Hi all,
I recently decided to upgrade from an N7000 to the N9005. And what a change it is ^_^ I can finally keep up with the latest games and whatnot.
I however find the Note 3 speaker terrible. It distorts with the slightest sound it seems. I tried a few units and it seems to be a problem with most Note 3s.
Does anyone know of any portable speakers (preferably bluetooth) that aren't too expensive? I'm not really looking for high quality here. Mostly to use with podcasts and some gaming. I looked around for some soundbars, but they are very expensive apparently

I personally use this http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...,electronics&rh=i:electronics,k:hmdx jam plus
It is loud enough for outdoors and perfect for indoor use.
Thanks for the tip! I'll see if they'll ship to Europe or if amazon.de/.co.uk carries it
Edit: Found one in .nl I'll go have a look tomorrow ^^

my wife likes the jbl flip they come in colors (except pink) she can listen to her music and answer calls'
i like my jbl charge no call answering but real loud and my headset stays connected for calls
I recommend the Jambox Mini. On sale $30 cheaper than I just paid at a big box store. It comes in several face design and color options and the sound puts the more expensive Beats Pill to shame.

I have an Oontz by Cambridge Soundworks, it was only 50.00 shipped. I love this thing it's incredibly loud for its small size. My girlfriend has one she also loves it, and my mom has a different model than us and it sounds equally good. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=is_pp_2?rh=i:aps,k:Oontz&keywords=Oontz&ie=UTF8&qid=1394169461
Hi everyone,
One of my motivations for moving from LG G2 to the Xperia Z2, is for 4K video. But in watching the different 4K clips posted on YouTube from the Mobile Congress, there appears to be a significant microphone issue.
It sounds as if there are no lows or mid-frequencies. The sound is very squashed and unlike anything I've heard from any cellphone I've ever owned. My concern also extends to phone calls. If the same mike and processing is used for phone calls, this doesn't bode well for call quality. Are there any Z1 owners having the same microphone issue?

however i didn't see and hear about mic. problem But the point is those phones were demo units.
there were lots of bugs in ROM and kernel so maybe bad result for someones.
& as XZ1 user I didn't have any problem with mic.

I'm really hoping that is the case. The audio quality we've seen in the Z2 camera test clips in Youtube is just unacceptable. But then I think that isn't something Sony could mess up that bad, especially when the camera is a big selling point.
+the Z1 etc. were able to record nice audio.21 82299658
God damn can't post links since I'm a new user...
I've noticed that too and it sounds very weird to me.
But on this one it doesn't sound bad at all.
@chesterr
in crowd it s little bit low but it s so clear for me.
i don't know exactly but isn't it because of built-in digital-noise cancellation??

Z2's built-in digital-noise cancellation, works only with Sony's MDR-NC31EM Digital Noise Cancelling Headset.I just hope that this microphone issues that can be heard in the demo units, won't affect overall call quality!

There's always the stereo microphone accessory you can get? Surely with that it will blow every other phone away for video? I'm sure for calls it'll be fine.

Hi there
I just bought the Z2 and everyone I have called or talked to over the phone, has complained that I talk too low :crying:
Right now I'm actually investigating if others had this issue and stumbled over your thread I too had a LG G2 and I changed, because the camera was so bad when taking pictures of people moving or not standing COMPLETELY still etc.
Anyway I haven't found anything yet with Google about the problem, But I do hope it's a software issue and not hardware, because everything else is just so good.

because most users tend to pretend the issue doesn't exist if they don't use a particular feature often...i mentioned about the lousy mic and got ignored by everyone
For your benefit here's an example of the audio recording abilities for the Z2 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoCAJXDL_9k
To test the mic you really need the worst conditions possible..and there you have it. sounds exactly like my samsung galaxy S1 4 years ago, and possibly the worst among the flagships out there(iphone still has the best audio recording...damn. lol) no idea why sony messed this up. buying the STM10 mic doesn't change the fact that the mic is there to ENHANCE the sound...not cover up a subpar standard feature lol.

Damit, I didn't saw your early post about the mic. I don't experience it that bad as in the youtube clip, but it's not the best handling of sound. I do hope they or an xda member fixes it in the future. I'm still glad I chose this phone and wouldn't change it for a One M8 or a Galaxy S5...

