Camera not working on ROM update - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Please help. This happens whever I update from any Oreo ROMs i tried to use (aex, nos, omni, los) . Whenever I flash newer builds the camera hw disappears in the rom. AIDA64 shows no camera hw and all camera apps wont work. I don't have encryption enabled and I am using nano gapps. It's making me crazy that I always had to clean flash every new builds. I just revert back to previous build to restore back the camera.

I have same problem.. only working on Pixel Experience (xx.02.2018)

[Q] Back Camera Hangs

Back camera hangs most of the time; it works sometimes but most of the time it freezes and FC itself saying "Unfortunately, Camera has stopped." Front camera always works fine.
The back camera wont FC itself all the time, sometimes it just stays black (with all the buttons and interface working), and sometimes it stays with a freezed image of what the camera sees (also with the interface ok).
I've tried full wipes, I've flashed different roms, with different kernels; cleaned the camera's cache and data; tried the "Restart Camera" solution/workaround; I've even tried to "tap the camera hard" as some people has suggested.
What I haven't done is flashing stock rom, since I consider it won't be of any help (But if you advise me to, I'll do it). And I haven't tried Roms that are not 4.4.4
I'm currently using AICP Rom (4.4.4)
Sorry for any typo.

Hi, thanks for replying. I've lost count of how many, but as I remember, they all were KK Custom Roms, the ones I remember I've tried are AOKP, CM11, and AICP.
It started since... I don't even remember, it has been so long, I just hadn't been able to try to fix it, untill now.
I flashed the stock JB ROM and it fixed it. So I thought that there were corrupted files and since I have them now, I was going to work again if I flashed the AICP ROM back... but nope, it has the same issue.
I'll flash a JB Custom Rom (Probably CM10.2) to see what happens.
Update: I flashed a JB Custom Rom (Fusion Rom) and the camera is working good so far.
But still not working in KK.

OPX Snapchat Phone Reboot 5.1.1 [LOG LINKS]

Okay i need some help. Snapchat and other camera processes are causing my phone to freeze and reboot.
Device info:
Oneplus 2 64GBHDD 4GBRAM
64bit
Rooted with TWRP recovery
Cyanogenmod 12.1 (bug is also present in stock and produces the same results)
Cyanogenmod kernel (also present on stock kernel and produces same results)
Android 5.1.1
My problem is when i open snapchat (on custom roms any app that uses the camera) the phone instantly begins to lag and eventually reboots or the screen goes black and i have to manually reboot by holding the power button. Using the flashlight also causes this problem sometimes.
This bug only seems to be present with snapchat on stock, and all camera or flash related apps on custom roms.

Troubleshooting ive tried
Clearing App Data
Reinstalling the app
Factory Reset
Stock Rom
Custom Roms
Formatting and re-flashing all partitions except recovery and boot
disabling flash
older snapchat updates
older android updates
Various radio states
Various background app combinations
The problem seems to definitely be with the camera handeler, but i dont really know where to go from here. Does anybody have a hint to get me going the right way?
Thanks guys!

S3 Camera i9300

I firstly installed cyangoenmod 12.1 after the camera has stopped working bug i installed cm camera fix from google play but that didn't worked and the camera that sometimes worked had now completely stopped. Now i flashed stock rom and the camera started working but when i flashed cm again it stopped again after sometime then i flashed back to stock but this time it didn't work some times it would say "Unknown error occured" or sometimes the errorcallback error. Now when i flashed MIUI the camera worked but after a snap it stopped and crashed and when i launched it again it sayed camera not responding. Please help me
1. It's probably caused by various hardware. In the worst case you've to go back to any JB-TW based ROM.
2. The fixes mostly work as follows: flash ROM, start camera once and take a photo, return to recovery and flash fix.
3. Try this camera, suitable till LP.

Which fix can you provide the link?
@twitwimp: there's no witchy fix. Take the one, advised&made for the ROM, you use.
@twitwimp: for CM13-based ROMs I found this fix. Worth to try.

What ROM to use?

I wanted to root my phone but deleted the original stock Rom. I searched the Internet for a stock ROM but could not find one so I just use a custom one.
I tried to Flash "Unofficial LineageOS 16.0" to my phone but It kepps stuck on a bootloop.
After that I found "Rom Ressurection Remix" and I did Flash it on my phone and it worked.. kinda… The camera didnt work so I read the thread and found that flashing lineageos 15.1 first and then RRR would work so I did this.
Now the phone works but what doesnt work:
Still no camera
Flashlight doesnt work
Youtube shows only black video boxes
No timer? (Maybe not in this rom)
Sometimes the keyboard gets stuck for a moment
Screen rotation doesnt work
So now I want to now which ROM can I try? I only want to have a rooted phone and Android Version 8+. (h850)

Phone runs very hot in official lineage os 17.1

So, I install lineage os every one's and a while to test it and see if it is ok for me, I always revert to stock but that's not the point, one problem that I have is that the phone gets VERY HOT. One day I installed lineage and when I finished the setup process, the phone was so hot I couldn't hold it comfortably, while when I finish the setup on the stock rom the phone is just warm. Is there any way to make the phone run cooler? Is the phone getting hot because the software is too much for the processor? . I haven't installed lineage os for about two months now so I may try it again at some point. Is anyone else having the same problem?
No that's not normal, it's not supposed to heat up much.
Maybe you you didnt flash it properly, it's recommended to install it like this.

Also check before flashing if your camera works on the stock lg rom,
If it doesnt you have to downgrade to stock marshmellow, and then upgrade back to oreo to fix it.

Thanks for answering,
This is how I install it. The camera on stock oreo is working normally so I don't need to install stock Marshmallow. So, I firstly unlock the bootloader and then install lineage os 15.1 with no gapps. After that I upgrade to lineage os 16.1 again with no gapps. Now I uninstall lineage 16.1 and I am doing a clean install of official lineage os 17.1 WITH gapps. The reason I do this is because if I install lineage 17.1 instantly the cameras and sensors don't work. Unfortunately I don't remember the temperatures that I got but I remember that one day I woke up with 20 C and after 15 minutes of some web browsing and social media it went up to 40 C (there's a slight chance that I'm wrong since I don't remember the exact temperatures as I said)
Strange i didn't have those problems when flashing properly,
Do you also use nano/pico opengapps?
You could also give crDroid Android 5.12, a try maybe that will work well, but it's android 9 instead of 10.
I think you need to flash it in the same way as lineage.

I originally used nano opengapps but I started using stock because I use most of the gapps anyway but I will try crdroid 5.12 at some point to see what happens.
