Battery not getting full! stuck at 94% - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi guys, I just bought this device and when I charged it for the first time, the battery didn't go above 94%. I tried the following things already:-
1. Downloaded a battery stats app, it showed full on 94%
2. Turned it off and waited for it to get 100, still stuck at 94%
3. Downloaded Ampere apps and found out that it stops taking in volts after 94%
4. Tried non-root calibration apps.
None of these worked until now. Is anyone else also facing this issue? Please give further ideas to help me fixing it.
And if anyone is aware, please tell me if it could be a defective piece (hardware issue).
Thank you very much!

Im also facing this issue.

which rom?

in this topic, a user explained how they resolved this issue
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5/help/help-96-battery-t3786838

I had no issue until i installed crdroid 8.1 rom and the battery stuck at 99% and starts discharging, sxitched back to stock miui and the issue is still there, what i did is battery calibration (root methode) and since it's ok

Battery Life

Been using the g tab since December and have always been impressed by its battery life. Only issue was the battery meter never seems to reflect the true battery level. I had times when it just shut off without warning with the battery meter at 100% while other times, it drained rapidly to 0% within 20 minutes.
I know the general fix is to delete battery stats with recovery (which i have been doing frequently) but that still doesn't quite solve the problem. As such, i decided to test the exact battery life of the tablet. I am quite shocked at just how good it is o.0.
I've had a (1hr 17 mins) video looping with wifi on and connected for exactly 9 hours now as i am typing this. The battery meter still reads 100% but i think it will turn off/drain rapidly soon.
I am on TNT Lite 3.1.4 btw (old but gold).
Update: Tablet just shut off after 10h and 56 minutes on video loop + wifi. Video was stored on tablet memory.
Issue: Battery meter never drained and was 100% till death (i plugged in and rebooted and it read 100%). I had just wiped battery stats before doing this experimental run. Any suggestions to deal with the battery meter issue?
I had a similar problem with another tablet after wiping the battery stats and still don't know if that was the issue or not. From my recollection, you were supposed to discharge the tablet completely and then delete the battery stats (or was it charge it completely?). Is it possible you deleted it in the wrong state, so it thinks an empty battery is full? I always wonder if I might find a similar fix for the other tablet or if the charging hardware simply failed (not a gTablet -- a flytouch2 type device).

From what I've read about calibrating the battery on other devices (specifically in the EVO forums), you're supposed to charge it until it's full, immediately wipe the battery stats, run it until it's dead without turning it off at any point, then charge it until it's full with the device off. Turn the device on and it should be properly calibrated. I'm not sure if this will fix your problem, but it's worth a try.
If that doesn't work, you could try flashing a different ROM and see if the problem persists (backup everything in clockworkmod first, so you don't lose anything if you want to go back to that ROM). If the problem goes away, it's probably an issue with TNT Lite 3.1.4. If the problem persists, it's probably an issue specific to your gTab.
Thanks guys. Ill give it a go.

I've been having an issue where my battery show that it is discharging but then it abruptly shuts down when it hits ~50%. No warning of low battery voltage.
I'll try this calibration and report back with results.
Update...8 months on.
My G tablet is now running Flashback 10.3 (finally HC is stable enough).
Battery still does not reflect drain, stuck at 100% every time. (i've been told its a kernel issue)
On Flashback 10.3: Looping a youtube video (1hr 14 mins) with HD on, sound off, wifi on, brightness set to automatic in a dark room. Tablet died after 9hrs 21mins.
This is 1.5 hours shorter than the result i obtained when i looped a internal storage video, wifi on, brightness automatic, sound off 8 months back on TNT 3.1.4 (froyo).
I'm pretty impressed given the 3700mAh in our device (compared to most 5000mAh tablets). Anyone done any tests? Do share.

