Broken Screen - Help (India) - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

I broke my kenzo's screen a few days ago. The service centre will take around ₹3500 while local repair shops will do it in ₹1500.
I can't spend 3000 on a two year old phone. Has anyone gotten a local screen replacement in India?
Any big cons or problems?
Thanks a lot.

Only issue you might face is with the custom roms, touch will have issues but I read few users said custom kernel fixed it. Check comments of kernel thread before going to get local screen replacement.
Here at my location the local screen replacement cost is 1200rs. Got the screen replaced for Redmi Note 4 and never had any issues.
Also, it's totally not worth to get it replaced officially for 3000 cause you can easily get a used one in great condition for 4000-5000 on olx.

I'd say get it done locally and don't go for the official screen. Yes, people are ready to pay ₹3000 for a 16GB Redmi Note 3 on olx, the same amount for a new screen.
Fix the phone and sell it off, as it won't be the same as before.

I am ready to buy the broken phone if you are interested.

yellow tint uk repair turnover time

anyone have any recent experience with sbe? they have my phone for the last week, and there is no sign of them returning it. i spoke to them this morning, but was told the same as i was told last thrusday another 7-10working days, its doing my nut really think about dumping the xperia because of this, cant be doing with another week without a phone.
It's not the reply you want, but mine took about 3 weeks. 1 week from sending it until it finally showed up on their system, a week of 'Awaiting replacement part' until they finally seemed to give in and changed it to 'Phone exchanged'. I got it maybe 4, 5 days later. On the plus side, it was at no cost to me, and I had a functional enough back up phone. Annoyed they didn't just switch it instantly though.
Lol - 3 fixed my screen and posted it back same day. Problem is they broke the illuminated bar and vol down button while they were at it. Sent it back to get those fixed and they did a 'software upgrade', which of course did nothing to fix the hardware issues!
Currently doing battle with them as I'm not interested in sending back for repair after they failed to fix it last time. At a minimum I want a new phone.
sent mine back & got a replacement direct from sony 2 weeks later!
Mine took just under two weeks -
Monday: I confirmed with Sony that they had plenty of parts, so posted phone
Wednesday: showed up as arrived at SBE, status with engineer
Friday evening: status changed to awaiting components
Tuesday: still awaiting components, complained to Sony that they'd told me they had parts which is why I sent it
Wednesday: status changed to exchanged, under testing
Friday: new phone arrived
Only problem I have is I sent them a sim unlocked O2 branded phone, and they sent me back a sim locked one so having to wait for O2 to give me a new unlock code :-(
Si
even when i log into the sbe tracking system nothing comes up. Been onto them yesterday and they said i would have to wait 7-10 working days yet they had my handset last tuesday. phoned sony then up to complain but they said it was out of their control as the engineer was still accessing the device......
I got a placement handset in just under a month. It may have been longer but I called up to find out what the delay was and they sent it the next day.

i sent mine in at the end of april
arrived at the beginning of june
the casing wasn't fitted correctly had to send it back
it arrived a week later
and now its got the yellow tint again :crying:
Few weeks ago I sent it to SBE to fix the issue. I got the phone back just over a week later and did a stress test on the screen, got it quite hot and seemed to be fine! Then I noticed the damage done to the device...
Similar to Rabangus by the look of it. There was a massive scratch out of the Illumination Bar and dents in the volume and camera buttons. My phone was perfect/new condition when I sent it.
Both white casings had been replaced, no idea why. Either they dropped it while repairing it or gave me a refurb phone and replaced the casing (but didn't see the damage to the buttons). The scratch on the bar is almost certainly when they tried to remove the bottom casing in either of these cases.
Its still under investigation but sent the phone off on Friday after they promised a full cosmetic repair job and the case is now 'VIP' (It has priority once they receive it, as they damaged it) Have asked them to ring me once they receive the phone. I know they are waiting for it to arrive as the repair department phoned me on the same Friday asking which colour I have. (They don't have black casing replacement parts, if it helps anyone. Lucky I have a white one)
My advice, check the phone before sending it, take pictures if necessary (not that they were needed for me) you never know!

