Move RIL from one rom to another - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I tried some custom roms on my MEIZU M6 note (snapdragon 625) and I reallly liked the "ViperOS" rom but its LTE 4G network runs very slowly (1 Mbps).
I already tried all the Sim cards settings but nothing works, i think it's because this rom was built from a chinese rom.
is it possible to extract the modem files (Radio interface layer RIL) from another custom rom that gets full-speed 4G (Crdroid rom by ups2k) :
MOD EDIT: Links removed as violative of XDA's Rule 11.

is it possible to extract the "RIL" (baseband configuration) from a custom rom that have full speed LTE network and put it onto another chinese custom rom to speed up the data connexion?
Both roms are Android 7.1.2
Someone who knows ?

so this is sammy rom. why the kernel or gapps download, its not intergrated?
also. Im keen to try this rom. how much "chinese/asian" characters are still floating throughout the rom and unable to remove? bloatware?
high risk of brick?
is there any bugs or issues in this rom ?
and if so what are they ?
and is the WiFi working on the n7105 or not ?
yes everything is working only bug i found was to enable grayscale mode on power saver is to go into agni control found MDNIE HIJACK and turn it off
the sock kernel will not boot up the phone for some reason dont know why justed flash the kernel in dowload link after flashing rom you will be good not sure why gapps wasnt added in to rom i might add it on next update as for other i will see what can be remove without messing the rom up i been running this rom for a week without any problems flash it and give it a try
add air command
this rom is really awesome. just 2 things. it is a pity that the baidu keyboard is mostly in chinese. it seems like a very good one.
and the other thing is that my gps isn't working. I recently switched from a n7100 to a n7105. is there anything I have to look for? It also didn't work on the s5 rom for n7105.. I already flashed the newest modem available for my country. That is most likely the reason why the included compass app force-closes
Does somebody have any advice?
thanks in advance. and miui is quite enjoyable, thanks lanc-city (and gtbluesky)
edit: gps is working fine on aosp/cm roms though

thank you very much. I will try to grab a log tomorrow.
Edit: I couldn't see anything helpful in the logs but here they are anyway.. Those uncaught remoce exceptions occur all the time but they probably aren't related to gps in any way.
edit2 after applying the lte patch for n7100 n7105 gps works but com.android.phone crashes nonstop. so it is probably just a matter of finding and swapping the right system files I hope
fixed gps
[updated rom 5.10.19 fixed gps and compass....
thank you very much. weird that this thread is so quiet. guess most poeple moved onto newer devices but I really appreciate your port!

since u don't need automatically connection between 2.4ghz n 5ghz

I am getting into a bootloop ... any guidance on how to correct this
(I am able to flash DN4, the CM version of MIUI and all ROMS suitable for N7105)
you are going to have to edit your Widzard Kernel to add miui setting. if you send me a link to the kernel i can see if add the settings to see if it works

UMI C1 - GPS not working in ported ROM

Hi everyone,
few days ago i've started reading about porting ROMs to different devices because i have free time and i'm interested in such stuff. I've successfully ported a CM12 based ROM (resurrection remix, lollipop 5.1.1.) to my MT6582 UMI C1. But the problem that i'm facing is that the GPS isn't functional. It works fine if i use WIFI assisted GPS (battery saving or high accuracy option) but when i use the device's GPS (device only option) it just won't get a fix. I've used GPS test app to check what's happening, and all 'i see' is 9-13 satellites but none is actually being locked onto. Also CM12 doesn't have com.mediatek.lbs.em (location based services) or YGPS.apk. I've tried 4-5 custom ROMs and none of them had those apps. Kitkat did have those and i was able to check the SNR of the GPS reception per satellite.
In previous ROM (kitkat 4.4.2) GPS worked very good, especially when i've installed modified gps.conf into /system/etc
I was able to get a lock within seconds.
SO...
I've ported zImage (a.k.a. kernel?) from stock boot.img to port boot.img, compiled it and done few other file replacements in port ROM to make my ROM working.
I am not a programmer or a coder. All I do is read/copy/paste/ and enjoy what I've done. I don't sell the stuff I do. It's all just for me. But I can (and know how to) use notepad++ to replace lines in ROM's files so if you know a solution please share it with me :fingers-crossed:
So far all stock ROMs for my phone (UMI C1) are missing all files in /system/lib/modules and i've read that i should replace mtk_stp_gps.ko from PORT with one that is located in STOCK. So there has to be another fix, my phone worked fine without it.
Thanks in advance and i hope we'll find a solution.
Got the same problem porting MIUI 7 / 8 to mtk 6582. Have you found a solution?

