Hello everyone!
We are trying to restore EMUI on a french Honor 9 , it's actually running RROS 7.1, but everytime we try an UPDATE.app, every time we have an "install failed" and we can't use the eRecovery to download the right firmware because we have "getting package info failed"
If someone have the link to the good firmware or know how we can restore EMUI throught fastboot or recovery (we tried to flash the update.zip with a 9 error) it can be helpful!
Thanks for your help
Just flash back the stock system.img via fastboot.
Hey ! I'm french too and i have the same issue... Where can I found the file you're talking about @oslo83 ?
You dl a stock firmware, and with " huawei tools extractor" or something like that, you'll be able to "open" a update.app and extract image inside. In this case : system.img
EDIT :
[TOOL] Huawei Update Extractor

Do like sonneper said, use Huawei Update Extractor to get your stock system.img
Here is a good thread with many more info:

Maybe it's "off topic " but, from my experience, somethime, fastboot screen show you bootloader unlocked ( in red ) but it's not ! you ave to unlock it again before doing anything.
It was my two cents : )
Thank you a lot i gonna try this !

using fastboot command, to can lock / unlock bootloader ,search for fastboot command on google. For bootloader unlock :
"fastboot oem unlock XXXXXXXXXXXXX" without quotes and with XXXXX = your unlock bootloader number, you get from huawei website. If don't have this hauwei unlock code, I think you just have to use app like funkyhuawei or DC unlock ( you have to pay between 30 or 50$ for this apps )

We flashed the update.app of the B130 firmware, it was a success, EMUI is working and the bootloader is now locked
But we have lost capacitive keys (return/menu) and we don't know how we can fix that
Thnks
To fix your capacitives button and flashlight:
1) Use HWOTA7 to flash B120 firmware then update
or
2)Update to B360 and then flash the kernel fix

So I unlocked bootloader and FRP. Installed magis. It was working, but when i tried to install xposed, it went into a bootloop. Now I'm stuck at eRecovery screen with nothing working. I've done factory reset 10-15 times. Clicking 'Download latest version and recovery' is also not giving anything. Can go to fastboot mode. Went there, saw FRP was locked. Thinking I'll redo the process, I relocked the bootloader. But now the commands aren't working as neither 'allow oem unlock' nor 'usb debugging' is enabled. I can't enable them as phone won't boot up. Any solutions? Please help.

So, then try flash same system partition via fastboot.
I tried flashing original firmware using DC-Pheonix. But phone is still in bootloop
What your build ?
If this phone with OREO or with NOUGAT / Android 8.x or 7.x ?
Possibly didn't work because the rom was of a different built. I've an ANE-AL00 8.0.0.131. Any solutions for this fix? Thanks.

Yes. I flashed same file only. But not booting up. In DC, it says file writing complete when in fastboot mode. But in upgrade mode, it fails at 5/31 PACKAGE_TYPE.
I'm using update.app from update.zip. Is that what I should be using? Should I use the other zip files(cn, public etc.)? Please help.

@Arseon
you write "ANE-AL00 8.0.0.131" - this is not the "full" build : what's your Cxxx ?
on FirmwareFinder i see (example)ANE-AL00C00B133 ( C00 = Country '00'; B133 = Build Counter )
you need the correctly build from your phone !!!
you can boot to bootloader ?
your bootloader is unlockt ?
your FRP is unlock ?
you have download your build FULL-Update ?
you have with UpdateExtractor from Update.app (inside Update.zip)
- ramdisk.img
- recovery_ramdisk.img
- system.img
extracted ? The Extractor do automatic for all *.img a *.img.header.
you have copy this 6 files to your ADB-Folder ?
If this all "YES" then boot to bootloader and
- fastboot flash ramdisk ramdisk.img
- fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdis.img
- fastboot flash system system.img
reboot phone, phone start to eRecovery and Low-Level format "data" and boot to system.
phone start as "new" phone (initial settings)
good : phone work
no good : all data is lost
AND very important : do not relock the bootloader !
ONLY if bootloader 'unlockt' you can self-repair !