I will if you tell me how to do it! My phone isn't rooted though, so not sure I would be able to?
If you're with 3, shouldn't you get your phone repaired through them? You run the risk of having your phone vandalised by their repair monkeys like mine was, but there is another thread where it seems Sony are commonly taking over a month to repair phones, whereas 3 mostly seem to take a couple of days...
Emailed their customer service yesterday and got a reply, stating they are waiting on the new yellow tint free screens, and new handset containing this new screen. If the new screen comes first it will be repaired and if the new units come in first it will be a new handset. The way it’s looking it’s going to be another 3 weeks. Not happy, love the phone but hate the customer service, shows a real lack of care on Sony’s part. They knew about the problem, yet its took them three months to properly fix the problem (if they actually have).
To the guys who had a new phone sent out to them, did you guys just get a phone sent out or a phone in a new box and accessories?
Cheers

Just got a phone in a box, no accessories or anything - exactly what I sent them in the first place.
Si
i was without mine for 21 days (although the jubilee weekend didn't help) it was awaiting parts for most of the time.
the bad news is that it's still not completely "cured" and it's going back tomorrow it's a lot better than it was, it was almost going brown, but it's still not "white" around the edges on a white screen test

Ah right, thanks.
2 weeks snd i'm still waiting
they are hopefully resending mine back some point this week unfixed, spending that sort of money on a phone, and having poor customer service and repairs is bad. One dont know what the other is doing, with regards to parts, etc. I think this will be the last sony phone ill buy, if it was htc they would of had the device back alot sooner.
Can we still send our Xperia s with the yellow tint back once we have our bootlooader unlocked? Mine has just started with the yellow tint and ny bootlooader is unlocked. I remember seeing a while back that we could but I'm not sure. Does any one have the phone number for the UK Sony Xperia s? Thanks

Yes, mine was unlocked and since this is a manufacture problem it shouldn't matter at all.
To update this thread, after the second time of sending my phone back (because they damaged my phone) it went in for a full cosmetic repair, although I wrote a long letter and pretty much suggesting I should get a new phone....
I have a new undamaged phone with no tint problem!
Problem isn't the Sony customer support, they are the best support team I've used. The problem is with SBE....
Thanks il get a number for them and give them a ring, it's getting on my nerves now.

here if you give them your defective motherboard you can have a 50$ discount so theoretically you canbuy a new motherboard for 139$
Bummer, you can buy a used s2 for a little more than this.

I live in jeddah, can I ship it to cochin and ask them to repair it at the same cost, no service centers here that might assist with the low cost replacement. Do you have their address and number?
I have a fried motherboard too, gave it to the service center guys here in Jeddah and they say that it will cost me more than what it would to buy a used S2
Probable cause (cause and effect, not necessarily correct from a technical perspective)
I think it could have been my car charger that might have fried it... assuming that i did see once that the battery dropped from 70% to 40% after i connected the charger and I was foolish enough to connect it when the phone was completely out of battery... yeah tell me about it. I purchased another battery too.. original with the hologram and everything but after a week or so the phone would just not boot up.
hi
if you ask me!!! your galay s2 its useless so you gona start thinking to buy an galaxy s3!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can u tell me how much time is required to replace the MOTHERBOARD of Samsung Galaxy S2 ...and what's the waiting time to get the delivery of the phone ..coz i also faced the problem with my GS2 a week ago and it's been a week till now still not received the phone from service center.........and they updated my delivery status after installing a motherboard ........ a phone require overwrite...does it require a overwrite or not?.......... and if require how much time it takes.....This problem all happens only when I was updating my phone to official jellybean update and while rebooting the phone stucked on Welcome Screen the one with(SAMSUNG GALAXY S2 GT-I9100G)........Pls.HELP !!!!...The Service Centre also took a time of 3-4 days to get the part from it's office....
You have two choices re: motherboard replacement -
1) Samsung/service centre - New motherboard, retain original IMEI in most cases/dependant on country (Most expensive option).
2) Search eBay/elsewhere online for a 2nd hand motherboard (you do see them on their own occasionally), or more likely look for a broken phone (screen broken but otherwise OK, for example) you can take the motherboard from. You can either replace this yourself if you feel confident enough, or you can pay a local mobile repair shop to swap this motherboard for the dead one on your phone (Cheapest option). With this option your IMEI will change to that of the phone the board came from, which is no big deal normally (Do not try to restore your old IMEI via an EFS backup restore, fair chance you'll bork your phone if you do).
Samsung will not sell you a new motherboard on it's own. If an authorised service centre sells you a new one without them doing the labor of replacing the old one, you're very very lucky & Samsung would probably chuck a fit if they found out.
Costs will obviously vary widely whichever option you chose, dependent on country normally.

