can u access phone recovery if yes check ut pm
Question, what phone are you using, and try to remember what rom. Probably on your pc sonewhere... the better you discribe, the better we can help

its 100% safe to flash a rom if u dont screw up , i think u should have researched a bit before flashing and get knowledge about it, dont worry ur phone will be fine if u can access recovery, other than that last option is lg service center, i think

well it seems u had a bad flash if u have recovery installed than try a custom rom .
Boot into recovery.
go to backup and restore -create a backup of your current rom (Note:If already backup has been done then avoid this step, backup created using amonra or thunderg wont support restoring using clockwork)
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
wipe dalvik cache
mount and storage-format system
go to mount and storage-format sd card
advanced-partition sd card-choose 512 mb (preferable)or 1024 mb (it automatically creates ext 4 partition, class 6/4 is preferred) optional
mount and storage-mount usb storage (make sure usb debugging is enabled)
copy the rom zip file to the root of your sd card
unmount
install zip from sd card-choose the rom zip and install
flashing takes 3-5 min
reboot!
enjoy ur clean rom try mik 6.5.7 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354
i followed every step there was, now i think it really might be a brick, its stuck on th tmobile stick together msg. i can access recovery but when i hit reboot it gets pass the lg screen then it stops so i'm done with it

Nothing. It's OK, backing up a faulty ROM won't help you anyway.
As long as you can boot into recovery, your phone is not bricked.
You still didn't say anything about the most important part: your phone model.
download miks cm7 6.5.7 put it into yours sd card then follow the steps below
1] reebot into recovery
2] wipe all data, dalvik cache, factory reset data.
3] format system data
4] press on install zip from sd card
5] choose zip file
6] choose miks 6.5.7
7] let it flash will take about 4-5 mins
8] reebot system now it will work
this will work on cmw recovery and twrp recovery dont know about amonra recovery.
NOTE:if u can access your recovery your phone is not bricked.

Yes, it's an P500 branded by T-Mobile. So at least we know you're in the right thread.
Next, what's your custom recovery name? Based on this, someone will be able to guide you step by step trough the options. This info is usually displayed at the very bottom of the screen when you boot in the recovery, e.g. mine says "Build: RA-thunderg-2.2.1.b-GNM".
Hey guys new to rooting and roms, i flashed a rom decided i didn't like it i proceeded to wipe everything. and i mistakenly did a FULL WIPE of the entire phone only thing left standing is TWRP, all my backups are gone no other rom i can flash either. i know its not completely bricked since i still have access to TWRP. I would mount the sd car but it doesn't recognize the the phone and it wants me to format it. im out of ideas, can anyone help me out of this mini crisis of mine?
Can you access your usb mount through TWRP? If so, you can dl Rom from computer to internal memory and flash that way. Hope I said that right

Sounds like you may have to reformat. Mount internal through twrp, reformat and transfer a Rom to flash. If the Rom doesn't have a kernel installer like meanrom, fastboot flash the kernel

You might want to set TWRP to save your backups to the ext sdcard. Default is internal

Hi All,
For some reason I am unable to format sd card. I still able to flash roms via recovery and odin but internal storage remains the same. Any Ideas>

huh?
Dude be more descriptive, how are you trying to format, how is it not letting you, what does it say?
when installing new rom, i try doing full wipe and it says cant mount external storage then skips the format part. Same with odin, usually when i flash a stock rom with odin it always wipes storage but it doesnt no more. Not causing problems at moment, just thought it may cause potential problems when flashing roms in future

if you are using custom recovery, go in to mount & storage then format the sdcard.
This is what I am getting
Can't mount /dev/block/mmcb1k1p1
Hi,
im quite new to rooting and custom roms.
I have rooted (ALLINONE) my device with the S3 ToolKit (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488)
My device had stock rom and was encrypted. I performed a factory reset from the stock rom (after a nandroid backup from the toolkit.
But the phone failed and booted into TWRP. When i try to wipe Dalvik Cache it sais failed..
I get "cannot mount internal storage" in the logs.
What sould i do?
I want to install the Paranoid Android ROM. But for now, whatever goes. Is there always an possibility to fix the phone as long as i get into the TWRP menu, or can it be permanently bricked now?
Download mode yes no ???
jje
Yes im am able to open download mode. thanks for your quick reply
Could i try to install a ROM from a external card without wiping dalvik? I was able to wipe "cache", but not factory reset or dalvik. havent tried anything else yet.
To my knowledge, you can only access encrypted data with the instance of the ROM you encrypted it with.
I would expect you'd have to decrypt fully before wiping and flashing.
I may be wrong but there is a chance there's nothing you can do to get the data back :/
Everything possibly needs to be formatted.
I just took "format data" - it worked just to confirm i was on the right track, i tried dalvik again - it worked! OH YES. going forward
Whatever doesnt kill your phone makes you stronger, or something But what should i do now..?

I want to flash the Paranoid Android ROM.
I have downloaded the ROM + gapps from as stated in this link: (remote the [DOT] and replace it with a real dot) tothemobile[DOT]com/install-paranoidandroid-4-2-2-jelly-bean-custom-rom-on-galaxy-s3
but im not sure what steps i should do now. The toolkit dosnt have a feature covering my situation as far as i can see (a formatted phone), since the toolkit want me to boot it as normal to start the flash procedure - if i havent misunderstood this totally

You don't really need the toolkit. Plus, it's really good to learn how to do things manually, in case you get in situations like this.
Sol exactly what state is the phone in?
What recovery has the phone got?
Does the phone now boot?
Is it wiped and internal storage works?
Thanks for your help - really appreciate it
Im not sure how i can describe the phones state more than i have now used "format data" in the TWRP recovery screen, the device is listing in the toolkit and im able to go into download mode. I dont have an external card for the phone now, but if its critical for the ongoing progress, ill get a hold of one.
EDIT:
When i hit "Install" in TWRP i am able to browse the internal memory. I can see:
cache
data
dev
efs
etc
external_sd
extSdCard
preload
proc
res
root
sbin
sdcard
sys
system
tmp

Have a read of the "sticky roll-up thread" in general where there are guides for flashing etc
im not familiar with twrp. usually android sees /extSdCard as your removable sd. But recoveries usually use external_sd for the same location.
Essentially you put the zip on your sd and install via recovery. Have a look through those guides. I cant really help withy your recovery though as i dont know it.
I believe that the case is resloved!
To users experiencing that wipes/factory reset fails on a device that have/had encrypted data, you must "format data" and then mount a SD card with the desired ROM and gapps. If you dont have the option of a external SD - i dont know what you have to do - but im sure the internet do
hello,
As I face some issues with my rom thought to do a fresh start by resetting the data partition via orange fox recovery which bases on twrp and try to flash another rom. but once I wiped the data partition recovery could not decrypt the internal storage data on the next boot. honestly, this issue happens to me several times, and thus thought to start a thread for some helping hands for this issue. if anybody faces this please let me know the solution. thanks
somehow I got the data partition decrypted by re-flashing the same rom

You didn't get it decrypted. It's still encrypted but since you flashed the same rom that was there, the encrypted data partition is readable again. If you try to install a different rom you must FORMAT data partition to decrypt it. Wiping is different from formatting.
Sent from my curtana using XDA Labs
Well Me too faced this with "Curtana"
I forced to use SD card to copy the rom to phone and install it.
( I will test today Pixel experience Recovery to make sure )
Recovery tested:
-Pitch black recovery project
-twrp by mauronofrio
You could have sideloaded the ROM from your computer. No need to use separate SD card for ROM installation and it's also faster.