My Z2 records perfect sound. With all the frequencies apparent and clean.
Any news about terrible sound quality?
Hi.
I record some videos on a festival last week. The sound is absolutely terrible. Especially if there is loud music.
If i see videos from the Festival that are all record with other phones, they sound very good . Even my Xperia ZL makes fantastic sound if i record a video.
So is there any solution for this?
To buy the "Sony STM10 Stereo Microphone" cannot be a solution.
Thanks
Not good is it? I find the G3, M8 and almost all Lumia's adjust the levels for better audio where the Z2 does not. So perhaps you are supposed to buy the mic!
All sony phones have the same problem.
Mic working great
It's well known that Xperia Z2 has a very sensible high gain microphone because of water isolation. That makes your recordings, specially high decibels recordings such as gigs, sound awful. There is a great solution for this, install niaboc's rom (Existenz 3.1.0) and change the microphone gain to low, that will make you record with great quality.
I made some video recordings at a music festival with my z2. And it was awful. I was abit disappointed. It was all distorted. But then again that's very loud noise at a festival. Although it should be better than it is. Like I say it was all crackly and distorted and can't hear the music properly at all from what I recorded.
Will probably sound and record alot better with the mic accessorie. Though in my opinion, it should be fine without it.
But other videos recorded not at festival sound fine

I'm debating to move to the Z2 and I would very much appreciate any feedback from Z2 owners who have experience with the Note 3.
I am looking at the sound quality of the noise reduction in the headphones and the camera, which are two of the primary draws for me.
How does the sound and camera and overall speed compare in real world use?

Does the 20.7 MP superior auto hack reduce the quality of the shots over the standard 8MP size superior auto mode?
Those gaps you mentioned in the review have me worried. I would have thought Sony would have that worked out by now, after the Z1 had the same problems.
How can anyone trust the water resistance like this?

I will be picking this phone up tommorow, have you noticed any serious over-heating or 4K camera recording issues? i.e phone random rebooting while recording video?
I was a former note 3 user and moved on to Z2.
A lot better software stability. More premium design and better handling regarding the smaller size compared to note 3. Unique amongst all samsung users. Waterproof mania and I've been using phones under water since xperia z. People informing they used it even with gaps and it's safe. Any pen stylus can be used and there is one made for sony (sony stylus es22). Camera is outstanding. 4k download is fun. Noise reduction is real. No need for opening flaps as magnetic charging does the job. Sound quality is really good inspite of the waterproof design. Only missing the IR blaster.
Overall u will never regret the switch!

yea I have both devices at the moment I will play around with both to see what I like most. but I think I will take the sony z2 over the note 3. The screen on the z2 is a lot better then the note 3 the colours are much better. The note 3 is a good phone but the z2 wins on a few more things then the note. As for the gaps tho on the z2 it is true you do get them I had to go through 3 of them before I got one with out gaps. But im very happy with it. And it is still waterproof even with gaps. But when paying 900 for a phone I do not expect there to be gaps between the frame and screen. Some people will be fine with it and some will not. But I can honestly say out of all the other phones I have had they have never had gaps between the frame and screen

A lot of people with gaps of different sizes (including me) have taken the bullet and tested the waterproofing of the phone and we have all concluded that no gap has ever compromised the waterproofing. I've yet to see a report of someone saying the gap compromises the waterproofing of the phone. This is probably due to the construction of the phone as the plastic injection molding goes deeper into the phone and then sandwhiched by the glass.

I personally have experienced over-heating only when recording 4k video for longer than 7 minutes. I think for most, if not all, of the over-heating cases the camera app just shuts off. I don't think anybody's phone ever rebooted due to over-heating from recording 4k.

I am a former Note 3 user - Also reviews would differ depending on the Note 3 variant used.
I have used N9005 LTE and I wont say switch is great. Handset is having lots of issues as discussed by users worldwide. Software crashes which is a common problem and thats the reason Sony till date has real poor reviews for the same. Phone is surely bulky and heavy compared to Note 3. Battery life is pretty much equivalent so no dramas there. Note 3 never heats (N9005 only) even with an hour of game play - Z2 surely does with 5 min camera usage too. Sound Output of Note 3 is way louder compared to Z2. Camera Z2 has a real good one No doubts about that. Build Quality also is pretty superb.

