amazfit stratos acting out - Amazfit

Hello,
I have the amazfit stratos for few wkks now and in the last 2 day it started to act quite weird.
Out of the blue it starts an activity without touhcing it, it is scrolling through the options rapidly and erractically. all without interacting with it whatsoever (even when the watch is not on my wrist).
I tried to do factory reset twice (once with restoring data and once without) and it did not help and the issue presist.
is there something that I can do to fix it?

Bad digitizer. Clean it well with a soft dry fabric, restart watch and reset data as last resort: unpair, pair again but do NOT restore old data to watch. If it's not fixed after that, it's a hardware issue.

What is digitizer?

AKA Touchscreen.

been there..my stratos acted out like yours too..factory reset or unpair or pairing again to different phones not helping..
so i returned it to the seller and 3 days later i got a new one..

No Pace, Sleep, GPS, and Monitor with Amazfit

Hi everybody!
I just stumbled onto this website and I'm amazed to see how many things I can learn from you guys what to do with my watch. My Amazfit is new, updated, but after the battery dropped dead, I can't seem to access the Sleep, Steps, Compass, GPS, and Monitor.
I am really curious what can I do to make my watch work again, as I found it perfect to my all activities. The sleep function is really important for me as I'm fidgeting at night and I'm under mild medication to sort my problems. This watch was vital for me.
Thanks heaps for any help.
ps: I restarted a few times, I even reset it to factory settings. Every single time I restart it, I get an "Optimising App1, Total 1" message for a few minutes, then I can't access most of its function.
Cheers.
You can see only clockface? I've had that problem that Amazfit got stuck on one pericular watchface, had to change it via phone app, it took some time, and after restart everything was ok. Try that
Sent from my LG-G3 using Tapatalk
Thanks for your reply. It's not stuck on one single face, I can change them. The watch works fine apart from the fact that I can't access GPS, Monitor, Pace and Sleep. Even after restarting, unpairing n pairing, updating etc...
I think you're pretty much in the same boat as me. I'm still trying to figure it out for the past few month when I got into that problem as well. The only time it worked was few days ago, where I went and flashed the Pacified Rom, and back to 1.3.3a. It only worked for about a day or 2 before going back to the problem again. I suggest that since it's new, get it replaced as soon as possible. I've been trying to get mine replaced but my seller is ignoring me and Aliexpress is not much of help.
Isn't there any down/upgrade that would solve this situation?
I mean, I bought it from the same website, no warranty/refund available. That's a pity.
Do you have any tutorial on how you flashed the Pacified Room and back to 1.3.3.a?
Thanks a lot, Alex.

You could retry reinstall firmware perhaps...
Search here how to. (or update with newer firmware)

First you need to unlock the bootloader. To do that, you can have a look at it here.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/amazfit/tutorial-unlock-bootloader-warning-void-t3654011
To flash the rom to PACEfied follow the link here. You could try the latest version .35, but that didn't work for me as I got stuck in the update loop despite using fastboot to continue, so I ended up using version .32. Instructions are all there
https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/amazfit/rom-pacefied-amazfit-huami-amazfit-t3539431
To flash it back to 1.3.3a, go through this link.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/amazfit/tutorial-convert-xiaomi-huami-amazfit-t3532508
Currently trying to repeat the steps I did on how to get everything working minus the GPS running app. Now I'm at .29 of the Pacefied ROM. Waiting for my battery to be completely drain and wait a day before charging it and flash it back to 1.3.3a. Will let you know if it's a success or not.
I've come to a conclusion that this is related to hardware problems. Somehow even draining it for 3 days still didnt' do anything and now the battery doesn't even last up to a day.. Looks like we're pretty much unlucky to get these faulty units. Sad.
Hi Alex! My Amazfit is working fine now, I think by the greatest of coincidence. Let me tell you what happened.
Yesterday I ran out of battery and I chucked in the cradle in order to charge it, but I couldn't see any charging. Then I twisted, rotated and changed its position and nothing happened.
Then I realized the contact plates might be dirty. With a cotton bar and an alcohol pad, I cleaned them thoroughly and guess what, once I restarted the watch it works perfectly.
I'm not sure this is the reason or I've been lucky, but honestly speaking I'm afraid to restart it again. So I will keep charging it religiously avoiding any discharge. My other problem is that I need to get a new phone.
Would I be able to pair my new phone to Amazfit without "restarting to factory settings"?
Thanks.