Battery problem

Hey dev's! I hope you have the solution to this... but maybe the problem is my battery is dead... :S
3 days ago I installed Cyanocomb, and everything worked right (after clean installation and wiping all the data and stats, including battery stats) but the problem is, when i put the carger at night, next morning the battery was completeley empty! (and I was near to arrive late at work because of the alarm )
I investigated, and saw that when the battery reached the 100%, it doesn't stay between 95%-100%, It only stops charging and drains very quickly.
I changed the Rom recently to Cyanogen Froyo CM6 6.01 and.... It still drains. Maybe I killed my battery? Maybe it's a callibration problem? (I deleted battery stats and used the battery callibration app, but it stil drains...)
Yeah, I know, It sounds bad for my old battery
Thanks for all the advices!!!
Try repairing your phone via seus and see how your battery is on the stock rom

After clean install of the CM6 ROM again, and callibrating the battery 3 times, It seems to work nice again... I hope I'll not arrive late again because of the alarm! XD Thanks pal!
How did you calibrate it??? I´m with a similar issue so i would like to know the process, I was looking for some information and I found this but I'm not sure if it will work on mini pro :S

Cwm advance setting wipe batery stats
After a week, yesterday the same problem again... The battery stopped charging, when I unplug the carger and plug again, It seems to charge 5% more, but a minute later it begins to drain again...
I tried to calibrate (I'm currently using Battery Calibrator form market), but after wiping stats and let it full drain, It needs a lot of time (red light blinking) until I can connect it, but after that it charges only 5-10% and begin to drain again.
I came back to stock ROM, and It is charging again!!! But why with a custom ROM am I experiencing this problem? (CM6 6.01)
Hmm, thats really interesting! I "caught" this issue too lol
Yesterday I installed cyanocomb 1.4 and before I went sleep the battery was on 50%.
After I woke up (~10 hours), the battery totally died. This is surprised me. I put the phone to charge (not from USB), and thats charged fully. Okay, I thought I let it charge a bit more and I will make a battery stat wipe. But after a while, I checked it again, and the battery was on 89% WTF?!
Please, forget this, now my phone is being repaired, it was a hardware problem (I guess is the USB connector)
When the support work is done, I will tell you the conclusions.
Ok, now the phone is repaired, and the problem was the USB connector. No software problem.
Problem solved, theme closed.

battery drain instantly after 50%

Hi
I have a galaxy tab 10.1 3G version it was working ok until I faced this problem
The problem is that the battery works fine until it reaches 50% it drops to 3% instantly !!!!
I tried changing the Rom but no change. Also I wiped battery status after charging the battery fully but nothing happened .
Has any one faced this problem or know the solution?
Thanks in advance
I have that same problem. If you actually searched in google, it is because the battery is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.
use battery calibration app from playstore.......it should solve ur problem .....if not then definitely bad battery
no other options
cheers
HIT THANKS BUTTON IF I HAVE HELPED
Ok, so i had this problem also.
What worked for me was disconnecting the battery for approx 1 hour.
Re-connected, fully charged, no hassles any more.
Edit: Tried calibration apps previously, they didn't help.

[Q] Severe battery trouble

Hi There:
Not sure if anyone is exprience this problem.
My battery completly drains a second after it says is at 40%.
I've installed several ROMS (Cianogenmod 10, toldo's, official) to see if it was a ROM problem. No luck. I'm current in toldos's v7
Installed several Kernels, No luck. Actually i'm with A1 kernel
Tried several battery calibration aplicacions apps. No luck.
Problem presists.
It`s not that the battery drains fast, is that everything goes oK till battery reaches a point below 40% and the next second it says it only has 2% or 1% and can stay there for some time (even two hours sometimes.
Anyone has any idea what could be happening, because i don't think is a battery problem.
Thanks evey one
fault battery
probably the battery is gonna die

[Q] Help me to resolve this battey problem.

I got my motherboard changed a few days ago by samsung. Now i am facing a problem with my battery stats. My phone shows only 15% battery even if it is fully charged [Shows 100% after fully charged, but as soon as I remove the charger it again shows 15%] and when i use my phone it drains normally but problem is that after decreasing battery by 15% it automatically switch off.
When I restart the phone, it again shows 15% battery. so this cycle keeps going on till the battery fully drains.
This is the weirdest problem I have seen.
So any one who can help me please give your valuable time to resolve this type of problem.
Thank you.
P.S. I've tried factory reset, Battery calibration, and even flashed the stock rom again via odin.

The problem is with the board, you cant always assure the quality of the board the fix and its compatibility, if u are under warranty, service centre is the best option, first report this issue to samsung and then directly go to service centre and talk with the centre manager, not the mudheads on the reception.