I owned the Note 3. Bitterly disappointed with it despite its being a very able mobile. It just didn't work for me. In terms of camera, cant help not my area of expertise. Now sound reproduction is another matter.
In terms of portable sound reproduction Sony started the ball rolling with their Walkmans decades ago. The quality of sound reproduction on most Sony mobile devices is above average to top quality IF one uses dedicated head phones. Here we go..........Headphones or speakers can only reproduce what the amplifier amplifies so the source and amplification are vital. Sony is a leading manufacturer in this area in terms of mobile sourcing and amplification, they have many years of experience and have more or less pioneered portable sound. To this end what we have in the Xperia range is very good amplification and when used with a hi-fidelity headphone those phones are able to take full advantage of the excellent source.
The Xperia Z2 comes with the Sony MDR-NC31EM noise cancelling head phones I am listening to them as I type this and yes they are more accomplished than the stock headphones bundled in most mobiles, better by far BUT..........There are far better still. I am not keen on ear bud type head phones. I prefer an over the ear 'open back' headphone like the Sennheiser PX-100-11. They simply amaze every time I use them and have become a reference point in reviewing other headphones despite their meagre price of around 40.00€ :good:
.
In terms of the ear bud type the Sennheiser CX-300-11 make the Sony ear buds sound amateur. Now if you can afford say 80.00€ the AKG K452 are designed for Android devices and are based on the award winning 450 and 451's They are also portable and come with their own carry case, they are closed back and not ear buds. The AKG can reproduce frequencies between 11-29500Hz, that's from very low base to very high treble! In comparison the Sony MDR's only manage 20-20000Hz meaning they cannot produce the full spectrum of sound frequencies the Z2 is capable off. I am generally not a fan of Sony headphones.
Please do accept that the type of sound you enjoy will not be the same as others. There are numerous brands of head phone and you are bound to find one that you enjoy. Main point is here the Samsung you mention on headphones produced a very decent sound BUT the Sony does produce a greater band width and more open stage to the music. As for the speakers or speaker on the phones themselves, neither are worth even listening to, having written that the Sony again leaves the Sammy dead in the water.
I hope I have been of some small help to you?
Best wishes, Ryland
Well I went the other way, in that I bought a Z2 and gave it up for a Note 3. I will echo what everyone else is saying, the Z2 makes a mockery of the Note's sound, especially with those bundles headphones. Nothing I do to the Note will bring the audio close to the Z2's, I'd be very interested to hear from a Note user that managed to make good on the Note's audio.
The Z2's screen is better but I wouldn't say to a degree that I wouldn't let it impact on the decision to pick it up. We're talking about a significantly smaller screen with that damn navigation bar in place of the buttons. The camera on the Z2 is where it really shines for me. Photos and videos are simply phenomenal. If this matters to you then it's a no-brainer seriously.
It really depends if you're like me and stuck in your ways. I use the Note for work and constantly using the S-Pen for drawing layouts and switching to calculator, I also like my physical buttons. It didn't take me long to switch back for those reasons but I really struggled with the decision to give the Z2 to my girlfriend due to the quality of the audio and video/photo capture. The Z2 is a solid handset it just depends what you want to use it for I guess.

Indeed. It depends on ones prioritise and what one does with the mobile.
I was disappointed with the Note 3. My own fault, I made a pre sale purchase and was the first customer in this country to own one. What horrified me about the Note 3 was the plastic leather back with plastic stitching then the plastic chrome sides. No way could I live with the feel of that mobile despite its many other qualities.
Music is important to me and the Samsung on this occasion was awful. The original cost was 1100€ for the Sammy and the Gear watch. With that sort of outlay I expected better materials and construction than the Sammy offered.
If you need the S-pen the Sammy Note is THE phone to own. In that respect its rather unique.
I think when we purchase something we are going to use and hold every day we need to feel pride of ownership and with those plastics made to look like other materials no way could I stomach it. Maybe if the Note 4 is made from decent high end materials I would take another look at the Samsung range BUT as music is important to me it sort of rules out the present Samsung range.
Its great to have all this choice though :highfive: .

