Harsh ShandilyaBug reporting:
DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab dmesg . (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues.

Install instructions:
Have an unlocked bootloader, and TWRP installed/booted
(Not gonna be explained here, there'll be threads in this forum somewhere)
Wipe system and data (don't report anything bugs if you dirty flashed over another ROM)
Flash the ROM, GApps, Magisk, or any other mods (again, don't report bugs if you can't reproduce them with just ROM and GApps)
Reboot into the system, and enjoy the illusion!

Should be the same as with most custom ROMs, but haven't tested myself, I'm always unencrypted with Magisk.
Superb. So derpfest will be officially closed?

Why would you think that would be so? derpfest is another project that is based off AOSiP. They're not 100% synced with each other and they tend to do some stuff differently.
Can I ask who the maintainer is for dumpling?
The release is solid. Performing great so far.
And yeah, It is encrypted. FBE or FDE that I'm unable to figure out.

Welcome.:fingers-crossed:
This rom is the first time where EAS feels right. I feel like I'm jumping into the future with every keystroke. Haven't been this excited about a rom in a while - this one is worth your time.

Someone told me that if it's the same maintainer, then he won't talk very much. He kind of just releases things without any notification.
I was told he reads all the xda messages, he just may not respond to messages. It's a pain in the ass for all of us, but the goodness of the rom overcomes any communication issues. This is really good rom.

I guess you meant EAS? XD
It does feel right. The overall rom is really good. Balanced options for customization. Not so less that it feels barebones and not so much that it gets overwhelming, just the right amount. It's smooth too. For now, I have one query.
What does the "Left/Right shortcut also unlocks" option do in Owl's Nest>>Lockscreen>>Lockscreen Shortcut. Does it allow to use the designated shortcut app without unlocking the phone? If yes then it's not working that way.

Those options likely mean that it unlocks AND does the action you assigned. If you turn off those two options, then it shouldn't unlock I believe.

It seems your lockscreen isn't setup or is unlocked by some other means smartlock maybe.
I have my fingerprints setup. Doesn't unlock this way.

No, I just have swipe set. It would be insecure to use auto unlock through swipe. You have to put a pin in first before unlocking. Makes no sense otherwise imo. If you want a locked phone, then I don't think that feature is accessible. You have to use swipe only protection.

In works on OOS. The camera app is accessible via a swipe on the lockscreen even while having a pin setup. I guess it worked on Omni also for me when I was using that.

The camera alone is accessible because it has a mode where it only shoots new pictures and doesn't give you access to older photos. There might be other apps that have that kind of behavior, but it's very rare.

I can't get the stock cam or gcam to work, and I don't know why. It's worked in the past. I'll try different cams and let you know if something works.

OK so before we start let me make something abundantly clear, I am posting this up here on behalf of the Vanir AOSP team, as their ROM is awesome, and it took me longer than the first google to locate it etc etc. There is a link at the bottom of how to find them on G+ and communicate directly with the team. THIS POST ONLY TO CONVEY FILE LOCATIONS FOR OTHERS WHO WISH TO TRY THIS ROM. I will keep it uptodate so that anyone on the S3 can get to it.

Vanir was founded on the premise of performance tuning Android. It is based on AOSP, but include features (many of which have been rewritten to be more efficient) from other ROMs.
The webkit, chromium, and skia are aosp/master merged with codeaurora, with linaro fixes on top.
BY LINARO, it means "-O3 -fstrict-aliasing".... not just switching toolchains. At Team Vanir, THEY GO HARD.
Youtube video of 4.4.2 (old)

Do you have a stable release? Which version should I use, which is stable and there is no problem?

Commotio is a second rom built on the base of Vanir AOSP. Essentially it is the same underneath, but some people prefer the extras it has. Install either ROM and see which one you prefer yourself. AFAIK all the latest releases are stable.