Sweet. I think I did something similar to clean the plate. But alas mine still doesn't work as we speak. I think restarting it is ok. But because I unpaired it with my phone, the watch went into factory reset that got me back to where it was not able to work. Maybe before you unpair with your current phone, on your new phone try logging in. If it's like the mi band 2, it should prompt you to pair via BT rather than QR code.

[Guide] Battery Drain Issues - Tips for Pace/Stratos

If you don't have a damaged watch, either eventual defect or water damage (remember, Pace is IP67 what means it only resists to eventual water submersion, not shower, not pool, etc, Stratos is OK for swimming, etc, of course), then most probably it's a sync or Bluetooth issue.
Note that all tests are done with stock firmware (no custom ROM) and the correct Amazfit app installed and only the correct one (CN Amazfit for Chinese ROMs and EN one for international Pace). If you have installed any APK, also uninstall them as they may cause problems. If you have unlocked watch's bootloader or flashed another firmware remember that you did it on your own risk, and now your warranty is voided and you cannot return the watch.
First thing to check if watch is good: enabled Airplane mode on your watch and observe battery drain for a few hours using the recommended settings in the end of the post. Make sure there are no alarms configured in the watch. This way the watch cannot use more than 10% of battery per hour. If it does then probably you have a hardware problem. Factory reset watch (it will erase all data on watch) and answer NO when Amazfit app asks if you want to restore old data (it may be corrupted, causing sync to not work and drain battery much faster), then try again. If it is still the same, probably it's defective.
Once you are sure the watch is fine, let's find out what is causing the problem...
Some phones have issues with Bluetooth and WiFi, making syncing with the watch not reliable, so the watch will drain much more battery trying to connect and sync data all the time. You can test this by putting the phone in Airplane mode and enabling only Bluetooth, then check the battery for a few hours. Or test with another phone the same way.
The other cause is a result of corrupted data or problems syncing with either Amazfit or Strava cloud. First, go to watch settings and disable Autoupload, then remove or pause Strava syncing. If this fixes your problem, then you must fix the sync with Strava somehow, maybe reset your data on Strava, create a new account for sync with Amazfit or update data manually.
If it doesn't fix then probably you have errors when opening Amazfit app, it shows a red bar at the bottom instead of a green one when syncing data. In this case you can try to unpair and pair the watch again, and choose NO when it asks if you want to retrieve the old data. If it doesn't help, try unpairing and creating a new account for Amazfit app, then pair the watch using the new account.
To increase battery life (with tips from group members):
- Make sure "continuous heart rate measurement" is OFF on the HR widget (don't worry, it will always measure HR during activities);
- Turn "Auto upload" in watch Settings to OFF;
- Turn brightness to zero when outside (you won't need it in day light);
- Turn "Awake on wrist movement" OFF (awake screen with button or enable double tap in watch settings);
- Use Airplane mode when away from phone and/or auto Airplane mode at night while you sleep (don't worry, it will monitor your sleep even in airplane mode);
- Alarms on watch use a lot of battery even if they are disabled (bug maybe?), so *delete all alarms* on watch if you are not using them;
- Avoid discharging the watch bellow 10%, it's not good for the battery;
- Also avoid leaving the watch on charger for long periods (>24h);
- If you won't use the watch for many days, turn it off with battery > 50%;
- To get actual full charge, leave the watch on charger for more or less 30min after it shows 100% charged to really fill the battery completely with trickle charging;
- If the watch is new, battery will get better after you fully charge it 3-5 times, simply follow the instructions above.
Other tips are welcome. Cheers!
Amazfit Pace Backlight keep lighting even already off setting
can you help if my amazfit pace backlights always turn on when it is lock screen. because of this issue it makes my battery drain fast and it can last for 6hours for me to use. I believe it's software problem makes my watch setting problem. Backlights is always on Even i have adjust the backlights to off mode.
I need help to makes my watch backlights off when it is lock screen to save my battery life. thank you.
Good article
I had a problem with my watches occasional battery drainage. The problem was at a phone side.
There was a bad thumbnail file at DCIM phone directory. File was not readible. After deleting this file phone self restarts were gone and phone battery life was prolonged. Occasional watches battery drainage was also gone.
PS. I found bad file when tried to backup my photos to PC. I can recommend to try to copy all files from your device to somewere else to try to find file system problem instead of commencing device hard reset.

