Mate 10 Pro -Emui 10 - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

Hi!
Did anyone get update for emui 10 on their devices?
Several news outlets say the rollout has started but oddly enough there are 0 posts online off emui 10 running on our devices and firmware finder has been silent since the start of January ?
Was looking at 3d Mark comparison across the versions and oddly enough the emui 10 brings major graphics and physics boost compared to emui 9.
( It's still lower than emui 8 scores. It could be that huawei cheating back then raised the bar too high in which case scores on emui 10 devices are insane - almost fully unlocked performance across the board. But if they weren't cheating on 3d mark then it's prolly for the best to remain on emui 8 - My benchmark list on emui 8 doesn't contain same package name that current 3d mark uses. They either changed it recently or huawei never cheated on 3d mark )

Update : Turns out Huawei covered all bases and cheated back then even ?
They were cheating on pc mark, older cousin of 3d Mark and upon checking results there emui 10 offers even worse results than emui 9?
While both offer significantly worse results than emui 8 - difference is immense, 7k for emui 8 while other 2 are struggling around 6.1k/6.3k scores.
I guess best benchmark will be installing emui 10 and checking for yourself, the results are all over the place ?

Had about, the news currently update is rolling out in China and some parts of India.

That's good to know, hopefully it reaches rest of us soon. It's been quite a while since global was supposed to start rolling out ?

Following the performance benchmark scores think I will downgrade to 9.1 it's just pathetic

Did you test for yourself or are you just watching the video below?
I'm not sure what's up with those scores ?
If you check the only 3k score he got on emui 10 you see that graphics performance is quite good actually : he gets 3.2k while I am at 3073 ( I tested while outside in freezing weather and it still couldn't pass that score, impressive )
Physics score is lower for him tho, while I got 2.9k he only got 2.5k.
If you have the update I suggest doing some benchmarking first before downgrading. Download 3d mark, open it and downloaded required benchmarks > Open device manager and block all apps from auto launching > then restart device and let it sit for at least 5mins so it cools down after boot > Then start benchmark and let us know the results.

Xiaomi Mi5: Reviews, Info, Benchmarks, Discussion

Hi Everyone! In this thread I'll try to gather information related to Xiaomi Mi5 phone.
Before we start, let's review the specs of Mi 5 in brief:
- Snapdragon 820, up to *4GB RAM + 128GB UFS 2.0 (*For Mi 5 PRO ONLY)
- 600Mbps 4G+ download speeds, VoLTE
- 3D *ceramic/glass body, weighs 129g (*Ceramic body for Mi 5 PRO ONLY)
- 5.15” 16 LED light display, 3D ceramic/glass body
- Front fingerprint sensor
- 16MP 4-axis OIS + 2µm-pixel 4MP camera
- 3000mAh battery, Quick Charge 3.0
- Full feature NFC
- MIUI based on Android M
- Available in Gold, White, Black (*Mi 5 PRO only in BLACK)
Display
The Mi5 comes with a 5.2-inch display that the company says is extraordinarily vibrant. It has used special technology to increase the contrast and vibrancy. The brightness of the phone is 600 nits, which is about 70% more than most phones. The display uses special sunlight detection technology that automatically enhances the colors when it senses outdoor conditions.
Design
The Mi5’s design is a continuation of the subdued aesthetics of Mi Note. “It was only natural to inherit all the beauty. The phone is built with high-grade Zirconia ceramic material at the back. The material scores about 8 out of 10 in hardness, double the score of steel. Ceramic is about 75% more expensive than even high-grade glass, Barra said, and has been manufactured in a 16-step process.
Camera
The camera has a more advanced optical image stabilization, which negates not just static shake, but also transverse movement, which results in better quality photos in high-zoom situations. The company showed the 4D OIS in action by comparing the picture of a shaking Mi5 with an iPhone 6S.The sensor is Sony IMX298 with 16 MP resolution and PDAF support and deep trench iteration. The model is one of the first to get the IMX298 sensor. The front camera includes a 4 MP sensor with 2µm-pixel.