i think, you can no self-repair - sorry
@Arseon, my opinion your system partition is a mess due to xposed installation fail.
The solution for this case is restore system partition, it worked for me in the past.
In some cases we can get lucky install a clean system partition even if it is from other region code, because the main differences between regions are located in the other partitions
But what I learning is that system from C00 region don’t follow this standard because at least is missing google apps.
With DCPheonix did with get lucky and flash all files or just the first 4 and stop in the PACKAGE_TYPE?
same situation
I am in the same situation, can only boot to erecovery. I tried boot fastboot flash 4 files (because i have bootloader and frp unlocked) and dc-unlocker without luck. In both cases pass the flash but phone still not boot, only erecovery. I can get twrp works now following this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...covery-twrp-3-2-1-0-p20-lite-edition-t3800692 but i dont have backups because i do a factory reset and the internal storage is empty. What can i do in twrp? Any other suggestion?
Edit: I can solve my problem. When I connect my phone in fastboot mode to dc-unlocker it give me an info:

and with the firmware info I download that version exactly (ANE-LX3 8.0.0.104(C605, found on easy-firmware web page, paid), flash with dc-phoenix, and i got it, the device boots again. Hope it help to anyone, thks. This thing cost me 28 usd, too expensive for unroot a device lol

In pretty sure you are flashing the wrong firmware, try to push your version with dc-unlocker in fastboot and download the excatly matching firmware. Good luck
well, i have all of this+one more tougher stuff..
Well, I tried to install a custom ROM on my P20 Lite (ane-lx1) via TWRP aand when I failed I ended up into a bootloop, but the thing that got me a headache after a full day of forum research is that when I attempted to install the custom ROM the TWRP wanted a .img file, not a .zip file, so I rebooted after I alreday wiped out everything, I made a backup into the phone, BUT I cant access it because.. the TWRP freezes every time at the TeamWin logo.....the only thing that is accessible now its the fastboot&rescue mode and I'm out of juice and desperated...the bootloader is enabled...i think i preety much killed my phoen and my brain trying to get an android stock experience...i really have to get some sleep,well..thank you for your attention, if you have any suggestions that would pick me up from this mess I would be very greatfull, i'll see what i had left to do as soon as i'm able to...for now, have a good night/day/afternoon, whatever side of the world you're from
Edit:
I left the phone all night into bootloobing and after it got FULLY discharged, I dont know exactly how but the TWRP hasn't popped out, instead after this I was able to get into eRecovery and now it is downloading the 146(C432) version. I guess that I got lucky
Hey Guys!
Is there any custom ROMs that work with the Honor 7A for android pie? I have searched a lot and have found viruses or just plain ads, none of which work. Should I just wait for Honor/Huawei and see if they update it or should I use any available custom ROMs? Would be very grateful if anyone was to create a ROM for this cause as well!
Thanks for any replies
Huawei phones that came out from 2017 till present have locked boot loader, that means you cannot install any kind of ROM. There's lots of "tip/tricks" how to bypass it but in 60% if a script kiddy built the boot loader unlocker you will kill you're phone with unscrewable consequences, not worth it... Anyways why do you need a custom ROM?

If you have a rooted JSN-L21 with TWRP installed can you please take a moment and upload an oeminfo dump? It will help the community. Thanks in advance!
I send mine to DC, it should come soon on DC tools.

Hello, could you please shed more information regarding oeminfo binary method? I read something similar recently here https://www.getdroidtips.com/debrand-the-retail-model-of-huawei-p20-pro/ (P20 Pro debrand), in there this following command caught my attention:
Code:
./oeminfo CLT-L29 C432 hw/eu
It appears to me that oeminfo is an executable, that is, an ARM ELF64 binary file? Up to this point I thought oeminfo is just a partition containing a filesystem with some sort of OEM related files/folders. It is unclear to me where the oeminfo binary can be obtained. Looking forward hearing more from you. How would I get started on Honor 8x?