Hello. This seems to be a hardware failure. If you factory reset the watch (warning: it will delete all data on watch, so sync with app first) and it still behaves the same way, then the watch has a hardware failure and it cannot be fixed via software.
Suggestion...
I've had my pace for almost 2 weeks, and was getting about 3 to 4 days were I expected at least 5, since I've never used the GPS nor continuous heart rate monitoring. Also in the first day, it went from 100% to 70% before the night.
I've been reading about battery drain and I think I found the culprit in my case.(less than a day testing the theory)
I've read that problems with Bluetooth communication may cause battery drain. In my case, it's not exactly that the watch disconnected or I didn't receive notifications, but I associated that with the fact that I have a notification filtering app that instructed me to configure it to be excluded from the battery management (android 8).
After I did that with the amazfit app , I've seen a lot less drain.
I offer this as something to try in a similar scenario.
I suffered also under huge battery drain while using external bluetooth hardware with my Stratos (i.e. hr belt).
Yesterday i installed AmazMod on my phone and my Stratos, which modifies the notification system (look up for more information in AmazMod thread).
Today i rode my roadbike about one hour to work and as usual i connected my bt hr belt and battery drain was about 4%... all the other times battery drain was about 20%.
I think that something is messed up with the Stock notification system while connected to an external BT device.
[SOLVED] Battery drain issue for Amazfit Pace
Hi all,
I've finally solved the battery drain issue for my Amazfit Pace I've bought one year ago.
I would like to underline that I've always washed the watch under the shower and also when I washed my hands. The smartwatch is IP67 certified, that means IP67 means the unit can be dropped into a body of water up to a meter deep for half an hour.
My problems raised when I forgot the watch at my hand, during a sea swim. Even if the Amazfit pace is water resistant and the water has not entered into the unit, salt minerals entered into the only hole on the smartwatch: the microphone hole.
When I opened the unit, I've found that all contacts were in perfect condition without any oxide on components and smartwatch internal parts. The small paper placed on the mainboard to verify if water entered inside the smartwatch, had not changed color from blank to red, meaning no water presence.
However, in some way some salt has affected the microphone causing oxidation and short circuit: this is the cause of battery drain.
The microphone is protected by a plastic dress fitting its shape and at the end of the hole there is a thin membrane that should prevent water to enter but maybe is not so resistant to small salt minerals.
I solved the problem washing the microphone with isopropylic alchol and then removing the oxidation residuals with a small tip.
Now the battery discharged in 5-6 days as expected for a normal use in airplane mode.
Considering that microphone function is not so useful because there is no correct and plain translation from chinese to english or other languages, you can think to close the hole with some plastic material or, as I've done, with a small drop of plastic glue in order to close the hole avoiding voice blocking.
I hope my experience can help!
Matteo

He already did:
1. It shows a connection/disconnection alert;
2. You can disabled stock Amazfit notifications and use only the ones from AmazMod, if your setup has a connection/configuration problem this may fix or simply circumvent the issue.

my watch had same problem, so i follow your tips, i removed barometer / microphone module and.. viola.... the battery isue is gone.. 2 days after that battery just drained about 20%.. thanks a lot..
Not working.....
Hello!
I have the same problem,with my Pace, the battery drain fast(10%/h).I removed the mic+barometer unit, but the problem not solved. It's drain like it before. I don's saw any oxidation or water inside, dry and clean everywhere.
I try factory reset, with and without restore data, not connect to phone,etc. I bought is about half year. It's with original firmware, never mod.
Are there any idea, what is the problem?
Upgrade the Stratos Watch with the last release 2.3.10.4.
This is the best tips to get a very good autonomy: 6 full days always connected to the Smartphone but without GPS sports activation.
Before this release, it was limited to 5 days max.
Amazefit pace - battery got drained from daily goal being set to different then 8000
Hi everyone,
I started experiencing battery drop on my amazfit pace like two weeks ago. Performance drop from 6 days on AVG to just 2-3. This happened without having any new updates (both watch and phone). I tried resetting the device + uninstall/install the App on my phone - all without any luck. I was just considering buying a new one when I decided to do a careful retrospective for the past two weeks, especially the period when the problem occur. And then BAAM! The only thing I had changed back then was an increase of my daily goal from 8000 to 10000 steps. I can now confirm this was causing my issue with the battery! Some how the default value (8000 steps) is optimized for battery usage comparing to other "custom" values. Again for me that means 50% off my overall battery life. INSANE!
I hope that helps! And I really hope someone from the support of that device read and double check that (in my opinion bug)
Cheers!