Best way to get screen repaired for GT-I9300 in the US.

So I have had my I9300 GS3 since launch and the other day I cracked my screen.
Now I need to get it fixed, I know that the whole unit AMOLED and digitizer needs to be replaced.
I could probably do it myself if the savings will be a lot but I'm looking for all options and Samsung US won't touch it apparently because its not a US model.
So anyway know of a way to get Samsung US to fix it or where Is a good place I could send it or get a display for it?
Anyone have any ideas?
Use your warranty it wont cost a dime
EDIT:
oh wait.. you cracked it.. mmmm.. you may try some low-end stores maybe in malls just to be sure. You could also do it yourself, there are lots of how-to's in youtube
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
if you're in the US and you have the i9300, then you have 2 choices:
1) DIY. buy the parts from ebay and follow instructions online..
2) Contact the Samsung on the country your phone is registered to. The one I had was register to the UK and they simply said that I'll have to contact their special service center there, arrange the case number with them, then send it to them as well as providing return postage. Then when they receive it, it will take up to 28 days to fix your phone + potential costs for repairs because you are physically not in their region. Any attempt to contact Samsung USA will get the agents telling you that they only service american models and that, I quote, their technicians do not have the knowledge or skill or parts to repair the i9300.
This is my personal experience with the incompetence of Samsung USA.

Has anyone had to send their S6 Edge in for repair?

I bought my S6 Edge for ATT back in April. I was plagued with the Purple Dots on the front camera. It was bad, literally 1/4 of the screen bad and they kept multiplying. I sent mine in recently. How long was your turn around time? Did the fix your phone, give you a new one, or refurbished. My only back up phone is my HTC Magic from New Zealand I bought when I lived there. Using this phone again makes me realize how far we come
yes..but in Germany.. direct to Samsung repair..means not to the provider..shipped back 6 days later..with online check what they did.. was very satisfied

Mi 9t Pro/K20 Pro ghost touch and Xiaomi

Used to be a Xiaomi fan, bought Mi 9t pro on 19 January and ghost touch problem started somewhere around 10 February, not even a month had passed! And I bought it from a third party seller so they won't cover any warranty. Now if I want to fix it the only solution is screen replacement. And everyone knows how costly is that.
If you think my case is not common or I shouldn't buy from a third party seller just search "ghost touch" on r/Xiaomi reddit or google it and you you will see almost every model had this problem. Redmi note 5, note 7, note 8, mi 9se, k20/pro, mi 9t/pro. There are countless cases, some got it fixd by sending it to warranty and some replaced screen on their own money.
So it's not just one device model problem.
And they don't have any international warranty policy, I have to go to the seller to claim warranty (if they have any). And if the seller denies it you are on your own. Good luck finding a replacement part on AliExpress and get shipped to your country on this Coronavirus situation.
Xiaomi should start making quality device or they will lose their loyal customers like me. I have own 3 Xiaomi phones over 5 years period two of those were defected. It's my last Xiaomi.
