone with Multi-Tool and your backup files - all except for the system image because MEGA decided to **** block me due to it being a large file (you should definitely upload them elsewhere, by the way), so what I did was use a stock system image someone uploaded in the OpenKirin RROS thread along with the rest of your backup files.
I had also gotten a stock ramdisk_recovery.img file from somewhere else (forgot where but if anyone has trouble finding a stock recovery for Oreo I can upload mine). And VOILA (hope I spelled that right)! My device is back to life on Oreo and I couldn't be more happy.
SO all in all, even if you didn't intend for L34 users to use these files, I want to thank you!
System image I used (see post #2)

Had to put them in a separate post if I didn't wanna go through the trouble of moving the screenshots to my PC and uploading them there
Thanks man, it's great..:good::good::good::good::good:

If twrp works, there is a patch file that you can use to unlock frp.
MOD EDIT: LINK REMOVED
Would be helpful to understand what caused this problem though.

Ok. Some reason twrp does not good a good job with factory resets.
I suggest flash that frp unlock.zip
Then flash stock ramdisk.img and stock kernel.img.
That will remove magisk, for now anyway.
Then try to boot. If still not, then flash stock recovery and do factory reset. But if reset again locks frp. You will be stuck.
If you dont mind resetting from fresh system maybe just reflash with hurupdater or hwota, instead of flashing stock recovery.