Amazfit pace battery drain issue resolved
Dears, on my amazfit pace I have the same battery drain issue. It takes only one day on full charge. I have factory reset many times but still the same problem.
At last i un installed amazfit pace app from my phone and reinstalled a fresh setup while watch also factory reset the same time. After doing so I reconnected as a new new and fresh with bluetooth, Alhamdulillah my issue resolved all at once. Enjoy :good:
Thanks

amazfit pace after swimming pool, system blocked and blutooth off

Hello everyone, I have an amazfit pace for several months and am very satisfied.
Unfortunately, I forgot to remove it once to go to the pool and I realized under the water ....
Since the touch screen does not work all the time (I have to let it go off without battery to try to restart it), it heats and I can not put it in relation with the application of my smartphone.
I tried a new appearance to reset it to zero after doing a factory reset.
I am at the point where I have the qr code but he tells me that the blutooth is off. and I can not restart it.
and screen shows to air me off it's full of features
Do you have an idea? an advice? Or is my watch dead?
Thank you for your answers
Hi,
The water comes in more easily than it goes out.
It is therefore necessary to open the watch to dry it with a hair dryer. forum.xda-developers.com/how-to-watch-t3815716

Throw it in a zip-lock bag with rice (not instant) for least 24 hours. See if that works. Heat is not really good for most electronics and will cause the moisture to vaporize, which could make it worst.

Amazfit Stratos is a bad sportswatch and a bad product overall

I'm sorry rant ahead. But I've had enough.
I bought the Stratos, because I didn't really like my Mi Band 3 (constant connection problems and almost invisible screen in daylight). I wanted to buy the Bip, but I said, what the hell. Let's go big. Stratos also looks good (Bip does not). The transreflective always on display is also great. But here the good things end.
1. The watch is slooow. Sometimes it doesn't register a touch, and sometimes it registers a ghost touch. The menus are bad, the layout is bad, the navigation is bad (and slow). The watch is also way too thick.
2. The Amazfit app is abysmal. Once the acitivity is recorded, it cannot be edited in any way. Did you press "walking" when you started running by mistake (It can easily happen - see above)? Too bad. You cannot correct it. Amazfit can draw pretty GPS pictures and graphs, but that's about it. And it's so buggy, it's more or less unusable (see below). There is no internet page, like literally every other app has (Strava, Endomondo, Runkeeper), where you could edit the data. There is no homepage. There are no official help forums.
So, even if the watch and app were completely bug free, the whole package would still be, in best case, average. But they are not bug free. And that is an understatement of the century. I've seen buggy apps and gadgets before, but this one takes the cake.
3. When I got the watch, the battery life was a real rollercoaster. The watch could go form 100% to 0 in a few hours or in 5 days. Sometimes reboot or factory reset helped. And that is true for the watch as a whole. Three to four factory resets in a months is (was - it doesn't work anymore -see below) almost necessary for Stratos to work "normally".
4. Caller name on the watch started working with Amazfit app 3. It never worked before. So, this basic (and advertised) functionality started working almost a year after the watch was released.
5. So, you start to run/bicycle/whatever. You choose the appropriate workout, you wait for the GPS, you start, and.... nothing. You are riding a bicycle and the watch says your speed iz zero.
6. You are running, and suddenly you pace starts to drop like a stone. So, I run little below 5.00 min/km. Yesterday I was running, and suddenly I was at 11.00 min/km. Not in reality, just on the Stratos. I always run 6 km, but Stratos measured 4 km. A day before 5 km. I actually ran 6 km, as I know the way. Thank god for Strava, because when I got home and the Strava synced, the running length(and pace) was correct. But only in Strava. Amazfit app and the watch itself got the data wrong. No, I don't know, how that is possible.
7. So, I was bicycling downhill. Suddenly, my hearbeat goes to 160. 170. 180. Am I dying? I feel the chest. Everything is normal. The watch is just acting up again. A few days after that, I was bicycling uphill, usually my heartrate is somewhere around 130-140. Suddenly, for no apparent reason, my heartrate drops. 60. 50. 40. And I am paddling uphill in 35 degrees C! Am I Lance Armstrong? No, It's just the watch.
8. A few days ago heartrate and steps stopped syncing with the app. The watch is at 6000 steps and Continuous HR is on (and seems to work on the watch), but the app is at 0 steps and "no heart rate data. Syncing doesn't help. Rebooting the watch doesn't help. Factory reset doesn't help. Restarting the phone, reinstalling the watch, creating a new account doesn't help.
Let's end this. I paid 160 EUR for this POS. After many months on the market, even the basic functionality of the watch does not work. What does work now, might not work tomorrow, and what works, works badly.
Why are things like this? It's the age old truth: when you buy the product, you don't just buy plastic, steel and glass, you buy a service. You buy programmers, that will get your product running long after you bought it. And that's why Amazfit products just seem cheap. Because you just bought the plastic. Nothing else.
You got a broken watch, claim warranty.
I would also add there might be a problem with your smartphone bluetooth as well. I used Mi Band 1, 2, 3 and now 4. I also had 2 smartwatches and now Stratos. I also changed 2 smartphones and I never ever had connection problems with Mi Band on any version of it. Mi Band for me is by far the most stable bluetooth connection I've ever used on any bluetooth device and I have over dozen various bluetooth devices. Stable connection, along with battery life is why I'm still loyal to Mi Band. I had various situations where I couldn't connect to plain bluetooth speaker, or sometimes even Stratos disconnects and in each case Mi Band connection is the only one that would still be stable. But that is just my personal experience as it's impossible to account for all the different hardware out there.
Agree with you. I have an Verge, which is, till the moment, a money waste.
Software is the problem, let's see if Xiaomi do something.

