Gallery not showing albums correctly - Honor 9 Questions & Answers

Since the Oreo update I've noticed a lot of images and albums are not showing up in the gallery. All the albums are on ext sd card. Some are displayed but not the entire contents of a folder/album. Has anyone else got or had this problem or got any idea on a fix? Thanks.

I have similar issue. All albums are displayed in the albums card in gallery, but none of new photos show up in photos card since new updates.

[Q] FC when adding photos to album

Does anyone else experience a force close of the Gallery when they attempt to add a photo to an album? I.E - Gallery.. Pick a picture.. Menu.. Add to album.
Thanks,
Rick
I am having force close issues and problems saving pictures when I was saving to my SD card. I switched to internal storage and everything is now fixed.

Could it be the sd Card? What card do you have?

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I am having this issue. Has anyone found a fix?
I have tried, moving pics over to internal storage, formatting sd card and moving back, and even taking a new picture. So far no luck
I never found a fix, and MR5 did not appear to fix the problem either.. This happens if my photos are stored on internal memory, or on a card..
guess I will hit the motor phoroms in the morning. Thanks for the update.
Just wanted to update this. I also ran into the issue of not being able to record videos as well, or them being deleted if it did record.
A few hard resets later and i found a work around. Hard reset and clear cache, and only add your google account. then open the camera and set up the sd card etc. then go into gallery and add a pic and make an album. After that is should work. I am not sure if it the camera not searching the sd card or adding facebook that causes it, but this is what has worked for me on 3 occasions now.

My Gallery took a dump

So I decided over the weekend to finally take the plunge. I unlocked my phone and then rooted it. While setting everything back up I noticed that the gallery wouldn't show any pictures. Here are the steps I have taken to trouble shoot:
1. Took a pic with my camera. It showed up on the corner to access the gallery, but nothing was there.
2. Changed the wallpaper with a gallery pic. This pulled up the gallery with all of my pictures.
3. Removed and re-installed my SD card.
4. Unmounted and remounted the SD card.
5. Downloaded Gallery3d and accessed it that way. That pulls up just fine.
Anyone got an idea of what I'm missing?
Thanks.
Stock gallery only sees the internal card. Maybe you changed the camera to store in SD which would be the external card. I don't know but for this reason I started to use QuickPic and I like it 1000000000 times better than the stock gallery.

No, the stock gallery showed the SD card no problem before I messed with it. But I am hearing a lot about QuickPic. Can I set that to the default when I'm in my Camera as well for a quick view?

Unfortunately no, it will only use Gallery. I don't mind gallery for previews but creating albums etc, too much hassle with Gallery.

ICS update wiped all my photos

Sure surprised me. The update left everything else intact. The Gallery app doesn't even have my Picasa photos either. I can choose Picasa and it shows the folders, but every album has no content in it.
Update: after a refresh a couple of times the gallery app finally agreed I had albums and photos in Picasa. Still no sign of any photo that was previously on my phone. Even a photo I took in the morning right before I updated the phone has disappeared.
Anyone else notice this?
Are you sure they are missing from the sd card? An OTA update never touches the sd card.
Use a root explorer and see if your photo's are still on your sd card, if you can see them then either your sd card needs to be formated or it could be bad.

Thanks. Found the photos using a file explorer. Can use the file explorer to open the photos using the Gallery app. Apparently they hard coded a change in the Gallery app to where it looks for photos though, because I can see an photo I've take since the update, but there appears to be no way to tell the Gallery App to find and display the prior photos right where they were originally stored on my SD card.
Anyone have an "easy" way to fix this?

Once the File Explorer proved the original photos were still on board, I simply plugged the phone into my PC and moved them to where the camera/gallery app are currently saving/finding photos. Took a moment to thin out and sort them as well. Could have done all this with the File Explorer, but much easier on the large screen of my PC.

[Q] Gallery Showing Pictures in Wrong Order

I am running CM7.2 on my Atrix, and when I stored photos on the internal storage, it would store them in reverse chronological order, as it was supposed to. I had never kept an SD card in my phone but I recently got a good deal on a 64gb SanDisk card and set the camera to store pictures on the external storage.
Pictures stored on the SD card were being stored in chronological order, instead of reverse chronological order, so I had to scroll through all of them to get to my most recent. Pictures on the internal storage and pictures in other albums (such as downloaded pictures) were still in reverse, it was just the SD photos that were wrong.
A few weeks ago, I was going to be out of cell coverage for a week, so I transferred all of my photos to the SD card so I would have more space for pinning music from Google Music (why doesn't Google Music allow you to use external storage for pinning music?) and now all of my photos, except my downloaded photos which are still on my internal storage, are in the wrong order. I have over 400 photos, so this is kind of a pain.
Is there a setting I am missing, or is this a known issue with external SD cards?
Use quickpic. You can choose how you want them displayed. Its the best out there.
That is a great alternative, and I have been playing with it for a little bit now. Thank you for pointing it out. But what I would really like is to know why the stock gallery app is acting like it is.

That I don't know. From the day I got my phone I've used quickpic as the stock gallery never finds all of my 2000+ pictures internally or externally.

Missing Camera Pictures from Gallery or SD Card after taking them..WTF!!!

I took some pictures with my LG V10 over the last 24 hours to test the camera out. I am able to preview the picture once it has been taken. Today I went to show some friends the pics I took and they are showing as either unsupported or they are not listed in the Camera or DCIM folder using ES File Explorer. I went checked my Google Photos and the pictures are there and they are showing fine.
I decided to take another picture a minute ago and check my LG Gallery on my V10 and the pic was there briefly and then it disappeared but it appeared in my Google Photos gallery. I have a 128GB micro SD card that has 125GB of free space so I know it is not a space issue.
I have reformatted the Micro SD card and the photos are either showing up as an unsupported format or it is missing. I just took a picture and saved it to the V10 and not the SD card and the pictures are still in my Gallery. My mind is blown right now.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is anyone else having the same issue or is it just me?
Exactly the same thing here.
I have had my LGv10 for about 5 days now. I absolutely love it. But some pictures I took that I was rather proud of are nowhere to be found in the Galllery app. Fortunately, I shared them on Facebook, where I was able to download them.

Not mindblowing at all. You have a defective microSD card. Replace it.
I have had the same problems with no sdcard installed.
I do not use a Micro SD in my V10 and I have this issue. I'll take a picture with the back camera, it will appear in the preview circle in the bottom right corner, then in a split second dissappear. I do not have this issue with pictures from my front camera.
Ive never experienced this....by chance has anyone clicked on the menu in the gallery to show locked files? Maybe somehow they were locked after taking the photo? This is the only thing i can think of. Hope it helps any
Also check google picture settings. There is one that will "free" up phone space after it has backup the picture to google.
I found same issue on my V10 and found they were saving to my Verizon media and update of the app made all photos go there in my internal storage.
