Microphone screeching sound - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Hello, I'm getting this weird issue on my week old s9.
It seems that when on VOIP calls, my 2nd microphone (the one used for noise cancellation) throws a fit and it causes some loud screeching sounds to be heard by the other party.
It really sounds like a positive feedback, but I can't understand what's happening. I'm not getting any problem on standard mobile calls, only on wideband VOIP such as Skype, telegram and WhatsApp calls.
I'm not using any covers, both microphone holes are clean and free of dust, and I've already gone down the hard reset way.
Has anyone experienced this issue?

Headset microphone doesn't pick up what voice recorder does?

Hi all, I have a question about my GS2 that I bought recently.
I recently upgraded from a Nokia e71x. I'm a college student with a roommate, so I used a wired headset to talk to my gf quietly at night on the phone (mostly talking low voice or whispering). I bought the samsung earbud+mic that comes with other samsung phones and she couldn't hear me at all or my voice was breaking up. I also tried using a little adapter to use my old ear piece but still, same problem. So I tried to use the earpieces in the voice recorder app to see if it was the calling or the mics and it was picking up my voice with perfect quality!
is there any way to fix my phone so that it sends better voice quality or something? I tried using the mics on my brother's iPhone and they work perfectly fine on it :/
Does it break up when talking at normal volumes? It could be that low volume doesn't work well with that microphone.

Not at normal voices, just at much lower/quieter voices. I know the mic works because using it on voice recorder I can hear my voice perfectly. Also, I used the mics on my old Nokia and my brother's iPhone and it works great
Keep in mind during a phone call noise reduction will be active. Not active during voice recorder. The phone may be half trying to cancel out your voice because it thinks it's background noise.
If you can get noise reduction shut off, that particular microphone may work better. The apple headset shouldn't work as well with noise reduction as it's a different brand, enabling better low volume conversations.
To test it out, use the Samsung headset to call someone and hold the microphone next to the microphone on top of the phone and whisper, see how well it sounds.
Then move the phone a normal distance away from you and see how whispering sounds when the microphones on the phone are and aren't covered.
If it is noise reduction causing you trouble, holding it next to the top of the phone should make whispering pickup better. And covering up the phone mics at normal distance should also improve how whispering sounds.

I tried what you suggested with no difference between any of the mics. Also, I tried to turn off noise suppression, but apparently noise suppression is already off when you use a headset. Thanks, do you have any other advice?
Lol, I guess get an apple headset. I'm sure there might be other things you could do, but I can't think of any. Could just be the Samsung one is not as good as the apple one.

[Q] During video chats, sound keeps going to ear speakers

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone had this problem. While video chatting on the new hangout or skype, the sound keeps jumping from the phone speakers to the ear speakers. Needless to say this is a huge hassle as you keep the phone away from your ears when you're video chatting. The front ear speakers are significantly weaker than the back speakers and this makes it very difficult to hear.
Since this happens in 2 different apps, I'm thinking it's an s3 issue and not an app issue. For Google hangouts, you can choose to use back or front speakers. Reselecting the back speakers is a temporary fix. But then it will automatically jump back again... Very annoying since skype doesn't have a temporary fix like that.
Anyone else have this problem or a fix? Thanks in advanced!!

Microphone not working

I am on my 3rd HTC One and the microphone is still having problems. I've read other threads and none seems to provide a solution to the problem. People I talk to can hear me if I use speakerphone or a headphone, but not if I'm just on the regular headset. People can't hear me unless I scream really loud. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm on stock rom.
Dumb question, does your headset have a mic on it? And have you made sure the volume is turned up with it connected?

My buddy is having the same issue. He is now on 4.3 and is still experiencing this issue. It's been occurring for a some time now. He is completely stock/never rooted. The phone itself has horrible mic quality when using the phone alone. If he turns on speakerphone or uses a headset the quality is crystal clear.
We did some playing around on how he calls and apparently it may be an issue with the noise cancelling sensor on the back of the phone (small hole). Try calling someone while covering and not covering this hole to test if your call quality improves. He ended up hold his phone while cuffing the back and it seems to be better. It's a dumb solution, but hopefully it works for you.
Does anyone know if there is an option to turn off noise reduction on the phone? Sorry for the question, i do not own an HTC One.

[Q] Noise cancellation mic problem?

I am having a weird issue. People have been complaining that they cannot hear my voice clearly on the call, or its very low. I need to be very loud for them to hear me alright. I tried all different radios and it was the same.
I figured out that if I cover the noise cancellation mic on top with my finger and talk, they can hear me perfectly fine even if i am not loud. Is this a know problem and is there anyone facing similar issues? I will appreciate any help
Thanks.
Edit: I have also tried different roms, both stock and kitkat.

[SOLVED] Call quality is good only with loudspeaker ON

Hello, I have a very strange issue , I wi be greatful if someone could help me.
When on a CALL , another person can barely hear me, voice keeps breaking up. Then When you turn ON loud speaker, problem suddenly disappear and all is good
Turn loud speaker OFF again, can't hear me properly again.
MIC tested and works fine with sound recorder.
Tried to to turn off LTE calling and disable late and other stuff
Tried to speak directly into mic, same thing.
Basically they able to hear me clearly only with loudspeaker ON . Weird
This is also strange as I seem reports where some people were complaining exactly opposite, that loudspeaker ON created problems. In my case call quality works when speaker is ON.

[SOLVED]
Found am answer on another forum.
Basically Just had to clean the microphone hole with vacuum cleaner.
Still strange, how it works, as I wrote before, mic works fine when loud speaker ON, as and is very clear when using voice recorder. Somehow it very sensitive to any dust inside when used during a call.
But it did a job, can be heard clearly now without speaker ON or with.
I have the same issue its weird but I tried cleaning it with toothbrush and toothpick still nothing.. I will try the vacuum cleaner I hope it works.
edit:
It didn't work for me
