Battery calibration - Moto Z Questions & Answers

There is a way to calibrate the battery without root? Or only using ADB?
My battery is very weird, sometimes the phone turn off 30% and don't turn on again
If i fully recharges it powers off and turn on, the battery will be 50% for example
I already tried to hard reset a couple of times but still the same
I'm using Android Oreo OPL27.76-51
Moto z XT1650-03

I've recently bought a lg g2 and after 1 month I encountered this problem. When i plug in the charger the battery level stays the same, I have to reboot the phone to display the correct percentage. While using it, the percentage doesn't modify untill I turn the screen off and let it for a time.I 've downgraded to 4.2.2 and it keeps happening. Solutions?
Calibrating the Battery may fix it

Crazy Battery Behavior - please advise

Hi,
Using the C5 Ultra Dual for the last couple of days - this is the E5533 Dual french variant (original firmware as the french variant is one of the few which didn't get the latest firmware update).
Before using the phone I performed full factory reset to be on the safe side.
However, I ran into a very strange battery performance - I fully charged the C5 to 100% (SLOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) - This is a thing everyone complains about and even using LG G3 1.8A charger does not speed things up - I used a USB charging meter and is shows that the actual charging current is a poor 0.65A which explains this slow charge rate. I do not have the supplied sony 850mAH charger so I can't tell what this charger is doing.
My issue is different - After disconnecting the charger at 100% battery started draining at a very alarming rate - overnight 8 hours it lost 15% in stamina mode (Wifi On - all other functions OFF - BT/GPS).
Then used the phone - battery didn't hold well, went down to %65 with minimal use but here comes the surprise - had to restart the phone - after restart phone battery went UP to 91% !!!
Again used the phone down to 70% - restarted the phone and it went up after restart to 85% !!!
I know i need to try 2 things:
1. Wipe Cache (how do you do this for the C5?)
2. Recalibrate Battery - long process
Tell me what you think
Appreciate your help
I think factory rest would help

Factory Reset did not help - charge went from 14% suddenly to 40% and then phone shutdown after 10 minutes of use with battery drained (cannot power on phone until I charge it).
Just went with Software Repair using PCC - will report how things are after it
Have you tried draining it to 0% and then do an offline charging to 100%.
FYI, offline charging is plugging in the charger while the phone is off, remember not to turn it on until 100%.

I guess you can just download xposed and there's an app call battery cealibrate and its easy you just hit the button and job in done or you can boot into recovery and you will see the wipe Cache think
Maybe things started to get fu*ked up when ou used that 1.8a charger. I may be wrong but Oems have plenty of reasons why they only provide certain chargers.
How to boot into recovery in order to wipe cache ?

Lol, download Xposed? That requires root access and so do most battery calibration apps.
Unfortunately, root access is not yet available for our beloved Sony Xperia C5 Ultra...
i saw some methods that you can actually calibrate battery without root. It is a long time to do it like you have to charge and decharge it like 3 times. But i forgot how to do it and it was in a Turkish Forum. I remember it said that most of the conpanies adjust battery calibration to %90 rather than %100. So you should give it a try
Actually it is avalible just doenload kingoroot on your Pc or laptop and connect your phonr but afyer you enable usb debug and it eill root you Device
( tested by some other users and ut works!)

Which version you are referring to? As the 29.0.B.1.55 version cannot be root due to vulnerability has been fix by Sony.. But I haven't try the 29.0.B.0.161 version

Flashed my Xperia X on low battery

Hi guys, I made the silly mistake of flashing my Xperia X on low battery as I wanted stock firmware on it. Everything works greatsexcept the charging aspect of things. It only charges up to 50% while the phone is on and it just stops charging after that, however If I completely switch off the phone and start charging it will charge all the way to 100%. I cant always switch off my phone to charge to get a full charge, I have tried to re-install the same firmware on a full charge but no change. Anyone know how I can fix this so I can charge 100% without having to turn it off completely. Have also tried all sorts of charger etc, same result. . Please help
Hava you tried draining the battery completely and then charging it to 100% before turning it on, then draining it completely again before charging once more? It may just need a full battery cycle.
It sounds to me that you wiped the "QNOVO" box when you flashed. I had read that you never have to wipe that, as you will delete the battery configuration unique to each device.
Try to restore it using Xperia Companion.

Yes, I have tried that, still no luck, very strange that it charges fully when off, but not when its on

Always make a backup first.

Battery calibration is a way off. What are my options?

So I have this annoying problem that my G5 turns itself off when the percent of charge left is somewhere between 15 and 20 percent. I'm not completely sure that it affects amount of time it could operate from the full charge but at least it leads to the following problems:
1) Battery saver is never triggered so losing the ability to use the phone is always abrupt.
2) Battery usage statistics/ time left on battery predictions seem to be totally incorrect.
I've googled and found some ways to calibrate battery without rooting the phone but it seems like they always feature charging the phone while it's turned off and somehow (maybe due to newer android) G5 always turns itself on when connected to charger for me. All the apps for battery calibration seems to do nothing.
So my question is - is there any way to fix this without going to LG tech support/ rooting the phone? May factory reset help in this case perhaps?
Same issue

I second this I got 3 batteries and the cradle 1 never charges to 100% but seems to last longer than the 2 that do charge 100%
I think the cradle and charging throws the calibration way off then think you run 1 batt down till shutdown slap a new one in so the device never gets a charge discharge calibration

Phone turns off and says 0% battery despite being charged

I need some help figuring out what's wrong with my mom's Moto E. I have Lineage OS 14.1 as a custom rom, but the problem is as she uses the phone it says low battery and it turns off despite being fully charged.. she has to wait a coulpe of minutes and then turn it on again.. it's really annoying.. she has to have the phone plugged in order to use it or it will power off
Is the battery damaged or it coul be the ROM?

This happened with my moto e also. I charge my phone to 100% and when battery reaches 94% it shows low battery 0% , and power off. I replaced my battery with a new one from ebay. Now I get one day battery backup.
You can first try to flash another ROM to make sure that the current ROM is good. If there is nothing wrong with the ROM then replacing the battery is your best bet.