Very helpful indeed. My question is this: Sennheiser CX-300-11 does not allow the noise cancelling features built into the device to function, but how do they compare in terms of noise reduction/isolation on their own?
The others are out of my price range at the moment, but the Sennheiser CX-300-11 might get me by.

Let me put is this way. When my dear to my heart wife starts to tell me off..............I just pop those in and its bliss.
They come with several sizes of rubber ear bud. When they are in the ear you cannot hear a word outside.
Noise cancelling is not always a good thing. This means the source of the music is not pure. The less distortion your music has the more natural the sound. Processing the sound, as in noise cancelation, is not something I would consider its much like the use of graphic equalisers they just made a mess of the original sound. Sony produce a very good source so I would not want it processed.
The Sennheiser is a very respectable head phone and through me many of my friends and family now own them. I fail to see how one could go wrong with an ear bud that price? I think you will be rather surprised. :highfive:

How sensitive are they? I mean, can they be driven properly by the Note 3's sound hardware for the meantime while I decide what device (if any) to replace it with?
I'm torn between the LG G3, G Pro 2, or the OnePlus One, but the latter is not available without invite, and the former are rather expensive Korean imports at the moment.
I went from the Note 3 to the HTC One M8 (for a few days) to the Xperia Z2 and couldn't be happier. I feel it's a huge upgrade for me, notably not having to deal with TouchWiz. Sony's Android UI is far nicer in my opinion. Battery life seems to be better than my Note 3 as well.
I came from the Note 2, but have used my friends' Note 3's extensively. Phone is really nice, the build quality, responsiveness, battery life, and stability are all nice. I did have a problem with my GPS in that it couldn't find my location once but restarting the phone fixed it. However, I will point out that the Note 2 and 3 are better for two handed texting, and the Z2 is great for 1 handed swyping. The speaker phone, because of the water proofing, is quieter and not as clear on the note 2, but has comparable quality to the note 3 speaker (although note 3 is louder). Z2 does get points for front facing speakers though, but flipping the note 2 face down while on speaker gave both parties better results.
Using the Neutron music app, (disgusting UI, but the BEST in sound quality) I found that the note 2 has better sound quality. There is a slight background noise, but that is diminished with moderate volume. Through hi-fi headphones, the note 2 has a better lows, the bass hits harder, with no bleed into the mid or high range. The Z2 has a bit of a bright but overall balanced sound. If you are a basshead then the note 2 is more preferable/fun to listen to but the Z2 is cleaner.
As for the UI, Sony has done a great job with keeping everything simple and clean. It's fast, responsive, and I have had no problems with lagging or hang ups. However, Samsung gives you more customization and even though it feels bloated some times, it lets me do what I need quickly and easily. Like changing the vibration intensity, blocking calls with acceptations, changing brightness in the notification area w/o going to the second tab, tapping the brightness icon, and then changing it. Stock Sony is limited, like stock Android.
Notification light under the speaker is sweet, I just wish it could be a little brighter/customizable. Screen is smaller and easier to reach across, but is lightly mitigated by the bezel size and ergonomics. The blacks are REALLY good for an IPS screen, and I don't notice much of a difference from the true blacks on the AMOLED screen, the colors are accurate yet still vibrant, which is great. The one thing lacking on the Sony screen is the viewing angles, which are OK and the screen is kinda reflective, but I can still see if I max the brightness under the brightest day.
Someone else is listening a noise like a fan coming from the rear camera when starting the camera app? It's normal or a product fault?
When recording a video the hiss is recorded too in background...
Same, someone help ?
Hi kristian12 for my experience I decided to not send rhe phone to assistance. After some weeks of daily use the noise/hiss has become slightly less and with a protective rear cover it's now better and not too annoying, but still present. Let me know what you think to do too.
Same problem here. Has it got any better since your last post (maybe the camera just has to warm-up )? Nevertheless, I am concerned about it and I think I will make a complaint...
Had the same issue with the Nokia 7.1 I received today. (4GB version, steel, in Denmark).
Went to the store and got the money back (the didn't have any other 7.1's in the store).
Went to another store and got another 7.1. Same issue.
Exchanged it for another one. Same issue again.
Ended up getting my money back.
So 3 out of 3 phones with audio noise coming from the camera itself. So weird.
Here's a guess for what might be causing the noise:
It might be from the ceramic capacitor used for the flash?
It doesn't pick up in any video recording I've done (super rare I record video anyway) but I can confirm mine has a strange almost-speaker sound hiss on my TA-1085 anytime the camera is active for photo or video. Almost sounds like listening in a seashell and more bass-y than I expected.
Today I went to yet another store that had the 7.1 on display.
And that too had noise from the camera. So for me it is now 4 out of 4 tested 7.1's that have had noise from the camera.
This leads me to suspect that it is an issue with all 7.1's. So I don't understand why there isn't a lot more people talking about this?
Do people not notice? or care? or maybe it is only in some versions, like the ones available in Denmark...
If the noice isn't picked up by the mic, like UCFJake experiences, then I could live with it myself.
I only had the opportunity to test the phone in a quiet area for a short time, so maybe I was mistaken by that part, and the noise I heard in a recorded video was just normal background noise amplified.
So to those of you with a 7.1, I would really appreciate it if you could help me by checking if your phone has noise from the camera, and then record a video in a quiet place, and see if there's audio noise picked up in the recording?
Because if there's not, I will go back and get the 7.1 anyway.