InnJoo i2 - [6.0.1] [STABLE][AOSP] Slim6 v0.9

[6.0.1] [STABLE][AOSP] Slim6 v0.9 For i2
(Spl thanks to Ajit_The developer)
For InnJoo i2 [DUAL SIM FUNCTIONAL]
I am not the original developer so I do not take any credit in making this ROM
This ROM has been powered by http://mtkroms.com
the original ROM can be found at - http://www.mtkroms.com/2016/08/aosp-slim-rom-marshmallow-mt6592.html
SlimM for i2 is an aftermarket ROM made by the best in the class devs who prefer simplicity in their work. Hence, the name Slim. SlimROM for i2 is based on Google AOSP and it tries to keep it as stock as possible without much features which normal users don't want to use. Thus, creating a powerful ROM which packs a punch of performance, battery life and simplicity. Definitely recommended for people who don't want much features from their ROM but just want simplicity and performance. You can use layers in this ROM as all AOSP 6.0.1 ROMs support layers but layers manager is not added by default, you can download "Layers Manager" app from play store in order to use layers. This ROM is compiled from source by Ajit Guraya
USSD, Calls, SMS, Bluetooth and other needed features are working in this ROM and it can be used as a daily driver. This is one of the most stable Marshmallow ROM
Hi All,
I am Pleased to announce that MM6.0.1 based SLIM6 Rom (as is popularly know as AOSP SLIM) is now available for our InnJoo i2 .
The ROM has been tested extensively and almost everything is working fine including GPS, USSD, Apps, Heavy Games etc.
I am sharing the ported rom for you.
Here is the link:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3qo1NHCkeAlNG9uZkV4alpmNVk
Instructions:-
1. Please use only Philz or TWRP recovery, haven’t checked on CWM (I use Philz)
2. Please have a full nandroid backup of your current rom before you flash
3. Copy ROM & GAAPs on SD Card
4. Please ensure you are doing a clean install of the rom. Check advance wipe/Erase all, except SD card
5. After install the ROM, flash GAAPS and then let the ROM boot up.
6. Let the ROM boot up, it will take 6-8 minutes. Once it boots up you will see optimising apps screen notification.
7. After boot up, set the device and SD card (in MM Roms, you need to check approve access for SD card)
8. You can install Xposed zip and other Mods you feel fit.
9. Happy flashing
Below is the link for the original ROM and GAAPS

Please feel free to visit and thank the developer
I am using my own version of BENZO Gaaps,
Here is the link - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3qo1NHCkeAlbElpc3hhT0xkRFE
No Major Bugs
USSD code is working
SMS working
3G working
Camera (Front) working
YouTube partially working
Ok Google Mic is working
Off Mode charging is working
Battery removal, changing sims, low battery off will not result in Boot loop so no more wipe cache required
BUGS
Back camera not working for me, maybe will work on your device
YouTube is working with a GREEN SCREEN, so only audio for now
Let me know if someone is unable to flash or has any other issues/bugs
I am still working on fixing the camera and hopefully the youtube issue (Green Screen)
Will release and updated version ASAP
Enjoy the ROM and Please update here with feedback....
Thnx

Rom suggestion

I flashed a bunch of AOSP/LOS roms (they are similar anyway)
I wanna get back on MIUI, i am looking for a rom based on NOUGAT MIUI
My top priorities are
1. Video over LTE
2. Bluetooth Audio call working
3. Should be stable

Vilte is fixed on pie.
I suggest you to use revolution os but it is in marshmallow

Can anyone recommend me a stable custom ROM for the 5g version?

Hello everyone, after struggling with basically any custom ROM that I have tried, I'll report the errors here that I've had because I need a ROM that works decently, hopefully.
Paranoid Android (Android 10): frequent random crashes and reboots, audio codecs broken (some audio is really bad).
Lineage OS (Android 10): failures flashing it.
ShapeShift (Android 11): even more frequent crashes and reboots, mobile data not working.
Arrow OS (Android 11): I couldn't even complete the setup because of services crashing during the first configuration after flashing it.
I'd like a debloated ROM, less is more.
Or, if you have a flawless working ROM among the previous ones, please just link me the MIUI (and the firmware, if needed) I have to use to make the exact same installation you have (this is driving me crazy, it's about a week that I'm using a not decent phone). It's the 5g standard, no pro/ultra/lite.
Thank you.
Only stock roms work perfectly. Custom roms will have bugs.

Well, I have tried like 7 stock ROMs recently, almost all of them were as unstable as the custom ones.
Anyway, I've done the cleanest install possible (flash stock - format - flash custom - format) with Arrow OS and apparently like this it's quite stable.
