[Q] Is there a way to unlock the bootloader on emui 10? - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

I have the unlock code. My bootloader was unlocked since emui android 8. But after the update to emui 10, the bootloader was locked. When trying to unlock using the fastboot oem unlock command, it says FAILED (remote: invalid command). The model is ALP-AL00

On EMUI10 you can't unlock the bootloader anymore. Only way to unlock it is going back to EMUI 9.1 and stay there.

Nope. Through TP you get fastboot unlock, and that comes with user unlock too. But using code while in TP mode will only say that phone is already unlocked... And of course, when you reboot you're back in normal mode which is force locked. It's not even locking the phone like fastboot lock command does, it seems to be done at boot. Because when you downgrade you will be unlocked again without having to unlock.
Fastboot image is obfuscated to the max so we can't even check if they changed the unlock command to something else.

I see, ty guys!
You've been here helping us newbs ever since the day 1
Btw, got any ideas what your next device will be?
I'm working on modding this trashcan with custom cooling but if even that doesn't bring performance I need I'll be jumping the ship
Something like red magic 5g or hopefully a better quality gaming phone. I'm curious what you got your eyes on, if anything?

Cheers guys for the reply. Such a shady practice by Huawei. Do you guys know if there's a way to change the default launcher? ADB command to uninstall or disable the launcher doesn't work .

What command are you using? Is it adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 (package nam) ?
I'm not sure what the extra -k before --user 0 does so I just don't use it But if that doesn't work u might need it - adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 (package nam)
Hope it works

Definitely a pass here, I just saw BlackShark 3 Pro and that's definitely a winer =3 All that's left is to see some teardowns so I can evaluate cooling performance vs red magic 5G

Did you try
fastboot flashing unlock....?[/QUOTE]

For people looking for this, it can be done! I have a BLA-L09C782 - I was on EMUI 10, downgraded to 9 via HiSuite then paid this guy to unlock the bootloader https://ministryofsolutions.com/202...otloader-code-service-emui8-emui9-emui10.html
Ngl it's a bit sketchy as he has to remote into your PC but it worked and was only $15 for something that is otherwise impossible
He used a program that required a dongle to authenticate. It used some "software testpoint" to get a bootloader unlock code, then I think he flashed some (modified?) ROM - the software he was using could bypass the version checks. Once that was done, we just rebooted into fastboot mode and unlocking using the code from the software testpoint stuff worked.
I had a look around for the software he used and from what I can tell it costs money + the dongle required also costs money and would end up way more expensive than $15 so it's a super fair price and service.

The OTA will only work if you are currently on 5.0.2. What version is currently on your N9?
5.0.2. But something strange. On the bootloader I can see Os n/a ... It is normal?
Maybe can you explain how can I unlock oem without having access to the development option. If I can unlock it maybe I can flash factory image again

"Enable OEM Unlock" is an option within Developer Options that needs to be enabled in order to unlock the bootloader.
IMHO the 1st three things everyone who owns this device should do immediately is :
1.) Enable Developer Options ("how to's" are all over the place on the net and easily found.)
2.) Put a check box in "Enable OEM Unlock" in Developer Options
3.) Put a check box in "Enable USB debugging" in Developer Options.
So I can't use my nexus 9 anymore?
Assuming you grabbed the factory image from the google developer site you should have seen following the instructions on that page...
To flash a system image:
1.) Download the appropriate system image for your device below, then unzip it to a safe directory.
2.) Connect your device to your computer over USB.
3.) Start the device in fastboot mode with one of the following methods:
Using the adb tool: With the device powered on, execute:
adb reboot bootloader
4.) If necessary, unlock the device's bootloader by running:
fastboot oem unlock
STEP 4 is critical ...
What isn't mentioned here is that on the Nexus 9, in order for this command to be successfully executed, "Enable OEM Unlock" must 1st be checked off under Developer Options in the OS.
So you are now in a chicken and egg situation,,, You need to flash the factory image to get your device back up and running but unfortunately you need to have a device up and running to enable oem unlock in the 1st place.
You will likely have to RMA your device.