No, it's Huami's.
Thank you all for replies!
I don't think the watch is broken (in a sense, that warranty should be claimed) and I'll tell you why.
I may have been a little misunderstood in my first post (English is not my first language). The watch doesn't act up all the time. But frequently enough, that it cannot be relied upon. I don't need a watch that works 70 % of the time (which this one does). So, let me add a few things to my points in my previous post:
5. That happened twice (see number 5 in my first post). Rebooting the watch helped. And let me stress again, that it would happen a lot more often, if I didn't reboot or factory reset the watch every time it starts to act up (3-4 times per month).
6. If that was a hardware error (se number 6 in my first post), GPS data would be wrong (this happened only during my last two runs!). But the GPS data that the watch recorded during the run was correct. If it wasn't, Strava would be wrong, too. Activity (run) was measured (interpreted?) incorrectly by the watch and Amazfit app. Strava got the same (raw?) data and it gave correct results (kilometers, pace). If the watch was faulty, the GPS data would be faulty, too. But the hardware, it seems, is fine. Just the software is bad.
7. HR monitoring is just bad on this watch. I don't think I'm the only one that noticed that.
8. Steps and HR data syncing with the app currently works. It started to work the next day. But I noticed something strange. When syncing wasn't working, the Amazfit app said for steps and HR "08/17 19:52" (something like that, I don't remember the exact time). But it was only 11 o'clock! So, the app was claiming, that the last sync with the watch was in the future. Probably that's why it wasn't syncing. And that is not a harware error, it's the software.
So, I don't think the watch is faulty, it's just the software that's bad. That was my point all along. Right now, the watch is working fine. It was working fine yesterday and the day before that, when I was bicycling. But that is not enough. I want a watch that works all the time.
Amazfit stratos 3.0: poor watch
The watch is unreliable, sunset and sunrize notifications come and go without reason. Very disappointing.
You could use my app for sunrise and sunset times.

Amazfit Stratos 3 - Counting issue

H, I am having some issue with my Stratos 3 especially when i am on jump rope mode. The counting sometime reset at 0 and with bizarre timing period. I tried wearing the watch on the other hand with assumption of the buttons are too sensitive with accidental pressing due to wrist movement yet, the problem still occurring. Anyone with same issue of any solution?
I have same exact issue. Not sure when the problem started but just started to notice. I would like to know if there is a work around. Or a good fix. I reset the watch couple of times.
