long press-hold vibrates - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

When i press-hold the play store app, I get a submenu of "My apps", and it takes me to the update apps page of the play store. During that press hold, my phone vibrates one short brrrr.
Does that happen to anyone else? How can I disable it? I've looked through the settings.

[Q] Why are google apps broken?

My sister got a nook tablet a few weeks ago and I helped her get Go Launcher and Google Apps including the play store. Everything was fine but she called me last night with problems. Most of her apps on the Go Launcher home screen were in the "Loading" state with just an android icon. When she would open the Play Store it would tell her she needed to add her Google Account and pressing the button to add an account would dump her back on Go Launcher. Gmail also dumps her straight to her home screen. She also mentioned something about Go Launcher saying she should try relaunching Go Launcher. After a couple restarts I wasn't able to make any progress on the phone.
So, before I make my trip out to see her, what are some potential culprits? It sounds like the accounts app broke but I don't know how or why.

You're thinking of Google Docs. I'm referring to the generic Google Apps for Android which includes the Play Store, Gmail, Talk, and more.
Try clearing the cache from both Google Play and Google Services Framework, and then reboot.

How can I do this? There is no application management menu in the settings like on normal android.
Turns out the nook tablet updated itself to 1.4.2 even though I had the 9.9.9 version "fix". Why did it update? How can I prevent it in the future aside from loading a custom rom?

[Q] "OK Google" Hotword detection removed?

OK, I know a few days ago in the Google App/Settings I was able to toggle on "OK Google" hotword detection "From the Google app," "From any screen", and "personal results."
I happened to be in the Google settings last night and noticed I now only have one option - "From the Google app" and missing the other two! Has this happened to anyone else? I'm on the latest version of the Google app (4.4) but even if I uninstall updates (reverts to 4.0), I'm still missing those options.
EDIT: Sorry. I thought I was in Q&A when posting this. Feel free to move it.

Really? Ugh, that's so frustrating to hear (tho I'm happy for ya, especially if you use it! lol). I even went so far as to factory reset and it still doesn't show! I wonder what's different. I'm completely stock, never rooted or tried to. Are you using the touchwiz launcher or google now launcher?
stock 5.0.2 not rooted and touch Wiz
Mine is missing as well. Went to plug it in last night and ask what weather was gonna be like today when the screen was off. Kept getting no answer so looked in settings and it was missing. What the heck.

Hate to say it but glad I'm not alone! Factory reset doesn't solve it. Sucks. I hate S Voice lol. Much rather use Google Now.
yep gone about 2 days ago :crying:
lol.. now it's also gone here.. strange..
Yes, gone for me too! Spent an hour last night googling solutions. Only thing I found was literally say "OK Google everything" inside Google now but that didn't work for me.
Verizon here..

Samsung on twitter just said this was removed / it's no longer a feature. Returning in 3...2...
Here's a workaround if you want to get the "Ok Google" functionality back that was removed thanks to the latest update.
Go into the Settings menu on your phone
Select "Applications" and then select Applications Manager"
Scroll to the right until you find the "All" column
Scroll down until you see "Google Search" then open it
Select "Uninstall Updates" and the app will revert back to the pre-loaded version of the app which has the "Ok Google" functionality
Also, make sure you open the play store app through your phone and find the Google app and go into it so you can deselect the "auto update" box in settings. That will prevent the play store from auto updating to the current version. Of course if an update comes out that works for you then you can manually update it in the play store or re-select auto update.
Hope this helps...

Doesn't work for me... uninstalled updates, still can't set up ok Google from any screen.
This didnt work for me,,,might have to do with a play services update.
What I ended up doing was adding the Google widget to the home screen. But that only works on the page of the home screen.
Doesn't work for me either. Have not found a way to get it back. Where the Samsung tweet BTW? Did they say why it was removed?

How do I do a file system or profile migration so I can install Google Play store??

