Does anyone know a solution? I have the mi 9 se and in a lot of apps the top of the screen where the notch is turns black. There isn't this problem on the mi 9t because it doesn't have a notch, but is there a way to make it full screen all the time?
Yes, I think almost all devices with notch can have option to make full screen starting right below the notch. I recently purchased Samsung's latest model M30s and it possible to have a notch-free display.
Just move to your display setting and search for enable/disable notch. That's it.

I may not have expressed myself well. I want the notch to be there all the time, the problem is a lot of apps make the screen start below the notch.

Just got my poco f1 today. Just feels awkward and not at all snappy.
When I try to scroll up/down using my thumb (one handed use) either near the left or right side of screen, the scroll isn't smooth at all.
Try doing this on a xda page in chrome or launcher app drawer.
Try a quick scroll using thumb. Page gets scrolled a little bit and then stops. Doesn't scrolls much.
Works well when you scroll near middle of the screen
Is this a common issue or only I am facing this
My poco scrolling senstivity is bad as well. Dont know if poco/xaomi can fix this with an update. Very anoying!

I was dead against buying Xiaomi cheap products. Bought Redmi 1s, returned. Bought Redmi note 4, returned.
Despite that seeing the VFM and reviews went for Poco this time and same disappointment. Poor and cheap quality hardware.
Don't know whether FK will replace or not. Technician visit scheduled. It is tough to explain and convince those technicians without any knowledge about these kind of issues

I got my phone in first flash sale on Flipkart, and lemme tell you, this scroll smoothness thing as improved a little after a couple of UI updates.
I don't know if it's really a hardware issue. But till now I've not seen a single user reporting this issue on a custom ROM. Not in my knowledge.
Though, you can make it work better for you by setting the value of Window animation, transition animation and Animator duration scale to Animation off. These options are available under drawing's sub-menu in developer options.

You can't convince technicians. I once tried and he just refused to accept it. He will come and just open the hardware touch test screen and will show you that everything is working. You can also test it by going in about phone in settings and tap several times on kernel version (something like 4.9.xxx) and a new screen will pop up, now go to tuch screen and test it.
One more thing is this can't be minimized by reducing animation scale and you are not the only one facing this issue.

May be this video could help you to convince the technician, though the chances are really less.
The video clearly shows that scrolling on right side of screen is slower and less smoother than the scrolling done from mid screen.
Just got the open beta 8.12.13 OTA, following are the observation :-
1) Keyboard lag is minimized.
2) Scrolling near edges is improved but still buggy near bezels.
3) YouTube picture-in-picture mode doesn't work in full screen gesture mode in poco launcher home screen.
4) Screen flickering in lock screen is gone but further need to be tested.
4) Icon refresh is still there when minimizing any app.
5) Back gesture now works properly when any app folder on home screen is open.
6) Tuch delay of back button of navigation Bar is gone.
7) Touch sensitive of screen is bit improved.
8) Something flower like icon is added in left bottom of lockscreen.
9) Notification icon is same it was in previous beta.
Replacement accepted. After receiving the new unit, again need to apply for return and refund. Not sure if they will accept next time.
Just don't want to keep this phone.
Will go for lower specs but better quality.
Still suffering with Lenovo Z2 Plus which also at its time launched with flagship specs at less price.
I do not have much free time like I used to have earlier to troubleshoot such issues and try different custom roms. Need a phone with stable stock rom and good build quality.
Xiaomi quality is cheap and will never improve
Update: Replaced and then again returned. Got refund. Relaxed now.
Will never buy Xiaomi phone again.
Will pay bit extra and go for Nokia 8.1 or OnePlus 6T. Will wait for next offer or price drop.
Quality over Quantity always.
I had the Mate 20 at launch and ended up returning it for the screen bleed issues, I decided at that point to switch to the Note 9 but have always had half an eye on the Mate. I really enjoyed but could not past the screen issue and bugs at the time.
I was always pretty confident that the screen issue and other bugs would work themselves out but the one annoyance that I am less hopeful of Huawei fixing/improving is the always on display which in it's current form it is IMO pretty useless. The reason I doubt it will improve is it has not changed at all from last years Mate 10 pro which points to it being something that is not high on Huawei's list of priorities. Honestly if they did put a proper AOD on there I'd probably pick one up again.
What do you think? Will they improve it all or will we have to wait for next years Mate 30?
The screen bleed issue was never a defect--screen bleed is normal with a folded OLED display. Samsung phones including the Note series do not use folded OLED displays.
Your long post is pretty pointless since you don't give any indication of what you think is wrong with the AOD on the M20P and what you would consider an improvement.
I'm fine with the AOD on my phone but I haven't had a Samsung phone in a few years. You might be looking at differences between Touchwiz (is that still Samsung's Android skin?) and EMUI.
Neither Samsung nor Huawei phones run stock Android. If you are looking for a Samsung specific software mod it isn't likely to turn up on Huawei phones.

