So I know there might be a few threads out there about this but saw that the suggestions from them did not help me. I've started to have issues with downloading anything from the Market. I'd try to dl an app and then it would say download unsuccessful pretty much right away.
I tried clearing cache from the market, factory resetting, permissions, and a few other alternatives. But I tried sending an app from the android market from a computer browser and though it took forever, it downloaded on my phone after about 5-10 minutes. I can't seem to dl directly from my phone.
I also tried signing in with another google account after factory resetting and I seem to be able to dl perfectly from the market. So I assume that it is something to do with my main google account but don't know how to fix the issue since there are no options or settings to reset or fix the problem. Anyone have any ideas?
Hello,
today I encountered a strange problem. When I open Google Now and press the menu button, the Google Now menu (the one with refresh, sample cards, search w/ camera, settings, etc.) immediately closes. Has this ever happened to anyone? I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling it through Play Store, uninstalling and reinstalling with Titanium Backup and even full wiped and flashed a stock based ROM, but the problem is still there. Thanks in advance
EDIT: Happens only on the last version, gotta stick with the previous.

Same problem here on Samsung Note 2 with 4.1.2. Very frustrating. If you have an S3 or Note 2, please try to reproduce and bump this thread up.
disable "hotword detection" setting will stop the problem.
for now just have to disable the hotword while waiting for the fix from Google.
Now, you guys probably have seen a few of these threads from the past but hear me out:
I rooted my Verizon Galaxy S4 today with this method, and it successfully rooted my phone. But when I tried launching Google Play/related apps or Gmail, and I'm on my wifi (I don't know if this is just mine, or if it will not work over any wifi, cannot test yet), I either get Server Error or No Connection. Also, notifications say that my connection is unstable despite the fact that it wasn't before root. I narrowed down the Server Error to Adblock Plus, but I get No Connection on my wifi with it disabled. It worked fine before root even with Adblock Plus, but now it's being weird after. I've tried MarketEnabler, clearing the Google Servives Framework and Google Play data/cache, unlinking my Google account, reinstalling Google Play, etc. But all to no avail. Reflashing gapps is not an option because I do not have a custom recovery because of a locked bootloader. So what else could I possibly do to fix the issue? I don't want to have to download all my apps with data because that could rack up huge charges for big apps. I also do not want to have to unroot or restore factory defaults. I haven't touched any apps (besides freezing TouchWiz Home, because I use a different launcher, and Knox Notification Manager in Ti, which shouldn't even affect Google Play or Gmail). So, yeah. That's my issue.
May be a silly question, but have you tried restarting your s4? I have gotten those errors before and a restart helped. I'm on mj7 stock rooted from old and slow and I get the wifi connection unstable when I'm close to out of range.

Dang I was hoping I had helped..maybe someone else can point you in better direction..but if I run across solution I'll post it here for you

That's not something that anyone has reported. I'm assuming that you've removed Adblock Plus (however, that shouldn't have any impact here.)
It's strange that the Wifi problem only happens with Gmail and Google Play.
What I'd suggest is to uninstall the Google Play updates, then reboot. That'll start you with a known good Google Play app. Then, reinstall the updates using Google Play.

I actually have had a few of the same issues and internet apps frequently freeze and crash too. I uninstalled Adblock Plus and it fixed the problem for the most part.

No, I have not removed Adblock Plus. Just turned it off when testing. Uninstalled updates for Google play, it factory-restored to 4.3.11, issue still occurs. Google Play updated, issue persists.
I just found out what the problem was. I had Adblock Plus before root, and had custom network configs. Turns out, since ABP was no longer routing the connections, certain apps couldn't connect. I got rid of the configs, and started Google Play, and BAM it connected. So, I fixed the problem.
I keep getting this error and it seems to only happen when accessing location. I have a Tasker rule to have location turned off and it only turns on for certain apps that require it (Maps, Google Now, Espn apps, etc), every time I open those apps and the rule gets executed this error pops up. I've searched this problem and tried every suggestion, wipe cache/data, uninstall updates, factory reset, reset app defaults, install previous version, nothing seems to work. Version 5.2 seems to not give me the error, but certain Google apps won't function without the updated version, and even if I live without them, Play Services just updates itself (despite turning Auto-Updates off and detaching it from the Market in TB). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, it's an irritating error to frequently receive.
Same problem
I have this exact problem and like the OP have tried everything. Nothing seems to work. Any help would be much appreciated!

I finally figured out what was causing it, I had a Location Consent Disabler mod that was causing it. The new version of Play Services lets you select not to show the pop up again making the mod obsolete. If you have that mod, uninstall and it should go away
Hey I too had the same mod. thanks for point it out.
I have an Atrix 4g running CM11. Google accounts used to work perfectly, but suddenly, I can't sync any more, and removing the accounts with intent of setting them up again rendered me unable to login any more, saying that the phone "can't get a reliable connection."
The only thing that changed that I can think of is that I installed Clean Master and a lot of other CM applications, such as the launcher, browser and the lockscreen. I don't see how this would affect it, however, because of the steps I've already taken to try and fix this.
And I've tried everything. From changing my android ID, to reinstalling CM11, to installing an update to CM11, to trying other ROMs (oddly, no other ROM besides CM11 could boot, which was also new behaviour). I know that the problem is in my device, because I can't sign in with any google account on it, but I can sign in with those accounts on other devices. I've tried everything, and I'm completely stumped as to what could cause this.
Bump. I really need a solution to this.

You must turn off the two step verification on your gmail account before logging into your sync your Google (motoblur) account to the phone.
Apparently the phone detects that the Google server is asking for additional information and incorrectly reports that your username and password do not match. At the minimum, the software should inform you that you need to turn off the 2-step verification and then try again.

I know this is a little late, but you say you couldn't boot into any other ROM? Did we forget that there's a difference between normal and bigpart?