Can you do a gaming review?
I have not seen any gaming review yet. Thanks.
Cannot wait for it to be released in India.
They also tested gaming. Snapdragon 820 is a beast for gaming ! Maximum temperature in gaming is about 39°C in a particular zone of the back of the phone.

Hii netvorCZEK
One question I am very intrested in
I saw you in Honor 8 forums
Did you own one or still have one Honor 8??
Couse I want the see what are the main changes of EMUI 5.0 and 5.1
And if it is by the firs impressions much better phone then Honor 8??
Is PRO a good upgrade to go from Honor 8??
For now as much I can see it should get support like the source code and other stuff..
Unless it will be a thing like Honor 8 users was waiting much longer then it was said to us
So, any opinions you write about the differences are welcomed by me.. I want to know
Thanks

Hi H8 Pro definitely worth the money. Bigger screen, bigger resolution, battery life is good. I like the metal body.
I don't think there is big step forward with EMUI 5.1. I found there is better resource management and they add predictive touch tracking which can apparently register your touches even faster than before and give you close to zero latency.
It's lightning fast!

Thats very good. And if the touches are fast like the fingerprint scanner on
the Honor 8 than it is lightning fast. Couse I thing unlocking the Honor 8
with the fingerprint is like instant thing. And I only can imagine if it is
that fast to operate with .. that it would be a pleasure to use it..
I saw some of the you tube videos about EMUI 5.1 and for me it has like
no difference from the 5.0 so thats why I have asked is there anything good or
that much different...
Thanks for sharing this info.. I thing you helped not only me about Honor 8 Pro

It's really great phone and as I said before it definitely worth the money.
Fingerprint works like a charm, no delay here.
That predictive touch features is related to the display not to the fingerprint just for you to be sure we are talking about the same. I didn't notice any difference.
IMHO if you use Honor 8, there is no reason to upgrade to Pro.

Buying Redmi Note 3 Pro 3/32gb today

Hello, today, or maybe tomorrow, I'm buying the RMN3 Pro 3/32gb, and I have a few questions so I know what to do when I get it( btw I'm getting it for 150 euros, used in perfect condition with warranty till the end of 2017). I've seen there is official Lineage OS? Does it have some bugs? Is it better than MIUI? And then here goes all the other questions, how is the battery on both roms, performance, camera... Is the speaker tiny like on the Redmi Note 2? I've had the RMN2 Prime, and it served me well... Thank you in advance and have a good day!
Great phone with good performances (78000 in AnTuTu), very fast : open apps in second ! The camera is not the best but it is enough and for the battery I get about 6/7 hours with normal use (some games, facebook, etc ..)
BUT
The rom MIUI is bad and will undoubtedly remain under android 6.0 .1 and contains a lot of bugs which will take a long time to be corrected, for custom roms I invite you to look in the ROM (Snapdragon) section of the forum. But overall they are all very good.
Hope it help
Probably don't even think of staying in MIUI when you have Lineage.
In all performance aspects its better. Along with lineage you can also install radon kernel and sound mods and you will make it a beast.
Bdw i got 87k antutu score with radon and battery is probably sweet.

150eur used kind of sounds like a lot, doesn't it?
In india redmi note 3 pro was officially around 140 euro. Brand new. . btw phone is a beast. Just camera is not good. Other thn that battery, performance, build quality, speaker everything is best . an custom rom development of this device is among best on xda.
Hope this helps
Thank you all! I'm definetly switching to LOS, and yes 155e is a bit too much, but here where I live (Serbia) it costs more because the only way to get it is to order it from China, and that's why the prices here are outrages! Oh yeah! How do I find out if my bootloader is locked or unlocked? I think I will have a hard time unlocking it, because my PC is dead anyways, I got the phone, and by far it's the fastest one I ever had... I had the Huawei P9 Lite, LG G Flex 2, Galaxy Note 4 and nothing comes close to RMN3's speed, camera is okay, but the battery is so damn good...
Redmi Note 3 is very powerful device no doubt about it, my phone scores 89000 antutu score in this rom-- https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/development/rom-t3612905 But this phone was launched in 2015 you should buy a newer phone.
Wait till snapdragon 660 hits the market, it will take a month at most. It is built on a 14-nanometer process and has custom kryo cores used in snapdragon 820.