It was me who reported not working i9305's version
I tried once to grab a logcat and it didn't work, terminal continously waiting for device, while phone was looping Samsung logo. Is there any other way to do it? I will try anyway, maybe this time it will work...
Or.. would a logcat with a custom kernel help a little bit? Even if it booted there was not working cell network. However, then at least I could log anything
Apart from that.. What do you think about a feature to "swipe notification/app from recents to left to open it in floating window"? I think it gives great multitasking possibilities, somehow replacing halo (in my opinion).

You need to grab a log with adb
Just like when you root your phone with a USB cable to your computer... but type adb logcat

i tried both but apart from some visual differences I could not find any difference.. commotio B70 is still little unstable . i have applied a theme and the in call UI is crashing.. Vanir is comparatively more stable.
Any chance you could use a different naming convention for the nightly Commotio Roms only the past 4 or so that I have downloaded all have the same filename which makes it difficult to identify which is the newer one in CWM when installing and I want to keep the older ones in case something doesn't work. (and before someone replies with a smart comment about deleting or renaming them via a file manager app manually, I am aware thank you but sometimes you just want to flash...) Possibly add the date of compilation into the filename? Thanks.

Ehh.. I've tried to do it, but I got no log. The sad truth is that I couldn't get any logcat until the phone boots When it boots with my other configuration, logcat worked.

Just saw 'atomic derpage'
Downloading, will get the answer in a while.
#EDIT
Yeah, finally it works! Pretty damn probability was really high today
Now it's time for testing. Maybe it's not THAT feature-packed like other roms here, but vanir definitely has its own taste
#EDIT2
Few interesting things that might be added to vanir:
- statusbar's clock needs a date next to it (not to feel lonely)
- slimrom's heads up (because they are taking heads up experience to a completely new level) with an option to launch it in floating window (just imagine these multitasking possibilites!!!) and reasonable 'disable on lock screen' feature
- why not to extend multitasking possibilities more and more? https://gerrit.paranoidandroid.co/#/c/4219/
- these are less spectacular, however still might be useful: adding ios-like carrier label in statusbar, battery qs tile showing whether you are charging with AC or USB, removing unneeded keyguard test activites (why would we need something useless?)
I know that vanir isn't such kind of a ROM that you ask for something and simply get it. However, these pointed changes may only improve its greatness and probably encourage more people to use it and stick with it. Also, you developers should feel the difference after applying some of these features

Man you'll be extremely surprised how loaded this ROM is. It's nothing like it trust me. Transitions are wicked. No need to side loading extra mods.
I liked that on my S3 but I never know why can't uninstall their forum app so not sure if now is included by default too.
Not trying to be rude but what's up with the 4.4 screenshots?

Yeah does are still present. They be removed with root explorer.
It's a must cause this ROM is extremely popular in China. That's there main side loading app store. I'll post a link that explains. It's like T-Mobile apps in a T-Mobile phone etc.

I read on they're official website you can. I could be mistaken, but the it's removed any other blast ware.. They're just apps, some not so much.
Re: faux kernel
I haven't flash it yet. I have been running the built in kernal. Which haven't given me any issues. I would check in faux kernel thread with other users running 5.0.2.
Mokee isn't fully cm12 they 88ooadd a ton of mods and a script or two from the jump. (build - bot)
Let me take to this moment go be clear and transparent. I am a semi_advanced user. I know a couple developers that would do personal side bar favors. I just wanted to bring the Mokee experience to the Nexus 6 aka shamu aka apex_predator users and audience. I've been using it since Galaxy Nexus to Nexus 5 dayz.
I am not a developer, this thread was a built to maintain, update and share with N6. Small team on standby to assist the best way possible (together).
Enjoy

Did you do a clean flash? System/Data/Cache(s)².?
I don't believe bootloader version have any things to with it. Maybe if you coming from 5.1

Yeah sure. It worked out just fine for me. But do flash the Radio and Bootloader. Alternatively you could also install 5.1 as a primary ROM by downloading kexec.c patched kernel available at the MultiROM developer's website updated specifically for 5.1.
As of now I have Chroma 5.1 as Primary and Bliss 2.1 and Rastapop 5.1 as secondaries.
This ROM contains the MoKeeMarket.apk this is a 3rd party app store known for spreading warez, as such it is against the rules.