Interesting, I tried the above ./oeminfo command and it did rebrand my chinese Honor 8x to JSN-L21, however after a reboot it would bootloop, the phone booted up again after wiping data/caches but the OS was way different now, almost all chinese apps are gone except the 2 "Video - Youku" and "Vmall", also interestingly the build number in Settings now shows "Chipset-miamiC20 8.2.0.001(01Y2).
I ran into an issue, somewhere along the steps I overwrote my TWRP recovery with stock RECOVERY_RAMDIS.IMG because I wanted to try doing wifi restore from eRecovery thinking it would complete the rebrand for me and do a full/proper restore to JSN-L21 now that my Oeminfo has been changed to JSN-L21. eRecovery fails to restore via wifi. My fastboot is showing FRP Lock , I cannot flash TWRP. "Enable OEM unlock" option is greyed out in "Developers options". Previously before running ./oeminfo on my AL00a OEM unlock option wasn't even there. Hi Suite doesn't work. Nothing works, I cannot get past FRP lock.
Code:
fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
(bootloader) Necessary to unlock FRP!
(bootloader) Navigate to Developer options, and enable "OEM unlock"!
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
I have tried DC_Phoenix and DC Unlocker but they do not support Honor 8x yet.
Is there a place to purchase FRP unlock key? I might give up on this phone and sell it at loss, maybe someone will buy it for $100 in the state it is now, it has been pain so far, I already wasted money buying expensive bootloader unlock key, I'm coming from Nexus 5, things were so easy back then, OEM unlock and root were supported out of the box, no bullsh*t.
Rebranding your device while keeping the firmware from previous region was asking for troubles...
You should have used the oeminfo binary, while with a nocheck-recovery, and straigh after the oeminfo rebrand, then you should have hwota flashed a firmware from the region you rebranded to...
About your oem-frp option greyed out, staying online for a bit should have un-greyed it in a normal situation.
From there you could:
-use oeminfo binary to rebrand back to original. Then you could do a proper rebrand.
Or
-use a working dload archive for the region you rebranded your device to.
Hey @oslo83, thanks for your input!
I could never get dload method to work, I have tried creating 'dload' folder in root of internal storage and also on the external sd card, I tried it in 2 ways:
/dload/UPDATE.APP

Click to collapse
and
/dload/update_sd.zip
/dload/JSN-L21_hw_eu/update_sd_JSN-L21_hw_eu.zip

I would then hold Vol-down + Vol-up, but I would always get "Software install failed"
HWOTA is a new thing to me, I wasn't aware something like this exists, I will try to research it. Also good to hear that there's a chance for oem-frp to get un-greyed when staying online for some time, do you know if working SIM card is needed or is WiFi connection enough?
Hello! I'm reading through the thread but apparently I'm not as tech-savvy as I thought lol because I'm not understanding.
Could someone PLEASE make a short step-by-step guide on how to rebrand from JSN-AL00a to JSN-L21d? I'm desperate
My phone is bricked, I screwed up (I can't get around FRP Lock even after purchasing FRP Unlock Key)
Rebrand should be easy:
1. Buy bootloader unlock key, reboot to fastboot and issue: fastboot oem unlock XXXXXXXX
2. Flash the TWRP: fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp-kirin.img You will need an OTG USB adapter and mouse, there's no touchpad UI support in kirin TWRP yet