I am considering buying a Samsung Chromebook 3 which based on the following link can support Android apps. Now, the issue is that it says that one must do a file system or profile migration in order to support the apps. However, I cannot find any information on how to do this migration. Google has instructions for Education and Enterprise customers but nothing for regular consumer.
How do I do this? I, of course, Googled how to do this and I end up with nothing. I need to know how I can install the Google Play store and run Android apps. I have instructions on how to install Google Play but nothing on the migration that according to Google is required.
Please help!
I have a Chromebook 3 and am running Android apps with no issue. It's fairly simple to do and now only requires the steps here: https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/get-android-apps-on-your-chromebook in a nutshell, this simply involves first open settings -> select about > under or around the "check for updates" button, click the "More info" link. An option will be presented to change to the beta channel. Select that and wait for the update to download and install (in my experience, the beta channel is way better than the stable channel anyway). After you restart, go right back to Settings, and scroll down until you see the checkbox for enabling the Google Play Store. Agree and sign in using your Google account. That's it. I've enjoyed using many Play Store apps seamlessly on the Samsung Chromebook 3.
Solution found
After half an hour on Google chat and Asus I got an answer. Very simple.
1) Click on your user picture in the lower right
2) Click the Settings cog
3) Scroll down to the easily missed "google play store" section. It's the seventh section down on mine and is only a single line section.
4) Click on "turn on"
Then just wait for it to do it's thing. It will take a minute or two and then will launch the Google Play Store app. Mine came up and said it wasn't responding but I clicked on "wait" and it popped up about 5 seconds later. I was able to install 2 "android" apps right off the bat. Super easy and quick. I hope this helps others searching for this answer.
Incidentally...if you don't have a touch screen Chromebook it seems that the arrow keys do your swyping for you in android apps. Kind of counter-intuitive though...I had to use the right arrow to "swype" LEFT. But it wasn't too difficult to figure out.

Force Android Wear Background Colour? Wear 2.8

Hi all,
I sideloaded the Wear 2.8 update on my Asus Zenwatch 3 (which is OLED) and was pretty annoyed that I have no black background!
No idea if it really saves battery but I prefer the black look.
I'd like to modify the apk to have a proper black background but I don't know if it's possible.
Anyone able to help me?
Thanks..
What version of 2.8 is it? I feel like there was maybe one before the black background. I'm on 2.8.0.18. The only things I could suggest would be to manually check for updates in the google play store on your watch and try rebooting if it looks like you are on the latest one. (I had one user say my wear apps background changed after rebooting)
Can you explain how to get 2.8 on my Wear24? lol
Once 2.8 shows up in Play store for your account it will be available for update on your phone and then eventually sync slowly over Bluetooth to the watch to be available for your watch.
It took over a week for the update to be available on my account.

lol i wish I could tell you....my play store stays open for about 5 seconds and then crashes. Can't download anything to my watch or even stay in it long enough to answer your question. I have factory reset multiple times and tried a variety of option toggling. It's quite frustrating

Are you sure it is not just going into ambient mode? When the watch goes to ambient mode in the play store, it will go back to the watch face. You could try continually tapping the screen to see if it eventually loads.

Question Play store "install" button not working

The "install" button on the play store doesn't respond to clicks. It acts like the button is being blocked by something. I thought maybe it was draw over other apps that was blocking it, but other things work. I can sideload apps, & the install button works too install them, which never worked for me on past phones. I also have an app called "join". It requires you to login with Google to use it. I can click the "login with Google" button, but when I try to actually click on my account it doesn't work. What could be causing it & how do I fix it? I had already installed several apps before this started, so I don't understand what caused it.
Have you tried downloading one of the many Play Services Updater apps to see if maybe the Google PS app has an update you may have not been aware of? If you haven't go ahead and give it a shot. Reboot the phone if there is an update and you installed it.
If there is no update and all you see is Deactivate as the option for GPS on the Play Store, then I would go and clear data for Google Play Services, Play Store, and Google Services Framework, reboot then try again. If not, perhaps logging off your account entirely then clearing those apps data again. Ultimately if that doesn't do it, a device reset might be in order.