Most always on displays show more than just phone calls and sms messages. I'd like to see notifications from other apps. It's not a major deal for me but it would be nice. It's not just Samsung phones that implement a better aod experience. Like I said I'm not gonna ditch the phone because of it but it would be nice if they allowed it to show more notifications.

No 3rd party app support is what I was referring to, so whatsapp, email (even with the built in app), Facebook, Twitter, etc etc so not show on the always on display, makes it pretty pointless IMO, YMMV.
It was not the reason I returned the phone of course but my time with the M20 proved to me how much the AOD is a feature I really appreciate. LG, Samsung and Google all have very good AOD's.
The last Google phone I had was the Pixel XL which I don't think had AOD or an AMOLED screen.
Do Google, Samsung and LG AODs show full notifications or app icons when you get notifications?
This is the first phone I have used with AOD so I have nothing to compare it to.

The green hulk screen was absolutely a defect. And my replacement does not have it, nor does my wife's Note 9. a slight hue around the curved edges with the polarizer can be normal, however Samsung has seemed to figure this out on their curved screens. The green was not a product of a curved polarizer. It was something else. And progressively got worse over time. the curves polarizer creates a different color view from an angle. this is what you see when you have a white background and tilt the screen left and right. It happens less on Samsung screens.

Yes, other phones do present more info, but I've not used it too much
I had the original pixel XL, and I'm pretty sure it did have an OLED screen. I think the always on display was an option, but it's been a while so I'm not 100%.
Would be also nice to have clocks with different time-zones on the AOD, like samsung does it...
I don't think we'll see added support for this as AOD will rely on running a process for each app in the background. As most of you know, that isn't the Huawei way and probably explains why it doesn't exist already.
yes huawei focuses on the screen resolution from the previous one mobile..

I understand it'll not be a ring but a rectangular light on screen, similar to that of Samsung OneUI notch series.
Please suggest if you know of some app.
OP will be updated with list (and mention credit) once I start receiving replies with working apps.

New entry is up! Check OP!
I recently bought pre-owned Mate 20 Pro UK version with BOE display.
There are quite alot watermarks on every screen that comes across and visible only in white background. Pictures attached (couldn't get better quality pics).
These 3 watermarks are spread over top, middle and lower side of the screen. After looking closely i could read "Huawei Mate20 Pro" written on top of the screen along with few other marks as well. Couldn't get the visible enough picture of the middle area hence not showing here. On the lower side of the screen, there seems to be 3 marks those resembles the camera snap button, Gallery Open button and Front Camera button.
Do anyone know about this strange phenomenon? Is it only me or anyone else has got something similar?
I was on EMUI 9.1 before updating to EMUI 10 few days back. It was the same case with EMUI 9 as well.

There are some apps that repeatedly can cycle various colors to cause wear on the other pixels in attempt to make screen more even.
Use these with caution.
Other than that, no. A screen replacement is the only solution. Screen burn in is the result of pixel wear.

Thanks for the response.
I think i'll have to live with it. Its not creating any problem though.
So I did a screen test using Four fingers multi-touch. The first one is my old Op3T showing all four traces clearly. The second is my Poco showing first two fingers (to touch screen) clearly and other two are faint lines.
Both phones running same android 10 ROM setup and latest firmware. Tried different ROMs on Poco, same issue. Any ideas?
Yep
Happened with me too
Compared it with OnePlus 7T though
Btw Am having Nvt panel on my poco
I'm having no such issues on my Poco.
I've seen a lot of threads regarding Poco display. From day one to now I haven't faced any issues with poco like low sound, poor network, light bleed etc.
However I do have one issue that is image retention. If I am on a website with static fixed colors and I open an app with white screen, the previous page can be seen. But this is only temporary and goes away after 15 seconds.

That's great, are you on stock or custom Rom, what's your setup?
Image retention-perhaps live display needs some tweaking.

NVT here too.
I don't have ghost touch or serious issues. But the general touch experience is not as good as even an old phone like Oneplus3T.
Disable three finger screen shot and your ghost touch fix
I try on stock rom and its working

I'm on CR custom rom, but actually all my gestures are disabled. The issue isn't ghost touch, i dont have it. For daily use it's fine.
It's just the quality of touch screen as seen on the screen test in OP is sub par.

Fully Stock MIUI 11 (Android 10)
Since its LCD there's no option (nor needed) to have Live Display or Ambient Display. The image retention began about two months ago. It is not consistent. Sometimes the image retains for about 5 seconds, sometimes there's no retention at all. Since this is LCD I don't need to worry about burn in. And even if burn in is possible on LCD I frequently move the UI in different places.
I have a 2013 Moto X as well as a Moto G
I have compared the panels from those phones with my Poco and I see no problems at all. All touches are fine and there is no ghost clicks.
Almsket every day there is a new post about display issues... I guess I'm just lucky to be in the few who don't have any problems.