If you're looking for how to unbrick the phone that received May 2023 Security Update, you've come to the right place.
You have two options to unbrick your Nokia 8.3
If you prefer not to unlock the bootloader, visit here:
[GUIDE] How to Unbrick Nokia 8.3 affected by May 2023 Security Patch
As I mentioned before, unlocking the bootloader will fix this issue. But if you don't want to unlock the bootloader, then this guide is for you. DO NOT USE THIS METHOD IF JUNE 2023 OR NEWER UPDATE RELEASES IN FUTURE! YOU SHOULD NOT IGNORE...
forum.xda-developers.com
Or if you don't mind unlocking the bootloader, do these steps before you proceed to bootloader unlock:
1. Use volume key to select "Recovery mode", power key to enter.
2. When you see android robot lying on the ground, hold power key and press volume up key once. Then you'll get recovery screen.
3. Download this package: https://android.googleapis.com/packages/ota-api/package/627142c637bf373410e6b8911aeb9b2e65bd5969.zip
4. Select Apply Update from ADB, then sideload it with adb command.
5. Once the sideload procedure finishes, select "reboot to bootloader", then follow this guide to unlock the bootloader.
Existing Android 10 builds has a critical problem, that allowed us to flash or erase any bootloader partition even if the bootloader is not unlocked. However, Android 11 builds blocked this method, but there's a known workaround for this.
Therefore, I think it's time to disclose the unlock method now. It's known working on both TA-1243 and TA-1251.
The critical part for unlocking the bootloader is - the prototype bootloader of this phone. By opportunity, I got the early bootloader from a prototype unit that allows us to unlock the bootloader, thanks to the help of a Canadian people who claimed to have a Nokia 8.3 prototype himself.
Click this for Android 11 or Android 12 users
Your warranty will be void as bootloader unlock is not reverseable - you cannot relock it. Prototype ABL for normal Nokia 8.3 and 8V 5G UW are not interchangeable, flashing wrong ABL image will cause your phone hard brick.
To use this method, you need to ensure your phone has Android 10 installed - the latest build that we can use this method is 00WW_1_150-B01, you can confirm this by dialing *#*#7837#*#*.
If your phone has Android 11 installed (00WW_2_180-B01 or newer), then this bootloader unlock method has been blocked, but there's known workaround for this. Check 2nd reply for details.
UPDATE: Russian version Nokia 8.3 5G cannot be downgraded yet. If you're using Russian version Nokia 8.3 5G (Software version has RU tag), use EDL method for bootloader unlock.
Please download the prototype bootloader from here:
Click here for Nokia 8.3 5G (BGT TA-1243/1251)
Click here for Nokia 8V 5G UW (RAV TA-1257)
If you see Error code 00000101 during download - please use industrial standard web browser to download it, like Google Chrome.

Nokia 8V 5G UW: C3CEDC3A4612C85DD70EEDFA8ABA75621D579CEA62BB9A8D805DD4E9C542A6F0
(For Nokia 8.3 5G only), flash it under fastboot mode, and unlock the bootloader - pretty simple:
Code:
fastboot flash abl BGT-abl.elf
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot oem unlock-go
Confirm unlock on your phone and it's all done. You can safely update the phone to Android 11 right after unlocked. Since we cannot perform critical unlock properly, we can only do regular unlock, but this should be enough.
Video demonstration:
For Nokia 8V 5G UW only:
1. Ask someone who has access of HDK to grant service permission for you.
2. Execute these commands (please download frp_oemunlock.img from https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...rom-nokia-xr20-for-bootloader-unlock.4455845/ ):
Code:
fastboot flash abl RAV-abl.elf
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash frp frp_oemunlock.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flashing unlock_critical
(confirm unlock)
fastboot flashing unlock
(confirm unlock)
Have fun for modding this device!
If you don't mind take apart your phone, you can use EDL method - but you know doing so will definitely void the warranty, and the stubborn triple-color company could remove these pads in later batches.
Firehose programmer for this phone is attached here.
Since we didn't grab downgrade OTA package for Russian variant, they cannot pass full OTA package verification and has to use EDL method for downgrading ABL. Thanks to Russian users for providing info.
In case Android 12 update from future cannot be downgraded, you'll have to use EDL method as well.
Example of using edl.py from bkerler (https://github.com/bkerler/edl):
Code:
edl.py w abl_a abl_proto_e253b67f.elf --memory=ufs --loader=prog_firehose_ddr.elf
edl.py w abl_b abl_proto_e253b67f.elf --memory=ufs --loader=prog_firehose_ddr.elf
edl.py reset
Keep in mind doing so will 100% void your warranty, and you cannot relock the bootloader.
For archiving purposes:
00WW_1_150-B01 full OTA zip: https://android.googleapis.com/packages/ota-api/package/627142c637bf373410e6b8911aeb9b2e65bd5969.zip
00WW_2_180-B01 full OTA zip: https://android.googleapis.com/packages/ota-api/package/12a35835cf4034f539ae7d03ffecd0682bef1b66.zip
You can use them for OS rooting.
Also after @jnappert 's testing, the workaround works great.
1. Sideload 00WW_1_150-B01 OTA package under recovery. You may see downgrade not allowed prompt but it will install anyway.
2. Reboot to bootloader under recovery mode. Although Anti-Rollback protection is triggered, the abl is not protected and is now downgraded to vulnerable build.
3. You can now follow the guide to unlock the bootloader.
I hope this will help everybody to bring up custom rom development for this phone.