Well yeah I probably should, but I had 160 euros, and this phone was the best for the price... Other options were Samsung Galaxy S5, Nexus 5, iPhone 5s, LG G3 and a few other really crappy phones... I think I didn't make a mistake when buying this phone
everything is great about rn3 except it's ****ty camera...
go for a device with amoled display and good camera.

[Discussion] Android 9/Pei update for V10 - Beta started in China

While checking I found this URL -
which claims that Android 9.0 update has been rolled out to few test users in China (closed beta group) which indicates we may soon expect the Android 9 hitting a stable release in China followed by global release.
Highlight from GizChina article-
president of Huawei’s mobile phone product line, He Gang, revealed that Huawei Mate 10 Pro, Huawei P20, Honor 10, and Honor V10 models have simultaneously started Android 9 Pie beta testing. He further stated that Huawei’s engineers are already working hard to perfect the system.
According to Huawei’s pollen club’s announcement, the above-mentioned models pushed an internal test version to a small number of pollen users on August 6. The official internal testing recruitment activities for the majority of pollen users will commence as soon as the update is ready.

According to Google, the new Android 9 Pie has two major upgrades. The first is its support for the recently popularized notch. In the developer mode, the Android 9 Pie system can simulate the notch and optimize the notification bar.
Secondly, the system efficiency is optimized which means that Android 9 Pie takes a shorter time to launch apps and the overall performance is better. At the same time, Android 9 Pie also displays the idle applications using the phone microphone, camera, and other sensors. The security of Android 9 Pie is better than the previous versions.
I found the similar article on GSM Arena: https://m.gsmarena.com/four_huawei_...ing_tested_with_android_90_pie-news-32670.php
I'm really satisfied with these news. Can't wait for the update, although it'll take a while. ?

Are you talking about EMUI or the actual version of Android?
The OP is speaking of Android Pie & I'm almost certain all Honor View 10's have been updated to Android 8.1........ Even if Huawei isn't tops in updates, I'd be surprised if this phone doesn't get Android 9.0.
I'd dare say we'll see it on this phone before any Samsung device, but, then again, that's not saying much, LOL....

Yeah,I get that, was just checking that we were talking about the version of Android, not the version of EMUI.
I'm in agreement 100%,there is absolutely no reason for the fragmentation of Android versions on what is virtually the same exact phone.

As far as Huawei / Honor is concerned, EMUI 8 has most changes found in Android 8.1 and also the Co. views the incremental updates as a major update. Their phones get two major Android updates and all phones released in 2018, whether with Android 8.0 or 8.1 would directly be updated to Android 9

That may be true, but,it still doesn't explain why the European version is on Android 8.0 & the NA version is on Android 8.1.
It may not matter to you, but, right or wrong,it matters to the end user.
Why give the impression that Huawei values some regions over others, especially on the same device?
It leaves a bad taste in the mouth & may cause some current owners to look elsewhere for their next phone purchase.
Especially w/Huawei's recent climb in market share,it also gives the impression that they don't have to worry about how the end user thinks or feels about their phone.
Along w/the recent policy change regarding the bootloader unlock, those are two areas of great concern to perhaps a small, but, very vocal community of users.......just something to think about.....
While I'm satisfied w/my Honor View 10,I can state it's the last Huawei device I purchase, unless Huawei changes their stance on locked bootloaders................