Yup, you'll have to return the device for service and/or replacement.

Dumb Question: ADB can't find my device

ADB is unable to see my HAM2L03. It just keep waiting for devices or list of devices bring up nothing. The command is "adb devices." Where can I find drivers for my phone? I looked at this, but it doesn't look safe at all. Their website doesn't have the drivers either. What should I do?
I have tried:
-Restart the daemon
-Changing USB ports [USB2.0 & USB 3.0]
-Restarting the phone
-Restarting the computer
Stock 5.1
Windows 10

Actually, do I have to manually update myself to B322? I am currently at MT2-L03C00B309 and I have no available updates for my phone. And I know CM requires you to be on B3222 to even flash it.
Also, which nightly or snapshot are you using on your ham and how is it? Is it your daily driver?

Yes update to b322. It's actually easy download from Huawei site. Unzip and place unzipped folder on root of sd card and then turn off the phone and press all 3 buttons at once then let go over power or something

No OTA? Do you have a Consumer Cellular or what?
Also, just for anyone else reading this, sometimes trying a different cable will help your phone to be identified. (You did good updating drivers, trying a different port, etc. I just wanted to get this idea out there, too.)

I think usually fastboot should work when adb works. One thing i can think of is maybe try run the DOS prompt with admin rights? Btw, when you under fastboot, what the phone is showing in the screen? Just want to make sure you are in the correct mode.

I guess there is a fastboot mode now. I had these phones in the closet for a while. The provider had a bad singal before we went to sprint. I am digging the new b322 version of an Android. I'm tempted to replace the Note 4 for the HAM2 but I love the S-Pen. The HAM2 are all unlocked and rooted and I have 3 of them.

The build version should be MRA58K. It's the latest/only build for Android 6/MM which is available for the european version of the V10 (AFAIK) where the bootloader can be unlocked. If you updated your phone via LG Bridge you can be fairly sure the installation of TWRP works.

But make sure you follow the steps mentioned on the page linked above.
You will not brick your phone if you don't but perform a factory reset and loose all data.
Maybe do a backup on a micro SD card prior to trying to flash TWRP.
If you have not unlocked your bootloader yet you need definitely need to backup your data as the bootloader unlock will also perform a factory reset.

If you really typed "adb reboot boatloader" it is not surprising that the phone reboots because the parameter "boatloader" is unknown. The command executed by the phone is then "adb reboot".
"adb reboot bootloader" should solve the problem.
if "boatloader" is just a typo (though you typed it twice) check if "USB debugging" in the developer options is really enabled. Maybe disable and enable it again.
One other thing I forgot and it is not mentioned in the LG tutorial for unlocking the bootloader if I remember correctly:
I needed to enable the option "Allow OEM unlock" under developer options to be able to perform the unlock command with the unlock.bin file received by mail from LG. After the unlock is done and the phone rebooted disable this option again. Otherwise the fingerprint sensor is not working correctly. you can register fingerprints but not unlock your phone with it.

Open the phone settings / About phone / Hardware info. What model number is shown there?
If it is in fact a H960 (without A) you can't unlock the bootloader.
Also there seem to be some problems with the H960A for some users. Meanwhile I suspect that those are phones which were not meant to be sold in Europe but somehow found their way here. Therefore some internal flag might prevent those phones from booting into bootloader / fastboot mode.
H960 in android 5.1, H960A in 6.0

Hi.. Did u manage to solve your problem? We both have the same one..
I don't see this as a problem : the model is well H960A, it's just shortened in the set up menu. If you have a 32GB model, I don't think you could get something else.
I'm pleased to get it rooted, but sad to see so few development because of LG reluctance to let the community work on it.