Hey,
I got 7.1 in Germany yesterday and the noise is present. When you record a video, yes, there is a noise picked up but to hear it when playing you have to put the volume almost to the 70% level and then the noise from the loudspeaker is on the same level as the original one from the camera (you have to get really close to the loudspeaker to hear it). Hope that explains...
Also, a lot of people in the Russian forum complain for the same.
The biggest concern for me is that the noise won't get worse over time (like the dying capacitor in PSU, if one ever heard it) or the camera won't stop working.
Thanks for the info!
For me it's absolutely unacceptable that such a defect has been allowed to be present in the finished product.
So I'll start looking for another phone to get.
(If anyone in the Copenhagen area wants an unused clear 7.1 back cover, they can get mine)
From the other hand, I tried to record the video from the front camera and there's also a small noise when you play it on high volume, but that camera is silent. So this recorded noise might be a microphone issue (it's normal, more or less, you will never get an absolute silence). The difference in noise level between videos made on main and front camera is not significant, I can hardly tell, it's rather different frequencies of the noise - one is a little bit higher, another one is lower, like purple vs white noise.
So I don't know, @Morton_Fizzback, maybe you've heard exactly that noise on your recording when you had it, maybe you can still live with it...
I was just at the store looking at the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1, since it should have near stock android, but I was a bit annoyed by the pre-installed Facebook and Instagram apps that could only be disabled and not removed. So I'm considering the 7.1 again. Thanks for the testing @Summer Son !
So I tried again with another 7.1.
Again, as expected, it had the noise from the camera, but I think I might have been wrong with it being picked up by the mic.
I did some comparisons with another phone in a quiet room, and when recording and then playing a video with the volume turned up, they seemed to have about the same level of noise. So I guess what I heard the first time, might just have been normal static noise amplified.
So like others, my only small concern now, is that the noise isn't an indication that a part in the phone will be more prone to fail early.
Hi everyone
I have bought my 7.1 from France and i have notre had any noise problem from the camera until Pie update last weekend.
Since last sunday, noise from caméra is awful.
I suppose an update will arrive soon.
@Nathan03, it was there before, you just haven't noticed it.
Hello to everyone,first post.
I am stuck with a very peculiar problem, I hope somebody can help me here.
I have the v20 (my daughter inherited it), the v30 (as backup), my wife has the v50 and I just bought a v60. The musical experience is a key feature for us.
Now, I have a maddening issue with it. After setting it up, i immediately noticed that it sounded distorted when playing certain songs from tidal.
I have a pair of etymotic research er2xr iems and a custom made ciem pair (75 ohm impedance) that literally blows the er2xr out of the water.
However, I started listening to classical music, it began to drive me nuts. There is constant distortion when playing high frequency piano parts (Chopin for example). I have tried different sources (tidal, my own collection in various resolutions) and they all produce the same distortion.
Other than that the sound quality is awesome. That is the strangest thing.
With the er2xr it is less pronounced but with the more revealing ciems it is simply not enjoyable.
I have done my fair bit of research (read about tidal watermarks etc. ) , I have tried the ciems with the v50 and the others, they sound fantastic playing Chopin. I even tried them with my desktop dac without issues.
My conclusion is:
- the dac has a problem (that's strange because only one frequency range is problematic)
- the dac has been tuned like this by the factory - that would also be strange as obviously other people would listen to classical music on it and they would definitely hear it.
I would really appreciate it if someone could add their opinions and tips.
I bought the phone from Germany and it's covered by warranty but it would be a hassle to send it back, let alone explaining the problem to them as with the oem iems nothing is audible.
Other than this and the occasional dual screen flickering issue (that has to do something with UAPP player) In love this phone and would like to stick with it.
The V50 sounds very different (darker I would say) and it is better tuned in my opinion. All other things, however, are better on the v60.
Thanks for every suggestion.