Does that mean that they forgot to blow eFUSE of secure boot in this model? On a different device, once I flashed tampered ABL image after unlocking (and unlock_critical) the blootloader, XBL refuses to load ABL because of tampering. It hard bricked the device, but EDL mode was working.
It could be that ABL_proto image that you extracted might be signed by the OEM.

It's signed by OEM - you can compare it yourself.
In demonstration video, the secure boot is already enabled as you can see.
Can anybody tell does it pass CTS with Magisk hide?

It will pass - at least that's the situation on 00WW_1_150-B01.
Now I have mine turn off to avoid further update.
I was unaware and it went up to 11, so I have to use different bootloader to root.

If bootloader unlocked, it will be safe to update to Android 11.
Hello everybody. I was minding: because i've upgraded my nokia 8.3, is it possibile to roll back to android 10, unlock bootloader and install superSU?
I tried downgrading to Android 10 yesterday und sucessfully unlocked bootloader (which deletes user-data). Then the OTA Update to 00WW_2_200 installed without problem.

can you please type here the steps you've made to downgrade your phone?
For Nokia 8 V 5G UW users:
I suspect devices with 00VPO_1_260-B01 or older should be vulnerable, but I think many users should have the phone updated to 00VPO_1_280-B01 already.
Need further investigation whenever I got firmware.
I tried to downgrade mine from Android 11 to 10. Anyways, when i sideload the "update", the recovery text "downgrade not allowed". When it finishes the install, my phone just boot in fastboot mode and the only way to get it back is to install the Android 11 update. Still waiting any tips to downgrade

I downgraded from 00WW_2_180 to 00WW_1_150-B01:
- installed adb and drivers
- enabled USB Debug
- bootet to stock recovery: "adb reboot recovery"
- in recovery "apply update from adb"
- adb sideload 00WW_1_150-B01 from post #3
- rebootet to fastboot and continued with steps from post #1 to unlock bootloader
- after reboot device updated directly to 00WW-2_200
Now i am looking for working custom recovery...

Thanks for sharing the tip. But apparently the triple-color company will block this

Looks like it already happened, 'cause mine says "downgrade not allowed" gonna try again friday. I'll update you
I was lucky enough to get this phone from bh photos as shelf stock and it shipped with android 10. They are currently on sale there for $320. I installed and unlocked bootloader. I may get a pixel as a backup so id be willing to test recovery, roms etc...when someone comes up with something. Ive been out of the Android scene for a while and im curious if root is possible at this time or if that would require 3rd party recovery and/or a kernel
A little update
Bootloader unlocked
This time is a bit tricky
I tried to enter recovery and got "no command". Press volume up + power together every 2 seconds and I got actual recovery
Tried update from SD...no go
Tried update from adb... downgrade is not allowed
Somehow I went to fastbootd and nothing worked
I chose bootloader and this time elf file from post 1 worked (it didn't work when I enter bootloader normal way)
Now I have to find out where I can get boot to patch

You can extract boot image from OTA package via payload dumper.
Hello I have an ANE-LX3, my problem is the following: I have been trying to unlock the bootloader of my huawei p20 lite with HCU for two weeks but it tells me that the security patch is very new. What I did was download MRT FLASHING TOOL and an UPDATE.APP with System 8.0.0.046 (092Y) and everything was fine, I was able to unlock the bootloader, until I noticed that I no longer receive OTA updates
thanks

IMO you have wrong Model and incomplete FW on board. I bet your build number is "system 0.0.046" and Model - unknown .
I don't know where you got this tutorial to unlock the bootloader, but for Kirin-devices it is not a good idea.
IMO you can try the following :
A) update via eRecovery & wi-fi
B) install Service ROM using dload method for your current EMUI version and region (but it will lock your BL again ! )
C) if you are still running EMUI 8, try update your phone via fastboot - flash cust.img, ramdisk.img , recovery_ramdisk.img and system.img ( extract the required files from Service ROM using Huawei Update Extractor).