dont know yet but the plus series is ure best bet from history speaking
as of rite now theyre no methods on any of the 3s
of coarse u can try king/kingo root prob be best bet
The Plus models from MetroPCS and TMobile have unlockable bootloader's, so all that's needed is TWRP to flash root

Nice to know there will be an option in a month or two. I hear development on Stylos don't take too long considering their popularity.
I would love to know what's needed to attempt root on a device...I mean from scratch...like what is needed to access the /data file...and how to break thru the lock LG has to stop someone from mounting and rewriting certain files

Do the devices have fast boot. If so a oem unlock. Some one said metro and t mobiles where unlocked or unlockable
I'm no programming/root expert but in developer options you enable oem unlock.. then connected o the pc you type fastboot oem unlock from a command prompt.. the phone then says its unlocked .. that's as far as I went. Aso after that, when you boot the phone, it literally complains that it is missing security before it boots.

Aso after that, when you boot the phone, it literally complains that it is missing security before it boots.

LG might have removed the ability to boot an image without flashing it like they did with the Stylo 2 plus, and I don't think there is a kdz available yet as I been looking for one every couple of days but haven't found one.

so there is no way to make a backup through fastboot it is said that waiting for a kdz or .tot firmware and restoration through download mode with lg flash tool or lgup or support tool is best bet
do u still have download mode?

An existing fastboot does not mean that it support flashing custom recovery, check lg g6 threads to know what I'm talking about.
I want to purchase one of these from metro to use on my h20 account. If I flash a new rom will it get rid of that stupid unlock policy that makes you use the app after 90 days to unlock?
Anyone know if or when any updates even security patches will roll out for this device?

My bet is the situation is similar with G Stylo 2+.
Even with the latest 7.0 ROM, I still could flash TWRP and install SuperSU (not Magisk unfortunately).

Thats what it seems all the plus models eccept cricket. Seem to be rootable.
Ofcoarse no plus for me. Just the reg. So again just like g4 and many other devices i will not be able to get root

Any root for Asus ZenFone max plus(M1)?

Is there anything I can do to root this device? I already tried using kingroot and kingoroot but it failed to root, I also tried to install a custom recovery (twrp) but it doesn't support this device so if anyone compiled a twrp file for this device it can also help.please help me guys.thank you.
Device:Asus ZenFone Max Plus (M1)
I haven't found anything yet, but there is an official unlocker here. I think it only works for a certain model though, it didn't seem to do it for me. However they did release the source, and I'm in the process of getting set up to try and get TWRP to compile with it. Won't be able to do much with it if I can't unlock the bootloader, though

but in order for you to install magisk wouldn't you need a custom recovery?or did you just use the magisk manager app and would patching the boot.img from in the app work without a custom recovery?

Flashed via adb and fastboot, get the stock boot off a dump from your phone, make a new boot.img with magisk, fastboot the new boot.img to your phone. Works flawless, and all audio mods I have tried so far work

how would i get the stock boot from a dump from my phone, never had to deal with this before lol, used to use a HTC One M8 but it broke.
---------- Post added at 08:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:37 PM ----------
Sorry this may seem dumb but can you give me a step-by-step please.I understand how I'm to patch the boot.img with magisk,I just don't fully understand how to get a dump from my phone in order to find the boot.img to patch and flash afterwards, also any tips on how to flash with adb would be helpful thanks.I think it's something along the lines of adb push magisk.....img... right?I have expereince flashing custom roms and magisk from a custom recovery but with this phone there is no custom recovery yet, which is why I was stuck. So would i unlock bootlader first, and then patch the boot.img and flash it via fastboot?or would unlocking the bootloader after patching and flashing the boot.img be better.

I'm rooting for the exact same purpose audio mods, and substratum lol
dumping the boot img

I'm going to try to root the phone in order to dumpo the recovery.img from the phone and port twrp for our phone.I did see a file for our same mediatek chip but it was for 4 gb's of ram.If I could somehow edit that for 3gb I wouldn't even technically have to port twrp.Give me time but I'm going to try porting twrp for our device.
