Hello
I recently upgraded to Android 10 and it seems like a lot of my apps have issues with storage permissions now. I've read they changed it to storage scopes but when I open some of my apps the first time I get prompt about it being built for an older version of Android, the app asks for storage access like it always did and I grant it but slot of the apps have issues writing to storage or reading other directories. If I go to settings there's storage permission which is enabled but that's it. How can I grant it more access so it can read things from my downloads folder or something? Even some like catlog if I give it root access it still does nothing.
Had an issue where system partition was not mounted after flashing twrp and magisk. After formatting my system partition, flashing lastest image, and then flashing magisk again system partition was mounted. Not sure what happened.
Have you rooted your device?
As for my stock system software, I can enable some app as 'trusted app'. So that it would have no issues about storage permissions.

After installing Kitkat 4.4 after I had encrypted the device as part of my business account. the internal sdcard0 is not mounted and the external not present. While booting it asks for the password to decrypt the storage, but never seems to do so..
/data is also empty as it also says sdcard0 unmouted, also my titanium backup is on this volume, this makes it a bit hard to restore anything. :crying:
Anyone any idea how to get the sdcard0 mounted?

Can you use this method?: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2532929 (It wipes your phone, backup everything)
Unable to access internal sd
weird thing is that after encrypting it shows that it has aaplications installed on the Ssdcard0 but none of the (root level) application, terminal with su - / root browser show any content in the sdcard0.
Gallery is unable to access the sdcard and so are all the other media apps.
Will try to unregister from the Exchange server, have no access to their settings and also have no clue what they enforce exactly, but seen many related issues.
Regards. Ballonatic.
Hi all,
I have come to a conclusion that I need more suggestions than most posted threads that have similar issues. I am past the basic tests, but I am sure there are more options.
The issue: I cannot install any new APK's either from Google Play or even via ADB. I am getting the common "Insufficient storage available" error. I assume all installed files land in /data/app first which is on the internal storage. So I have attached some screenshots below that prove that everything should be working fine given there is a lot of free space left.
Also, other things I have done are:
- Wipe dalvik cache and /cache
- Fix Root permissions
- copy /system/xbin/busybox to /system/bin (cannot update busybox since I cannot install or overwrite due to this error)
- Check both /storage/sdcard0 and /storage/sdcard1 have enough space.
1- you should ask the moderator to move it to S3 Q&A
2- I've also encountered this kind of issue in the past. If you are using Philz recovery:
backup all files on sd + nandroid backup to sd1, do 'wipe to install a new rom', mount&storage->format system, format data and sdcard (it will delete your previous rom and all files on internal sd, so don't forget to copy a new one to your external sd, and be careful not to format sdcard1)
Now you can restore your nandroid backup (don't forget to copy backed-up files to sd afterwards) or to install a freash one

Try an app called Diskusage ... maybe it helps.

Hard to install any new APK's / apps since I get this message every single time.
Nothing worse than someone saying why don't you try... app; don't think they understand your dilemma. Can you install an. Apk from phone or ext men?
Can you install things if you remove your ext sd?
Hallo,
Mobile: Huawei G8, currently stock ROM Austria RIO-L01C150B130
What works:
Booting Android, Installing apps, change seettings, viewing internal storage with es file explorer
What does not work
Making screenshots, making OTA (error message when trying to download dat), viewing internal storage with Astro
History: Start condition: Phone has run Lollipop, been unlocked, unrooted, TWRP installed. Phone has been encrypted
OTA downloaded Marshmallow update to SD, force closed all apps and rebooted
Mobile stuck in recovery (TWRP). TWRP could not access SD card. -Comment: It seems that the phone needs the stock recovery for OTA
Finally got TWRP accepting the SD card by formatting it with SD formatter tool but could not get anything work.
Wiped storage with TWRP (for clean install)
Flashed boot.img and recovery.img from Marshmallow RIO-L01C432B340CUSTC432D001. (all flashing done with fastboot). Tried to update system via dload folder. Update failed at 5% (right after checking files and starting update). Phone goes in endless boot loop.
Flashed system.img of Marshmallow above. Phone goes in endless boot loop.
Flashed revocery.img and boot.img of Lollipop version above.
Tried dload folder method. Fails immediately.
Flashed Lollipop system.img. Phone boots w/o asking for encryption key.
Wiped Cache with stock recovery.
All .img files where extracted from update.app with HuaweiUpdateExtractor with profile 'unkown (worstenbrood)'.
That's basically where I am. I hope I didn't forget something important.
Could be something easy like missing directories. Could be something tricky like partitioning or access right issues.
After about 16h fiddling around with the phone I can hardly thing clear anymore.
Any hints are highly welcome.
Regards
Chilli
It appears that the phone can't acces SDCard0. SDCard0 and many other directories show up as empty in ES File Explorer. I guess Astro tries to show the data directory or SDCard0 instead of root, which can't be accessed either (--> Astro shows nothing). Connected to PC via USB internal storage shows only two folders: Pictures and system. There is some preloaded content in these directrories, but no changes can be made.
The parition 'data' itself seems to be fine, because apps can be downloaded and updated (folder 'app' is working correctly). So it seems to be some access problem of specific directories of the partition 'data'. Which is pretty strange.
I made a clean install of Marshmallow (that did not work) and a dirty flash of Lollipop.
Edit:
I swiped everything with TWRP exept external SD Card
I installed Lollipop and this time access rights are fine.
It can store screenshots, it can store OTA data.
OTA still fails. No clue why, but I guss that's another story.
Thanks
Chilli
i restarted my lg g3 d855 which uses 7.1.2 lineage stock to twrp and did a dalvik and a cache wipe.
when i opened up my phone spotify gave me a no storage error, i tried to see what's wrong by using es file explorer pro and and the stock file explorer, both had nothing but an empty sign.
i rebooted to twrp again and it's own file explorer built in under the advanced menu, i was able to see /sdcard and /storage/emulated/0 and files under these partitions such ad Android and downloads.
what should i do? i can't even take screenshots because none of the apps have access to internal storage
Hi all,
After setting up Lineage OS 14.1 on my Galaxy S4 (I9505), I noticed that the camera app asked me to insert an SD card to continue, thinking this was strange, I decided to have a look at my storage status, it appears that my device shows up with 0 B free in the storage browser, and upon plugging it into a PC for MTP, I'm shown the device and internal "shared" storage with nothing in it. I've done some googling for what could be a possible issue, to no avail so far.
I've tried using the terminal in TWRP to create a directory on /sdcard/ and set up userinit.sh for that directory.
I would hate to have to reflash the device yet again as it's taken me ages to get this setup, and I don't want to have to buy an external SD card just for this phone (although something tells me that wont mount properly?)
Your assistance is much appreciated.
More details:
I notice when trying to tick the System partition in the Mount section of TWRP, I get a console message saying that the storage device could not be found.
I bit the bullet and tried re-installing the ROM from scratch. I made sure to do a clean installation, by wiping Internal Storage, System, Data, Cache and Dalvik Cache, ensuring system, data and cache were mounted. Installation went through without any errors as far as I could see.
The problem seems to be solved upon looking at the camera app. I will install and restore all my Google data and confirm this. Indeed it works. Please mark as solved!