I get your point and I feel the same regarding the bootloader unlocking, but from Huawei's point of view, an unlocked bootloader just stands in their way of already rising security concerns of US and EU on Huawei. Regarding them releasing the same device with different android versions in different markets, it poses an issue only to a small group of people and I agree that it is wrong to other users, but we've been complaining about different regional firmware on Huawei devices since EMUI 4, but they have only turned a cold shoulder. A single international firmware (apart from their Chinese one) would help in faster software updates to all devices.

Your last statement is the head-scratcher(as to why there's not a universal Int'l firmware...................admittedly,Huawei isn't alone here, other mfgs are guilty of the same practice.
If the carriers are involved,as in the US,with their own bloat/etc....... I have to give 'em (Huawei & others) the benefit of the doubt.
If I could disable & re-enable Phone Manager at will w/o root,or,any other system apps (ADB allows for removal, but,a factory reset is needed to bring it back),I could forgo root on this phone.....
EMUI 4,I guess that goes back a ways,LOL,I had a long gap between Huawei Devices : OG Huawei Ascend m860 w/CM7 & some of the more current Huawei/Honor devices.
Have a great weekend! :good:

I really don't get Carrier based devices as the specific distribution channel really doesn't work well in Asian markets (I'm from India). I'd really wish if Huawei / Honor took the Oneplus route with a single firmware internationally. Oneplus beats Huawei / Honor in terms of software update reputation mainly because of their ease of updating their devices worldwide. I'd also like to get an android one version of Honor flagships. That'd be great, don't you think?

Now you're talkin', I'd get an Android One Huawei device, with or without root.
I had the Xiaomi Mi A1, that was a nice phone, especially at the price point. :good:

Yeah but unfortunately i can't unlock bootloader and debrand to China to use Pie early and will have to wait for update to release for other regions

Only US on EMUI/android 8.1 (haven't heard of China yet) but others are still on 8.0

Is that EMUI 8.0 or Android 8.0
Just asking because the version I have (BKL-L04) has EMUI 8.0,but,is on Android 8.1:

I get your point and I feel the same regarding the bootloader unlocking, but from Huawei's point of view, an unlocked bootloader just stands in their way of already rising security concerns of US and EU on Huawei.

I wonder why you and other people thinks bootloader unlocking has something to do with the US and EU security concerns, when it should be the other way around.
If you think about it, it's the other way around, meaning that with an unlockable bootloader, security researchers, NSA, CIA, you name it, could investigate on what's happening under the hood, while with a locked bootloader all this it's very hard to crack.
US was never concerned about Huawei devices being easy to crack because their bootloader can be unlocked, but their concerns were about China spying on US citizens, government, etc. Same goes with EU.
What would help Huawei, is open sourcing their chipset, being more transparent to the eye of the security researchers and developers, not closing their system even more.

Your comment hammers home my point, the phone was released elsewhere 1st & stands to reason that earlier adopters would have 8.1 before the newer regions.
The explanation given earlier ,that the latest EMUI has all the features of Android 8.1,regardless of which version of Android you're running,is illogical.
If that's the case, then why would Huawei bother with an updated version of Android on one region & not others.
It's crazy,so,that is why one with a model running Android 8.1 would make the assumption the other regions are on the same version......
Yes,I'm sure it's been discussed here in other threads & I've missed that discrepancy, obviously, until now.
I have no complaints w/the phone, one of the best overall I've owned, especially with the price of admission,so,I haven't had the need to read every thread & response.......