I don't have Tidal but I can test the tracks on my V60 and G8 through Deezer (lossless CD quality). I'd be using the Focal Clear and HD800s. I don't really have IEMs other than a pair of Klipsch X10.

I have some experience in this same subject but I would rather talk about it on the LG discord. To make it short, I have had 3 different V60 units and can confirm 1 sounded very distinctly different the the other two. All 3 units had the same distortion (usually on lower freq's in my case) you are referring to that I could confirm with my pair of IEM Audiosense T800. I also have had every V series device including 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and G7 and G8. I agree the V50 sounded darker bolder, more closed in and personal to my ears at times, the V60 seems a bit more detailed and brighter. I can expand in more detail of my findings and I still have my G7 to compare to back and fourth.
Thanks for the replies. I have taken the phone to an audio engineer and had it checked by oscilloscope. It seems to be working fine, no clipping. However, when connected to an external sound generator the noise was clearly audible, which would lead me to think that the iems have a problem. Btw, I modify my earlier assessment, it happens when there is an attack, for example, and low and high frequencies are played together. The sound generator showed that it's almost always there but clearly audible from 200 Hz to 600Hz.
Then I went back to the guy who made the custom iem.
Findings are the followings:
- the noise is definitely audible when using the v60 with the ciems.
- no noise is audible when I listen to the v60 with other professional grade iems
- no noise is audible when using the ciems with a cayin n8 dap or other players
The above seem to contradict each other.
The ciem developer says that the ciem and phone are just not compatible. I tend to believe him, if such a thing exists, at all.
Hi, before I saw your post I made a thread about what seems like the same issue on my Bell Canada V60. I first noticed it playing Chopin piano, lol. It's very clear playing piano tracks. I have a binuaral beats app that can generate a signal and I can hear it as well. It's only there Somewhere between minimum and maximum volume and only when HIFI Quad DAC is enabled. I was begining to think I have a single hardware defect associated with the Quad DAC until I saw your post. What firmware are you on? I'm on V600TM10q
Here is my post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/lg-v60-quad-dac-issues-with-noise-and-distortion.4227291/

Hi,
This thing is really driving me nuts. I had the V60 measured with an oscilloscope by an expert. He didn't find any distortions or irregularities. I have replaced the ciems with a more expensive pair. The high noise floor (or background noise has disappeared) but it has developed a new problem since then. It started to randomly give a mechanical popping sound which is not consistent (doesn't always happen in the same tracks). The developer of the ciem is certain that the problem is the V60. I am not convinced about it.
Nevertheless, yesterday I went and sat down with the developer of the ciem to show him the problem. Guess what! I sat there for an hour and no matter what I did I couldn't reproduce the problem. Then on the way home in the car, it reappeared again. It is audible if you turn the iem around and only listen to the faceplate from the outside it sounds something like a cricket (only slightly mechanical) . Then the same problem occured with my wife's V50., too.
So, I think the problem is with the ciem not the V60. On the other hand, the first pair of ciems definitely worked and listening with my wife's er2xr I heard the same problems (high background noise) only less audibly.
Basically, I am stuck between the V60 and the ciems. I could return the V60 under warranty, but I am afraid I would only make a fool of myself as they would not be able to hear the problem. It is like chasing ghosts.
To sum it up, I am leaning towards the opinion that there are certain iems that have an incompatible frequency response curve with the LG V60 (it is important to note that the V50 doesn't have the same issue).