Not a problem. I see you might be new to the forums so I wanted to give you a heads up. Please don't speak badly of other roms in my threads or any threads really. We all put a lot of time in them & do it for free as a hobby mostly, but still many hours can go into one single build. You have done nothing wrong but I wanted to mention this before you might bash on another rom. Also keep in mind that my builds are Beta as with most 6.0 roms so you will find bugs in them. Please don't get discouraged at what I wrote, it's just a respect thing we like to show. Thanks for flashing this too. I am not sure if the GSM variant will have cell service or not but you'll soon find out. If you would share your findings we would all appreciate it.

I used to flash phones myself and have noticed that the newer devices work much better with sense roms or whatever came stock on them. I'm not trying to steer you away from any roms here but usually things work much better after new android versions become more stable.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 8.1 (Oreo), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Reporting Bugs
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg.
Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

I'm having a problem after installing this ROM on my phone.
My cell phone has PIN locking before starting and after the TWRP reset, it is not recognizing the PIN I have always used.
Does this have anything to do with the bug in android 8 that I've heard people commenting on mobile phones pixels?
If anyone can, explain to me what I should do or at least what I did wrong.
great Rom, so far. Any recommendations for 8.1 Gapps?

Guys, I've noticed that this LineageOS 15.1 has the same issue that all LineageOS 14.1. The issue is that when I'm hearing WhatsApp audios close to my ears, every notification sound comes out loud from the speaker. I have tested the Pixel Experience ROM and it doesn't happen with it. Is there anyway to fix that, as some configuration or option to enable/disable?

There's some usefull things you may need to know before installing the ROM.
- Make sure you're running the lastest firmware (12.0.3 or above)
- TWRP (mauronofrio) or LOS Recovery should work fine for installing it.
- GApps are not includded.
- I straghtly suggest you to use the grey color for Fingerprint
We hope you enjoy it
Best regards.

ATTENTION

Wow great
Happy to see Roms are coming .. thanks for the ROM
WOW that was fast!, didn't expecte to be release so fast! Awesome well done Team, thanks for your hard work. I am glad the crowd funding turned out well

OK, I love your work, but this ROM Auto brightness is just not working.
You can Slide the Brightness slider all you want but nothing happens. It's stuck on high, I was able to get it to refresh to a lower setting by moving the slider to the lowest setting and going dark mode but after a few second it went back to high.
fingerprint is also absolute hit or miss. otherwise wow.
Please fix these 2 issues.
I used LOS Recovery and Formatted data and came from a fresh booted 12.0.8 and 12.0.3.
Thanks for the hard work!
Can we really format System? It's not advised by anybody.

I will try to fix this as soon as possible, but for now, the brightness bug is a common problem in LOS-based ROMs.

To install the ROM, I recommend that you make a clean flash, but you can keep the internal memory.

I also hope to correct it soon.
The Los rom, Evo x, pixel, and crdroid don't have the brightness issue.
Hi everyone, looks like a custom ROM is the point thing to save this pos phone. Can someone please help with these questions :
- does the custom ROM allow 5G on one sim and 4G on the other?
- since its android pixel based does the Google recorder and transcription work?
Thanks
Recorder works, can't comment on 5G

I think most of people like MIUI, so survival of this model is not a problem.
Don't be confused by the fact that you (and me, too) don't like MIUI.
Sorry for the off-topic

I am really glad the crowdfunding worked out and we have another dedicated ROM developer onboard! Looking forward to test Android R
BTW, have you received the phone and managed to unlock it?

Unfortunately it didn't arrive yet.
I bought it from China (AliExpress), I'm waiting it to arrive in the middle of November.
But working with a Team I can contribute even without the device. (Slowly but works)
For now, me, Oliver, Raysteff and Carlos Ayrton are working together for fixing all remaining bugs on Android Q. But since we already have a stable MIUI with Android 11 vendor we can start working on Android 11.
I dont have options to wipe system in my TWRP, I am on weekly build , do I need to go to Stock Rom?
