My liquid remix rom is encrypted from the start, and I cannot disable it from within the rom.
So, what should I do to make it stay decrypted from henceforth?
Will disabling dm verity and force encryption at start would have avoided this situation?
And if encryption applies to internal storage too, what would happen to the internal storage when resetting the rom/ clean flashing another rom with recovery without wiping internal storage?
1. Backup storage via recovery to external sd/ USB
Format data from recovery (wipes internal storage too)
Make sure recovery disables dm verity and force encryption or just flash https://build.nethunter.com/android-tools/no-verity-opt-encrypt/
Optional : Flash magisk or supersu before reboot
Restore backups
2. Orange fox recovery disables dm verity and force encryption by default
but maybe at the setup stage, I messed up:
"Secure startup - You'll be asked to "further protect this device" by requiring your PIN, pattern, or password when your device starts. The first time that you choose this setting, it will encrypt your device. "

I took out my sdcard and did format data on the internal storage and now i can't mount my sdcard in twrp. Didn't think about the fact that removing the encryption on the internal storage would make it unable to recognize the encryption on the sdcard afterwards. Is there any way to fix this? Or did I just screw myself?
When I reinstalled the rom and tried to boot it still asks me for my password which still works even though I can't boot because it says that the data is corrupted. But the encryption key should still be stored somewhere apparently. There must be a way to use it to decrypt the sdcard.

This is so annoying thing for me. Every time when I want to use TWRP because of encryption I must format /data. Is there any chance to avoid this step? I want to have TWRP but I have no OTA. So, I need to download ROM, enter TWRP /data and always from scratch. So idiotic
How to not format /data and still have TWRP full operational?

Hint: OrangeFox does not do*anything*(eg, encryption) to your data partition. If your data partition is encrypted, it is normally something done by your ROM. Sometimes it depends on a setting in your ROM's configuration - but some ROMs force encryption by default.
Which doesn't solve problem

Format your data, install the OrangeFox zip again (because formatting data will have wiped the internal storage - which includes OrangeFox's files), tick "Disable forced encryption" in the OrangeFox settings, and install your ROM. OrangeFox will remove the forced encryption settings in the ROM that you have just installed, and you shouldn't have a problem with forced encryption with that ROM.
When I try to wipe, I get "Unable to mount" (see attached image)
If I go to Mount menu,, tapping on Data does not check the option
I can't update my custom ROM either because the sdcard and every folder of the internal storage is empty.
I have a Redmi 5 Plus with Havoc 2.1. The phone is not encrypted and I disabled the screen lock
Hello,
the situation:
* Upgraded from Oreo to Pie with Samsung Stock (June build)
* Flashed TWRP, no-verity, magisk, xposed (Ed) etc.
* then factory resetted (reasons not important)
Everything worked fine. Then I encrypted my internal SD card with the 9.0 Samsung Stock ROM.
Complication:
* I realized TWRP cannot handle encrypted internal storage from Samsung Stock.
* Now I can flash (with Odin) a Stock ROM and TWRP.
* But I cannot unencrypt my internal storage using TWRP
* This MEANS I cannot flash magisk via TWRP etc.
> When I go to TWRP > wipe > wipe data, TWRP formats internal storage (it is then not displayed as "0 MB" anymore)
> However, when I re-flash stock rom - the internal storage gets apparently encrypted again without me chosing the option
Is there a way out? Otherwise I have effectively killed my S9+ for root usage under stock rom (which I need for camera performance - sole reason I bought the s9+).
Thank you in advance.

So i realize that twerp is not capable of decrypting internal data storage for the s9+. But is it a bug? I mean there must be a way to just wipe the internal storage without being able to handle Samsung encryption??
//Edit
just FYI: installing the following ROM with the "_rescue" suffix as explained by the dev, solves the problem of the encrypted storage!

Ok so this is getting interesting.
1. Encrypting with Samsung Stock
2. Wiping Data (wipe "yes") with TWRP
3. --> Internal Storage accessible again - but no ROM installed
4.A.1. Reflashing samsung stock
4.A.2 Internal storage automatically encrypted again
4.B.1 Alternatively: Flashing DevBase Samsung Stock
4.B.2 Internal Storage still decrypted and accessible via TWRP
4.B.3 Wiping DevBase ROM
4.B.4 Flashin original Samsung Stock
---> Internal Storage encrypted again and not accessible for TWRP
Question: Does encrypting the internal storage via Samsung Stock once, trigger a flag that causes the phone to be permanently be re-encrypted if flashing stock ROM?
Is there a solution to this?
So i assume no one has encounter this ever before or has enough technical acumen to give a hint?
"_rescue" totally worked.

Thanks for the referral.
I was in the exactly the same predicament as yourself.
Flashing the latest XSG (UAE) firmware encrypted /data and I couldn't decrypt it.

hi
I enable a switch named "proxy for google play" in lucky patcher and it made my system very unstable. i try to fix this by flashing original system.img matching my boot image "v10.3.8.0". it cause boot loop. now twrp can't decrypt my storage when i use slot a but i can boot to system when using slot b. how do i fix slot a now without formatting storage?
update: bad news. i have wifi problem on slot b
update2:
flashing stock boot image v10380 to slot a ==> no encryption problem but no wifi
flashing twrp img to slot a ==> same as above
flashing stock boot image that patched with twrp and then with magisk ==> encryption problem (twrp show weird folder name and can't boot to system without factory reset )
flashing stock boot image that patche with magisk ==>encryption problem (can't boot to system without factory reset )
since in some cases i have access to internal storage it's possible to backup and wipe every thing but this encryption problem came to me several times and i want to understand why it happens, how to prevent that and how to solve issue without wiping.