Hi Adamcs,
I have an USB external dac "Topping NX4 DSD" and other devices as well. Ive compared the v60 with 4 different headphones with different impedances. The issues are not present when I use an external usb dac with the v60, I dont hear them with the internal Quad Dac turned off. For me the issue is the way LG decided to auto unable the Quad Dac for different headphone impedances. (Above 50ohm I assume).. And the way they tuned the v60 dac to handle them. It seems with certain headphones, more sensitive ones, the issue is more obvious. Painfully obvious with Quad Dac on and Sony Mdr-7506 and solo piano tracks, Chopin for example. I still like this device even though Android 10 has its issues. UAPP is a big help there even if not perfect. In my opinion, its not the headphones and not the v60 all the time, seems like the combination of its Quad Dac and some headphones. I'm still a little confused but im starting to get a more clear picture of the situation after a lot of troubleshooting and reading other posts. Hope it helps you.
I wish I was there when your expert measured it with the scope, wish I owned one tbh. I know how to produce the conditions for the noise distortion to appear every time using a signal generated wave. Measuring it would be really interesting.
PS. I just played a random track with UAPP and Tidal, Olivia Dear - Halfway, and the distortion is immediately noticeable from the start. Its like the bass crossover leaks into the treble and its incredibly noticeable with Sony Mdr-7506( kind of bright pro headphones I use for audio editing, mixing etc..) Turn Quad dac off and theres zero distortion present.
I have experienced this issue as well, and have taken some measurements. This is the first 10 seconds of 'The Last Geisha' by Isidor. Top in both pics is Quad DAC on, lower is DAC off. Obvious, measurable issues with this phone. I'm rather upset by this, as unless my device is defective (or should I say, OUR devices) then either ESS or LG screwed something up, and this phone has zero right to be considered 'audiophile' at all. Considering trying to use my warranty to get a refund, or hopefully a replacement without the issue.

Have you guys tried to confirm whether your V60 identifies the earphones as audio devices or just "external device" and see if it makes a difference? You can tell the connection type by the app Hifi Status (LG).

My V60 is always in high-impedance mode with my headphones, and that's when I notice distortion. I recall doing my distortion test on a pair of Carbo Tenore IEMs. Gain was not in high-impedance mode (normal audio device). Didn't hear the distortion. I'm not sure how to make it go into external device mode.
By the way, if we want to be sure that we're talking about the same issue, I can only hear distortion when the volume is between 30-50 and the Quad DAC is in high-impedance mode. The distortion affects the left ear much worse than the right, but right still has a little bit going on. Distortion only seems to happen on specific tracks that rub it the wrong way, like The Last Geisha, as I mentioned above.

I streamed the song using TIDAL, Soundcloud, and Youtube. Same distortion every time. I tried using UAPP with the direct driver but also made no difference.

Try using a recording, wav, HDCD or a higher resolution lossless file type through Poweramp and see if you can dial the DAC in with many audio processing options. All DSP engines are not create equal.
Might be some sort of artifact present in the TIDAL music not your hardware.
With piano and especially harpsichord music artifacts are easier to detect.
Ideally you should use a stereo open air driver system ie a set of monitor speakers in a acoustically suitable listening area in order to fully reproduce the soundstage... or hear the lack of it.

That the artifacts disappear when the Quad DAC is turned off leads me to believe that TIDAL isn't the issue, plus the other streaming services I tried. Believe me, the distortion artifacts are very audible with headphones. I'm using Clears and HD 650s. Soundstage was never an issue, just the crackling sounds that come from the peculiar crossover distortion.

Yeah that doesn't sound good. If you have Developer options you could look at what audio options are available. Double check the settings.
Since you want to listen to music and know the difference... it will only grate on your nerves more as times passes. I toss it back.
Sorry you're having so much trouble.

I'd return the phone to the merchant if you're still in the return window or initiate a warranty exchange with LG.