My firmware just got updated to 8.0.0.157 (C432)......am I ever going to get EMUI 8.1

Hi members, my Mate 10 Pro it's just got updated today to firmware 8.0.0.157 , it was a 3gig download, but the Android and EMUI hasn't moved on in version to even 8.1, what's going on with this phone?
My model is BLA-L09 and I'm in the UK on the 3 network.
I have to say for the price of this device when new, and the fact that version updates have not increase, I would highly recommend to anyone not to purchase Huawei again (I think the USA, and BT so far have a point).
Strange, how only Chinese models of this phone have moved on to Android/EMUI 8.1, sound dodgy.
If anyone has had a full EMUI version increase with this specific Huawei model in the UK, I'd be interested to know how they got it.
Thanks
Damn Google... For now the last version is the one you've got. It was just a google patch security even if it was sended like a whole android. Calm down, there are tons of smartphones who didnt got the Pie and this isnt the last of them. All that hate for Huawei, go buy a Samsung, you'll hate that too. ? Android Pie is rummored to be avaible OTA at the end of this month. The stable version of Pie can be seen on FF, but isnt still aproved for install.

Hello, if you had taken a few time to read the forums you have had your answer.
I had, I and still don't understand there answers, or why things haven't been given a proper update version, no there is no excuse, Huawei by there own Chinese nature want to just keep selling new version phone, and not be so forward in updating there old ones.
Like I said ,this is one and only Huawei phone I shall ever buy, next time it will be Samsung or Sony.

Huawei series P20 and mate 10 are getting Pie this year, Samsung note 9 and S9 only gonna get it next year. So why is huawei different from Samsung? Is even faster. I don't understand this hate towards huawei. They play the same game as Samsung, Sony and all of the major brands. Want fast updates buy a pixel phone or one of those damm chineses brand like xiaomi, or oppo. Come on you don't know what you're talking...
That not been my experience with having , and using past Samsung or Sony phones, I've only experiencened incremental minor firmware bugfix updates, and then further along, more major update version moves.
I can only say what I have experiencened with having this Huawei phone, and apart from it's speed , and battery life so many other things have been shakey or don't work, like the 'ok Google' wakeup Voice assistant, that's never worked, homescreen going into landscape mode function was removed after first having the phone after a minor firmware update.
There have been so few updates come to me through OTG for my mate 10 pro, this one today was the first off this size, I had high expectations with this, but still the same things don't work.
I can't even say they were not aware of my issues, they were, I emailed them on many occasions, even spoke to them, all they said is it will get corrected on the next update...yeh right.
Nope, you can argue all you like, I don't see it how you do, so I wouldn't bother don't waste your time.
I have the same device and firmware, we won't be getting 8.1, if you check firmware finder you will see Pie (Android 9) has appeared, though it's not approved yet, this usually means we will get it as a system update around 4 to 6 weeks (if it follows the same patterns of previous firmware)

Mate 10 c432 already has EMUI 9
What model? And when?
Ppl crying for emui 8.1 when pie has made a rollout.
And I thought I've seen it all....
The fact that we might get Pie a tad earlier than even P20 makes me think that Huawei is a really serious company when it comes to Users bying their top tier devices... No mater how good the P Series is the Mate series is the Very premium one... It would take lot of resources to take us to 8.1 when 9.0 is here and what i'm thinking is that Mate 10 and P20 series will be getting the updates like a couple since they are very similar in terms of hardware. Patience my friend! in a couple of weeks Pie gonna land on our handsets

I don't even have EMUI 8.1 on my Mate 10 Pro, so what's your point? And EMUI 9 isn't Rolling out to all the markets
Huawei have not released 8.1 for mate 10. It went directly from 8.0 to 9.0

You clearly don't know the definition of "troll", and you did that "you'll get 9 in a couple of weeks", and people told me the same about 8.1, and here I am waiting, and before answering, use a dictionary so that you know the definitions of the words that you are going to use. Ignorant.

You won't be getting 8.1, the UK c432 seems to be at the whim of the networks, hence many of us have rebranded to EU c432. Direct your ire at 3 not Huawei.
No EMUI 8.1 for mate 10/Pro. It will be upgraded to EMUI 9 PIE, which is rolling out now for non pro version..

But he's right u are trolling, people already running 9 all over he world including me and you're crying for old version of android?
And if you believe what "people say" then you're a dumb troll. EMUI 8.1 was never announced for Mate 10 pro.
