I am bit confused yesterday when I installed the ClockWorkMod Recovery Touch by Koush, after installing it via the recovery, it was working well but then when I boot again to recovery mode, it returned to the CMW-Based Recovery.
I think the CMW-Based was installed during my first CF-Rooting.
So now, what is the difference between ChainFire's CWM-Based and Koush's CWM Recovery?
TIA
Recovery is linked to the kernel, any recovery you flash independently of a kernel will not persist after reboot.
Non-touch one is old recovery and touch one is new with "touch" as the only difference

I know that mate, but it works once during installation then after booting to recovery again, I am still geting the CWM-Based Recovery instead of CWM-Touch Recovery, make sense?
Also, Chainfire published the CWM-based while Koush's owns the CWM-Recovery.
Have you an app CWM that is touch recovery .
But a CWM and rooted kernel that is an older CWM recovery .

Yes it is the older CWM, I want to replace it with the Touch version, but it will only work once. After installing and reboot again to recovery mode, I am still getting the old CWM.
Root + CWM .

Ok, here's what I have installed - OUDhs CWM Touch Req0very v1.0.3.5 (typing from the actual screen presentation)
I want to install CWM 6.0.4.4. It comes in a .img format. I have the current RomManager apk installed.
Rom Manager says it flashed the 6.0.4.4 version but when I reboot into recovery I still see the OUDhs recovery.
How do I get the 6.0.4.4 installed properly? Odin wants to download from somewhere and I haven't figured out where.

Will try again next week, backup with TWRP recovery worked fine.
EDIT: Same problem again. I think TWRP mode is the problem. CWM mode worked fine. Logs are attached.
BTW, do you have any plans for F2FS? Just seen the option in recovery
boot loop
I've being using this recovery for a while but yesterday, trying to flash a ROM, my phone got stucked.
I pulled out the SD but now, if I try to enter into recovery, only appears the icons in the bottom of the screen but no text and no options. After a few seconds, the phone enters into bootloop.
I've tried to flash again this recovery but the same occurs.
If I flash another recovery as 4ext or twrp, I only get the HTC screen and bootloops.
Flashing again PhilZ, it enters into recovery but again, I can only see the icons in the bottom of the screen!!!
Now I can' restore my previous backup so my phone is useless without the recovery.
Some advice?
Edit: I managed to solve the issue by flashing another recovery. I've tried 4ext an twrp with no success but recovery clockwork touch did the trick. With this recovery I tried to restore some backups but those done with PhilZ has a wrong md5. Then I recovered an ancient one, and once installed, from the market I installed 4ext.
Now is working fine but can't restore the backups performed with Phliz.
Is there any explanation why i loosed the recovery and why I could only solved it installing clockwork recovery?

That may happen when something is wrong in the /cache partition. Philz recovery uses it to store some files.

Thx Johnny. This issue happened when trying to flash latest buidl from mwakious3Drom.
It was impossible to flash with Philz ( I don't remember the error) and when this happened, the SD wasn't recognized having to mount and unmount the SD to get recognized again.
After a few attempts, Recovery failed and I only fixed the issue installing recovery clockwork touch.
Now I'm back to 4ext and I could install mwakious3Drom without any problem.
I'm going to flash your latest awesome LiquidSmoth
Partition SD card
Is it possible to partition the SD card? If yes how, didn't manage to find it..
philz touch recovery Samsung neo I9301I install ?
http://d-h.st/users/Archi/?fld_id=34646#files
You have to download the latest i9300 recovery.
It should be compatible with all the SGS3 variants (as you can see, except for LTE one).
Surely you have got a CWM Recovery (and surely old), so flash the zip file.
tried Rom Manager but could not get it to work
went to clockworkmod homepage
and my tablet am not in the list
does it mean its not supported?
is there any other way to install cwm recovery other than rom manager?
or install custom rom without cwm recovery?
If it's not listed on the homepage then no image file will have being created for you to flash.
Some of the developers know how to edit the Philz touch recovery 6 for the newer kernels.
Would that recovery work for you?

im sry i really had no idea...
so would i able to install any custom rom without cwm recovery?
Well you normally need a custom recovery like CWM, TWRP or Philz touch recovery 6 to install a custom rom, yes.
